  • I'm going from fairly senior to VERY junior. A whole new world for me being so junior and on a plane that travels the world. My first month bidding will be interesting. I suspect I will get reserve.

    You are as real as they come, no B.S. I like your channel. I am a sim pilot but learning as if I will fly a real one some day but nope. That door is closed for me. However I find it very interesting.

    Since the 777 fleet is smaller than the a320 fleet, it will be interesting to see how much more often you fly with the same Captains.

    Thanks for these videos Darren. I can’t imagine there’s too much of this for a DFW base, but are you aware of any pilots doing commuting from overseas? I’m curious how crew doing that make it work. Again, thanks for these videos…it’s great getting perspective on how schedules and bidding work at a major.

    Very good and insightfull explanation of pilot life @AA in general. You really found a niche which explains much of what I wanted to know as a pilot about flying @ AA. Are you bonded for a period of time since I cannot imagine the company will allow you to try the 777 then move to the A320 and then another type just because your seniority allows it. 2nd question If I would join on a type before you did would you still hold seniority over me on your base, the type or when creating the schedule. Thanks for the videos!

    What routes do you think are most favorable among AAL B777 pilots out of DFW? For instance, I heard one AAL FO say he liked LAX-SYD vs LAX-LHR because there's 4 pilots vs. 3 per flight, so they get more rest time during flight. Also, did you have enough seniority to bid 787 FO vs. 777 FO, and if so why did you choose the 777? Thanks

    Hello great video! Question I hve for you when you go to a new plane does your pay go back to year one? So say you were year 7 Cpt pay on 320s do you go to year one 777 FO or year 7 for being at the company for “7 years”. Obviously to be Cpt you’d be there longer I’d imagine

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  5 месяцев назад +1

      At this, and most airlines, your pay is tied to years with company not a seat or aircraft. If I go to 737 Captain tomorrow I would be in year 7 Captain even though I’ve never flown it

    I want to go to AA in the future and live in DFW, how were your schedules at 737/320? (like how many legs per day, a lot of regional flying?, overnights?) Are you trying to stay in WB until you upgrade to WB CA? if so, how long do you expect for that to take? Thanks!

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  5 месяцев назад +1

      Legs were 1-3 per day, leg length depends on what you want. I wanted fewer but longer legs when I was senior so I rarely did more than 2 flights a day my last year on it. I’m not staying until I can hold WB CA most likely.
