- Big change in my content. My employer contacted me stating I can't have any company property in any video. This will greatly change my content. Hopefully you still enjoy it. I will work to edit previous videos to see if they can be reposted.
Thanks Darren. That's a shame about not being able to video the aircraft. However, I find your videos outside just as interesting and informative.
Shame on American for not allowing you to film any part of the plane.
Even with all the restrictions AA has put on you, the video was still great! Thanks for continuing to do these!
Thanks for sharing your videos 👍
Thank you for sharing your trip.😊😊
I have loved coming from Chicago ORD to London on my former airline's 777-300.
Enjoying the long form content. Thanks for bringing us along.
Great stuff Darren. Looking forward to the next flight.
A little disappointing about the new filming rule, but I still very much enjoyed the video! These are invaluable!
Great Video!!! Lots of insight; more please!!!!
Love this format ! Seen you on TikTok for a while now and this showed up on my feed
Subscribed! Thanks for the excellent perspective!
Really enjoy your videos, thank you.
Man I love your insight...keep it up Darren
Great video Darren. Looking forward to the footage of the PMDG 777. Perhaps some PMDG 777 airline procedure videos in the future? Glad to have found your channel, great stuff.
Great video Darren!
great video Darren. TY
Great video! Love these vlogs they’re great!
Format is an improvement. Thanks for the video!
Great video.....Please do more of this type of content !
The format isn't bad actually. Still very informative. Thank you!
Great video, love all the info
Bummer you couldn’t film or take picks but you still were able to make a great video (as always). I look forward to the next video!
I love these videos, hope we get more of these. Thanks
Thanks for the video. Eventually, all the tracks will be gone, and it will be all random routes. Hope to fly with you sometime!
Like your videos Darren..
These longer videos are great; keep up the excellent work!
It's too bad a particular airline, which may or may not be featured in my profile picture, doesn't allow you to show off the jets anymore; it's a weird move by them. It was a great way to promote the airline, lol
Oh my gosh, I just discovered your channel and I am absolutely in love with it! I am a former FA, now a 911 dispatcher, but still a huge AV Geek! From the AV, to TS (i saw her in MSP), I love everything about this channel!!
Also your glasses are quite literally everything!! They suit you so well!
So does AA not allow any filming in the aircraft then?
Disregard - I paused and read that your airline reached out to you to tell you you're not permitted to film, despite the other channels that the airline must be aware of. *sigh* Super sorry to hear that.
Love the videos!
Absolutely love the content, been watching since early days tiktok. You should add sections to the timeline on the video! Keep up the awesome content creation
Maybe. I avoided RUclips for years as it was much more complicated than TikTok. I’ll consider it in the future. The editing and piecing together takes a considerable amount of time as is.
@@geekinthecockpit5451 Understandable. We’re all here to support regardless!
Thanks, Darren - good stuff. You had a great video explaining the oceanic enroute actions - the fuel/waypoint tracking against the OFP, waypoint crossing duties, etc. I'd love to see that one come back edited or perhaps you could run through it with a Smbrief generated OFP? Thanks!
Thank you. I’ll try and make a dedicated crossing video
I really appreciate you allowing us to follow your videos. Question. On short haul trips, do the same FO and Captain stay together for every leg of the journey, or do you fly with someone different after every landing during the day? Example: DFW - ATL - CLT - PHL all with the same pilots?
Most of the time yes. Full trip 1-5 days together
Miss your lives ... Thanks for sharing as always. Every clip i learn something. Hows is the adjustment going ?
I go live on instagram in the afternoons. It’s a huge change. At the end of the month I plan on a full review of how reserve went. Thank you for the kind words
FRA is heavy heaven to,lotssssss of widebodies!!!!!!
like the new style 👍
Love this!!
So glad I have your content back after the Tiktok exodus! Love watching. Thanks Darren!
Ok, so as an FB on Reserve. The three trips that were open on the initial day of filming. The company asked you which one of the three you wanted? Do you have to accept one of the trips, or can you turn all three down that day? Also, those blue framed glasses that you were wearing in London look great! 👍🏻
very interesting. At LHR T4 crew boards the aircraft like normal passengers, So its different at LHR T3? where its directly from bus?
It varies by gate I’m told.
Tks for your reply
Hey Darren,
Odd question, does the union publish a list of legal medications? To my knowledge, the FAA doesn't publish a list but the AOPA does... for their price of admission, lol.
We have a fantastic Aeromedical department. I can email them what I’d line to take and get back detailed but very easy to understand data. You can look at leftseat.com for data as well
Why does Gander Center make tracks with just lat/long coordinates? Why couldn’t they make named waypoints? I think that would be easier IMO.
They change every day depending on wind/weather. If they name them one day, they would not be the same the next day
Great video! Real shame that AA have told you not to film the aircraft, how bizarre, I hope they change their stance for you.
Do yall get to eat all the business/first class courses? (starter AND entree?)
Nope. Dedicated crew meals. Higher quality than narrow body but different than first class.
When you’re resting/sleeping while in flight, are you getting paid for those hours spent asleep?
Yep paid to sleep. Full trip value is paid but not all logged. I’ll make a video at some point
Really awesome video Darren. Why are new tracks made every day? Wouldn't it be easier to create standard published tracks and leave them? Is it wx related?
Yep weather related. With the volume of traffic in a non RADAR environment the deviations would be excessive. Thank you for the kind words
Not only that, but the winds change every day. The tracks are built to take advantage of the winds. So the jet stream may be up near Greenland one day and then way further south the next day. The tracks will be build accordingly.
Hey Darren, I subscribed. A wish as a new viewer: experiment with slowing your speech for the viewers!
Welcome. I have a speech impediment and do the best I can. I have a stutter I constantly battle. I think much faster than I talk.
Can you explain cost index please Darren?
Yep. I’ll try and make it a quick video
9999 is the highest cost index for Boeing and 0 is the lowest. 0 is basically telling the plane I want to save the most money per hour and you'll fly at a slow airspeed. The higher the cost index number, you're telling the plane, I want to go faster and don't care about fuel cost. For example cost index of 0 you'll cruise at mach .83 burning 10,000lbs of gas per hour. At 500 cost index, you'll fly around mach .87 burning 15,000lbs of gas per hour.
@@TB-um1xzis that all Boeings? I fly the 737 and it’s always 25 or 30. I figured it just went up to 100. Is the 777 different?
@Micg51 not sure about the 737. But the widebody can go that high.
Airlines are really tightening the filming standards. Frustrating and to what end?
I've been basically retired for two years now. You guys have it made. When I started flying London on the DC-10-30 it was a 3 man crew with no breaks and a 9 waypoint INS system. F/B now makes what I did as a 767 captain. Sheeeesh.
Thanks Darren. FYI intermediate LHR hold points near the runway thresholds- 09R (aircraft manufacturers), 09L (animals), 27L (Scottish) and 27R (planets and moons) 👍🏻
Interesting
Weird why some are allowed to film and some are not. 🙁
It is what it is. There’s been a long standing rule. I was contacted. That’s all that matters.
Dang long haul looks fatiguing on the body
It is. But typically, we have longer overnights and more days off at home.
If we’re being technically correct - AA doesn’t fly the 772 or 773… 77E and 77W yes…
What do most people know them as? How are they denoted in my manuals? I’ll give you a hint. Not ever you stated.
Do your manuals say 777-300ER or 777-323ER? (N735AT / 7LV is my favorite.)
They reference 777-300 and 777-200 almost exclusively the exact model designations aren’t used except in the overall operations manual for fleet descriptions
