I wouldn't worry too much about talking fast, this is youtube, and that's you. I think it makes everything feel genuine. Thanks for all the detailed insight from Perth, Australia!
One thing I really like about this channel is the realness. For student pilots like me or others, it helps to get a real picture of what its actually going to be like not sugarcoated. I feel like there is a bunch of fake BS out there
Great video again. Next time you go walk about near London Eye walk along the Thames away from Big Ben to Barrow Market. Great food , nice pubs and really good atmosphere. I think you will like it.
Another interesting video Darren. Yes you talk fast but I bet you can think fast too! And I’ve tuned into you so it all makes perfect sense. Keep up the good work.
Hey Darren love the transition from TikTok to RUclips and Instagram. Small constructive criticism if you would allow me to. I love the style of the video but I am finding it really hard to listen and read at the same time. I have to either pay attention to what you are saying or read and ignore you neither of which I want to do. My other option is to constantly pause the video, read it, and then resume but that gets annoying quick. Also it makes it hard to watch the videos if I'm doing something else since I am missing a lot of critical information on the text. I think a "podcast" style video were everything is talked might work a little better, not sure. Love the videos tho.
I appreciate that as I to listen to videos in the background (I’m currently watching Tavarish while cleaning a closet. I just don’t like “talking head” videos as it’s just a guy on a screen. I can try and find a balance
I was just in London last month. Flew a Virgin A350 from LAX and a Virgin Dreamliner on the way back to L.A. I remember hitting turbulence in the Airbus while we were holding over London on approach and we were rocking for sure 😅
1. Customs rake cabin/cockpit crew over the coals. All these restrictions. But the cockpit crew have a fire axe in the cockpit. 2. If you're having an issue w/your stutter, try singing the text to stop it. I hope that helps.

Brake to Vacate is a modern Airbus thing as I understand it. Maybe in the future Boeing will have something similar but I suspect that the moment they have bigger fish to fry.
@@geekontheflightdeck You probably heard about the new-to-widebodies Lufthansa pilot at LAX some weeks ago. Seriously thought your story was going in the same direction. Glad your landing turned out better!
Is this because in DFW a person with say 50% plus seniority can have a better life style as a commuting triple FO than that seniority would get them as a Narrow body Capt? I’m guessing the huge domestic network into DFW makes the base attractive for commuters.
There are some exceptions to "everone speaks english...." ... Flying in france ... keeping "situational awarness up" is not possible when you dont speak french ^^
English is the official language. Locals might speak the local language to was other but must speak aviation English to me and others. So in fact everyone does speak English but they might not always opt to.
@@geekontheflightdeck im not talking about atc they speak English with you, but a lot of french with others, so that is what it makes hard to get an idea of what other pilots are intended to do, e.g. getting takeoff clearance on the rwy you are on final...

On the other hand .... the way US ATC is providing landing clearances feels like something highly forbidden, it feels wronng to readback a landing clearance as nr 3, 4 ... and you know that you dont know if the runway is clear of any traffic., it feels wrong, a "no-go", the same as intentionally cross a red traffic light in a car :)

Yep. Part of my stutter is how I think faster than I talk. I feel like I’m almost slurring when I speak slower
I'm the same Darren. My mind is faster than I can speak so I stutter or slur my words.
It’s always something like ‘behind the departing British airways Airbus A320 via NB10 line up and wait runway 27L behind’
Recently discovered your channel, and I love it👍🏻
Had the Chicken Big Mac in Kuwait, very good, they are bringing it here to Orlando also.
I've never even noticed you talking fast so don't worry about it. I enjoy your videos! Be well!
Thanks for sharing!!! Getting comfortable on 77 👍🏽

I'm in the same position as you Darren - FO 777 - but based in Brazil, here LHR is one of the most senior routes

Maybe. It’s complicated. I understand it from my end but from a dispatch/teaching end it’s different. Thank you for the kind words
Chicken Big Mac , what 😂
Another good video
Awesome!!
When you mentioned that the Captain didn't participate in the "How are you", really bugs me... its common courtesy
I know, it’s gonna be a loooong trip if they don’t do that.
Great video Darren, but I didn’t understand what the problem was with the landing?
My landing? He felt I started my flare late which could result in a hard/bounced/firm landing
And thank you.
Cheer’s!!!
It seems that B772 or B77W out of DFW do not have that many variety of destinations compared to the B787.
Yep. 4 years ago it was the opposite. The 787 is now much more senior than the 777. I am 1000 numbers from holding the 787 in DFW. That’s years away
Darren, does company have a rule on when you need to stop hand flying and engage autopilot?
There’s no role I’m aware of that’s issued by the company excluding auto lands. It’s the appropriate use of automation. There are FAA and ICAO rules.
Why no BTV on Boeing aircraft?
Burlington Vermont?

05:39 When you went to purchase the chocolate for your wife at LEONIDAS, did you yell, "This is Sparta!!" inside the store?
What was your one mistake on landing? Didn’t catch your explanation.
I began my flare at 30 feet and not 50 feet.
@@geekontheflightdeck You probably heard about the new-to-widebodies Lufthansa pilot at LAX some weeks ago. Seriously thought your story was going in the same direction. Glad your landing turned out better!
how long did it take you to get to a wide body ?
6 years in my base. Could have been half that if I wanted to commute.
Thanks for the video. How long until you think you'll get to line holder?
Years

It's actually behind landing traffic line up runway " " behind. You have to say behind twice.
Its to make yourself sure its meant behind..... and there is a very obvious pause before the last behind and its more stressed ... beeeh-hiiind^^ :)
@VonycBln that's why I was pointing it out to him. He missed the second behind
I’ve only heard it twice. Hence my mistake. It’s new to me.
@geekinthecockpit5451 no worries, I didn't know either till I got yelled at by a controller in Dubai.
