That guy from philpost should not have carried your phone like that. He should have copied the tracking number instead of bringing your phone with him. Phone is too personal for someone else to carry it around. Even local starbucks has this rule that they're not supposed to touch the customer's phone.

liempo is pork belly. basically bacon. it's most common cut because it's juicy because of the layered fat and meat.
if you like dry meat, you can go with pork chop.
other parts of the parts of the pig that's also famous in the Philippines is pata, pork hock. but those are usually cooked as crispy pata. the pata is boiled until the tendons and fats melt, air dried, and then, deep fried.

justin, since you're genuinely curious about the karenderia name, I'll try to explain.
the tagalog word is "pakboyz". it's an adopted word from the english word f*ckboys. the russian letters are just stand-ins that looks like the english alphabet.
it's a common filipino practice, the use letters from other languages to represent english alphabets. but we don't really use the letters as used in their original language. we just use it to represent the letter in the alphabet that looks like it. if that makes sense. lol

The letter A is pronounced like “Apple” - short A. When we recite it it’s A BA KA DA E (as in egg) GA HA I (as in India) LA MA NA NG (as in sing - nasal) O (Oscar) PA RA SA TA U (OO) WA YA.

Just be careful in some remote areas it's like anywhere in the world that there always be that small dangerous area of the hood that you can't show luxury things. It happens everywhere and even locals are victims too. But just in case it happens just calm down and don't fight back, these people just want something because they live a hard life. Enjoy strolling those areas and have fun!.

I am born and raised in Philippines but never been to any post office lmao. I'm also shocked that they are still traditional when transacting. I think the reason is because people prefer going to lbc, j&t, and other courier services instead of post office so they don't get enough funds to enhance their facility.

tbt it's usually the sender's fault why their packages get stuck in the office. not everytime, but it's a common mistake that there's something missing or wrong with the address. perhaps the brgy number, missing the actual street name etc. idk what happened why he wasn't contacted, but they usually contact you when that happens. at least in my case, they did.

pakboys are players in Filipino slang. We use forks because we usually eat rice and it's easier to scoop rice with a spoon plus many Filipino dishes have broth so we need it to scoop it.

  • @feg466
    @feg466 Год назад +3

Justine, when you are cutting the liempo with the spoon don't slide the spoon like a knife. Imagine the rocking motion of the foot of a rocking chair. You do that rocking motion with the spoon's round edge while pressing down hard on the meat.😊👍
"Paalam" is the English of "goodbye"
"Nice to meet you" in Tagalog it's long "masaya ("po") ako nakilala kita".
With the "po" word is a sign of deep respect to the person you just met.
Now, the word "opo" can be a replacement for the word for "yes", thats respectful instead of only "oo" which is "yes" in English. We use "opo" to say "yes" to elderly or people in authority. We also combine "yes po" meaning you are affirming or agreeing in a respectful way. Example an elderly or a person in authority asked you "have you claim your package in the post office already?" You can answer: "yes "po" i had it claimed yesterday morning "po". You can add another "po" for another much deeper respect to the person.
The word "po" can be used after word like "paalam po". Again a respecfful way of saying "goodbye"
    "hello po"
    "Kamusta po"
"Saan po" : "Saan" in English is "where"

Watching this vlog. Filipino language has a lot of Spanish words mixed in because of the Spanish colonization for almost 400 years until the Americans came. Like in sinigang using Sibuyas (onion) is actually cebullas in Spanish. The double letter LL is pronounced like letter Y. SILOG is short or slang for SInangag (fried or garlic rice) and itLOG (egg). Just add another meat like TAPA (fried marinated dried beef). Hence, TAP SI LOG / LONGSILOG (longganiza which is of Spanish oriGin or sausage).

Si(nangag) + (it)log - garlic rice and egg. we do word combinations like that a lot
We don't have knifes as utensils because our spoons do the knife's job.
Tagalog is a language spoken in the Tagalog regions and each of those regions have their own Tagalog dialects.
Because we have a looooot of languages and a loooot of dialects of those languages, the government made Filipino the lingua franca, supposedly, so that every Filipino can converse with each other. So our official languages are Filipino and English. That's why our signages are also in English.
People from Metro Manila generally speak Filipino(mix of Tagalog, Spanish, English, other Philippine languages, and now a lot of gay lingo which is spoken by everyone - women, men, lgbtq+, young, old, etc)

Sorry to burst your bubble, sizzling liempo is not a traditional filipino breakfast. Maybe next time try the Tapsilog (beef tapa and egg), or tocilog (cured pork and egg). Garlic rice is usually preferrd with vinegar on the side for dipping. Try the filipino hot chocolate and maybe calamansi juice. I would highly recommend to ask around and im quite sure youll be assisted graciously. Liempo (pork belly) is good but usually goes as comfort food, goes well with beer and spirits.

a lot of Filipino phrases combine English and Tagalog words. If the Tagalos phrase is "deep" or "old fashioned" Pinoys switch to English instead. We also have slang phrases to make it easier -- for example when saying goodbye we just say "sige na" (see-geh) or bye or see you.... instead of "paalam" which sounds like you don't plan to return anymore lol. A common respond to a thank you (salamat) is "walang anuman" (nothing to it) or "OK lang, walang anuman"

Sizzling pork liempo is more of a fusion style lunch item than a traditional Filipino breakfast. Traditional breakfast usually has "si log" which you already explained or goto which is a tripe porridge (taste vetter than it sounds). Love the video. Cheers!

While there are lots of new expensive condos and high rise buildings in BGC but no single family dwellings, all the expensive and exclusive villages including North and South Forbes Park, Damarinas, Urdaneta, BelAir, Magallanes and San Lorenzo (where the richest folks in the country as well as foreign expats reside) are in Makati. If you're into food, I suggest you visit the Saturday morning market in Salcedo Village and also the Sunday morning market in Legazpi village, both of which offer more interesting choices than Market Market in BGC.

You're seriously comparing DHL to a local courier? First off, the price you pay for DHL is very high compared to local post. Philippine post office charges for storage fee (the 100+ you paid.) There are some exemptions to this when it's completely free, like books, letters, postcards, etc. DHL is a private company that does door to door delivery that's why the receiver doesn't have to pay anything. It's also very expensive. Some international sellers can ship via DHL because we have dhl here. But are you willing to pay for the high cost of shipping via dhl? You won't have to pay for anything when it arrives here if you asked the seller to ship via FedEx /dhl.
Also, if the item that you order is more than ₱10,000, it is subject to tax. So don't order anything more than that if you don't want to pay taxes. The post office has their currency conversion chart if the amount is in foreign currency. It's the same thing in other countries, they also pay for taxes for international orders.
depending on what they order/amount etc.

So next time pick up your package from post office around 4 pm and proceed to Lakeshore to dine and stroll in the park.

usually a postman would give you a pick up slip that includes the post office location you need to pick up your parcel. You would need to pay 112(prepandemic prices).
And then items that cost P10,000 or more would be taxed. So I am assuming the other foreigners think they got scammed(some locals do this too thinking they could get away with it). Some people would under declare the value of the items but the post office isn't stupid about items' values. Anything under P10k though isn't taxed so if the declaration is right and you were still taxed, that's when you complain. I've had lots of items through Philpost and have never had any problems in our post office.

Its not even about English proficiency. Its about comprehension.

"Nice to meet you" is also used here instead of tagalog word, for some reasons, its more adaptive language rather than in tagalog which say "kinagagalak kitang makilala, or nagagalak ako na makita ka"

Some of the letters may be Russian, but the owner just probably wanted to use a letter that looks like a letter "b" for style. Originally, the Filipino language didn't have certain letters which includes F and C. So if you convert the word Fuck to Tagalog, it would be Pak. The letter U in Tagalog often sounds like the the double o in boom. To cut it short, the name of the place where you had breakfast is Pakboys, and is literally just the Tagalog of the term Fuckboys hahaha

Filipinos do not use knife because the Spanish were paranoid of knife wielding locals during their rule. Any Filipino with knife & Eskrima Kali skills would overwhelm any Spanish even in full armor.
So we learned to do without knives. Basically we use the fork or spoon as an improvised knife.

Why do you have to pay when you’re just picking up your package? I don’t think you need to pay because it was already been paid by the sender. Did you get a receipt for the amount you paid? BGC is a city within the city of Taguig. That area is not BGC. Some places in Metro Manila can be cheaper than in BGC.

Post offices here are very lousy doing their job of notifying the owner of each packages they have. In their mindset, "well the owner will come here and contact us anyway so why bother notifying them". That's how big a lousy they are. I gave these post offices of 0.5 out of 5 stars.

19:39 I think 'Pakboyz' literally means 'F*ck boys'; they just chose a font that looks like Russian letters to alter the appearance and make it look cooler.
