Once again, CP catches it like no one else!!! You can really see what is going on with those engines, which obviously received heavy damage during lift off. The shock waves seen in the slo mo rising vertically along with the OLM debris they carried no doubt played a significant role in the damage that was done to the vehicle. I am so proud of team CP for their amazing audio and video capture of this event. Cudos.

    For ITF2...
'Could you just' duplicate this tracking rig a few times, and have one concentrating and zoomed in on the flamey end, another on the whole ship, another from a different angle... Perhaps one in Mexico... !!!
This setup works so well. We just need a lot, lot more of it!!!

As this was shot at a wonderfully high resolution, it would be amazing if you could just zoom in, crop out and stabilise the flamey end footage, showing the engines, the explosions, the debris flying off, etc.

Until now, when we saw big powerful rockets ascend, it was always on a thick orange tail. Even the HydroLOX rockets often utilize solid rocket boosters. @9:30 we can clearly see through the exhaust into the nozzles. As if the engines were merely prop lights and SuperHeavy a model in a SciFi movie.
It is so surreal that it took me until now to grog why it didn't feel like this was the most powerful rocket taking flight: the flames visibly coming out of the rocket is what gives it its aura of unbridled power. And SuperHeavy resembles more an LED flashlight running out of batteries.

Have you thought about buying a Celestron RASA 36 and a sony A1 for night launches?
It has an aperture of f/2.2 and a 60mm image circle for medium format cameras so with a focal reducer you would get an aperture of f/1.5 at 553mm of focal length.
What about the Sigma 14mm f1.4 and 105mm f1.4 to record the crowd reaction at the same time?

Looking at the video over and over, it is clear to me that this vehicle will never be man-rated unless/until they get those shock waves under control. They are more than strong enough to kill a person, and damage payloads. The giant water deluge system will help. But that won't prevent the shock waves traveling up the side of the rocket (and likely inside as well) like we see in the video. It must have a flame/shockwave diverter. But then, I'm a geologist, not an engineer. What do I know? 😄

I saw Artemis 1 go up and most of us were speechless. Couldn't yell because of the shear noise and vibration. I love the video but annoys me that people try to scream over the experiences. We all clapped and were joyous after artemis was 3 minutes in flight. Most of people are fueled up on alcohol and probably won't remember much

A Falcon 9 first stage produces about 100 tons of CO2 during launch. Wonder what the Starship CO2 footprint is.
