Nice to see you here. YT def has some advantages (landscape showing approach plates yada yada). In a later vid you mention RJTT or EGLL. Speaking as a passenger, at least the Tokyo part is some serious jet lag...
Congratulations Darren! I have a question. I see that you have several ratings in regional jets, also in DC9s, before the A320, and now the B777. Do you have a video where you describe your career progression from the regionals to AA? Thanks in advance.
@@geekontheflightdeck wow! It would be amazing for you to do it! Looking forward to seeing it in the future! It would be a perfect time in your career to reminisce how you made it to a Legacy B777 👍🏼
Keeping it simple. The airline announces opening for various fleets. Pilots can request to fly a certain plane as Captain or First Officer. They are awarded in seniority order.
Darren will your QOL improve at all with this jump? I know pay might be better in long run due to wide body and international overrides and better scaling rates with widebodies but will you still get good days off, time with fam, etc.
My prediction will be better QOL but lower annual pay. Reason being. Fewer credit hours. I’m going from $230 an hour to $287 but from an average of 115 credit hours a month to likely 76.
Great Video, Can’t wait to see your first Trip as a Boeing-777 Pilot.
777 is such an amazing aircraft to fly I hope you enjoy flying it
Congrats on the new ride!!!!!!
That is awesome Darren! Congratulations. Love flying on Air Canada's 777's. Cheers from CYYB.

What approach do you substitute at your airline if the ILS is out if your SOP’s call for no LPV?
RNAV RNP GPS LOC VOR

I don’t have a specific video like that but sounds like a great idea for the future.

Hey Darren! Just curious not sure if you know this, but why do your SOPs call for no LPV? It’s essentially the GPS version of an ILS, isn’t it?
I don’t know the answer to that.
Curious question - as a Pilot, are you able to request simulator time to do extra training if you wanted?
Not after passing an event. Sitting an event it's possible
How do you switch to different plane
Keeping it simple. The airline announces opening for various fleets. Pilots can request to fly a certain plane as Captain or First Officer. They are awarded in seniority order.
Why is the 787 more popular than the 777?
It’s newer and more fuel efficient but doesn’t carry near the cargo a 777 can underneath
