Great to see your flying again, always look forward to your videos. My wife and I think it’s impossible not to smile while listening to you, you have always got such a positive attitude. I arrived back in Boston on Saturday on Kirkland 777. The flight attendants in my section had overslept and did not come for food or collect headset until around 55 minutes before landing ! It was a mad rush for them. I mentioned that she would have likely slept even better in 300ER vs 200ER as I believe the bunks were better. She was surprised I knew but I told her that I follow you and get educated . She thought it was funny but is likely now following you herself.
Love the content, Darren! I'm a corporate pilot hoping to transition to the airlines soon and find your content incredibly helpful to wrap my head around everything!
Thank you for sharing your London trip! Very nice! Yes, I agree with about your statement of the 777-300s being so long. I felt that same way about the 777s at my former United Airlines. And that was second to how I felt about the recently retired 747-400s.
Great video as always Darren... Thanks for the insight into your trip. Short break, long taxi, hard stand, but hey, you weren't in Charlotte!! :) Blue skies sir!
Have you thought about taking cold brew on trips? No need to worry about keeping coffee hot. The myth is that cold brew actually became popular in the 1600s aboard Dutch merchant ships where using fire was prohibited. Really appreciate the candid videos!
I fly a lot, and what's up with the severe turbulence lately? Some of my flights have been more like "Six Flags Airlines" . I hardly ever take my seatbelt off anymore. Love your videos.
I think there’s just more attention paid to it. I haven’t noticed any increase in turbulence during my 17 years. We now have apps that record and report it instantly. That wasn’t a thing even 8 years ago
Love your videos. I unfortunately had to make the choice of not going into the industry when I was making college decisions (late 80s) due to the deregulation at the time. I know it was the right thing to do, but alas. I still travel a good deal for work, but it's not the same. Anyway, question for you- when you do have to complete sim time, is that paid?
For MSFS, take a look at your airport traffic settings and make sure they are 0. If it’s Inibuilds scenery just check the tab for static aircraft. Great content!
@@geekontheflightdeck It’s pretty good in the alpha already! I’m excited for them to make it feature complete. The PMDG… I think the systems seem pretty my good but my lord that MSFS twitchiness on the ground is :/
Wouldn’t it be easier for you and “Kirkland Airlines” to just schedule you as the FO so you can’t stay current with TO/Landings then sending you to the sim?
If the flight takes longer than the blocked time do they pay you for the actual time….also, do you get payed less if you arrive early?….NEVERMIND, I asked this question at the part of the video where you were showing the dispatch sheet…you answered it at the end of the video
Extremely jealous you got to go to the auto show in Frankfurt, being gen z unfortunately many of these automotive events are ceasing to exist so this experiences will never be had.
It was 2019. It is unfortunate how auto shows have changed. Detroit was amazing then they moved it in 2020 which never happened and has been mediocre ever since. LA has been decentish every year.
@@geekontheflightdeck Lucky I live in the Motor City and have experienced every year since 2012, they are in the summer months now instead of winter time. You'd love the Woodward Dream Cruise if you can ever make it up this way!
Another nice video Darren. If you like cars, did you spot the classic Morris Minor 1000 at 10.55 in your film? A classic bit of old British engineering. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Minor
I just noticed it. To be more clear I’m a 1988 and newer car guy. That’s when I started reading car magazines. For a long time I could spot a car 50 yards away and tell you year, make, model, trim and engine
Interesting why the company would choose Dublin as an alternate rather than say Birmingham. Is it down to maintenance availability or it being a company station?
Lots of reasons for alternates including capacity. They can’t have every flight within x number of hours with the same alternates just in case crap hits the fan Birmingham might not have personnel to handle them all.
@@geekontheflightdeck I can see that. Flying 100 seaters the company would always choose the closest/cheapest with more than alternate WX. Sometimes the handling was a mess, particularly if you diverted late in the evening.
Not sure I fully understand. Deadheading is flying as a passenger on duty (being paid) as part of a trip. Commuting is flying as a passenger (not being paid) to start a trip. I’ll have Nonrev video soon but it’s a different process at every airline and I can’t get into specifics.
@@geekontheflightdeckI have always flown on MSFS, would you recommend buying X-Plane 12 or is 11 still pretty good? Or do you think MSFS 2024 will fix a lot of the issues

I might have seen you up in the air today. I shop at the Costco just north of the airport and often sit and watch the GKY traffic.

I haven’t. I do prefer hot coffee though. Interesting historical tip though and thank you for the kind words.
If you need a good restaurant recommendation I always love sticks n sushi while I am there! So many good places though
Great to see you back in the sky.
I see you a sports gamer. Love it. Have not played madden in years
I can’t throw a football in real life but love Madden
I like that new intro for Kirkland airlines.
Darren, as posted, my day is finally completed 😤
Informative and great video, as usual!
You probably already know this but Steve Giordiano's Speedtape Films Series on RUclips is a fantastic watch
Darren whats up man! I always wonder when I see the 773 and I see DFW-LHR flying over TUL if thats you on board.
I got back to training last week.
Great video as always!
The Mach-e is surprisingly common police vehicle in NYC, weird to see one as an ambulance
756 FO for Sam’s Club airlines
Black Bear Exmouth Market is my go to London meal. Brisket Burger and Brisket spring rolls never disappoint
Love the informative videos! Saw the pmdg (I think lol) in the parking, how does it fair up to the real jet?
Love the content sir! I would love learn from you and be a mentee once I am at your airline 🙏🏿
bro that is awesome as hell
You might as well make a video on some of your favorite spots in London that not a lot of people know about since you go there a lot

I need VNAV to work in the FF 777. It’s per important for actual simmimg
@@geekontheflightdeck Yup! Hopefully they will get it hooked up soon.

That could bypass seniority. For many reasons the airline and pilot union have not made that agreement.
God, I can imagine how much of a hassle it would be to bring an outlet adapter every trip lol
I have a world wide adapter. Not really a hassle
Are the sunglasses with the camera allowed to be used? And can you record in the cockpit with them?
Zero filming period in the flight deck from 10 minutes before departure until after we get to the gate.
Great video as usual! Have you flown the PMDG 777 yet and I am curious of what your thoughts are on it?
I have. Great place but the underlying flight sim is so frustrating. I’m waiting for Flight Factor to get their v2 777 working
Is about time they give you that 4 stripe
I’ve had it before. Could have had it years ago again. Prefer QOL over $ and a stripe.

14:22 do you ever wish they made standard RNAV intersections to define tracks instead of lat/long positions.
That sounds ideal but the jet streams change often. They are built for weather and wind optimization.
How about a video on what you pack for international trips
I’m only able to hold reserve which means I can’t really pick trips out beyond what is currently uncovered.

What is the normal landing flaps for ur airline on the 777? 25 or 30?
Normally pilots choice. Most use 25
have you ever performed a sidestep
Yes. Not in the 777 but in other aircraft
How far do you stay from brick lane or delicious Indian restaurants like dishoom?
