    I get so much conflicting info on max CPU temps. I have this board in an IBP prebuild with a 13900KF. Common benchmarks also shoot temps up to 99/100C almost immediately. Idles around 50C which seems way high.
    You had similar max temps. Was your cpu throttling at that point? Is there any way to better cool this CPU/MB combo? Some people say this will fry fast at these temps while others say different.
    I see your bench with a pretty decent cooler still at water boiling temps. What was your idle temp on the 13900? What standard should I be applying?
    Thanks.

      It’s a tough one coz this board has PCIE 5 for the M.2 slot and the ASUS one has PCIE 5 x16 slot. They both don’t have the combined M.2 and x16 PCIE 5. So if you’re planning on gaming and getting a 40-series somewhere along the lines I would say the ASUS one. I would personally go with ASUS because the Gen4 M.2 is already blazing fast. I could live with it. Rather that than get a board that doesn’t support a GPU now or even next year’s releases.

    • @EasyMoneySG

      @@GLITCHEDZA If youre going with a 13th gen intel, stay away from that Prime board. you cant flash bios on that one without a 12th gen processor lying around to boot into so you can flash for the 13th gen.
      The MSI board has a button to allow you to flash the bios without a CPU installed.
      I was looking at the "A" version of the ASUS prime, and the MSI PRO and went with the PRO since i could flash without a processor.

    I have the Max version of this board in my 12600k PC. Works great. I haven't tried to OC it yet, but I think Im gonna turn it up a little bit and see how it goes. Problem is I really dont know what Im doing, but there are plenty of videos online, many using this exact setup, so it shouldnt be too bad. I have it under a 360 AIO, so I dont think Itll be too bad.

      you can so some slight overclocking in the BIOS or even install an Intel AI overclock tool. But if you slowly nudge it bit by bit, you should not have any problem. The good thing is you can't break anything with subtle overclocking. If things don't work you can always revert it back. good luck!

      @@GLITCHEDZA Is the Intel AI overclocking tool something anyone can download?? Or only people with certain hardware combos?? The part I don't understand and worry me is messing with the voltages. I don't know what a ring voltage is. I didn't see any AI overclocking options in my bios. Thanks for the help!! I se some P cores are at a different clock speed than other P cores, would I be OK clocking them all the same??

    • @stephenhood2948
      @stephenhood2948 4 месяца назад

      @@GLITCHEDZA Hey thanks for the help. I downloaded the Intel Extreme Tuner and it auto overclocked my CPU for me, just like you said. I'm running a 12600k at base frequencies of 4.9 and 3.9 on the P and E cores with a voltage offset of 0.25. I'm sure I could go further, and may in the future, but I was hoping to keep this setup for as long as possible and have no idea how far is too far. The Intel XTU made it so much easier than overclocking through the bios or MSI Creator.

    • @GLITCHEDZA
      @GLITCHEDZA  4 месяца назад

      @@stephenhood2948 Sorry I missed your previous reply I am travelling. but I am glad you managed to get it to work and it was easy. Remember that most Intel CPUs, like the one you have come overclocked already. That's why they run so hot. They are actually quite hard to get running "much" faster than they already are. So I think your subtle tweaking is perfect.

    • @stephenhood2948
      @stephenhood2948 4 месяца назад

      @@GLITCHEDZA Again, thanks for the help. I have a 12600k under a 360 AIO, so the cooling is probably a bit overkill, but Im ready for an i7 or i9 later if I want. Without the overclock my CPU temp never even moved from idle while gaming, though I was maxxing out an RTX 4070 with 20% CPU usage. If I run some benchmarking tools I would get 100% CPU usage and temps in the 60s with around 90 watts on the CPU. After the OC I ran prime 95 and got the temp into the mid 70s with 130 watts. I can probably go a little further, but this is my first time Overclocking with anything other than Afterburner on a GPU. Like you, it already boosts, and Im getting 90-100 FPS at 1440p Ultra settings without an OC. Ill probably just run it without the OC, I just wanted some benchmarks with the OC. I am having a weird thing with my GPU. Its a Galax RTX 4070. Sometimes its fine and sometimes the fan wont come on when gaming. Its easy to see the 11 FPS with no fan running. Restarting the game, sometimes the PC or sometimes the Galax extreme tuner OC tool is what it takes to get the fan going. I might try to delete the Galax tuning software and go with Afterburner, or even just run it with no OC. IDk why it does that though??

I'm running this board with a 12600kf and I only use one of the 8 pin connectors, the second is mostly for the top CPUs and even then it's still enough if you're not overclocking- that's mainly what the second 8 pin connector is for (each can pull 300 so you can potentially run a CPU at 600 watts if you have the right PSU, which is kinda nuts, my current PSU is only 500 watts!

    Hey, I have the MSI MPG z790 Edge wifi Motherboard (2022), is the new Samsung 990 Pro SSD compatible?

    • @GLITCHEDZA
      @GLITCHEDZA  Год назад

      That board doesn't have a dedicated Gen5 SSD slot so you can get an Edge Card and use the GPU PCI-E 5 slot and put your GPU into a PCIE 4 slot (if you don't have a 40-series GPU). Or you can just use the Samsung 990 Pro in the Gen4 slots. It will bottleneck the speed but it will still be hella fast.

    • @GLITCHEDZA
      @GLITCHEDZA  Год назад

      @@SDGRTX1455 Yes the Samsung 990 Pro is a Gen5 SSD so wont' run at its full potential on the PCIE 4 slot. But I don't think the speed difference will be drastic. Rather use the RTX 4090 in the PCIE 5 slot and the SSD in the M.2 slot. Basically, everything you have will work but ideally, you would want to use a motherboard with Gen 5 for both the SSD and the GPU to get the most out of it.

      @GLITCHEDZA  Год назад

      @@SDGRTX1455 Haha the latest stuff is quite confusing. Just know that Gen5 comes in various forms. You get Gen5 for both PCIE and M.2 SSD slots. Some boards only have Gen5 slots for M.2 and some only have Gen5 for PCIE. Some have both. The board you have only has Gen5 PCIE so your 40-series will work fine. The SSD you have is made for Gen5 M.2. It will work on Gen4 ( M.2 (the slot you have) but will be slower.

    Hi, I was planning to buy the ---> MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI DDR4 ATX

    CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
    GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 545

    I would appreciate if you could help me decide please?

    • @GLITCHEDZA
      @GLITCHEDZA  Год назад

      Unfortunately, the CPU you have are quite old and won't work on this motherboard. This board is made for a 12th or 13th Gen Intel CPU. I would suggest waiting until you have the cash to get the CPU and motherboard in one go. Else you'll be sitting with a motherboard and no CPU. The GPU will work but it will be constrained by the performance of PCIE 4 on this board. So basically, you'll need the CPU and motherboard first. The GPU will work but definitely upgrade it later on to a PCIE 4 card.
