Down here in Houston (not sure if on any other micro center) there’s a bundle of a b650 motherboard with wifi, 32 gb of g skill ram and the 7600x3d for 399 planning on getting that
Power outage took out my 6600k last month. Microcenter has a 12700k, motherboard and 16 gb RAM for $300, so I got that. I was very close to getting the 12900k combo with the same motherboard but 32 gigs of RAM FOR $400.
Microcenter has some good bundles for Black Friday right now. Decide if you game or if you will be doing lots of video production to decide which CPU to buy. Not sure if Paul mentions it, but the 13 and 14 gen intel parts had significant issues, with many CPU being RMA’d. Intel claims that the issues have been resolved, but it is hard to trust those generations. And do not buy a used one. AMD is hard to beat in gaming with their X3D CPU, even the 5700 x3d is a good performer for gaming. That is the older platform, but it is inexpensive and often outperforms 12900k / 13900k .
@@EdDale44135 I would love to use micro center but im in the UK :( Yeah im still on the fence about 13th & 14th Gen intel, My gut feeling is get the 9600X or 9700X im mostly gaming but with a side of photo eding every now and again
Because it underperformed for the price. Idk if it is what it is, or a software issue, but it isn't that good. Unless this is satire, then.. Good question 😂
For productivity, or at least video editing and such, my understanding is that you should never get a KF version of intel. The igpu can make a massive different in the editing experience.
In consideration of the entire budget concern, it makes sense to purchase a CPU WITH the graphics. At least you have fair graphics until you can unload another $500+ for a graphics card. Makes a lot of sense for those builders who want a system up and running without spending a good half as much additionally for just the graphics. Those $30 extra for iGraphics is worth it in my opinion.
9900x or 7950x for 50$ more ? For 3d work. Rendering will be on the gpu. So mostly sculpting in zbrush and texturing in substance painter , rendering in UE5
Still rocking my 2nd gen Threadripper. I keep upgrading my video card 5700xt>2080ti>3080 12gb, but right now, don't see a reason to switch my CPU. Esp since it would mean switching MB and RAM too.
I see some PC builders still recommend 13-th and 14-th Intel gen CPUs. So... is that problem with degradation solved or is it a time bomb in any case? i5 14600kf has a lower price in my country and even little bit better performance than r7 7700... So is it ok now to pick some i5 14-th gen? My current i5 3470 still running perfectly... 12 years for now.
Hey paul, hopefully you can read my comment. I have a lga 2066 i9 9820x and im looking to upgrade to handle 4k smoothly with todays 10 bit videos. Which would be a smart move from that cpu?
About to finish my applied statistics graduate program and want to build my first PC for personal machine learning research and work. I could obviously go with a threadripper but trying to stay within a budget so not trying to spend 2k on a CPU just yet. What does everyone think would currently be the best CPU for such work? Hoping to snag a 4090 once the 5000 series comes out but want a powerful CPU to accompany it.
Currently running at 3700x coupled with a 7800XT GPU. I am definitely looking to upgrade to AM5 and overhaul my system. Best options for a mid-range CPU, mostly for gaming, with that GPU specifically? I don't play super demanding titles, but there's definitely a noticeable bottleneck with the older CPU at this point. Looking to spend $250-350. I know at least a few were mentioned in this video, but looking for input based on the GPU I have.
I sold my 5600 "with the unused Wraith Stealth cooler and original packaging" on ebay & simultaneously purchased the 5700X on Amazon. So I'm only out the difference since I was already running a Vetroo V5 aftermarket cooler with the 5600. And I'm satisfied with the upgrade as there's a noticeable increase in editing performance with the 5700X, which is my primary concern.
For upgrade path and all others, I want to upgrade my cpu and motherboard shoul I go with intel lga 1700 series or am4? And my gpu is 3060ti ( dont plant very much on upgrading now ill uses till his deads)
How long do you think this part last if you use it for Production or rendering? I have ryzen 3700X and i thinK i need to change it but I do not know with what to last longer and I have B450 tomahawk max but i hate it because it has just Gen 3 ×16 pcie

@@mybeautifulcat7011 Technically, not best heater because it is only 100% efficient. For better efficiency, you want a heat pump, which can achive greater than 100% efficiency because it's not generating heat, but rather pumping heat from outside to inside.

Hey there, guys! I am planning to buy a new pc for games and am searching some advice. I want the best 0.1% 1% fps cpu possible. I don't need max productivity processor, but rather best stable and only then - max productive cpu. Any thoughts?
Many variables. What games you play, what resolution? For example, Alan Wake 2 it doesn't matter what CPU you have, you will be GPU bottlenecked all the time even on DLSS. But with Balder's Gate 3, Flight Simulator, ACC, Cyberpunk 2077 you will gain more fps getting 7800x3D or 9800x3D even on 4K.
In a comment to a similar video on another channel someone mentioned that where he lived he could buy a Ryzen 5 7500F slightly cheaper than a Ryzen R5 7600. Now this is interesting as the differences between these processors are that the 7600F doesn't have a integrated GPU and 100 MHz lower base clock and Max Boost clock at 3.7GHz and 5GHz respectively compared to 3.8GHz and 5.1GHz for the 7600. Everything else is the same. The performance difference between the 7500F and the 7600 is so small you probably can't feel it without running benchmarks, and they can be made up for by a very slight overclock which is just about certain it wont case any instability or problems. Now I don't know if it comes with a heatsink or how common they are in retail. I also saw a commenter say that where he shopped the 7500F was more expensive than the 7600, so that's also a possibility. And keep in mind that without a integrated GPU you absolutely need some kind of graphics card to get any kind of picture.
hi, i want to ask.. my current pc uses: CPU: i3 10105f GPU: RX6700 xt Ram: 2x8GB MB: Asrock H510m-HDV/M.2 and i want to upgrade my cpu to I5 11400f, is it still worth it? Or should I just upgrade to an i5 12400f? i use this pc to play AAA gaming
Because you cannot go past Gen 11.. I would suggest getting a better 11th gen chip. Something like a 11700f maybe.. whatever is a good deal in that range. I just looked and the 11600kf is only $40 more and you get a LOT more frequency and you can overclock if you have an aftermarket cooler. That would be my move. 😊
walked into micro center yesterday expecting just to browse when one of the associates told me a shipment of 9800X3D chips had just come in minutes ago. so now i have a pile of parts sitting next to me, and they are looking forward to being paired with a shiny new GPU that will totally, definitely, really really release in the next couple months here, right? right!?!?!?
Yes, especially if you play 1440p or higher, the GPU will be the bottleneck. Just noticed, however, that you are talking about music production. DAWs and music production still benefit more for single core performance over multi core (though cores can help too, higher single core performance is more important), so actually the "gaming CPUs" might be better to look at for music production specifically. The CPU is also far more important to music production than regular use, gaming use, editing use, etc. So in music production, CPU and often RAM are the things to invest in.

Hey Paul, i have a 9 year old system, i7-5600K, Asus Rog Strix 1070, 16 gigs of ram, 600W power supply, couple of samsun SSDs 250 and 1k, ,Asus z170i mini itx mother board all in a Thermaltake core P1 case, last week it just refused to power on, so i took it to a local computer guy, and after he tested it, he confirmed the motherboard had done its life. What would be least amount of things i would need to buy to get my computer back up and running and any recommendations. I'm capped at 800 bucks for my budget. Thank you
Best CPU for gaming AND production is 1-2 months away: the 9950x3D. Can't wait to get it for my next build. :)
I just bought a 5900X for about $229 at Newegg. I bought the 5900X and 32gb of Kingston DDR4 3600MT Ram for a total of $311 including shipping.
Yeah i ran that, great deal, you'll be able to do anything you want still....
Thumbs up for MT
Great deal!
Why wouldn't you get 5700x3d?
Down here in Houston (not sure if on any other micro center) there’s a bundle of a b650 motherboard with wifi, 32 gb of g skill ram and the 7600x3d for 399 planning on getting that
im upgrading to a ryzen 9 5700x, what would be a good budget cooler?
Still sat here with a 6600K wondering where to begin with upgrading ahhhh
Power outage took out my 6600k last month. Microcenter has a 12700k, motherboard and 16 gb RAM for $300, so I got that. I was very close to getting the 12900k combo with the same motherboard but 32 gigs of RAM FOR $400.
@ oh no gutted at least you had an excuse to upgrade, I’m currently looking at the 14600K or 9700X but still undecided
@@EdDale44135nah. 13th and 14th gen are great. You just need to visit the bios and set them properly.
@@EdDale44135 I would love to use micro center but im in the UK :(
Yeah im still on the fence about 13th & 14th Gen intel, My gut feeling is get the 9600X or 9700X im mostly gaming but with a side of photo eding every now and again
Why didn't you mention the core Ultra 9 285K or am I missing something?
Because it underperformed for the price. Idk if it is what it is, or a software issue, but it isn't that good.
Unless this is satire, then.. Good question 😂
For productivity, or at least video editing and such, my understanding is that you should never get a KF version of intel. The igpu can make a massive different in the editing experience.
If I pair the Ryzen 9 990x with PowerColor Fighter AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE, will this be good for gaming and productivity?
How long you think a new ecore 1 will make noise/burn in i know. Its fine otherwise.
Just got that godlike msi & need the 9950x3d for no reason at all

We have the same reason. Go figure...

What's best for both gaming and streaming? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
7600 or 7700 for budget cpu's
What about some recommendations for the best all rounder - if you want to do some gaming and production?
Thanks again Paul. Should a 4K video editor target production or game CPU?
Production
@@klaustrussel Or maybe you can do both with the Ryzen 9950X3D, but then you need to wait.
How long do you think this part last if you use it for Production or rendering? I have ryzen 3700X and i thinK i need to change it but I do not know with what to last longer and I have B450 tomahawk max but i hate it because it has just Gen 3 ×16 pcie
Great video Paul, I really loved the breakdown of all these CPU's! For a production PC with an i9 12900k, what GPU should I pair it with if I'm doing programs like Adobe Premiere, Photoshop or maybe Da Vinci Resolve?

@@mybeautifulcat7011 Technically, not best heater because it is only 100% efficient. For better efficiency, you want a heat pump, which can achive greater than 100% efficiency because it's not generating heat, but rather pumping heat from outside to inside.
I'm looking to build a PC mainly for gaming, with some VR if possible. What CPU is good but will not be limiting if I decide I want to do some other stuff on it like video editing etc? Is the 9900x worth it? A lot of the new AMD CPUs got criticised
Need help deciding on the 7800x3d or 9800x3d. Long term gaming rig. Coming from a 5600
Definitely 9800x3d, especially considering they're basically the same price.
they are not the same price🙈😂🤣
My 2019 set has a AMD Ryzen 7 can I upgrade to one of these new ones with my existing mother board
You can upgrade up to Ryzen 5xxx (AM4) for example a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. From Ryzen 7xxx onwards you'd need a new Board (AM5).
Im building my first pc, what's the best budget cpu to combo with rx 6800 and 32gb ram am4? 🙏🏻
5600x or 5700x3d, depending on cores you want, 5700(x) for 8 cores

Yes, upgrade to 5700x or 5700x3d
Hey there, guys! I am planning to buy a new pc for games and am searching some advice. I want the best 0.1% 1% fps cpu possible. I don't need max productivity processor, but rather best stable and only then - max productive cpu. Any thoughts?
best all around would be 9700x which you can get at MicroCenter for $235 if u bundle it with a motherboard and cpu
Paul what is the most powerful graphics card to pair with a 12700kf that dosent cause a bottleneck
@ ohh I play like diablo4 and Star Wars Jedi fallen order
Paul, do you have a similar video for motherboards as well?
Is it worth upgrading from a 5700X to a 5700X3D?
What is a good CPU to Stream and Game at the same time i can't decide between the i9-14900k or 7950x3d
7950x3d
Which cpu should i pick for gaming and recording + editing 4k video. I pair with 4090.
7950X3D or wait for the 9950X3D to drop at CES. It’s gunna be the dominant flagship for a while
hi, i want to ask.. my current pc uses:
CPU: i3 10105f
GPU: RX6700 xt
Ram: 2x8GB
MB: Asrock H510m-HDV/M.2
and i want to upgrade my cpu to I5 11400f, is it still worth it? Or should I just upgrade to an i5 12400f? i use this pc to play AAA gaming
You cannot drop in a 12xxx CPU. 10xxx and 11xxx only.
Amazon is not selling the 9950X for a $100 markup. Antonline is!

yes, actual gaming performance depends on the GPU
@@HellPedre I do music production and some video editing and about to do a new build. also I do some gaming too so wanting to be sure im good on both.
@@Thepaulislame any good and fast modern CPU will do you wonders then
Yes, especially if you play 1440p or higher, the GPU will be the bottleneck.

I think the 9950X3D will be better than even the 9800X3D. This is especially true, if the 9950X3D has Dual 3D V-Cache flipped on both CCD's for full overclocking support, which should overclock FAR higher than even the 9800X3D.
