It is very easy to cook sinigang just boil pork or beef till tender then add tomatoe and onion chop after few min. Add sinigang mix you can buy this in store or market and also vegies kangkong sili panigang taro root, radish, ocra and egg plant after sinigang mix add a little fish sauce and add all the vegies but you have put the taro to make it soft add salt to taste and you are done

Saw you both a while ago in Shangrila Mall. You guys look cute together. Also look better and younger in person :) I should have said hi.
But Locavore has some really fancy or avant-garde takes on some Filipino food like that sizzling sinigang and the deconstructed Kare-kare (another dish with thick peanut soup/sauce). Not your every day kinda Filipino food. But I like to eat there too sometimes.

  • @elykyle

sisig doesnt necessarily mean it's sizzling/served on a hot plate. sisig originally meant "to make something sour", the og version was just soaking things in vinegar. the more contemporary version is is boiling, grilling, and frying pork but it doesn't necessarily have to be, it just needs to match the look of sisig lol (aka. hella chopped)

Sinigang is a style of cooking. There is no traditional sinigang. It is a style of cooking with souring agents like sampaloc and bayabas. There is sinigang beef, pork, chicken (sinampalukan) shrimp, fish. In Visayas they call it kadios with black beans added

Bagoong, say bah-go-ong, it's fermented shrimp paste, similar to sambal olek but the Filipino type can be just very salty or can be spicy but the emphasis is on the salty. Use sparingly like you use soy sauce.

Personally I think locavore is too modernized versions of pinoy food. I generally don't recommend it.
Sinigang is definitely a soup dish and that thick locavore version is something I really don't appreciate.
For sinigang recipe try looking for panlasang pinoy on RUclips

Ginatang means it is prepared with coconut milk.
It can be a dessert or an entree with meat and vegetables, or seafood too.
You should ask a good translation from a waiter who speaks good English.
Otherwise I see you making so many incorrect assumptions about the food because the Filipino word are unfamiliar to you.
Your waiter didn't tell you that luglog and palabok are two variations of a type of noodle dish, difference being cornstarch noodle vs rice noodle.
BTW you should use Google Translate or Apple translate.
