@@elijahechicagobearsboyd5734 that makes no difference, they sound alike because they sound alike. Plenty of nu metal bands sound different from each other.
@peteplaysmusic Sounds good to me, your music is always awesome to listen to. 😁 Edit: Btw forgot to add this but I wanna see you turn a pop punk riff into a metal riff, maybe like *Dammit by Blink 182* or *The Hell Song by Sum 41.*
I like the extra content watching you come up with a general idea. It takes skill taking the essence of 2 bands. Without context I'd have a good idea what you were trying to accomplish. Nice to see you back, looking forward to seeing more. 👍
Good to see you back! The sound quality of your vids is awesome as always🔥 and from this vid, my fav riffs are probably Iron Man and Smoke on the water, so sick!
this sounds crazy you perfectly captured what makes their simple riffs sound so agressive, i want a full version of Iron Man btw you should give us some tips on how to write a Slipknot style song, i'd love to know how you got your samples
Great to hear you back! Loved all of these, especially the Smoke on the Water riff. Would love to hear a full version of that song done Slipknot style if you feel like it!
Dude, the Pantera and KoRn riffs are sooooooooooooo FN BA!! They both have that groove that even Slipknot has a hard time with in new music. They might need to Consult you for riffs! Those to have that classic Bounce to me and the drum work is on point to help bring out the important notes. And most importantly, it doesn't sound exactly like an old song, excluding the blind intro part, but it all makes up for it with those heavy groovy jams that follows! KoRn could take a note from this one too. In the modern age, Blind doesn't drop in and hit as hard as it did back in the day, but the intro will always be legendary. Just man!, great thought, and attention to detail, and feel for what sounds right man. 🤘
Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how that one turned out. And yeah, it's actually a real nice guitar. My only issue with it is the volume knob positioning but that's very normal for me haha :)
Fun video idea, for sure, but I don't know how I feel about the flow. One of the things I liked about the 1 Riff 20 Bands video was how each style flowed, like it was all one big song. Now, I get that maybe you wanted to feature the riff normally first for each one so that folks could hear the difference, and I guess not everyone knows every riff. It just felt weird with the stop-and-start style. As for future video ideas, as a big power metal nerd, I think it would neat to hear riffs in the style of Helloween. Classic metal bands would be pretty entertaining as well (Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, etc.).
Thanks! 1 Riff 20 Bands format will remain the same but for these ‘reverse’ ones I’m talking a bit more and showing the process a bit. Think of it as kind of a spin off. But yeah the regular 1 Riff 20 Bands will remain exactly the same :)
Love DOOM in the style of slipknot. Could we get a full version of it? Or get it in the style of what you think it would sound like if metallica did it?
please do a What if Slipknot played Fear Factory ( Scapegoat, Replica, Edgecrusher, Linchpin, Cyberwaste) and What if Fear Factory played ( Surfacing, left behind, before I forget, Gematria, devil in I) since there's a couple connections between the bands.
Blind by Korn in the style of Slipknot kinda slaps hard.... Like, you are middle of a fight just throwing punches, or killing monsters in a game! Suffice to say I loved that a lot! Speaking of slapping hard, how about different bands in the style of Gojira, or Meshuggah?
Which riffs do you want to see next? :)
Also, check out the Harley Benton Fusion III here: bit.ly/3rmOODS
Any new originals?
Yep, working on it :)
Metallica - Spit Out the Bone
HEEEEEEEE’SSSSSS BAAAAACK
Hey Pete can we get a Phantom Of The Opera rift?
Slipknot doing Blind just sounds like Before I Forget 😂
Well, they’re both NÜ Metal bands, sooo.
You’re not wrong
@@elijahechicagobearsboyd5734 that makes no difference, they sound alike because they sound alike. Plenty of nu metal bands sound different from each other.
Also because parts of the riff is exactly the same.
@@XeroforteSlipknot were directly influenced by Korn early on, so there’s that.
Love that high pitched snare in the drums, reminds me a lot of how Joey's kit sounded
Thanks! The kit preset I used is called SnotLip so I think they modelled it off of his kit :)
I always do that snare in my music. I love it. I dont like modern drums that sounds all the same
The Blind riff was so trippy haha, welcome back dude!
Haha, thanks buddy :)
the riffs by themselves sound great but the drum tracks in this vid really sell it absolutely amazing
Thanks! :)
All iconic riffs but 10/10 for including E1M1 !!!
The Blind riff sounded like Before I forget in parallel universe!! 😄Love the tone on the video
Thanks! :)
Smoke on the Water sounds sick! Great to see you back 🤘🏻
Thanks! It's very good to be back :)
I can’t be the only one who thinks it sounds like the main riff from “Eyeless” but in reverse.
These all sound great.
Just one issue with one of the suggestions. When played correctly, Smoke on the Water is not 035.
In the style of Dillinger escape plan would be amazing id personally pay you to make that video
Same literally
Sup Pete! Good to see you again.
Thanks! It's good to be back! :)
Love this new format of the *1R20B* series, I love the Slipknot E1M1 Riff at 2:07, both Mick Gordon and Slipknot are amazing together. 😁
Thanks! The regular 1R20B series will continue too, this is an additional series kinda like it where I can talk more with you guys :)
@peteplaysmusic Sounds good to me, your music is always awesome to listen to. 😁
Edit: Btw forgot to add this but I wanna see you turn a pop punk riff into a metal riff, maybe like *Dammit by Blink 182* or *The Hell Song by Sum 41.*
I think... It is time... What if Pete Cottrell wrote these riffs?
Haha thanks! I appreciate it :)
Pete you are one masterful riffmeister .
Thanks! I try my best :)
I like the extra content watching you come up with a general idea. It takes skill taking the essence of 2 bands. Without context I'd have a good idea what you were trying to accomplish.
Nice to see you back, looking forward to seeing more. 👍
Thanks! I wanted to talk to everyone watching a bit more in these videos and show the process a bit :)
@@peteplaysmusic I do appreciate the longer videos from you. Been a fan of your videos for years. 🤘🏻
Good to see you back! The sound quality of your vids is awesome as always🔥 and from this vid, my fav riffs are probably Iron Man and Smoke on the water, so sick!
Dude, you're giving away some really sweet riffs.
Good to se you back, Pete! So sorry for your loss, lots of strength for you and your family lml
Thanks! It's good to be back :)
That Korn Blind was epic dude !!
Cheers Pete. Glad you're back. My condolences!
this sounds crazy you perfectly captured what makes their simple riffs sound so agressive, i want a full version of Iron Man btw
you should give us some tips on how to write a Slipknot style song, i'd love to know how you got your samples
Bro! you need waay more subs. This was sick
Thanks! :)
This wasn't just a new vid, this was a flex in awesomeness! Good to see you back, dude!
Haha thanks! It's good to be back! :)
SO GREAT TO HAVE YOU BACK!!!!! =]
Thnaks! It's good to be back! :)
Good to see you back!
One band I never see considered for these kinds of things, and I think it should be 🤪, is Strapping Young Lad
Thanks! Oh I love Devin and SYL, this would be so cool! :)
YES!!
Yes 1,000,000%
Yes Pete! Good to see you back and firing off the riffage. Hope you’re doing ok and look after yourself.
Thanks! Good to be back :)
Nice to have you back bro, great as usual 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼🏴
Thanks! Good to be back :)
im glad you are back mate
Thanks! It’s good to be back :)
Great to hear you back! Loved all of these, especially the Smoke on the Water riff. Would love to hear a full version of that song done Slipknot style if you feel like it!
Really cool interpretations! The riffs sounding great. 🤘 Harley Benton gets better and better. I will try the Amarok 7 BKRD Quilted Burst....
Thanks! The Amaroks are great guitars :)
Glad to see you back pete.
It's good to be back! :)
E1m1 lit gave me the biggest goosebumps! So sick
Genuinely prefer this version of 5 Minutes Alone to the original, nice work chief!
You’re hands down one of the best guitarist here on RUclips
Thanks! :)
great to see you back
Good to be back :)
You back! Awesome!
Haha thanks! Feels good :)
Great content! We want it in the style of other bands too.
Some Fear Factory riffs? btw. Glad to see you back :)
The riff master returns with his riffy greatness
Haha thanks! :)
ohhhh welcome back, Pete
it's been a while
keep stay strong!
Thanks! Feels good to be back! :)
I would like to hear a full version of 5 minutes alone 😊

That Pantera riff as Slipknot was fucking banging. 🤘
The "5 minutes alone" riff really sound like some cannibal corpse song 3:18
it would be nice if this series have the same riffs for every band so we can compare between riffs
Bro when you did blind it literally sounded straight off of the self titled album 🔥
All of these sound so fkn good!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks! :)
E1M1 is just if Mick Gordon joined Slipknot
Great job, Mr Pete
Thanks! :)
Glad to see you back man!
Can we get some of my boys from Sevendust in one of the next videos?
How about a classic:
Sevendust - Praise
Thanks! I'll see what I can do :)
@@peteplaysmusic Sweeeeet, keep doing what youre doing, man, its awesome
You missed an opportunity to write "Why Knot?" but we're gonna let it slide cause the riffs are sick!
Welcome back, you were missed !
Thanks! It’s good to be back :)
smoke on the water, OMG you blow my mind and my ears bro ! amazing perfomance, SOunds like an 100% percent slipknot song !
Doesn't sound like Smoke On the Water, tho.
Great job! I always thought Black Sabbath and Slipknot would go great together. Also, I was thinking about buying that exact guitar.
Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how that one turned out. And yeah, it's actually a real nice guitar. My only issue with it is the volume knob positioning but that's very normal for me haha :)
Nice to see you Pete)
I don't have a riff suggestion but instead I have an "in the style of suggestion," and that's in the style of Meshuggah. Bust out that 8-string!
Noice!! Next ALL legendary riff in style of Pantera... You know... Since you have that floyd rose guitar 😁
How about if Zeppelin wrote different metal riffs?
Fun video idea, for sure, but I don't know how I feel about the flow. One of the things I liked about the 1 Riff 20 Bands video was how each style flowed, like it was all one big song. Welcome back dude! Backwards day!
(: !kcab eb ot doog s'tI. !sknahT
Great work as always!
We need Nik Nocturnal to react :)
I’d love that haha! Send this his way :)
These are so good
Thanks! :)
This was amazing.
Thanks! :)
See it shouldn’t be that hard for slipknot to write riffs like this again.
blind killed me dude, so awesome!
Wow, love them.
Scary good, as per usual with you!
And if I may... could you potentially use Alter Bridge - Cry of Achilles?
That E1M1 sounds amazing
I now want Slipknot to release an album of these covers... bonus if they can have Pete play on them as well
Love DOOM in the style of slipknot.
Could we get a full version of it?
Or get it in the style of what you think it would sound like if metallica did it?
035 would need a full song with vocals. \m/
please do a What if Slipknot played Fear Factory ( Scapegoat, Replica, Edgecrusher, Linchpin, Cyberwaste) and What if Fear Factory played ( Surfacing, left behind, before I forget, Gematria, devil in I) since there's a couple connections between the bands.
Right off the bat, your version of Iron Man sounds like the System of a Down version.
Blind sounds like Coal Chamber
Riffs in Pantera style, let's go!
Pete nailed this
Thanks! :)
Blind was just simply Before I Forget. I guess that was bound to happen with a 023 riff in there somewhere. Lol.
It just worked so well haha :)
Can you make an album on Spotify for full songs? I'm sure lot will be happy to pay for it.
Pete is back!!
Feels good! :)
So cool!
Thanks! :)
do its been awhile by staind in the style of slipknot
Please do the next video in the style of Necrophagist PLEASE
That would be insane haha. Love Necrophagist :)
our time is now - gojira
The e1m1 one (1 hehe) was really good
5 Minutes Alone reminded me of Soilwork for some reason.
Blind from Korn was for sure the best fit for a Slipknot song..
That Iron Man rendition could also be a St Anger one.
Broo, what drum plugin do you use? That snare is NASTY!
It’s Superior 2 with The Metal Foundry SDX on the SnotLip preset :)
@@peteplaysmusic thanks, man!
Which amp sim do you use?
This is Neural DSP Archetype Nolly :)
Nailed the snare
Thanks! :)
Oh, how they do ❤❤❤❤
What do you use to write drums?
This is Superior 2 with The Metal Foundry SDX but I use MixWave Gojira for most things now :)
Oh man, can you do riffs in the style of Lamb of God? Like ‘Walk’ by Pantera, or ‘More Human Than Human’ by White Zombie?
Full song Blind!!
So good
Thanks! :)
Lightning to the Nations - Diamond Head
Since they both tune to A standard, korn riffs in the style of Nile. Or vice versa
Blind by Korn in the style of Slipknot kinda slaps hard.... Like, you are middle of a fight just throwing punches, or killing monsters in a game! Suffice to say I loved that a lot!
Speaking of slapping hard, how about different bands in the style of Gojira, or Meshuggah?
my 8 string electric is a harley benton too, the cheapest and is awesome
The Harley Benton’s are great cheap guitars :)
Maybe the main riff from Fear, by Heaven and Hell?
