Realtor here, and former AAV resident. Lotsa comments saying that residents in BGC aren't exactly rich/ only middle class. That's not accurate. Sure the very rich indeed live in the exclusive gated communities, but there are plenty as well who live in the high end BGC condo's. Essensa, Pacific Plaza, Arya, and especially Horizon Homes at Shangri-la, are only a few examples of condo's that range from 30M to 300M (yes meron, yung sa Horizon Homes), with actual unit owners residing in their units. The condo dues alone, paid monthly, are the equivalent of a monthly amortization, ranging from 30k up. Not to mention condo utilities for daily AC use. They're that rich. It's the same in Rockwell, lotsa ultra rich living in the high end condos. Rizal Tower is a prime example.
Also, Acqua is not in Manila. It's in Mandaluyong -- a city on its own. Rockwell is not in Manila. It's in Makati -- a city on its own. BGC is NOT in Manila. It's in Taguig -- a city on its own. "Manila" refers ONLY to the capital city located at the west coast of the NCR. Such an irresponsible vlogger considering it's not hard at all to name your locations properly -- we have Google.

BGC is one of the best place to visit in the Philippines.. Most of the rich people live in a gated community and they have their own bodyguard.. Just enjoy your visit and adventure in the Philippines.. Blessings to you my friend
Usually when it is local coffee, what comes to mind would be Barako coffee from Batangas. Not sure though when you made your video, if it is this late Oct period, unfortunately, Batangas is in a state of calamity due to the aftermath of storm Kristine. I remember when I went back to the Philippines, I enjoyed having coffee and pastries at a pastry shop called Cafe Mary Grace. But it is common that the favorite go to shop for coffee is usually Starbucks.

The people you asked for best place for coffee are not residents of BGC so they won’t know. Caravan Black, Angkan and Because Coffee are good choices. We live in BGC. The people who work at the shops do not make enough money to buy good coffee.
Mandaluyong is only the 8th richest city in the Philippines. there are cities richer than Mandaliyong. Hope you can visit all of them . Just take note that each city has its own rich and poor area and they usually are just a stones throw away from each other. . Keep vlogging about our country. Enjoy!
The young lady from Cebu displayed a charming presence. By choosing to wear "maong" pants without sunglasses, she highlighted her cute and beautiful features, which really stood out. It's a great reminder of how simple choices can enhance one’s natural beauty.
In PH not all rich people live in luxury condo units, building residential suites, yes they have several units for a quick stay but most of the rich lives in a gated community subdivision or townhouses. Some lives outside the big cities on the country side with their own farmlands and resorts on a wide property some near beaches or hillside overlooking towns and cities close to nature far from traffic and hectic city life. For long term it's advisable to have your own lands/properties rather than live in a building unit that would decrease in value when the whole structure gets old and unsafe to live in.
Brgy is short for barangay. Some filipinos is not yet quick to find english words to reply to you. They can smile out of shyness too..they are shy not only to you but to other filipinos who would hear them speak to you in English and later get teased😊
The place you are staying at is Acqua Residences, it is a middle/upper middle class comminity, the one across is Rockwell which is upper middle class, both communities are for the more affluent, including also BGC. For the really rich, there are a lot, like Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village, Urdaneta, Ayala Alabang, Greenhills, Corinthians etc etc....believe me a lot more areas 😊

Hi, I think you should try a couple of local Filipino coffee shops in BGC, namely 'Angkan' (means 'Clan', or 'Family Lineage'); they have two branches in the area, and the other one is Toby's Estate Coffee on High St. You should check them out and see what you think. You're kinda smart ass. The kids definitely told u the truth. Educated kids in Ph will not troll u. Theres a lot of access going to BGC. They were pointing on the direction where u can go if you get a ride. Walking from Rockwell(the area when u asked the kids) is not a popular route for a commuter. I Stopped watching the vid when u said those kids were trolling u. Since u are such a smart ass. Just stop asking q and go as u planned.
I like how the ladies from Cebu were so honest of not knowing any coffee shop in the area and not just mentioned any coffee shop that seems popular in the country like Starbucks, plus they promoted Cebu for it has locally owned and operated coffee shops.
I lived in Germany where houses look the same except those in cities but no high rise condos like where u live in Manila. We Filipinos live differently depends on the status here in Manila where there are richest, rich, poor and poorest. You might be surprised how the Russians live in Russian Village in Samal island where they live simple life in the nature near beaches. Correction those young boys didnt tell u the wrong way to bgc, u just dont know how to go on the other side.
Love the way you're impressed and in wonder at everything. Keep up the great work. Good nice first impressions of Manila. Well done. 😍 But you'll need to come back again and again to get the full picture. Get a guide.
FYI, The Ayala Group of Companies began building BGC in 2000. Bag of Beans is local and grows it's own Iberica or Barako. Their most picturesque branch and main one is in Tagaytay where several foreign vloggers love going.
Those kids you asked gave you a right direction to BGC. If you followed their direction you'll end up in the area where you will find Uptown Mall, Mitsukoshi Mall, Grand Hyatt Hotel, and more shops.
You are wrong when you tried to ask for the best local coffee chain as some Filipinos can't afford to buy from shops, they'd rather get a pack of coffee in sachet that worth 5 pesos than a cup of coffee that worth 50 sachets 😅
Filipinos are very friendly and welcoming especially to foreigners. I think Philippines is the most foreigner friendly country in the world which makes it special.
You asked people, and almost all you doubted. If you don't trust them, then don't ever ask. It just shows what place you came from. Your culture is about distrust and doubt.
BGC? wrong place to get a local brand of coffee, like what the ladies said got to cebu and other provincial places, but my recommendation go to north area of the Philippines. and if you want to experience the true face of the Philippines, go outside the BGC man👌 thank me later!
The ones you talked to are the middle class. If you wanna talk to the crazy rich filipinos, go to Forbes Park Makati, Ayala Alabang Village, Dasma Village, Urdaneta Village, Corinthian Gardens, Greenhills San Juan and Wack Wack village. ✅
I think many of the crazy rich philipinos are talked about as having security, and may not be as approachable. Oh well. Life varies. Your mileage may vary. Keep on with the positive content. Try different neighborhoods around Manila.
He should learn to name his locations properly though. At the start, he is NOT in Manila. He is actually in Acqua Residences which is at the border of Makati and Mandaluyong. Also, BGC is not in Manila either. It's in Taguig.
Wow.. How can someone manage to be so annoying in the first 15 seconds it that I almost close the video altough the topic was interesting for me. Plus, misplacing the areas on where you can find what in Manila, but talking like you know, is also. And all the people you ask told you that you are in the wrong place and that the areas called different, they are not messing with you, the problem are you who cannot admit that you just dont know it right. Believing you are right and all the others are wrong is problematic behaviour.
Bo’s Coffee is a local coffeeshop chain that existed even before Starbucks came to the Philippines. It was born in Cebu and expanded all over the country - there’s one at BGC. If you had been to Cebu, you probably know the brand by now and I hope you liked it 😊
Trick answer, if I say many times it can be construed as “ so you like it” but just two times and second time I didn’t pay and was still lousy. Most restaurants there are lousy.
@jlmarc01 because you actually don't know what to order and where to go. Chefs didn't study for many years just to become mediocre cooks. There's something wrong with you. 😊
I have talked residents of 5 star condominiums who are also property owners of exclusive Villages. They say it is more safety and convinient to live in condominium. Visitors are well screened than in the gated villages before they are allowed to enter. Many condo buildings are equipped with cctv cam wherein the residents can view their visitors during confirmation done by the guard. But the disadvantages in condo is that there are many prohibitions. Example: dogs and other pets are not allowed.
Thanks for the BGC tour! I’m watching from Los Angeles. Hope to visit again and hopefully my husband can experience the Philippines someday. Sisig is favorite!
Your looking for a local coffee, we call this "BARAKO". The coffee beans grinded. But we boil it in a pot only bcoz we don't have coffee maker. We prefer Nescaffe or 3 in 1 sachet. Only in the province boil this coffee beans from their harvest plant. Better look Barako Coffee shop. ❤ LOCAL Foods try Barrio Fiesta. In the community look Carenderia sell local food. It's like small restaurants. Cheaper to eat there. Try Jollibee and Mang Inasal ❤❤❤
"Kumusta ka" is singular. If you ask a bunch of people you say "kumusta kayo" or just say hi. We filipinos dont really say it unless the person we're talking to is a person we havent seen in awhile. So just say "hi".
Thanks for vlogging the philippines.,that other nationalities have misconceptions about situation here. But the warm welcome, english speaking people and very accomodating, thats our trademark.Be careful and stay safe..Nice to watch.

There are 18 business districts in Manila NCR . The best are Alabang , Ayala center , Ortigas Center , Aseana bay city , and BGC .
@@uchniezt1212 Pretty sure he meant Metro Manila. He just missed out on the "Metro".
I was critiquing the commenters in particular as well, not the vlogger.
BGC is one of the best place to visit in the Philippines.. Most of the rich people live in a gated community and they have their own bodyguard.. Just enjoy your visit and adventure in the Philippines.. Blessings to you my friend
BGC is not in Manila. It's in Taguig.
Welcome to the Philippines Sir.. Even I'm not arround yet in Philippines.. I'm a filipino I'm working here in Saudi at the moment... Thanks for the nice intro Song that amazing energy.. Thank you and hoping you gave a good time in our country pls feel at home.. God bless and always Goodluck for what you've doing... Have a good time always...
Those people living in what you call poor neighborhood are rich actually because they own the land, unlike those in the condo.
Alot has moved to Paranaque, Antipolo and the like.
The people you asked for best place for coffee are not residents of BGC so they won’t know. Caravan Black, Angkan and Because Coffee are good choices. We live in BGC. The people who work at the shops do not make enough money to buy good coffee.
Fact
Thanks for the positive vibes. Keep it coming, people need it 👍
Mandaluyong is only the 8th richest city in the Philippines. there are cities richer than Mandaliyong. Hope you can visit all of them . Just take note that each city has its own rich and poor area and they usually are just a stones throw away from each other. . Keep vlogging about our country. Enjoy!
Great info, thank you!
@@BrentTimm It's not hard to name your locations properly is it? We have Google. Use it.
None of this video is in Manila. NONE. You got it all wrong.
True some richest pinoys preferred in rural country side areas ! They simply want to lived simply happy and have a long life!
But mostly condos now.. just my own thinking 😊
Many also prefer Tagaytay Hilands or South Forbes and Greenfield Nuvali.
They have both
@Gregory-Masovutch 😂 nope. South Forbes isn't Forbes park😂... south Forbes is middle middle class. Forbes park is upper class
your so generous! I already watched your Tondo vlog. keep safe always! Welcome to the Philippines!
Brgy is short for barangay. Some filipinos is not yet quick to find english words to reply to you. They can smile out of shyness too..they are shy not only to you but to other filipinos who would hear them speak to you in English and later get teased😊
BGC isn’t just a local hangout; it’s more of an international enclave.
Thanks for the inside scoop on the Manila real estate scene!
@@BrentTimmnot entirely correct...the Rich have both Houses in gated communities plus...condos in bgc/makati ..too many people talking nonsense. There's no steadfast rule...and majority don't walk around with bodyguards either! 😂 Filipinos love to watch too many movies and teleseryes 😂 only very few people living in those mentioned gated communities have bodyguards!😂
That is not the Miami of the Philippines. Middle class people live there. The Truly wealthy people live in Ayala Alabang, Makati, Corinthian Guardens or White Plains
im a filipino working here in Saudi Arabia FOR 11 YEARS and i never been in BGC THANKS FOR FEATURING THE PLACE IM SURELY WILL SOON VISIT BGC ...
Yeah I have never been to BGC too after leaving the country (and visiting occasionally) in 1998.
Welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭 thanks for coming in the 🇵🇭 just relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the phil.island
Hi, I think you should try a couple of local Filipino coffee shops in BGC, namely 'Angkan' (means 'Clan', or 'Family Lineage'); they have two branches in the area, and the other one is Toby's Estate Coffee on High St. You should check them out and see what you think. Enjoy your time in the Philippines and stay safe.
I subscribed because i am fascinated with your positivity. Mabuhay !
I enjoy watching your vlog Welcome to our country Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Respect to you bro for being mindful of the crowd during your visit to the restaurant.🙏🏽
I see a lot of restaurant reviewers doing their thing shouting over others!!🎉 new subscriber!!
good rule of thumb, ask the well dressed younger people around 20-30 who knows their stuff around the city, not the old people or the employees haha
we love your courage bro!
still be more cautious although we are loving and friendly people!
Enjoy Metro Manila...there is so much to see and do......Must visit the Manila Bay Area......Okada Manila, Newport City, SM Mall of Asia and by the Bay....China Town and Intramuros.....
Vibing with your energy. Don’t let the local alley way discourage you from experiencing it. You’ll be surprised…
Pinoys are about nescafé at home. We're not really about café culture yet the way Japan is. But imho "Because Coffee" in BGC with their campfire coffee with a "water back" is my favorite & most unique. Sundays are about going to parents for the free food no matter the age. lol. Thanks for your video, kuya Brent! (edit: oh wait, there it is at 17:27)
Wow, thank you so much for this detailed explanation! Hope I earned your subscription!
@@BrentTimm Oh, absolutely. I thought my name would show up in your alerts as having subbed, but with 174k, i guess you gotta turn notifications off. See you in the next vid, kuya!
NICE to have you in our country. Enjoy and stay safe!
Made that walk from Rockwell to BGC. Over same bridge. It was fun. But didn’t make to uptown mall. Too tired.
Started at Glorietta 2
Nice to see you promoting our country Philippines! I enjoyed watching your videos here in the 🇵🇭❤️USA!keep safe Sir!😊enjoy your Vacation here….
Ate ang tim hortons is a canadian coffee brand , bro if u want a local coffee u must try barako coffee, robusta coffee in batangas province, but i think lots of coffee shop around NCR manila that support local coffee. U must try because coffee shop, pick up coffee booth and bo's coffee shop etc. 😅, btw brother safe travels and enjoy Ph 🎉
Middle class lives there. The real Filipino rich lives in Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village, La Vista, Ayala Alabang
Welcome to the Philippines.. enjoy & Godbless
I gave you a thumbs up for your energy and style. I love that you're so polite and kind to the Filipinos. Keep doing more videos like this and stay humble and I'll subscribe. I'm loving it here in the Philippines since we can get so many western products online.
I appreciate the love! Glad you’re enjoying the ride!
On Sundays Filipinos are at home with their family.
Thank you for the appreciation bro. Glad you like the place and the people. I just live near that bridge and yes the place is nice.
Awesome video man. I'll be there in 5 days
Hope you have a great time!
@BrentTimm Thank you
The kids were not lying, If u walked straight JP Rizal Extension, you Will reach univer of Makati, turn right and you Will see bgc uptown area.
Appreciate your comment! I'm always trying to learn more.
Yeah valentina.. jelena once live there...andrei is in vacation right now with his family
Yes, some of the poorest end up living in the cemeteries shared with the dead.
Love the way you're impressed and in wonder at everything. Keep up the great work. Good nice first impressions of Manila. Well done. 😍 But you'll need to come back again and again to get the full picture. Get a guide.
Welcome to the Philippines god bless you create good memories god bless you
You should visit Miami, New Orleans, Houston or any place in Florida in the summer, Manila is like that. High humidity will make it seem warmer
9:22 try Bo’s coffee when you see one. They have locally sourced coffee
FYI, The Ayala Group of Companies began building BGC in 2000. Bag of Beans is local and grows it's own Iberica or Barako. Their most picturesque branch and main one is in Tagaytay where several foreign vloggers love going.
I'm definitely putting Bag of Beans on my list!
Happy long haired hip. Welcome the manila😁🇵🇭😁
Those kids you asked gave you a right direction to BGC. If you followed their direction you'll end up in the area where you will find Uptown Mall, Mitsukoshi Mall, Grand Hyatt Hotel, and more shops.
Look for serving Batangas coffee, it’s the best!
😂 On Sundays, the reason the streets are not busy is because majority of people are normally in churches. They get out in the afternoon.
You will not notice the rich Filipino. They wearing sleepers and short.
Same in the US, they’re eating in Mc Donald with a coupon.
You are wrong when you tried to ask for the best local coffee chain as some Filipinos can't afford to buy from shops, they'd rather get a pack of coffee in sachet that worth 5 pesos than a cup of coffee that worth 50 sachets 😅
Brent, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf by the way is now a Filipino company. It was recently acquired by Jollibee Corp.
NO WAY! Wow, I see that brand all over. Thanks for subbing.
I am planning for a visit one day. Thank you for walking me through the process on what and where to go and eat!
9:00 Tim Hortons started in Canada. #Canadian
Welcome to the Philippines. Watching from Detroit, Michigan USA.
BGC? wrong place to get a local brand of coffee, like what the ladies said got to cebu and other provincial places, but my recommendation go to north area of the Philippines. and if you want to experience the true face of the Philippines, go outside the BGC man👌
thank me later!
Thanks Bryan! Heading up North in some videos coming out!
Lady, Tim Horton's is from Canada, Star Bucks is from United States.
haha yeah i didn't want to correct her.
You're a good vlogger 😊. Interesting to watch till the end .
Thank you for sharing.
He should learn to name his locations properly though.
At the start, he is NOT in Manila. He is actually in Acqua Residences which is at the border of Makati and Mandaluyong.
Also, BGC is not in Manila either. It's in Taguig.
@uchniezt1212 thanks for the information
Wow, shots fired for this triggered viewer! lol
Agree
Relax. Geez.
Bo’s Coffee is a local coffeeshop chain that existed even before Starbucks came to the Philippines. It was born in Cebu and expanded all over the country - there’s one at BGC. If you had been to Cebu, you probably know the brand by now and I hope you liked it 😊
6:14 "Birgy" 😂 ! BRGY = Barangay! 😅
The authentic Filipino coffee is called Barako and can be found in Batangas. Try Cafe De Lipa chain coffee shop
Wildflour is also Filipino bakery/restaurant and serves coffee also. 😊
And food is lousy and expensive
@jlmarc01 in short, you haven't tried it yet. 😊
@ not my fault you don’t know good food. Geez. Blame the school where these chefs went to. And find a better palate
You're such a good vibes. You just earned another subscriber here😊
Thanks so much, I’m glad you liked it!
Thanks for the BGC tour! I’m watching from Los Angeles. Hope to visit again and hopefully my husband can experience the
Philippines someday. Sisig is favorite!
BGC is not in Manila though. It's in Taguig.
So many irresponsible vloggers not even naming their locations properly.
Thank you so much Glenda! This is super helpful :) Hope I earned your sub.
"Kumusta ka" is singular. If you ask a bunch of people you say "kumusta kayo" or just say hi. We filipinos dont really say it unless the person we're talking to is a person we havent seen in awhile. So just say "hi".
New sub here. Love this video and thank you for visiting our beautiful country.
Thanks for vlogging the philippines.,that other nationalities have misconceptions about situation here. But the warm welcome, english speaking people and very accomodating, thats our trademark.Be careful and stay safe..Nice to watch.
your video quality is amazing. what camera are you using?
This was shot on GoPro 11 but I’m getting ready to upgrade!
@@BrentTimm Thanks!
I admire how you really immerse yourself in the places you go. I suggest to avoid miscommunication especially when you go to the inner parts of the Philippines is to speak slowly and in short simple sentences, simple words. Enjoy! love your content!
Thank you so much for the advice! I will keep that in mind. Hope you have a great da, Camille
