    I was using a deck mop for my house, but after I watched one of your older videos about how to properly mop your floors, I went out and bought a microfiber mop. Man, you can definatley see a difference!

    I just mopped like 15 minutes ago! Lol.... I use a microfiber mop, specifically, a cedar brand.... I used to use a deck mop for my house and wondered why my floors never looked clean.... I switched mops about a year ago and I'm extremely happy with it! I've also been moping with dish soap for about 4 years because my son has allergies to certain things. I love your videos and any time I need to clean something the right way, I view one of your videos. You have helped me stay on top of the mess in my house and taught me how to cut my cleaning time in half. Thank you!

    Recently I just got into cleaning routine (yes, I'm gross and disgusting and lazy like that) and your videos are my go-to cleaning videos (plus, the videos are super inspiring!) I've been using deck mop for my house and I can tell you how frustrating it is! Not only hairs and dust sticking in the cotton fibers, it looks yucky too (one of many reasons why I hate mopping) After watching this, I want to try out microfiber mop. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us!

    I recently started watching your channel. A couple of months ago I picked up the O Cedar spin mop. The first time I used it I had to throw it into the washing machine. Since I find that it cleans very well and isn't grungy after each use. But I still throw into the washer when done. The spinner on the bucket really dries the mop out well. It is the best mop I've ever used.

    I agree w/ Jon Boll, most bros just aren't taught these things growing up. Anyway after much studying up on mops, I decided to go "straight to 11" and bought the Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro mop. However before mopping, I use the Hoover Elite Rewind Plus vacuum. No buckets, no sweeping, no stress, all machines, saves space, works for me. Your videos are gold btw!

    I love mopping with my Casabella original mop. I have hardwood and ceramic tile. The Casabella squeezes out really really well and the mop head is firm, allowing me to really scrub. This mop along with my Dyson V10 vacume allows me to get my floors much cleaner. I have three cats and a golden retriever, and the floors are still pretty clean ! With these tools, it’s actually not a chore, and it’s pretty satisfying. And I’m a reluctant cleaner.

    Ever since I started watching your show I mop my floors about every month or so. I use a flat head O-Cedar mop with a Swiffer. I've had a little trouble deciding on a good floor cleaner. I tried the dish soap method but felt it was a tiny bit stickier finish than my No Wax Armstrong cleaner but they stopped making that cleaner all together! I loved that super smooth finish. Tried Method floor cleaner but it's super sticky finish afterwards. Now using a combo of diluted dish soap and afterwards diluted vinegar on my tile and laminate floors. Love your channel, Melissa!

      Hi I have a house cleaning service for the last 30 years. And I've been using these kinds of mops the stringy mops that are like little sponges for many many years. I have about 12 of them and I wash them after every use in every house. I usually have to buy new ones once a year. I do tile floors and a lot of stone floors. Does stringy spongy mops are the best. You cannot wash a deck mop in the washing machine. They are the worst mops ever. Thank you.

    I just picked up a Swiffer Wet and Dry mop and it has been the biggest blessing of my life..I was just diagnosed with Degenerative Disc disease in my back and it only takes me 5 min. And done with hardly no effort too! When b4 with a reg. Deck mop it would take me about 1 hour and I'd do it in 4 sections at a time, while I could sit down and dry it with a floor fan? Huge, huge life changer for me❤❤❤

    My favourite never fail mop is one called a spin mop ..
    The head is round, has microfibre 'hair' and you squeeze it using the foot pedal and it literally spins the water out ... when our first one died we bought a different type and totally regretted it. I will never turn back now :)
    By the way, great videos!! I've actually been enjoying cleaning my house lately ... I'm doing it in the right headspace and its waaaay more fun :)

    Thanks for your video. I feel that people should use what they want, so I'm not trying to push my preference on others, just trying to share why I made my choice. I used regular brooms and mops most of my life, but they aren't too good at cleaning. Some years ago, when Swiffer came out with their first model, a dry sweeper, I needed a new broom. I had seen the commercials on TV, and then checked one out in the store. It was extremely lightweight, which is important for disabled people, and I liked how well it had seemed to work in the commercials, so I bought it. I later bought a Swiffer duster too. The head on my first Swiffer broom eventually broke. I kept the stick to help me walk to and from my mailbox, and to keep my bathroom door propped open when I had a fan on in the hall. I kept missing my Swiffer broom because it was so easy to use, but didn't get around to buying a new one until a while after I moved to a handicapped accessible apartment. I finally bought a new one, but upgraded to a wet & dry version. I had also bought a wheeled office chair to use in the kitchen. I scoot around the kitchen in that chair as I do my chores. Because Swiffers are so light and easy to use I even sweep the kitchen floor while sitting down in my wheeled office chair. Most of the mess gets thrown out with the pad, and I just use a damp paper towel to pick up and throw away the little bit that's left. I also like the wet pads for mopping the floors, but one should sweep or vacuum the floor before mopping it.
    For really dirty outside use, I do still recommend using the old fashioned mops and brooms, but for inside, my Swiffer is a big help.
    I get around with a rolling walker, or 2 canes, or scoot around the kitchen on an office chair now, so I really appreciate a lightweight cleaning tool that actually works. If others like a different product that's cool, but my Swiffer works well for me.

    I mopped about 45 mins ago, something I do weekly. Just about any regular mop I've used as left ugly water stains on my floors so after some searching, I made a cover for my flathead broom using a microfiber towel and use that along with a floor cleaning mix recipe in a spray bottle (equal mix of water, vinegar and rubbing alcohol with 1 tbs of dishshoap). I spray the mix on the floor then I wipe off with the microfiber mop, one small section at a time. Much like exercise, I prefer to get that done early in the day so that I have to deal with it later because of all my chores, floor cleaning is what takes most of my time.

I recently cleaned 4 rooms that have hardwood floors using a sponge mop. I squeezed it several times to reduce water drips. It worked quite well. However, after viewing this video, I am now switching to a micro fiber cloth attached to my swiffer. Gonna try that soon. Oh, and I am buying a package of micro fiber clothes from you soon. • @chikusr
    @chikusr 10 лет назад +1

    what I find helpful in cleaning laminate and tiled flooring after vaccuming is using 2 thick cotton cloths, 1 used for wet which i soak and ring in water with soda crystals and a couple of tea tree oil and lanvendar oil and place cloth on floor and put my foot on it and clean and rinse in solution til all flooring is done and then go over the areas with the dry cloth. I suffer from multiple arthritic conditions and for me this method works best as I am getting a low impact physio exceesise at the same time as cleaning😊

They take forever to clean.....but then I saw a video from someone (I can’t remember who, and I’m so sorry to that person!) and they suggested using a sponge mop. It works SO GOOD!! I later on moved from a sponge mop to using my window washing mop. It’s got a microfiber type cloth and then you turn it over & there is a squeegee. Super fantastic for windows and, as it turns out, for walk-in tile showers!! 👍🏻

    • @kona6812
      @kona6812 4 года назад +2

      @@sparklyrainbowbunny noooo steam mop on laminate! Laminate is a foto on chipwood! If you steam it water will soak into the chipwood and the edges will swell! Better take a alcohol base cleaner and use as less water as possible (I spray the solution onto my mop myself)!

    • @kona6812
      @kona6812 4 года назад +2

      @The Unknown vacuum the floor first, then mop it. If it is persist dirt than appley little solution direct on the spot and let time work for you, but not on the edges! After 2 or 3 minutes wipe it off with the mop. The mop should never be wet, so you don't ever have streaks. You can ask for melamine sponges to get rid off the most difficult adhesions.

    Hi Melissa! I hate vacuuming too. I bought a Eufy robot vacuum (I run it twice a day because I have 2 dogs). It is AMAZING...you should get one. Anyway, I used to use a microfiber mop but got tired of how inefficient it seemed. Now I use a newer version of the deck mop...called the Libman Tornado mop (needs no bucket to wring!). It's very very absorbent and I don't have to constantly re-dip. Hope this is useful! Have a great day and thanks for the video :)

    • @lorineidtinytoadplot744

      I agree with her but, I don't get on my hands and knees, I use a mop with a flat bottom, the sturdy kind, and about 3 or 4 cotton towels, depending how dirty the floor is. I find the plastic wash cloths / micro fiber don't absorb and just smear dirt all over. Cotton absorbs the dirt and grime without leaving streaks.
      After I'm done I throw all the cotton towels ( had towel or dish towel ) in the washing machine with the dog bed and some cotton rugs, if they need to be washed. Easy peasy, and clean ☕💃
      PS my dog bed is a small blanket or a dark colored towel so its easy to just throw in the wash.

      It is true. I found a way around it. No need. Just make sure when the mop water begins to change color dump it, rinse the mop, and keep going. Sweep big debris then vacuum the floor prior to mopping. Vacuuming after sweeping will show you that a lot is on the floor after a sweep. Make sure your mop water doesn't turn black. As soon as the mop water turns colors dump it. I tend to dump multiple times when mopping. Cleaner mop water leads to better results. Sometimes you need to mop twice if it is really dirty. After the mop water dries vacuum the floor again (you can vacuum the next day if you get tired). I vacuum a lot. Get good claning stuff. Buy namebrand mops like o-cedar microfiber and see if it helps.

    The last time I mopped was on Sunday. My new puppy bit my boxers ear and he bled all over the garage floor. We used a disposable mop head. In my home, I use the swiffer sweeper after I use the broom to pick up anything I missed. Then I use a swiffer wet pad to mop with a spray of rubbing alcohol as a quick pre treat. However! I mop the entire house once a week and do spot cleaning as needed : ) and I only use the Libman now. I love your tip about the sponge mop for the walls!

    I have a lot of ceramic tile. The last time I "mopped" my floors I used my Pro-Aqua squeegee-type system. When my son mops, he uses a regular "deck" mop, I have used all the mops in your video, and they all have their uses, although I found the sponge mops don't last very long. What I like about my Pro-Agua system is that I don't have to do any wringing or bucket lifting/moving, the floor dries really fast, and since the cleaning solution is fresh with each pass, the pleasant aroma isn't diminished by the dirty water build-up in a bucket (which requires dumping and re-filling to keep fresh).

    Sometimes you just have to take what life gives you. 'Cause life is like a mop, and sometimes life gets full of dirt and crud and bugs and hairballs and stuff... you, you, you gotta clean it out. You, you, you gotta put it in here, and rinse it off and start all over again. And, and sometimes, sometimes life sticks to the floor so bad, you know a mop, a mop, it's not good enough, it's not good enough. You, you gotta get down there, like, with a toothbrush, you know, and you gotta, you gotta really scrub 'cause you got to get it off. You gotta really try to get it off. But if that doesn't work, that doesn't work, you can't give up. You gotta, you gotta stand right up. You, you gotta run to a window and say, *"Hey! These floors are dirty as hell, and I'm not gonna take it any more!"*

      1. There is a difference between "sterilizing" and "disinfecting". Sterilizing is killing ALL microorganisms on the surface and IMPOSSIBLE without special machine. As an example, surgical instruments are not disinfected, they are sterilized; floors in a hospital are disinfected. Disinfection can be done by using chemicals like bleach, using UV light or simple boiling.
