  • Southwestern view of Starship Flight Test 2 from the Rocket Ranch Outpost (11/18, ~7AM). ~3.8 miles from the OLM/OLIT. Shot on an iPhone 13 Pro I had on the side.
The camera did not pick up S25 after B9's RUD. Last few seconds fast-forwarded.

Absolutely incredible. One of the greatest “what you would see and hear” videos of a rocket launch ever. A wonderful documentation of history. Thank you

Awesome view of B9's RUD! Always wanted to see a wide-angle shot to get a feel for its angular size.

I've seen a rocket launch in person, and I can say that this video has the best audio I've ever herd on a rocket launc video! Was the sound recorded on the Iphone 13?

Yep, the audio is the raw audio from the video recording. Pretty happy with it myself - especially that initial bassy "thwump".

This one is the closest to reality right ?

@@SIPIL_JANGAN_DIPUKUL Definitely not a question that I can confidently say "yes" to, but from what I've seen I do think it's pretty solid. It definitely benefited from being recorded a bit closer than South Padre Island. Most videos seem to have been filmed from there and at that distance it seems the whomp of the initial pressure wave isn't as well defined, whereas here I think it came in pretty clean. Around 0:40 when you really start to hear the engines throttle up, the mic started to struggle just a bit. IRL it honestly does sound like the finale to a fireworks show with a very loud rumbly bass undertone. No video/recording can capture it all though. You can physically feel the sound of the engines lighting (you can see the camera deflect when the sound hits at 0:26) and once it's off the ground you feel the rumble in your chest.

How far away from the launch site was this video taken? Love that crackling thumping sound.

18 seconds from ignition to heading the ignition, and at 1100 feet per second, about 6km away from launch pad
