      My mom really liked this guy's music and I remember she had just bought the Album (Boy's and Girls) and played it when she came home and at 13 or 14 I can't remember because I'm 52 now I was blown away with his music, and ever since I loved his music since then and then he just vanished it seemed from the Industry but I became a fan at a very young age with his music.

    FINALLY!!!!!!!! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame got a CLASS act!! They should have been in there YEARS ago. HUGELY influential and ahead of the game. I'm glad to have been a fan since 1972 and followed them and all the members since then. No one sounded like them during that time and they stood out. So clever, so forward looking, so smart, so elan, so decadent, so.. CHIC ( hello Nile Rodgers!!!). Some of the best concerts I have ever been to or seen were from Roxy and Bryan Ferry. Bryan is SOOO cool. He is my style icon. He is also a NICE guy to boot. I just WISHED that Eno would have showed up last night. It would have been so sublime. Oh well.. at least they are finally in. EVery Friday and Saturday nights we had tickets for rock concerts. Early show uptown at THE BEACON and late show downtown at
      THE PALLADIUM. LOU REED played THE BOTTOM LINE, every Christmas Eve and I got seated at
      GARLAND JEFFRIES table. IT WAS A GREAT TIME ! 63 years caught me January 1, 2020 and the music never stops!! When people comment, there's no good music out there, it blows my mind! Bryan Ferry and Roxy was and remains one of THE influential bands that arose in the '70s. The Beatles ruled the 60's without any doubt, but leading into the 70's one band that had that power to influence generations after really wasn't possible, so the top bands of that time was actually incredible. Think about it, Roxy Music of course, but also Bowie, Elton John, The Sex Pistols, T-Rex, Velvet Underground and Led Zeppelin. It's these bands that continue to influence the music of today. I was born in '71 and I'm extremely thankful to have grown up in the game changing era that was the '70s. Thank you to every musician from then and the 80's. Bravo!

    • @mightylonesome9426
      @mightylonesome9426 5 лет назад

      @So Angry I was definitely there. There were some good groups to emerge in the 70's but I don't think "dripping" best describes the introduction of new talent for that decade.
      The topic of "good music" obviously comes down to the type(s) of music that appeals to the individual and I respect that. I do agree that EWF and BOC represent some of the best talent to surface in the 70's or any decade for that matter.

    • @mightylonesome9426
      @mightylonesome9426 5 лет назад

      @So Angry I never said "I couldn't find anything" in the emergance of 70's music. I said there were a few bright spots. There were super groups that would emerge but the field was cluttered with a tremendous amount of junk, just my opinion.

    • @mightylonesome9426
      @mightylonesome9426 5 лет назад

      @So Angry 70's music was simply a derivative of what had passed before. The differece was the recording industries insatiable appetite to fill the airways with easily produced dance music that yielded high financial return. If you ask people what musical genre best defines the 70's, sadly, most will reply "Disco". I'm not suggesting that the talent wasn't there, it was. I'm saying that the number of great artitist to emerge during the 70's was in decline due to the cookie cutter noise pushed by the industry, thus my "few bright spots" comment. There was talent that defied the odds and managed to rise above the clamor because they were just too good to ignore.

      @@mightylonesome9426 And yet, probably the most groundbreaking record of the 70s was a "disco" song: Donna Summer's I feel love.

      very few? Let's see, apart from Roxy Music: David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Traffic, Hawkwind, Frank Zappa, Queen, Supertramp, Genesis, King Crimson, Sex Pistols, Thin Lizzy, Joy Division are pretty bright spots to me.

    I worked next door to Bryan's London home, in the early 80s. We'd occasionally get his post mistakenly delivered with ours. I'd see him passing by several times a week, and I was once behind him in a local newsagent's whilst he purchased a packet of Marlboro. He was tall, slim, sharply dressed and very handsome - just like his photos.

      The Rock and Roll HOF isn't what bestows legitimacy on a band like Roxy Music but what it CAN do is draw attention to their music and legacy to the larger public. I had a general awareness of Roxy Music as an early pioneering art rock band in the 1970s and I was certainly aware of Brian Eno's work with David Bowie and U2 among others but coming across this band since their induction I've taken a deeper dive into their catalog and really have gotten into them lately. I'm sure I'm not alone there.

    10th Legion : In 1984 I was in Germany with the Army . I bought a cassette " Avalon " I would listen to it on the bus ride from Butzweiler ( village I lived in ) to Trier ( oldest city in Germany )
    My girlfriend at the time , Renate , worked in Trier ! I went back in 2017 , we briefly got together , and I took the C.D. "Avalon " . Once again almost 35 yrs. later , I was
    listening to it in Butzweiler and Trier . It always reminds me of my time there. I just finished recording a C.D. project with Lon Van Eaton ( Apple Records ) about songs I wrote while in Butzweiler ( 1984-86 ) . I also just recorded a song about Trier . It was such an important time in my life and that Album takes me back every time I hear it . Thank you Brian / Roxy Music.
