Your essential oil hack could be dangerous for skin. Really you should dilute a few drops of essential oil in a teaspoon/so of a base/carrier oil. SOME essential oils CAN be used directly on skin, others will burn your skin, & sometimes the damage can be permanent. Essential oils are 'natural', but you do need to follow some rules to make sure you are using them safely. I'm aware the way you were using it was different, but you still have to be careful to dilute it first. I'm a qualified aromatherapist btw.
Another safer way is to use a sprinkle of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in shoes, tap it out the next morning. Bicarb is great for eliminating odors and cleans & refreshes shoes. Same with carpets. Our daughter is allergic to/gets contact dermatitis to a lot of products, so we always make our own 'carpet powder' with plain old sodium bicarb and I often add food-safe orange extract, cinnamon powder or mint tea leaves to it to help 'perfume'/fragrance it. Works well!
I like that you opt for natural detergents and acids to clean instead of these harmful chemicals that we are flooded with on the market.
This video is like 50 shades of clean my space... and I'm into it!

Except we're not dirty, we're clean 🤣

"It really works people"
I love cleaning so Housekeeping is a magic word to me.
My holiday cleaning is a joy at the moment so thank you again.
Thanks for sharing!!
As a young adult, a friend of mine taught me to turn my clothes inside out before drying. In that way, the inside of the garment fades, while the outer side holds its color longer. I use a line now, and do the same thing.
Another added benefit to your last hack about peppermint essential oil in the car: During this pandemic I drove a LOT less and there were times my car sat for weeks in the garage. I found out mice can find their way INTO your car (and mine is not an old model). My mechanic said there is no way to stop up all the potential openings. But mice are repelled by peppermint, so a few drops of peppermint on a cotton ball in your glove compartment has been enough to keep the mice out of my car. So no more nesting in my glove box. Whew!
Ewwwwww! Mice poop!!Ya they don't like mint!!!
Balsam Fir Oil is also a rodent repellent. There is a product made by “earthkind” for this reason, which has fir scented pouches of some kind of plant fibers. Of course these can be made at home. The box says that one bag lasts 30 days, (or just refresh the bags with a few drops of oil). They work great
This works great for travel trailers too. Our camper sits in outside storage, and while we sealed every possible entry point we could find, I like to spray peppermint oil in various places as well as open up a couple of bags of eucalyptus mint Epsom salts.
Excellent idea for the mice, especially with the mice we have here, that carry the Hantavirus! And mice can do so much damage too. Thanks!
Hmmm e just spent 150.00 at the dealership for cleaning out a squirrel nest from the heating fan case in the hubbies truck…. Getting that minty cotton ball in there today❣️ thank you so much
Lavender essential oil also retards mildew growth...and orange oil cuts grease, so they are both in the vinegar with a splash that I use to clean EVERYTHING!
I clean professionally using Only home made solutions, so a Big Yay from me on the cleaning potions!
That’s a good idea. I have a ton of eucalyptus oil and the smell is incredible.
Plz share proportion of lavender and orange and vinegar ratio
What ratio do you use?
Not too scientific: I fill my spray bottle with up to 50/50 vinegar and water then add about 10-20 drops each of orange and lavender. I go heavy on the vinegar as I want to get oxygen bubbles when I add to baking soda for scrubbing and a bit of bleaching that's easy on my hands.
My dryer has a steam setting to reduce wrinkles. You might want to look closely at your dry settings and see if you have this setting and didn’t realize it 💕
Pro tip from a professional jeweler: use dish soap and cleaning ammonia instead of rubbing alcohol. This mimicks professional cleaning solution and won't ruin any jewelry. (Works even better in an ultrasonic cleaner too)
My daughter has played softball her entire life (now 17) travel ball, recreational ball, & school ball. I’d safely estimate that 90% of the teams she’s been on had WHITE as their either pant color or socks 🙄. One year while complaining about the insanity and trying to get and keep them clean all season long another mom told me to try a couple caps of MURPHY’S OIL (yes the hardwood cleaner) in the load of whites and they would come clean. I thought for sure that she was either crazy or without a doubt the oily residue left behind would make the laundry much worse but desperate I tried it and I was absolutely shocked at the results. It really works and doesn’t leave any residue. I actually use about 4 caps in all of my laundry now including my colors and my towels and it works amazingly. Way better than oxy clean or bleach or anything thing else I’ve ever tried. 😉
Thank you!
@@danielpropst8171 oooo I am definitely going to try Murphy soap!!!
I use regular crest toothpaste for cleaning jewelry and silver.
Yes, plug your sink! 😎
Love all these hacks. I pause the video after a hack, go do it in my home and start on the next one. It's a great motivator.
With a fair degree of skepticism, I tried your hack for cleaning the overhead hood filters as that's been one of my pet peaves for quite some time. I've always used degreaser and have not been fully satisfied with results. To my very pleasant surprise, this hack did work really well. I used a cookie baking sheet instead of the bucket for the added benefit of getting it all done at one time. A quick rinse with hot water and done. Thanky you.
So the essential oil in the vacuum tip reminded me of my Mom! She used to have a big old canister vac and she'd spritz a bit of her perfume in the bag. The house always smelled like White Diamonds! :)
I didn't use Elizabeth Taylor's 🤍💎 but my husband at that time loved a really expensive parfume and I couldn't stand the smell on me so he would spray the vacuum and our furnace humidifier. 🙄😷🤢 I had forgotten all about that until I read your comment. LOL
I love this! Thanks for sharing.
White Shoulders ❤️
Thanks to this tip I've damage my vacuum! Moist and dast trapped together-not good combination
Baking soda and damp sponge
Now I feel like staying home from work today and cleaning. Great hacks!!
OMG! You are SO Smart...and precious! I am 67 yo. You are as smart as my grandmother! Love love you and your channel!!! Thank you for your videos!!!!
I love how the products are easily accessible and generally enviro friendly.
As a person who finds cleaning tasks exremely boring but trying to be an adult by dealing with her own sht anyways, i've found this video having full of brilliant info for me! Tysm❤
Have to say you always have good suggestions. Many of them are to me (72) not "Hacks" just sensible old fashioned ways of doing things from my Mum and Grandmother circa post WW2 UK.
One of the best realistic videos I have ever seen
I genuinely don’t know why but I subscribed within the first two minutes of you talking 😅 I just instantly trusted you and knew this was going to be a channel with hella good household tips. Thank you!

I’m actually excited to clean the bathroom tomorrow with your baking soda and dish soap “pudding” hack! So thank you from this New Zealand fan 💜💜
Love cleaning hacks! I’m watching this while cleaning a doctors office haha my mom has cleaned doctors offices my whole 27 years of life and my brothers and I always came with her as kids and fought over who got to clean what because we thought it was so fun to help clean the waiting rooms and sinks lol. This is my fav cleaning channel!
Oh that’s so funny , we use to go with my mom too , she cleaned a dentist office and I always wanted to do the waiting room , that was about 40 years ago , wow that was a long time ago lol how can tat be
Hi dear i cleanup too x
Love your channel ! I went from being a slob to a clean freak thanks to you!
Great job Gabriel, we are proud of you!
The shoes in the dryer trick just changed my life!! Thank you!
I'm so HHHHHAPPPPPYYY that you are still making videos!!! I watched your video back years ago, then I had a new account and lost all my subscriptions. Now I own my own home, and I suddenly remember you!!! Thanks for all the great tips and tricks to keep our homes clean!
I love the smell of a clean home. 😊
Alot of old school cleaning tricks, vacuum bags we always used dryer sheets
You have an excellent communication style, simple, fun and not lengthy!👍
My late grandma long before the Internet existed always talked about white vinegar for cleaning. As a tech, I always used rubbing alcohol on keyboards, mice, motherboards, etc and you only need a little bit because it dissipates quickly. I have used a chip brush on keyboards for years now to dust them off. Baking soda is great to get rid of odors on plastics and in glass jars so you can reuse them but it lightens the coatings on aluminum baking pans. I always put my earrings into the cap of rubbing alcohol before wearing them and then rinsed the cap out with hot water. I love the satisfaction of how things look after cleaning them and working with my hands in general. Thanks for sharing and have a great holiday.
The vinegar in laundry works as booster! I am rewashing everything! It makes that much of a difference.
Many other great hacks.
Great channel - a Virgo ♍ dream channel 😏😉
After soaking the shower head don’t just pour the vinegar down the drain. You can reuse it to freshen up your drain by first pouring down a quarter to a half cup of baking soda before pouring the vinegar in. Leave it sit for an hour or overnight if you’d like and then pour some boiling water through the drain. This will help clean out any grease and gunk that may be building up and help leave your bathroom smelling fresher.
Vinegar YUCK! There's better stuff,u can use, with a better sent!
@@micheleruddle-evans6507 The vinegar odor does not linger at all
@@micheleruddle-evans6507The scent may not be great but vinegar is a great odor neutralizer. Letting it sit in the drain with baking soda would definitely help diminish bad odors.
😳 Please do NOT use if you have old cast iron pipes! If the vinegar sits in there, it starts eating a hole, and yes, I speak from personal experience.
@@kywifette5415 Oh! That is good advice! Never thought about that.
I like your cleaning hacks and i enjoy watching new ways to make cleaning easier. Of course being 76 yrs old I came across on my own, some of your hacks as well as my own. I liked using my vacuum cleaner and all of its tools. I would vacuum everything, (including the dogs and cats), once they got used to it, they simple loved it.
The person demonstrating the stainless steel cup cleaning was very cool 😎
You not only have the most best tips on cleaning, but I also take the info and use it to clean right after the video.
Thank you , Melissa!!!!
Always here to motivate you!
Thanks for sharing this.
The best cleaning hack I've found is dish soap and white vinegar in a dispenser dish brush that you keep in the shower to scrub when needed. My shower has never been cleaner.
Smart
Great idea! I like to clean the shower while I'm taking a shower. lol
Vinegar and newspaper for windows. Old school amazing.
To motivate myself to clean, I watch your videos! Thank you
Tip: A good way to clean between the keyboard keys: Use a makeup Fan Brush. Just get a cheap makeup fan brush, they fit right between the keys & you can use that to brush out all the dirt & if needed you can dip it in cleaning solution to kill germs.
I just vacuum w the fuzzy brush attachment
My experience with adding tennis shoes to the dryer is it causes them to come apart at the soles. My suggestion: if you find a pair of tennis shoes you like, buy two pair. While one is drying, wear the other pair.
Another tip: if you find great tennis shoes on sale for your kids, buy a couple sizes up. You won't be caught off guard when their shoes no longer fit.
No toilet fresh put clothes softer
My fave hack: I don't use dryer sheets in the dryer but I pop them inside cushions on the couch and it gives a nice fresh scent for about 3 months, you can also add essential oils to the sheet but need to check on the couch material first 😁
I find dryer sheets that aren’t used up in the dryer. Place one inside a pillowcase under the pillow. Also keep drawers fresh.
I put them at the bottom of my small trash cans, bathroom, bedroom, desk cans. Change the liner, change the dryer sheet. Usually lasts a couple weeks before it runs out of scent.
Sadly typical dryer sheet are Toxic

I put those stove screens in the dishwasher. Works like a dream.
Thank you for all the cleaning hacks and good vibes Melissa!!!!!!
LOVE all your cleaning hacks! And you, Melissa, are fantastic. You inspire me to clean!
Thanks so much for the great tips!!! You actually help make cleaning a fun experiment rather than a boring, necessary task!😊
I save foil, and crumple it up to clean the bbq grill with it. It's pliable so it cleans the grill pretty well.
I love your cleaning hacks! They have saved me so much time and I’m no longer frustrated with cleaning! I learned two new ones today. Keep the hacks coming!!

I have watched so many vids on cleaning how I hadn't seen you before today is mind boggling. Most of them are just hyper explanations with super type A people with voices to match. You are the antithesis to the average annoying cleaning vids. Such a delight thanks - I actually wanted to subscribe!
I love the way you are using essential oils for enhancing life and eliminating bad odors.
I love hacks and shortcuts. I've never enjoy cleaning & just do it because I have to, lol. When I hear things like these, I rejoice because they make cleaning quicker and more enjoyable. Thanks for these hacks, many I can put into use ASAP.
Today i put vinegar on a cotton pad, wrapped it around the tap, couple of hours later he limescale just fell off, hat hack gets a big 👍 from me
Have you ever watched "how clean is your house" they have lots of tips like this.ita British cleaning show .some disgusting houses be it great tips.
Omg i used to watch it all the time lol, yeah some of the houses where really disgusting, and thats where i got the vinegar tip from lol 😂

Standing ovation, Anona!
For me, it's the dawn dish soap and vinegar solution. It's works for shower scum on tiles and tub surface, polishes the metal hardware and faucets. Spray all over shower, wait approx 15 minutes, then lightly scrub and rinse. Sparkling shine every time! Can also use in metal kitchen sink and faucets.
What ratio?
@@CarniBarbiethe ratio that Melissa said in the video.
I began my next career as a housekeeper three months ago, after 15 years as a sham, and I’ve learned so many great tips on the job and from this channel!😍
My favorite is Dawn mixed with a spray bottle of white vinegar. I love how well and how quickly it cleans.
My husband teases me about the house smelling like a salad, but he appreciates how everything sparkles and that I’m getting my chores done a little quicker. (More snuggle time for us! 🥰)
Looove your comment so much, everything from the new career as a housekeeper to you and your husband having more snuggle time! 😊 All the best luck and happiness in your new career and to you and your family!
I just tried the tub solution and it did wonders on our 70 yr old tub. I used the extras on the sink and toilet. Thank you:)
My favorite DIY cleaning hack is equal parts hydrogen peroxide, dawn dish soap, and baking soda - this works on any stain on light colored clothing, but it absolutely removes the yellow under arm stains on men’s white undershirts. For years I struggled removing these yellow stains, and bleach only makes it worse. This is the only thing that has worked.
I'm going to try it. My husband uses white shirts for work. It's his uniform and I don't know how to get rid of those yellow stains. Thank you.
you mix all 3 ingredients, then apply and scrub gently with an out toothbrush and let sit for at least 1/2 hour. Then when you wash don’t use bleach - it actually doesn’t really whiten clothes all that well. The best whitener is a combo of 2 lemons and 1 cup each of washing soda and hydrogen peroxide - it is one of Melissa makers diy for whitener. However, I just use the juice from the lemons instead of the whole lemon (less messy that way).
Soaking in straight vinegar works too!
Ever tried milk?
Dishwashing liquid on the spots, let it overnight or two, and wash it hot with detergent for white.
I love it! Short, sweet and to the point - learn some new ones every time I watch - Thank you so much!!🥰
These tips are really great. And now I'm motivated to go do all of them. Thank you!
Melissa, I wish You, Chad and your Daughter a wonderful holiday season!
Thanks for all your help this year!
Thank you, Nancy! Same to you ❤️
I almost never throw away old toothbrushes 'cause they Always come in handy cleaning so many things. cleaning small grooves on devices like those gaming controllers, mouses, etc. scrubbing under shoes where there are usually patterned grooves that make it hard for anything else to reach. the nooks and crannies of my cats' food and water dispensers, or any other dishes with nooks like the threaded tops of bottles and tumblers. The washing machine filters. hairbrushes. dusting tiny ornaments. hardwater buildup around the faucet. any crevice in the house that even the crevice tool on the vacuum can't reach.
My mom taught me about cleaning toothbrushes my whole life but did you know you can heat the end of the handle with a lighter and then bend the head back to reach into corners? Love that.
Me too 😂 I never throw toothbrush....I clean my gold jewellery...they shine. I clean silverware using toothbrush and toothpaste...they shine and so on
I buy the “cheap” toothbrushes at Walmart. You can get about 5 or 6 toothbrushes for about $1.
@@cbro327 thank you. I was getting ready to make that comment. 😄
I think I am on hack #3 and my mind is already blown! This is my favorite video ever!
Most of these I've been doing for years but love the car mat one. Thanks!
I really love the cleaning hacks. Im so excited to try it too. Keep 'em coming.
For removing wrinkles/steaming clothes in the dryer, instead of adding in an article of wet clothing I toss a few ice cubes in on top of the clothes and start it. Once I stop hearing the cubes bang around, I let them toss for a few more minutes and pull them out.
Same!
Nice tip! Thank you!
Thank you Melissa for all your cleaning tips ,all that I use have been very helpful I really appreciate you & all you do to keep us all to have a clean house
I've watched your channel a couple years now and I love ALL your hacks. My most used one is the baking soda/dish soap cleaner. Game changer! Thanks for all you do and I hope your family is safe and well.
Hi Melissa - Great video, and I love hacks. I'm not a great cleaner, but I try and keep a somewhat clean home. So the easiest way is the best. Thanks for sharing and continued success. Love PegEgg
Great hacks, I love the tip with the essential oils for shoes! Thanks for all the cleaning motivation 💜
Spinkle an old box of baking soda inside sweaty runners. Takes away moisture and smells.
and purses
I love taking essential oils and putting them in a spray bottle with distilled water and spray in it on the carpet before I vacuum over it to deodorize the carpet. Great tips! Thanks for sharing!
Disperse the essential oil in a tablespoon of vodka first, essential oils do NOT disperse in water alone.
I have sent these ideas to my family. So many great ideas with things that uses ingredients that we have in our house. Thank you.
Love cleaning hacks. Another good one is to use wd40 to clean your stainless steel appliances. Thanks for sharing all your tips. Greetings from London 🇨🇦
No, no, no, that is a toxic chemical, use baking soda instead!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing this!
I LOVE cleaning hacks of any kind. Thanks again, Melissa! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You are so welcome!
Very helpful tips (and great boots, btw!)
Very glamourous looks! Love them!!! Thank you. I will have this on replay!
I love all the cleaning hacks. I especially like the diy cleaners. They clean great and without the harsh chemicals. You always have great tips and tricks. I don’t know if you talked about this already, but one thing I do after I vacuum either with my stick vacuum or my big corded vacuum is I clean the dirt cup and wash the filters after each use. I always have extra filters on hand so I don’t have to wait for the others to dry. It keeps your vacuum looking and working like new and I feel it greatly extends the life of the machine. It also keeps it from smelling bad. After all, vacuums are expensive and no one wants to keep having to replace them or having them not work well
Best things for rings and diamonds , soak in vodka x
I too. always wash out my vaccuum cup and filter on my Shark vaccuum every time or every other time that I use it.
I laughed out so hard when Jawad Sean told me Col.Sam Bashirs wife kicked him out of the house for flirting with an Avari tower prostitute.Tengal.attended the ceremonial rites later..Awan family is screwed as a Javed Chaudhary show.
You look good in glasses, gorgeous definitely 👏👏👏
I just love you to bits, you're so natural, and I do Love your idea of changing outfits for different hacks. May the best fortune follow you going forward 💕
I love the cutting board refresher tip!
Gonna binge your videos to try to get some cleaning motivation (it's worked in the past) so here's hoping!
The easiest way to clean a stove exhaust filter is to rinse it under hot water and then stick it in the dishwasher on the top rack. It comes out perfect that way. Just a helpful tip. :)
Not everyone has a dishwasher
@@SandraMessenger That's why I said it's the easiest way to clean it. Not the only way. I didn't always have a dishwasher either. You can also do what I said above and then after rinsing it soak it in hot water and dish soap then give it a little scrub and it'll be nice and clean. That's how I cleaned mine before owning a dishwasher. It only takes an additional few minutes to clean it this way. Don't let it soak too long though, it will rust. A few minutes, max.
Fantastic help, especially for me as a man who tend to focus on one thing at a time. That makes me work hard and slow 😁. Thanks from Sweden
I love your cleaning hacks. I have shared your videos with so many friends and they have taken advantage of your cleaning tips. Wishing you and your family an awesome holiday.
Honestly shocked by how down to earth and valuable these tips are! Who’d of thought that cleaning could be done so well and economically! Brilliant post & share! BTW : to answer your last ask, yes I see value in your economical tips for cleaning, as long as they work. Brilliant share!

Love cleaning hacks!! Thank you so much!! 😊🦋
As always... Melissa has the BEST tips and tricks, not to mention motivating me to clean.
My #1 cleaning product in my arsenal is 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol! I use it to clean almost everything in the bathrooms including the mirrors, light switches, toilet flush button, taps and the door knobs. 😉
My favorite recipe is the cleaning scrub made out of equal parts of dish liquid/baking soda! My mom's microwave had built up grease and it was so satisfying the way it removed all that gunk so easily!
@@illas14 Do you have it together in a spray bottle? Just asking because once I mixed dish soap and baking soda, and there was some kind of chemical reaction. I was scared to use it since! I think it turned into lye or something😲 So, I guess if you use it on the spot & rinse, it's ok?
@@gohawks3571 no, a spray bottle wouldn't work for the dish soap/baking soda mix. Way too thick.
I do the same, I even use it to clean my eye glasses. I just put it in a spray bottle and go.
@@Kimberly-hk6kp Oh, sorry... I mentally added water😁 Anyway, will try this out👍
I love your style and also your knowledge and use of essential oils. These are easy and healthy ways to improve people's health.
very helpful. thanks for sharing
The shower head tip is amazing! The other day, I was cleaning the house of one of my Turno clients. For those who don't know, Turno is an airbnb cleaning app, which means that lots of different people shower with the same shower head! I applied white vinegar when cleaning, and my client came to ask what I had done, because three guests had already praised the property's shower! Hahaha That tip is gold!
I got a container of Dawn Professional dish soap. It comes with a pump, and it's meant to be heavily diluted. This means that, for an average household, you probably won't use it very fast. I use it as my multi-purpose cleaner. I figure, if it works for dishes, it should work for just about anything. Right? We have glass dishes, stainless steel, plastic...if we know that this stuff is safe for those surfaces, might as well use them nearly everywhere. Plus, small children eat stuff off the floor all the time. Might as well make the floor safe to eat off of. :D (so, yes I use it on my floors as well)!
Dawn professional degreaser works magic on Any surface that ever gets even remotely dirty/greasy. I worked in fast food for a few months and it was the only stuff that could even touch the gunk on the floors.
I believe that Dawn has chemicals in it, the producers of Dawn most probably started their own promotional campaign, I use Dr Bronner’s Sal Suds, a squirt goes a long way,(very sudsy) but absolutely chemical free which is the better choice for yourself and the environment. It might seem pricy but a little truly goes a long way!
I use it in place of detergent on clothes that are basically only dirtied by food..
I will help you too help
Love the cleaning hacks! I've been using Melissa's recipe for the all-purpose cleaner and. it. is. AMAZING! She has definitely saved me money and made me a believer to using everyday ingredients that I already have! Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing, Janna!

💗
Super great!
I do housecleaning and these are very good advices.
Thank you.
Love the stuff that actually works!! I'm not into the "hacks". Usually, it is not the "shortcut" they make it sound like. OR they will use the entire bottle of 5 products for 1 job. I rather just use the things that work, and TIME. Sometimes they need to sit a minute (or 5) before scrubbing/wiping. Less work, cleaner things. Great job, as always. Love your videos!
Thanks for watching Erica!
Your cleaning hacks never fail me! I know you and Chad have checked them out for me. Thsnks😁
