This is a cool idea, some others I think would work on the same premise are Carcass/Arch Enemy, Soulfly/Sepultura and Strapping Young Lad/Devin Townsend Project...I'm sure there are more though haha
Honored Pete to have you riff / thrash on my heavy fella, the II II II II. To those watching, I would say one thing: demo the free trial in your setup and room... one play-through is all it takes. It's got the stuff and will not let you down. 😎👍
I'd love to try your plug-in. Sadly I'm a boomer without a setup that could run it. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 I have a great laptop but not the monitors and other stuff needed. Maybe someday soon. 🤔
Otto II II II II amp sim is literally the one! Fully loving these switcharoos, totally mind bending hearing the Master of Puppets riff like that. What was your favourite riff / most weird to play in the video?
The perfect amp for this video. I've been using the || || || || since it launched and it's my go to for heavy, drop A-tuned guitars. The tones really fit in the mixes here Pete. Just a shame you couldn't get a guest vocalist in to do some Dave Disdain over the Metallica riffs! 😁
Great swap video 🤘 amazing tone! II II II never disappoints, it’s truly the only amp sim I use for my band and solo project, please share this preset 🤘
Hey, Pete! The "Sad But True" riff is just different enough from the original that you could make an original song with it. Seriously. It's a good riff that kinda feels wasted here. Yeah, I know it was written to show how Megadeth might have written the song, but still, it's an awesome riff in its own right!
I think this is a good example that justifies Dave remaining in Metallica. If Dave and Cliff were around together long enough I can't fathom how many great songs would have been made.
Excellent what-if video and I loved the results you achieved with each variation. The II II II II can deliver a ton of tone options with all of its options, that's for sure. Hearing the songs from different eras and how consistent the II II II II sounded was kick ass to say the least.
To answer that question, all you needed to do was listen to "The Mechanix" from Megadeth's first album then listen to "The Four Horsemen" from Metallica's first album.
II II is simply GROWTAL!! My favourite modes are The Otto, 1991 and supercollider coupled with cabs 1, 7 and 13. I use it with the gain lowered and the WIIDTH activated, always honest and beastly.
Honestly I've thought for a While now that Metallica and Megadeth should have done 1 collaboration Album Imagine *Dave and James (vocals and rhythm) *Marty Friedman (lead) *Lars (Drums) because Nick Menza is Gone R.I.P * Jason Newstead or Ellifson take your pick ( 1st choice Cliff R.I.P. ) IN A PERFECT WORLD
Pretty accurate. Megadeth complicates the Metallica riffs and adds intricacies... Metallica takes complicated Megadeth riffs and replaces the filler notes with more "GUH GUH GUH GUH GUH"
Awesome job as usual, but maybe as you are a young man you chose some songs as Call of Ktulu which were written by Dave Mustaine as well. This is the reason why they use the exact same chord progression of the hangar 18 riff...
Great work with adapting the riffs and producing, but both versions were absolutely abominable and I can't imagine any producer accepting such mess... But maybe with some much less-known acts at the time like Heathen.
Jeez, the Master Of Puppets in Megadeth style sounds like a legit song from Rust in Peace album. And the Bells are really like something from Peace sells album
I have always preferred Megadeth's sound. They did a cover of battery that i find far superior than the original being my favorite track/album from Metallica
I like this music better than either of those bands. The crazy part is that Metallica was a pre-cursor to Megadeth so… You technically out did Metallica. Hats off good sir.
Funnily enough Metallica still sound the same, or even better in the Megadeth style. However, Megadeth don’t really sound the same in the Metallica style. I wonder why that is?
One 'freebie' so to sat would be The Four Horsemen, originally written by mustaine during his metallica day and he redid the entire song to 1-up them after he got kicked out, that is one song that lets you see the switcheroo on their albums... can't for the life of me recall what tge megadeth version was named though
I'm sure that you did the Megadeth stuff just fine, not a fan of their stuff, so I can't say more than that, but I feel like the Megadeth style on top of what is a Metallica song just made the song lose all of its power. It's fast for the point of being fast. Which is kind of why I can never listen to much Megadeth.

Honored to have you riff on the heavy fella Pete 😎🤜🤛
Great playing bro! Metalladeth!
Primary albums of both bands are almost identical cos Dave mustaine wrote most of kill em all
Probably the most natural riff swap ever lol
Love the "peace sells" riff! That was awesome. Love your tone also!
I love the tone too ;)
Love the tone!!
Thanks! :)
Me too ;)
This is a cool idea, some others I think would work on the same premise are Carcass/Arch Enemy, Soulfly/Sepultura and Strapping Young Lad/Devin Townsend Project...I'm sure there are more though haha
master of puppets was dope, im sure i would listen it everyday of my most metalic era
Awesome🎉
I honestly can't imagine James whining about Dave 40 years after the fact. That is what you mean by what if they sounded like one another, right?
You should have swapped 4 Horseman and The Mechanix 😁😁😁
This all just sounds like Megadeth!
It's all Anthrax
I think you only fucked up peace sells. Sure metallica doesnt usually have bass but the riff is completely dif without bass
Mustaine can sound both
Really like MegaDeth doing Metallica. The II II sound really good here too.
Okaaay. Peace sells sounds too much like something that would be indeed in Load.
Honored Pete to have you riff / thrash on my heavy fella, the II II II II. To those watching, I would say one thing: demo the free trial in your setup and room... one play-through is all it takes. It's got the stuff and will not let you down. 😎👍

But does it go to 11?
@@BobBigWheels I believe it actually does.
@@BobBigWheels you bet your big wheels it does Bob
@@donbishop6994 100 audio interface and sub 100 3" montiors from amazon are good enough if you are just a bedroom player
It's fun hearing the re-imaginings! Now I want full Megadeth covers of Metallica tunes 😅 Those tones are killer
favorite is Metallica played in style of megadeth, the tone fits the whole experiment 100%, it sound as if this thing was reality
Otto II II II II amp sim is literally the one! Fully loving these switcharoos, totally mind bending hearing the Master of Puppets riff like that. What was your favourite riff / most weird to play in the video?
Yeah dude it’s a tone tweakers paradise for sure. I love turning knobs and flipping switches
Where is tornado
The perfect amp for this video. I've been using the || || || || since it launched and it's my go to for heavy, drop A-tuned guitars. The tones really fit in the mixes here Pete.
Just a shame you couldn't get a guest vocalist in to do some Dave Disdain over the Metallica riffs! 😁
Man, I'd love to hear vocals to most of those, especially the For Whom the Bell Tolls one! Dave's snarly vocals sound right at home to that riff!
Absolutely love the II II II II for high gain tones. Sounded mammoth in this for sure. Great video Pete!
Thanks Ryan 🤜🤛
Great swap video 🤘 amazing tone! II II II never disappoints, it’s truly the only amp sim I use for my band and solo project, please share this preset 🤘
Word, we want presets!
Honestly it all sounds great. Putting the II II II II through its paces on this one, and it delivers!
Brother you gotta do a full cover of Peace Sells (Metallica Load Ear) that was fuckin kick ass!
Thanks! :)
For Whom the Bell Tolls is one of my favorite Metallica songs and doing it in the style of Megadeth just sounded great🤘🏽
Would love to hear a whole Album of Metallica songs in a Megadeth style! Nice job!
Hey, Pete! The "Sad But True" riff is just different enough from the original that you could make an original song with it. Seriously. It's a good riff that kinda feels wasted here. Yeah, I know it was written to show how Megadeth might have written the song, but still, it's an awesome riff in its own right!
Great!
I would have done Symphony of Destruction ultra slow in Sad But True style :)
Dude I would pay millions to hear a full version of Peace Sells in the Load style, great work!
I really want to hear full track of "For whom the bell toll" by megadeth
absolutely love that puppets riff!!! nicely done dude
The II II II II is amongst the best amp sims out there for sure and quite versatile in terms of music styles. Cheers
Really inventive, you seem to have really tapped into some subtle things that give each band it's unique sound. You have your 1000th like from me sir.
Thank you! I’m pleased you enjoyed it :)
Peace Sells in the style of Metallica Load Era was soo good!🔥👌
especially with the solo
To answer that question, all you needed to do was listen to "The Mechanix" from Megadeth's first album then listen to "The Four Horsemen" from Metallica's first album.
I gotta make the joke.
You forgot the four horsemen Megadeth style and Mechanix Metallica style
Next do if Ozzy and Dio swapped
AKA "What Metallica might have sounded like had Dave not been booted."
II II is simply GROWTAL!!
My favourite modes are The Otto, 1991 and supercollider coupled with cabs 1, 7 and 13.
I use it with the gain lowered and the WIIDTH activated, always honest and beastly.
Thanks for the words Jon 👍
Please, Megadeth song in St. Anger style.
Of course, the snare also.
So is everyone sleeping on Peace Sells in Load? Cause that was killer.
In my opinion the metallica style symphony of destruction sounds better than the original riff it fits the song
It would be funny to see Mechanix in Metallica's style.
Great video, amazing tones! Your good ol' 6505 Mini is still good, but I think it just got placed into retirement. 😂
I was waiting for Call of Ktulu. The Four Horsemen/Mechanix would have been funny too. Great video, and amazing riffage.
This amp sim is great. Has really good settings for bass also!! Love the color of your guitar. I have a 1986 RG in the same body color. 🤘🏻
I need for whom the bell tolls megadeth full version !!!
Now we need full tracks
I bought the 11 cause its more affordable compared to neural dsp with their 50% off. Not disappointed.
Thank you Naz 😎
Are these tones using 11/11 plugin?
I love the way some of these sound
Lol I love how the camera pans to the picking hand at 2:11 to highlight the down-picking skill for that riff lol
Nice another 10 10 video 👍
You Forgot to swapped Metallica - The Call Of Ktulu & Megadeth - When
Megalica and Metaldeth
For Whom the Bell Tolls might be better then Metallica haha 🤘
II II II II sounds great . Loving the tone.
Honestly
I've thought for a While now that Metallica and Megadeth should have done 1 collaboration Album
Imagine
*Dave and James (vocals and rhythm)
*Marty Friedman (lead)
*Lars (Drums) because Nick Menza is Gone R.I.P
* Jason Newstead or Ellifson take your pick ( 1st choice Cliff R.I.P. )
IN A PERFECT WORLD
I want to visit this alternate universe!
All of them sounded pretty good except hangar 18. It's hard to make it not sound like Megadeth. I'd love to hear complete versions of these
The Megadeth interpretations were spot-on
Pretty accurate. Megadeth complicates the Metallica riffs and adds intricacies... Metallica takes complicated Megadeth riffs and replaces the filler notes with more "GUH GUH GUH GUH GUH"
This sums up if they were to join together and make a big band, and it’s AWESOME!!
All fantastic but favourites are Holy Wars & Symphony Of Destruction. Both Megadeth songs strangely
‘What if MEGADETH & METALLICA switched?!’
Answer: They would sound like MEGADETH.
Symphony of Destruction in Metalica style sounds like Iced Earth and it's awesome, it would have been one of the best riffs ever written
Awesome job as usual, but maybe as you are a young man you chose some songs as Call of Ktulu which were written by Dave Mustaine as well. This is the reason why they use the exact same chord progression of the hangar 18 riff...
this is a piece of art
Great work with adapting the riffs and producing, but both versions were absolutely abominable and I can't imagine any producer accepting such mess... But maybe with some much less-known acts at the time like Heathen.
Fantastic!
I think Sad But True just sounded like a Metallica riff off load or something. The tempo and drum beat felt like Lars’ playing.
Haha, Metallica's Hangar 18 had me smiling before the explanation came up 😁😁
I thought "Enter Sandman, Megadeth Style" was already a song called "Trust", right?
Jeez, the Master Of Puppets in Megadeth style sounds like a legit song from Rust in Peace album. And the Bells are really like something from Peace sells album
I have always preferred Megadeth's sound. They did a cover of battery that i find far superior than the original being my favorite track/album from Metallica
Nail. Head. 🤘
Elon Musk buying Twitter when he could be paying Metallica and Megadeth to cover each other's songs.
GROGU (written in your T-Shirt) means "pale" in Sardinian Language 😆
Every time I listen to "Ride the Lightning," I think "this would be better with Dave on guitar and vocals."
Symphony of Destruction gave off major AJFA feels.
"Holy wars" in Metallica style,. fuck yeah man! powerful riff!
I like this music better than either of those bands. The crazy part is that Metallica was a pre-cursor to Megadeth so…
You technically out did Metallica. Hats off good sir.
It's my opinion - but i like Megadeth's riffs in Metallica style more thah Metallica's riffs in Megadeth style!
amazing tones!
Megadeth played in the style of MetallicA CONQUERS.
Funnily enough Metallica still sound the same, or even better in the Megadeth style. However, Megadeth don’t really sound the same in the Metallica style. I wonder why that is?
Symphony of Destruction was superb, post the whole song dammit, my head needs to bang :)
I had a feeling something from Kill Em All or Ride the Lightning would be on here. I wasn't disappointed 😅
Cool tone!
After re-listening to this, Symphony of Destruction is my fave, tight as f..k!
One 'freebie' so to sat would be The Four Horsemen, originally written by mustaine during his metallica day and he redid the entire song to 1-up them after he got kicked out, that is one song that lets you see the switcheroo on their albums... can't for the life of me recall what tge megadeth version was named though
Yoi should have tried switching The four Horsemen and The Mechanix
I'm sure that you did the Megadeth stuff just fine, not a fan of their stuff, so I can't say more than that, but I feel like the Megadeth style on top of what is a Metallica song just made the song lose all of its power. It's fast for the point of being fast. Which is kind of why I can never listen to much Megadeth.
Who else agrees that symphony of destruction would have sounded better by Metallica with a gallop reminded me of the and justice for all album
Peace Sells with the Metallica Load style is dope !
Thanks! :)
would've been cool if you used ride the lightning since originally it was dave's riff
honestly thought you'd just play Trust for Enter Sandman lol
