I want to give an official shoutout to Intel for not changing the CPU socket for 14th Generation CPU's. 👍🏆 AMD fanboi's can finally shut up about Intel's CPU platform longevity.
Maining 12900KF 7900XTX going great. Am rebuilding board swapping the boards for the others 12700KF 3060 media pc build getting it's own Z690, and the B760M is getting put with a 12400F I got on sale earlier this week. So I'm moving the last 2 into new cases or unbuilding to rebuild idk. 12th has been a good value for upgrades. I have a lot of pcs coming from Spectre, moving on to 12th gen. I think I am sitting out 14th.
I'm really glad that you broke down the memory constraint differences from 12th gen/z690 and 13th/13.5th gen/z790. If you are trying to run 4 sticks of fast DDR5 ram, definitely going 13th gen+ and a solid board is where you start. Edit: Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX is my board and it's been amazing.
@@slimcognito. Reset and pressing F12 a million times per second does it for me... some use Delete or f2. If doing this is giving you a black screen and you have multiple monitors then just unplug a monitor... I had that issue recently, not sure why but it was an easy fix
I've been watching this channel for about six months, and it's been an absolute godsend for people entering the world of PC building. The information is very enlightening, and I picked up a ton of new knowledge that I have never had before. A big thanks for all the time and effort you put into helping us through our journey to build our first PC. Thank you, Jason!
Getting ready to build my first pc, your videos make it sooo much easier to find out what i want to go with and you make everything super clear and understandable. Thanks for the videos.
So glad you're finding the content helpful! Good luck with your first build! Don't forget to check out our How To Setup PC After Build video for more ;)
I used the Asus Rog Maximus Z690 Hero on my Grand daughters build and has no issues so far. Price is 50% less than the release. Really good bargain. This week the wife did buy a I9-14900K and flashed the bios on her Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master and it took. Than swapped the I7-12700 on Grand daughters board for wife's old I9-13900K. No issues with current bios. So I can confirm that most 1700 CPUs are interchangeable with the right board. Yes AMD gets all the love from us gamers but don't overlook the crazy prices with Intel 12 and 13 generations right now. Especially when you can basically get a high end last gen board and CPU from Intel at stupid low prices. Great information Jason on this. Your recommendations were spot on. Keep it up.
how do your wife keep the 13900k or now 14900k cool? Ive seen a lot of issues with this unless you water cool loop. I just ordered a rog strix 4090, intel 14900k, aus rog z790 a gaming board wifi II. Would really appreciate your response. Im debating returning the 14900k and board and swapping for AMD Ryzen 7800x3d just because it seems a challenge to cool the 14900k even with a 420 AIO
Just some constructive criticism: I think it would help people who are new to pc building if you included a grid on the screen while talking about compatibility. Similar to how y'all do the blue bubbles like @ 2:19. The would give people an all-in-one summary of the main differences
shoo badoo grid on the screen, why new people as you need that ? It's better that he tells how you bottleneck next gen gear on old CPU, Why XMP profiles on some old i5 on low power, that is the only thing these channels need to understand, basics ! If you buy old crappy CPU's on low power etc, what are you bottlenecking here ! East to tell in any content, that was all noobs need to understand.
@@lucasrem I am not new. I just think it would help new people if they saw a grid/table of the info all together. That way they wouldn't have to keep scrolling back in the video to compare
kHaki man 14700k on Z790, 2 DIMS only, one NVMe Rest are for the Office, low power CPU, you never need office gear at home. What Gen 5 drive ?? Gen5 NVMe ? on Z790, the Z790 AERO G, NOT ANY FASTER on the drives that are sold now, micron drivers are not any faster. Solid State Dive, any PCIe slot ! Not sure what you need, but you never need his LOW POWER CPU's !!!!! NO LOW POWER, understand it now, rest you can do in cards etc, but never buy the LOW POWER CPU's this guy is using. Why office crap at home ?
21:13 Jason I've picked MSI Z690 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 for $220 & i5 13500 for $280 about 6 months ago. I kinda regret that I should have gone with DDR5 and 13600K. What level of performance I'm losing here in CPU intensive titles like Battlefield 2042, Apex Legends and I also play story games like GoW RDR2 Right now I've RTX 3070 but sooner I'm going to get RTX 4080.
Last CPU's before my actual i5-11600K has been the i7-3770K and i've been totally overwhelmed by the hilarious number of available Bios-settings just related to the CPU. It took months and some Bios-Updates to be able to set everything up proper. The automatic values didn't work with the very first Bios versions wich leaded to "exploding" temperatures and even an unstable system (Bluescreens and such). There have been a vast of settings i never heard before so it has been extremely hard to figure out working values to run the CPU ... at least stable. Well, i just wanna say thank you for your amazing channel not only for beginners! Guessing i'll watch more of it soon because new hardware arriving xD
Recently built a Ryzen 7 7700x pc, selling it off and currently building a 13600kf build using the Asrock Z690 Velocita. Have had nothing but problems with the am5 platform and EXPO is nothing but stress. PC halts for 30 seconds before POST, CMOS resets, 7700x turning into a 95'c space heater under load. A real shame as was the first personal AMD Build since the 2nd Gen Ryzens
Thank you again Mr. Jason. I personally just picked up an Aorus master z790. Mainly for the second pcie slot running at x8 instead of x4 like most boards. I’m going to be using my 12700k in combination with my 3090 and an Arc A380 for a plex server/gaming rig. Although this board does not have thunderbolt I’ll be using a 50ft fiber optic usb 3.1 extension and a powered Lenovo usb hub along side a fiber optic hdmi for the 4K TV in my living room. Thanks to amazons second prime sale I was able to get the fiber optic cables for a great price. Already tested and I’m experiencing little to no latency
Z790 Master is a fantastic board, only reason I didn't recommend is it is an "ultra enthusiast" board with a correspondingly high price, but if you have the money it is fantastic.
I am building a SFF pc with i5-12400F ( will be upgraded to 13700 or 14700 ) and RTX 3060 or ARC A750 ( will be upgraded to RTX 4080 or RX 7800XT after 4-5 years ) I am thinking to take Cooler master NR200P Max (M-ITX) or Asus Prime AP201 (M-ATX) with 16 GB DDR5 and gen 4 512GB SSD + 1 TB Sata Which motherboard and PSU should i take to be future proof or satisfy my current purchase
Absolutely incredible video. So informative, has exactly what I needed, answers so many of my questions, yet super simple to understand. I learned a ton. Thank you for this!
Dang the PG Velocita at 12:52 seems really good, especially that price! Was looking at the Mag Z790 Tomahawk before but this is priced much better for what you actually get.
Just found your channel! It's been about 14 years since I've needed to build a PC, and your videos on m.2 drives and PSU certifications have been so nice to clear out the dust in my brain! lol
Thank you for your videos. Built my first computer the other day. 2.5 hours in assembly and less than an hour updating software. It was a very easy process.
It’s a home/game computer. Looking at it from a cost/benefit it wasn’t worth sinking additional money as I have limited time to game and other things to spend money on. Spent $1300 to $1600 range. Start up and loads programs in
Hi, im about to buy a 14600K, but i already have 32GB of DDR4 and i have low budget, can you recommend me a motherboard for a 14600K but DDR4? thank you
is the z690 coming to eol?Im planning to build 4070 super and i5 14600kf and is looking for a mobo. I asked a supplier about the z690, and they said that it has stopped produced. which mobo should i buy then? preferably matx form
Someday, someday Jason. I would love to see a video about the best motherboard to quality case configuration. Talking about which cases come with the most fans, come with their own controller hubs, which boards combine with these cases the best. Reason, the hardest part for me and my crew when it comes to PC building is connecting all the fans and cable management. Always the most challenging thing for us. So many crappy cases out there.
I keep searching for a UK based YT channel that gives advice on UK prices etc. and you are all in US$ - which is fair, because you are from the US! However, what keeps me tuned in to your channel isntead of skipping like i do most other US creators, as well as coming back for more and more of your content is: A) You explain things really well, i.e. what everything means and if it is needed or not. B) timestamps. Your channel is excellent. Thank you.
I did a lot of research before coming here so I don’t know how valid my comments are, but I found your video to be really, really informative especially because I’m just learning about PC building. I’m actually switching from Mac to PC and on the Apple side we just don’t have this freedom of choice, choice is dictated by one vendor. What an amazing sandbox the PC side offers.
I got the asrock velocita ddr5 ram board for $170 after tax. Really excited. Putting a 12600k in it for my dad. Was going to go with the b660m msi pro but for few bucks more I could have gotten a ddr5 ram board and crazy io
Hi (PC Builder) Jason, I want to give you a sincere THANKS! The recent builder videos that you released were EXTREMELY helpful to my future build; i.e. parts ordered!!! I would like to recommend another Creator motherboard w/ Thunderbolt 4 ports that I found, the ASUS ProArt Z790-CREATOR WIFI. It seems to be competitive and priced a little less than the MSI Ace Z790. Again, THANKS! Cheers!!! P.S. Now, I wait for the post. 🙃
19:57 Where did you find this version? I could only find the ddr5 ver in ATX form. The DDR4 i can only find in mATX even with the link in the description
Great info, as always, Jason! I like that Aorus Z790 Pro X, but several reviews on Newegg slam it due to GCC's software. Any thoughts on this? My other choice is the MSI MPG Edge TI Max. I'll be using the i7-14700 CPU for my build.
I'm looking to upgrade to a 12600k here soon, would you recommend going with the Riptide specifically for the 12600k or spend the little bit extra for the ROG Strix board still?
Thanks! I was going to take Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Pro X and it did help a lot. But i have a question Im going to take i9 14900k with 4070ti should i go with ddr4 rams or ddr5 rams and people says that if i use 4x rams in ddr5 it can causes BlueScreen but idk what should i do i can go with 2x ddr5 tho anyways im going to watch ur ram video rn .d (i watched it and i think im going to get T-Force Delta 2x16 7200) and for ssd im looking for samsung 980pro
I've watch a GOOD hanful of your videos over the past couple of years of building PC's for friends and family and I cant thank you enough for litteraly ALL the information you provide in your videos like this one. All the little things and segments you include before jumping into recommendations because that only helps further educate on the latest features and "nice to knows" to help us picking the right components.
Thanks for the video🙏🏾 but will the mATX ASUS ROG Z690-G pair well with the unlocked i5 13600k or is there a better mATX board with bios flashback that will pair better?
Is the MSI MAG B760 Tomahawk WiFi D4 good? My build is a 3070 and i5 12400f. Looking for a replacement since i somehow messed up my motherboard while switching cases. Was thinking of using the D5 version (or the other D5 boards in your list) but that plus needing new RAM is pricey and probably overkill for my specs anyway.
What about the Asus ROG strix z790-A Gaming Wifi 2 for the 14700k? Seems the same as the Aorus Pro X minus the Gen 5 M.2 slot but if I'm not using Gen 5 then how would the Asus be?
I think you just answered a question I’ve been chasing for fucking YEARS and I wasn’t even looking to answer it…. My rear audio jacks refuse to work figured it was a defective board. But I was out if warranty when I discovered it. Turns out plugging in my yeti mic disables the realtek audio driver and enables Realtek Hd usb audio…. Thanks lol
From personal experience, in the future I will probably put more emphasis on one certain motherboard feature that my current one lacks. And that is a "clear CMOS"-button - preferably on the rear I/O-panel. On my MSI Z690 Tomahawk, they didn't even include a jumper to clear the CMOS - pins are there of course, but no jumper. So when I messed up during overclocking and the PC wouldn't boot, I had to take out my GPU because the battery is completely covered by it and there's no way to get to the battery with the GPU installed. My card has a rather large cooler, but I suspect that less ludicrously oversized cards will cause the same problem on this board. Re RAM: I'd be a bit more undecided today between DDR4 and DDR5, I think, than I was when I built this PC back in March/April 2022. Back then, DDR5 kits were very scarce and a lot more expensive than fast DDR4. Plus reports at the time stated that real-world performance difference still was more or less negligible between the two. So I went with a Z690 and 3600 CL18 DDR4. System seemed plenty fast to me and it's even faster now that I had to change to a 2x16 GB 3600 CL16 kit (stability issues with the 4x8 GB config I ran before). For the sake of "future proofing" (whatever that means), DDR5 would be my choice today of course - OTOH, the current 1700-socket Intel platform will be phased out in about a year, so if you *really* want to be future-proof and go Intel, it'd probably be best to wait until 15th gen comes out. Perhaps they'll even manage to produce a new gen of CPUs that are a bit more frugal when it comes to power-consumption. :D
Hey, I’m building a pc for the first time and I was wondering whether or not my motherboard and cpu are a good match. I have an intel i7 14700k and a MSI Z790-p. Will there be any bios issues? How hard is it to update the drivers? Thanks 🙏
Looking for a motherboard to go with a 12400f/12600kf on DDR5 / NVME / PCI-5 / PCI for sound card / plastic Covered IO / highest quality Audio chip. Any recommendations? Cheaper the better.
i got myself a msi b760 m-atx ddr5 board with i5 13600kf and im having issues with keeping it cool while gaming, ive only got a 120mm aio cooler but i thought it would be enough, it gets to 90 - 100 celsius while gaming but sits around 45 - 55 while just using it for basic stuff or just sitting with background programs open
I just saw the most outrageous thing when looking up these motherboards!!!! In my area, an MSI Pro Z790-A cost about $260 whilst a ASRock Z690 Velocita cost about $440. Maybe It's because they have to import the z690, so that's why it's more expensive. But almost double the price for a board with that's older and isn't as evolved is crazy. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi Jason! In pc part picker I have a warning that say my motherboard has an additional 4 pin ATX power connector that my PSU does not have. Is this something I should be worried about? The build is a I3 12100f and a Radeon rx 7600.
I bought the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Pro X for the 14700K. Can I use a PCI-e 4.0 NVME in the main 5.0 slot? I have a Samsung 980 pro nvme already and was going to use it instead of buying a 990 nvme.
Hey will I be okay with i5 14400k with Asus tuf b760 mobo? I won't ever going to overclock anything. Also I use them for 3d modeling and rendering stuff. Those two are the most matching for my budget. Z790s are much pricier here. However I'm not sure it will cause a problem. Really appreciate if you can give an opinion on this.
@@antesdedormir8732 Just got away with AMD. Bought a 7800x3d and will buy a mobo that suits in that in the future. Main issue I saw with the intel is I should be more careful when selecting a mobo because of those VRM issues (More watts for high end processors mean you need good quality VRMs. However, this is not a problem with AMD cpus). I'd suggest you to go for something like 7700x, 7600x, 7900x, 7950x (Non x3d version) for 3d modeling and rendering stuff. I bought 7800x3d because it is the best gaming cpu and my personal preference (not so good but enough for me with productivity stuff). Do some research. I spent freaking lot on this haha.
@@antesdedormir8732 I got away with AMD. After hours of research one thing I found out was that intels are hard to cool, draws more power and most annoyingly hard to choose a mobo because z790 are so much expensive where I live. I chose Ryzen 7 7800x3d. I would recommend non x3d version for those purposes (7600x, 7700x, 7900x, 7950x). I decided to go with 7800x3d is the best gaming cpu even surpasses 14900k in gaming. It is decent enough for me for those productive purposes. edit: b760 would be enough for 14400k but it should have good quality vrms for those k processors. Also it would be a waste to buy a k processor if you are not going to oc or other tweakings. z790 chipset boards have good power delivery and decent vrms but they are quite expensive here. I can just go with a mobo under 100$ for the 7800x3d and dudes saying its easier to cool with even the stock air cooler (probably I won't and will go for arctic lf3 or lf2 360mm).
Hi Jason! Have you tested the Asus Prime z790-m plus (the ddr5 version)? It's the only ddr5 mATX z790 I could find but there doesn't seem to be much information about it or at least I could not find it. Thanks in advance and thank you for your wonderful content!
Excellent nomenclature explanation. But I’m still stumped on PCIe lanes… if I wanted two of the latest M.2 SSDs, plus a latest gen video card, are they all going to be able to take advantage of PCIe 5 lanes? I recall seeing somewhere that having two Gen 5 SSDs slows down the GPU…?
I'm currently planning to upgrade from my i3 12100K to a i7 13700K build. The last few days I was feeling unsure on which motherboard to get and this helps a lot!
Dumb question. I'm upgrading my PC. I purchased an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero and an i9 14900K processor. Newegg specifically says "LGA 1700(Intel 14th & 13th&12th Gen)", but then later says "BIOS update may be required when used with some 14th generation Intel Core processors". I've never updated BIOS and I'm really nervous about doing so. Is it easy to do, or should I return my motherboard and upgrade to a Dark Hero? Thanks in advance for any help.
@@PCBuilderChannel That was an incredibly useful video!! What cooling option would you use for an i9 14900k? I would rather air cooling instead of AOI, but will go that option if necessary.
I knew you would pick up that Velocita board! I found it while shopping for a friend's PC about a month ago and my eyeballs nearly popped out of my head for how amazing of a deal it is right now. Handles 6000-CL30 ram and a 13600KF perfectly fine, even overclocked. Great recommendation!
If I’m planning on upgrading from z390 motherboard i9-9900k should I wait for z890 or do you think z790 will be fine? I’m curious if the next gen cpu (i7-15700) will need a z890 or will the z790 support them?
I must be the oddball out, having picked up the asus h670 DDR4 wifi. Its the only H670 I've seen, the VRMs looked a lot like the asus z690 ddr5 board. I don't see many x70 boards and it was a really good price in the Open box area of a microcenter, works very nicely on a non-k CPU.
H670 is still slightly better than B660 but just not many made these days (let alone the Q series and other weird boards we used to have!). But great boards if you can pick them up at a good price.
ive been lookng at the h610m-a wifi d4 motherboard and was going to buy it. it fits the other parts ive wanted to buy, but this video made me unsure. should i buy it?
Nice video, gave it a like! I have a question though. If I buy the I7 14700K, why would I not buy the Gigabyte B760 for example? I am not looking to (consciously) overclock, so it seems like wasted spending to buy a Z version chipset.
I can get a MSI Z790-A DDR5 wifi for a very competitive price, which would allow me to jump up to a better processor, would this mother board be acceptable for a i71400k build ?
Hello Sir, I'm planning to use i9-14900. I don't need overcloking. So, if I use B760 chipset motherboard with DDR5 RAM, will that compromise any of the processor's capabilities? I also plan to add intel ARC A770 Graphics card to the motherboard later.
I don't recommend this. The 14900 requires crazy amounts of cooling / power for no performance boost over better options. And right now there are all kinds of performance issues with it so I especially don't recommend. That's also way too powerful a CPU for that weak a GPU. See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more on why you don't want GPU bottleneck. If you are looking to make a production focused build I highly recommend the 14700K
Hello, this two mobos are amazing to pair a I5-14600K ? (Asus TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 and MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4 ) and yeah for the moment I prefer DDR4 :) And do I really need to update my bios on this two mobos ? Because I want ot buy it and have everything done by default :)
Hi Jason, I'm interested in your opinion on the MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI. I've heard a lot of people saying they can run 4 7200mts cl34 ram modules on it without trouble. Do you think this is a good board? Thanks!
Good board, but if you are looking for very good RAM traces don't rule out the Aorus X boards as that is their main feature. Remember getting the 7200 CL34 stuff to work isn't a given on any board, but the better the traces the less likely they'll fail due to that.
@@PCBuilderChannel Thank you I'll make sure to check it out. I always heard gigabyte boards weren't good but lately it seems like they're making better boards.
I'm building a new pc right now and i'm all in. 14900kf, Asus TUF 4090, Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5, Samsung 990 Pro M.2's. I've been eyeing up the Asus TUF Z790-PRO motherboard but it seems almost identical to the Z790-Plus board except for an updated bios for 14th gen (no bios flashback on the Plus so I would need to put a previous gen processor in to update the bios which I don't have). I'm in UK, the PLUS board is $282, the PRO board is $470!! I was hoping to see the PRO board a good bit cheaper in a black friday sale but nothing yet 😐
I want to put an intel i5 12600kf in ASRock B760 Pro RS WiFi on this motherboard. Can I put an i7 14th Gen in a few years? Do you recommend it or what motherboard can I use? price/value
Have had B760M and Z690 boards. It's been good for my 12th gens, got the B board on sale (B760 Pro RS), same for the Z ones (Z690 Asus TUF Wifi Plus, liked it enough I bought a second on sale).
If I have Intel i9 14900 KF what motherboard option should I consider, I don't really do overcloking but it would be great that the VRAM not overhead etc?
Hello ! Thanks for the good video first ! I have a question, do you know if i need to update my bios if i go for a Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX with an intel 14700K ? If yes, should i do this before building the PC ? Thanks !
AsRock knocked it out of the park with the phantom gaming nova wifi 7. The feature set for the price is unmatched and the build quality to me is as premium as any other manufacture. Highly recommend.

You havent given any justification for not recommending H610 other than memory speed limitation but since its ddr4 3200mhz is the sweet spot anyway what other constraints do we have here ?
Back in January I bought my first PC ( i was on a budget), but now I want to start upgrading parts, i have an i5 14400F cpu and i want to get a better motherboard so i can upgrade my cpu on the future, can i get a Z790 or should I stick with the b760 ?

I want to give an official shoutout to Intel for not changing the CPU socket for 14th Generation CPU's. 👍🏆

So I'm moving the last 2 into new cases or unbuilding to rebuild idk. 12th has been a good value for upgrades. I have a lot of pcs coming from Spectre, moving on to 12th gen. I think I am sitting out 14th.
I went gig z790 gaming ax x since I used gig s decade oced and love there boards
@TheFruitingChamber same here bro . Plus I got the i7 14700kf and 7200 ddr5 32 gb
I'm really glad that you broke down the memory constraint differences from 12th gen/z690 and 13th/13.5th gen/z790. If you are trying to run 4 sticks of fast DDR5 ram, definitely going 13th gen+ and a solid board is where you start.
Edit: Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX is my board and it's been amazing.

how do your wife keep the 13900k or now 14900k cool? Ive seen a lot of issues with this unless you water cool loop. I just ordered a rog strix 4090, intel 14900k, aus rog z790 a gaming board wifi II. Would really appreciate your response. Im debating returning the 14900k and board and swapping for AMD Ryzen 7800x3d just because it seems a challenge to cool the 14900k even with a 420 AIO
Yay found the video! Great Stuff Jason! Much needed for the many of us getting 12th gen intel!
Glad its helpful!
Just some constructive criticism: I think it would help people who are new to pc building if you included a grid on the screen while talking about compatibility. Similar to how y'all do the blue bubbles like @ 2:19. The would give people an all-in-one summary of the main differences
Thanks for the feedback! And thank you for your support :)
@@PCBuilderChannel no problem!
shoo badoo
grid on the screen, why new people as you need that ?
It's better that he tells how you bottleneck next gen gear on old CPU, Why XMP profiles on some old i5 on low power, that is the only thing these channels need to understand, basics ! If you buy old crappy CPU's on low power etc, what are you bottlenecking here !
East to tell in any content, that was all noobs need to understand.
@@lucasrem I am not new. I just think it would help new people if they saw a grid/table of the info all together. That way they wouldn't have to keep scrolling back in the video to compare
@@lucasrem there's nothing wrong with buying a few generations older.
Low power is a good thing btw
MSI has always been good to me. Currently rocking their PRO Z790-A DDR5. Only thing I wish it had was a gen5 SSD slot.
Great board and it is in our recommendations!
kHaki man
14700k on Z790, 2 DIMS only, one NVMe
Rest are for the Office, low power CPU, you never need office gear at home.

The Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Pro looks amazing IMO! Great video, Jay! Have a great Friday, brother! ✌🏻

I am building a SFF pc with i5-12400F ( will be upgraded to 13700 or 14700 ) and RTX 3060 or ARC A750 ( will be upgraded to RTX 4080 or RX 7800XT after 4-5 years )
I am thinking to take Cooler master NR200P Max (M-ITX) or Asus Prime AP201 (M-ATX) with 16 GB DDR5 and gen 4 512GB SSD + 1 TB Sata
Which motherboard and PSU should i take to be future proof or satisfy my current purchase

Z790 for unlocked/k CPUs, B760 for locked/non "k" CPUs.

However, what keeps me tuned in to your channel isntead of skipping like i do most other US creators, as well as coming back for more and more of your content is: A) You explain things really well, i.e. what everything means and if it is needed or not. B) timestamps. Your channel is excellent. Thank you.

Hi (PC Builder) Jason, I want to give you a sincere THANKS! The recent builder videos that you released were EXTREMELY helpful to my future build; i.e. parts ordered!!! Great info, as always, Jason! I like that Aorus Z790 Pro X, but several reviews on Newegg slam it due to GCC's software. Any thoughts on this? My other choice is the MSI MPG Edge TI Max. I'll be using the i7-14700 CPU for my build.
I saw that too. The MSI PRO Z790-A MAX would be a good cheaper choice that's White but the MSI Edge you said looks good too.
Hi, please which one is better motherboard ?
( Asrock b650e taichi lite ) or ( Asrock X670E steel legend ) ?

Which one of these boards would you recommend for a 12900KS with fast DDR5 ram?
I think you just answered a question I’ve been chasing for fucking YEARS and I wasn’t even looking to answer it…. My rear audio jacks refuse to work figured it was a defective board. But I was out if warranty when I discovered it. Turns out plugging in my yeti mic disables the realtek audio driver and enables Realtek Hd usb audio…. Thanks lol
So glad to help!
Yes I agree with your statement. 15th Gen would make more sense.
So very helpful for a newbie like me. Thank you! Subscribed.

Wish you gave a bit more attention to ASRock Z690 Taichi. Found a pretty decent deal on that model. Do you have any experiences with it?
Jason, thank you for this information. What motherboards for Intel have the digital LED debug feature?
Fire knowledge thx for the info!
Hi Jason! In pc part picker I have a warning that say my motherboard has an additional 4 pin ATX power connector that my PSU does not have. Is this something I should be worried about? The build is a I3 12100f and a Radeon rx 7600.
Nothing at all to worry about. That's only for much higher powered CPU"s
I bought the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Pro X for the 14700K. Can I use a PCI-e 4.0 NVME in the main 5.0 slot? I have a Samsung 980 pro nvme already and was going to use it instead of buying a 990 nvme.
And what do you recommend for a non-k 14700? B760 with a good vrm cooling?
Hey will I be okay with i5 14400k with Asus tuf b760 mobo? I won't ever going to overclock anything. Also I use them for 3d modeling and rendering stuff. Those two are the most matching for my budget. Z790s are much pricier here. However I'm not sure it will cause a problem. Really appreciate if you can give an opinion on this.
Hello. I am in a similar position than yours. What did you decide in the end?

Dumb question. I'm upgrading my PC. I purchased an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero and an i9 14900K processor. Newegg specifically says "LGA 1700(Intel 14th & 13th&12th Gen)", but then later says "BIOS update may be required when used with some 14th generation Intel Core processors". I've never updated BIOS and I'm really nervous about doing so. Is it easy to do, or should I return my motherboard and upgrade to a Dark Hero? Thanks in advance for any help.

Nice video, gave it a like! I have a question though. If I buy the I7 14700K, why would I not buy the Gigabyte B760 for example? I am not looking to (consciously) overclock, so it seems like wasted spending to buy a Z version chipset.

The MSI Tomahawk is one Jason recommends. Both B650 and X670E versions are good.
@kelley09162 W thank u so much I had the the B650 on my list already perfect just wasn't sure tnx
@@kelley09162 wich one would be better tho the x670E or B650? Or r they the same?
@@stickyjoe7296 the B650 fine. Don't feel like you need to spend the extra on the X670E. I just wasn't sure if you were looking at B650 or X670 Motherboards.
@@kelley09162 oh ok nah just one that will be perfect for a 7900xtx with 7 7800x3D
What should i choose for my i5 13600k and rtx 3060 . I am into editing and barely any gaming... Msi mag b760 tomahawk ddr5 or msi pro z790 p ddr5 motherboard?
You havent given any justification for not recommending H610 other than memory speed limitation but since its ddr4 3200mhz is the sweet spot anyway what other constraints do we have here ?
Back in January I bought my first PC ( i was on a budget), but now I want to start upgrading parts, i have an i5 14400F cpu and i want to get a better motherboard so i can upgrade my cpu on the future, can i get a Z790 or should I stick with the b760 ?
