Lol, the riffage is just too busy and chord heavy to be somehow different. Although the drums in the video have a really heavy sound, but the drumming style was pretty uninspiring... I guess that's to be expected, haha
Am I the only one who wants to know how you mix the songs? You got the best sounding recordings of all the channels I follow. Massive! A video on that topic would be very interesting!
Hello Farvann, you have Pete to thank for him re-exposing me to black metal with his 1 Riff 20 Bands series, which eventually led me to subscribe to your channel.
Back in the 90's there was "the blackest albums" 1, 2 and 3. They were suppose to be metal covers of metallica songs. Instead they turned put to be crap. This is what I expected out of them. Atleast almost 30 years later I got a glimpse of what it was suppose to sound like🤘🤘🤘
I'd be interested to hear what this sounds like without the distortion and drench the thing in reverb instead... death metal is effectively surf rock just by changing the pedals.
Wow. Awesome vid. Some of the faster original songs didn't change too much but what you did with the 90's stuff like Fuel and Memory Remains were awesome.
@@njr386 Don't be. That was amazing. You made my day. On a side note, I think a death metal cover of Megadeth would basically be melodic, technical death metal.
You're from another planet mate. No one inspires me more, plays great music as you, and remains humble as one could. Thank you for the entertainment and inspiration, it keeps me going. ❤❤👌🏼👌🏼
Devastating playing as always, but further normalizing the idea that people have to modify their natural body hair to be presentable/attractive is a downer. Obviously if someone wants to personally, free from societal pressure, then power to them. But that’s not where companies selling this stuff make their money-they make it by convincing people, one ad at a time, that they should feel ashamed of their natural selves. And that’s just a lie.
Interesting perspective. I would venture to guess that an aspect of this issue is that companies know that women tend to like less hairy men. Sex sells. Although... there are some out there, as rare as mermaids, that like shacking up with Sasquatch-looking guys like myself.
Creeping Death: Necrophagist Fuel: new Cannibal Corpse Battery: Altars Of Madness era Morbid Angel Sad But True: Bloodbath or The Bleeding era Cannibal Corpse The Memory Remains: Arch Enemy Damage Inc: Morbid Angel again
I remember watching videos where somebody low tuned metallica...and it sounded AWFUL everytime. It is fun to see that the actual way to do it, was to translate them into a different genre, not just low tuned them. I loved how they sounded in death metal. Another fun finding is to see how Sad But True, the heaviest riff ever (disagree? cry me a river), is not so anymore if moved to another genre!
Not that it matters, but being an old guy and knowing some people from the death metal scene at the time, by the time Master of Puppets was done and And Justice for All had come out, there was a question of 'it's this borderline death metal now?'. Metallica was almost entry level stuff to bands like via Sepultura and Sodom to Entombed and Deicide. I still think the first Onslaught album was the first death metal album, despite it being filed under 'thrash' for another strange, but maybe valid point in 'heavy music' history.
Excellent Pete ! You make metallica riffs sound like modern metal ! (but Lars Ulrich should have 2 legs and arms more to be able to play the drums you've used)
The early stuff, from when Metallica was still a METAL band) sounded forced and incoherent. The later stuff (from their later sellout days) was greatly improved by the Death Metal treatment.
Damage Inc. actually sounded decent. The others sound a bit more like deathcore or modern death metal, which is fine. I'm more of a fan of old school death metal like Morbid Angel. I wonder how Morbid Angel would cover a song like Whiplash, my favorite Metallica song.
Creeping death and fuel were really sick, battery, sad but true and the memory remains were meh, damage inc was also good. The first two were sick though
Dude all the respect and admiration for your work! I've been watching you since your apex videos. But now seriously dude! You should pursue your own stuff. This content is overdone. Yes all bands can be done in the style of other bands. You have so much potential and skill in your own identity. Your music was so good that it made me listen to it on repeat. and i still get on your channel, to this day, to listen to your music from those old vids. I think you should take a risk and change this safe style of content to a more YOU.

I love how Battery is just Battery
😂
Is Deathmetal already?)
But does it dj...oups, wrong channel
Lol, the riffage is just too busy and chord heavy to be somehow different. Although the drums in the video have a really heavy sound, but the drumming style was pretty uninspiring... I guess that's to be expected, haha
Melancholy Pessimism did a death metal cover of Battery. Look it up, it's actually pretty great
Downtuned

Hello Farvann
Yes, Bruder
Wow, SUDDENLY Farvann :)
Hello Farvann, you have Pete to thank for him re-exposing me to black metal with his 1 Riff 20 Bands series, which eventually led me to subscribe to your channel.
Battery became grindcore!
if not seeing title the only riff i recognize are only Battery lol
really brutal riff!! oof!!
Back in the 90's there was "the blackest albums" 1, 2 and 3. They were suppose to be metal covers of metallica songs. Instead they turned put to be crap. This is what I expected out of them. Atleast almost 30 years later I got a glimpse of what it was suppose to sound like🤘🤘🤘
Battery is already too good!!!)))
Basically it's Metallica with a good drummer
I'd be interested to hear what this sounds like without the distortion and drench the thing in reverb instead... death metal is effectively surf rock just by changing the pedals.
That fuel riff is 1 pick scrap away from being a Gojira riff 😂😂. Love it.
Sounded like Skinless
too low tuned for goj
Yeah, add pick scrape and you have Gojira. Also Sad but True sounds similar.
I'd love to hear one of these as a full song with vocals. I don't care which, they're all great 🤘🏻
@Acid Bong I'm familiar with that cover 🤘🏻
The Memory Remains sounding kinda Carcass-esque is not something I thought I needed in my life
Drums are too in time and consistent
Battery reminds me of Suffocation for some reason. Awesome stuff Pete! 🤘🏻
I think it's the hardcore punk influence
you forgot to put Fight Fire WIth Fire because the original riff basically Death Metal-ish
Yeah, as I remember there are some live recordings of that song where James actually almost growls in the verses
Fuel sounds sooo much like Cannibal Corpse it’s crazy
Phrygian dominant death metal. I'm into it
The Sad But True mix genuinely sounded like something Bloodbath would write
Maestro, excelente toque, saludos desde Colombia, Sur América.
Man... I can feel the arm pain just by watching you playing 😂
The Memory Remains could be in Swansong easily
His take on Sad but true is so much alike Eaten by Bloodbath 🤘
Did not realise this is exactly what I needed today - sometimes there's just no substitute for chunky low-tuned riffing
Would be great if you could do a full version of Battery or Damage Inc. in this style. I would love to do some vocals for this
Wow. Awesome vid. Some of the faster original songs didn't change too much but what you did with the 90's stuff like Fuel and Memory Remains were awesome.
All this video managed to do is further convince me that Battery is one of the greatest metal songs ever written. It just works.
Need a full cover of Fuel and Sad But True. So heavy
Would've loved to hear Dyer's Eve and Fight Fire With Fire.
listen to the cover of Fight fire with fire by Vader then 😉
@@Paroketh revocation has a cover of Dyers Eve
Dyers Eve is just death metal on its own.
Damage inc was pretty nice.
Sad but true kinda sounds like Bolt Thrower but slower.
The Memory Remains is very Carcass-like. Just change the title to 'The Memory OF Remains'.
I'm pretty sure the entire Master Of Puppets album would sound awesome in death metal style. only Sanitarium would require some creativity IMO
So Metallica with Gene Hoglan at drums. Nice.
Nice
Yeah! This variation of "creeping death" is what Metallica should be!
So Death Metal Metallica (Death Metallica, if you will) is basically Revocation. Gotcha.
Needs more blast beats.
I’ll hit up Samus and ask him for more haha :)
@@peteplaysmusic lol now im just imagining Samus from Metroid casually violating a poor drumset.
That Sad But True mix goes absolutely bonkers hard
No word of a lie, Metallica should play that version of Fuel live. What a killer take on that song...
I need a "What If Megadeth Played Death Metal" now!😋
that's just Testimony of the Ancients by Pestilence
Mega Death Metal
I am sorry.
@@njr386 Don't be. That was amazing. You made my day.
On a side note, I think a death metal cover of Megadeth would basically be melodic, technical death metal.
I think Creeping Death would sound sick slowed up and groovy as Doom Metal
This one man just single handedly made Metallica 31846x better lmao
All of these smack so hard. Full cover pretty Plz?
Fuel its just Cannibal Corpse
Sad but True made twice as heavy
It sounds like Bloodbath honestly, very cool.
Hello
Today is my birthday
And I going to watch nice video 😄😄😄
Happy birthday! :)
Sad but True - excellent melodeath
Fuel was dope. So was sad but true.
Damage Inc sounds awesome!

01:48 God Of Emptyness
This shit goes hard
I can just hear corpse grinder belching out the lyrics in my head
Metallica is the BEST death metal band E.V.E.R
DEATHTALLICAAAAAAAAAA
Creeping Death: Necrophagist
Fuel: new Cannibal Corpse
Battery: Altars Of Madness era Morbid Angel
Sad But True: Bloodbath or The Bleeding era Cannibal Corpse
The Memory Remains: Arch Enemy
Damage Inc: Morbid Angel again

When it comes to Death Metal, why always 7-string guitar?))) Chuck Schuldiner wouldn't approve)
Anyone else feel like this all kinda sounded like Deep Blue/Boneyards erra Parkway Drive?
Yeah, would definitely listen to that :) Great performance as always mate!
Fucking awesome, dude!! Slayer next!! 🤘🤘
Cool
The one thing you definitely fixed was.....removing Lars
KoRn
Did My Time

This is... like Metallica but with the late Nick Menza in the trap during the writing/recording...
Everything could be, but Lars...
Metallica but it's Humanity's Last Breath/Vildjarta
Sad But True literally slamming brutal death metal lmaooo
Just saw them at Download!!!! Perfect timing!
Sad but true sounded like evisceration plague by Cannibal corpse lol
Manscape. Wear Cape. Fly…..but it’s thrash metal
Damage Inc, reminds me of Aborted 😂
Death Metal Megadeth would be interesting.
Creeping death and fuel were really sick, battery, sad but true and the memory remains were meh, damage inc was also good. The first two were sick though

You're a great guitarist, but none of those songs are recognizable as Metallica. It's good you add a subtitle because without it nobody would know .
Memory Remains me of old school KSE a bit.
Is it me or when pete played fuel the style He was playing was sounding Like the style of cannibal corpse
The second half of battery sounds like black dahlia murder
Cool video but something about the style makes it sound more homogenous than the originals. Needs the dynamics of thrash.
You ever get bored with Metallica? I got bored in the 90's already lol
i missed some juicy pitch harmonics for sad but true.
sad, but true i guess?
Pete as in how does one acquire a PC beanie???? Been watching your channel and have been wanting one for a while.
The Memory Remains sound like MushroomHead
AWESOME!!
I was hoping to hear st anger and the clangy snare in a blast beat.
Death metal makes everything better
low tuned a# power chords chugs just hits different
Sad but true = "Eaten" by Bloodbath, nice!
Dude, your sound is pure cool!!!! Thanks 😊
If they sounded like this,i would like Metallica.
Funny that there's actually a death metal band named Creeping Death
