@@deborahbergman3566You're right... It wouldn't be as bad if current hip-hop/Rap releases had catchy hooks and covered more diverse subjects. While the occasional "decent" rap tune slips through... Most of the crap rap now is that "mumble rap" ... Even seasoned old-school rappers criticize and have no love for this trend which stretches back approximately a decade. I consider Nelly's last big hit "just a dream" from 2011 or 12 I believe, to be the last great rap tune that was catchy, melodic. Praised by fans and critiics.. but marked the end (with occasional exceptions) of the style of rap that was popular in late 90s through early 2010's. Molly came along almost the same time as that release and had a huge impact on music .. mainly picking up where the Exctasy/Rave/edm scene had left off briefly... but returned with a more accessible sound with a more urban hip hop - hybridization with the 90s style Eurodance, trance, dubstep etc. .. within a couple years... Molly was Predominantly "hijacked" by these young new generation of hip-hop artists as well as lyrics promoting raunchy sex, drugs, material possessions of Great expense, etc (What Lorde was trying to convey in her 2015 smash hit - "Royals")

That brought it all back for me .A young 12yr old girl watching TOTP in 1973 .Roxy Music singing Streetlife and seeing Bryan it just hit me between the eyes !! From then on completely addicted !! I will always remember my Dad's face when he took me to Woolworths to treat me to an LP.
I chose Countrylife ! With the rude cover !
    It was £3.99 !

I'm a Roxy Music devotee. From the moment I heard and gasped at the audacity and sheer cleverness of In Every Dream Home A Heartache from For Your Pleasure, I latched on and have never let go. My music vocabulary was greatly expanded by them and the music and ATMOSPHERE their sounds absorbed into my psyche. In other words I LOVED THEM. Superb does not do them justice. When I heard they were going to be FINALLY nominated for the Hall, I marshalled my fellow Roxy friends on a get out the vote campaign to make sure the objects of our intense fandom would be heard and rewarded. The induction last year was a validation of why VOTING counts. I WISH I could have been at the induction ceremony. The choice of two members of Duran Duran to induct them was a no brainer. In my mind another person who could an equally as well induction was Nile Rodgers of Chic. He named his band as a homage to Roxy Music. That homage and Nile's deep musical knowledge and tastes mirror my own. I feel a kinship with him on multiple levels.
    VIVA Roxy Music!

Why is that so many American commentators can't just say 'Talking Heads' rather than 'the Talking Heads'?

I love Roxy BUT it's such a slap in the face to have The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ask A band that The Hall of Fame said would never be inducted introduce them.. Everyone knows that Duran Duran should be inducted themselves but because there are people involved in choosing have said they will all have to die before they would ever allow DD IN.. Just makes me sick.. Duran Duran deserves to be there but they will unfortunately never get that honor 😡

I agree about Elvis. The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is very political. Todd Rundgren came in "3rd" place in the popular vote for the 2019 Nomination and still did NOT get inducted.

I have a love hate feeling for `The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame`, insofar as the bar is just not high enough. Of course Roxy deserve recognition from the highest standards, but lets be honest about this `club`, it also lets very average bands in. Check out the list, especially over recent years where real talent has been short. I also think it cringing when this powerhouse was introduced by the `vacuous` Duran Duran. Roxy Music deserved better. Yes i am a musical snob, i call it...`standards`. Im quite confident most music lovers would agree. Just to be clear when i call myself a music snob, i mean the bar is as high as Van Morrison and as low as Duran Duran. Take from that what you want. VIVA ROXY MUSIC !

No, it was censured in the US and some other countries in 1974 when it first came out. What you are seeing is the original cover in the US.

What does that have to do with being woke? It has to do with prudishness.

Roxy Music are claimed to be influential but this isn't necessarily a good thing: witness, for example, Duran Duran.

Yeah what about Duran Duran??? Theyre phenomenal once you look beyond the pop star video image! And still around today! fantastic new album last year, touring sold out shows and still have a fan base who know a good thing when they see and hear it! They’re getting inducted in 2022 btw!
