How do you clean tubs coated in paint, or resurfaced? They seem to be very delicate.

Thank you! I watched a Japanese man's video on daily tasks that make big difference. 1. Wipe down/clean toilet daily. I do this almost every night, just before I take a shower. It only takes a minute when you do it really often. 2. push your chair in when you leave table. 2. take your shoes off when you enter house, and line them up (we used to just pile them).
Ha! I think I saw that video too.
can you put a link to his video 📹 👀
I am a very neat person by nature, so everyday I clean my bathrooms and kitchen. I always clean my sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, empty trash cans and change hand towels daily. This makes cleaning much easier and faster since these rooms don’t accumulate dirt. I change my bath towels weekly. I also use my own hand towels and don’t share. If I’m using our guest bathroom , I use a tissue or napkins to wash my hands. I don’t like to use hand towels in other peoples houses either… lol 😆 I will use tissue or toilet paper instead… I’m OCD 😂
I watched the same and can't believe how it changes my day. My routine is am not pm😊
I use a sheet of paper towel folded up at the bottom of the tooth brush holder and once a week when I wash the holder I put a new paper towel in. The paper towel gets most of the grime so it makes cleaning the holder so much easier.
I save my glass jelly jars and use those as toothbrush holders, easy to just change it out and throw the gross one in the dishwasher when it gets to looking gross
I have another tip to prevent scum from a wet toothbrush… I always take a tissue after I brush my teeth and dry my toothbrush with it so it dries and there is no residue of toothpaste . Problem solved. 😊
The thumbnail fit on fleek 💅 🔥
❤️🔥🥶🥶
The biggest game
changer for me, living with 4 boys, is a removable toilet seat. Take it off, put it in the shower/tub and clean it well. Also you can clean the gunk round those nasty bolts that it attaches to really well. It gets really clean. You’re welcome!
I had to come back and tell you I got out a screwdriver and removed my toilet seat after reading your comment. It was DISGUSTING
I have several comments on this.
For many years i worked cleaning motel rooms. When we did bathrooms, we would open toilet and spray inside bowl and underside of seat then top of seat and under lid and hinge then top of lid and the rest of toilet, including outside and floor around toilet. Leave that to soak and move on to shower/tub and clean it. Clean the floor, avoiding toilet area, then toss that rag in used pile. Spray inside and outside of door and top of door, wipe all that down then on to toilet. Clean all of that, leaving floor till last. Toss rag. Spray floor all around toilet with anti bacterial, giving wide sweep. Then clean mirror then sink and counter and then floor around toilet again. Place paper strip around seat and lid and done. Im sure i forgot steps but it has been over 40 years.
Now you were speaking of pink mildew/mold or whatever it is. I'm 59 years old and have been battling pnuemonia for a year and a half. Spent almost all of last year in hospital. That pink crud? That i wasnt very good about scrubbing off everytime i cleaned here at home very well could have been the cause of it. I was told to mix 1/2 cup of common bleach with 3 1/2 cups water and spray the pink with that and leave it sit for about 5 minutes and make sure exhaust fan is running. Then if you still see pink scrub with a cleaning toothbrush. Then rinse VERY WELL.
Last thing. I use any type of dollar tree clear shampoo to remove soap scum in the tub. A little goes a long ways and gotta rinse that well, too, or it is like you're ice skating!!
Thanks so much for your videos!!! I have learned so much from them!!
I was told the pink mold is from hair conditioners. I presoak the bottom of my shower curtain in a bucket of oxy clean first to remove the stains and then I throw it in the washer.
A tip I learned for cleaning out sink drains, wear a pair of latex gloves while you clean out the drain. That way you don't have to touch the nasty stuff that comes out. When you're done you grab all the gross stuff with one hand and pull the glove off, then put the dirty glove in your other hand and pull the other glove off around it. Neat little package of sink goo without any touching.
Was going to ask why Chad didn't wear latex gloves while cleaning the drain.
🤣 sink goo! Great description! I feel like if the sink goo actually touched my skin that my skin would melt! You?
I love how bathrooms seem to be the room most people hate to clean the most but I honestly love cleaning the bathroom more than any other room in a house. Not entirely sure why 🤷♀
I love cleaning the bathroom very much also, in fact, I love cleaning 🧼 as a whole!
It's small and once I get it done I feel great about myself. Perhaps it sparks a fire and I continue 😊 elsewhere
I also love cleaning the bathroom 🧽 🤣
Because you love the feeling of having a clean bathroom.
Letting products marinate for a while makes sense, but I have always been too impatient. So I tried it purposefully today and.....yeah I think my bathrooms are noticeably cleaner. Woohoo! Thank you!
Hi Melissa! I share a bathroom with my 3 young grandchildren so I change our bathroom hand towels daily. Believe me, it's a constant struggle to keep our bathroom clean!
I can't wait for those days in 20 years?🙄
When my 3 grandchildren come for a week, I'm changing the hand towels multiple times a day. Lol and complete cleaning the bathroom every day
My added tip to washing a toilet, getting a roll of the shop towels instead of standard paper towels.. they are a little hardier but still disposable. You can use less amount though (cause they are super strong)
I’m always amazed by how put together you are whilst cleaning. Like WOW!
Melissa I've got a game-changer for you, or at least it was for me: wipe down your toilet with toilet paper instead of paper towels. I spray down the toilet, clean the inside of the toilet bowl with a toilet brush, then I wipe down the outside of the toilet with toilet paper. When each little wad becomes saturated I toss it in the bowl of the toilet as I go and then I flush it all at the end. So I end up only flushing the toilet once and I don't fill up my wastebasket with paper towels.
That's good one! Thanks for sharing :)
I thought I was the only one who did this lmao
I thought everyone did this!
Great idea!
I do this too. 👍
Great vlog Melissa. Dirty sinks and messy shampoo bottles are my pet peeve! It’s usually me that notices it and cleans it!
I loved your video. I pretty much clean bathrooms like you do except for spraying. I don't like using spray bottles due to arthritus in hands and asthma.
When I clean my own bathroom or kitchens and bathrooms at a non-profit where I do a lot of cleaning, I mix cleaners/sanitizers and water in a bucket. Then I put in as many folded microfiber or cloth towels I think I will need. The cleaning/water solution should be just enough to cover and wet the towels.
I use the wet towels folded. When the folded towel surface becomes dirty, I turn the towel to a new clean surface. if the towel is folded twice, it gives you 8 surfaces to use before you need a new towel. When the towel is completely dirty, I put it in a second dry bucket and pull a new towel from the clean solution. I pull a new towel after wiping the toilet or floor. I never return a dirty towel to the clean solution bucket to rinse out.
When preparing and cleaning a meal at the non-profit I use this method. I prepare enough towels in my bucket to sanitize surfaces before I begin cooking, to clean as I go, and to clean up afterwards. I never have to hunt for a clean towel or wonder if it's clean or not. I pour the leftover sanitizing solution down the drain and whirl the gargage disposal. I make up a new bucket of towels before the next meal.
Love your tips and tricks as usual!
On towels - I'm with you on avoiding well used towels in other folks' bathrooms! I wash my own at least weekly - and flip the handtowel for a dry surface after a couple of uses!
Spa tip for guests: roll a bunch of washcloths or guest towels, and place upright in a small tub or bucket, and have an empty tub to drop into, after use!
Each guest can easily have their own towel, and know it's clean! Make a cute sign to go with
They can be a rainbow of colors, or pristine white (with several kids, my daughter uses plush white for their everyday towels, and uses bleach - which gets our makeup etc)
Thanks fot sharing
These helpful tips
I had a friend that would do the same thing. She would buy a stack of white face cloths for the powder room for guests. Everyone got their own cloth to dry their hands. Just an extra nice touch by the hostess!
Thank you for all the great tips! I place folded / rolled up white wash cloths in a basket in our guest bathroom for guests to dry hands with. There is also a basket for guests to toss the used clothes as well. These are inexpensive, easy to bleach, wash and replace. This was something my grandmother did as well & many folks appreciate this small touch. :)
Thank you, Melissa! I feel inspired and motivated to clean my bathroom! 🫧
We recently did a huge remodel and my bathroom everything has been replaced. I LOVE cleaning my bathrooms, incl the toilet. I usually change out the towels every 3rd shower. I have thought about switching out our washcloths after every use but have bought more closths yet. Thanks for all your encouraging cleaning hints. LOL
I love Bac-out (the enzyme cleaner). It is the best product for pet accidents as well. I used to use a pet-specific cleaner that used to give me a headache from the overwhelming fragrance. The Bac-out does not have an artificial fragrance. The old cleaner also left residual stains on my beige carpet but the Bac-out completely removes the stains to the point that I have to "mark" the spot if I don't want to step on the damp spot while it dries.
Love the thumbnail pic as well as th all of your tips! All of our personal use towels are "1 & done," we have decorative towels that get changed weekly and we use papertowels to dry our hands.
We have switched from soap to liquid soap in the shower. Has made a HUGE difference. No more soap scum! Thanks for your videos, I’ve learned so much.
Thanks, this motivated me and now I have 2 clean bathrooms. The perfect bathrrom has a big walk in shower with mosaic tile, and since I live in Florida it should have a beach vibe.
The thumbnail got me! Love it ❤️❤️. Really enjoy your videos. I haven’t watch too many yet but working on it!
Love your toilet cleaning tips… so thorough!!!
I literally watched this video while cleaning my bathroom at 3 AM 😂 Love your videos always Melissa ❤️
Omg it’s what I’m doing (6 months later, haha)-it’s currently 3:48am😂😂
Do you happen to be a fellow ADHDer? Typical behavior lolz
@@Hmy8799 Not ADHD, more so OCD and ASD 😄
Thank you very much for all the recommendations about cleaning bathrooms.
One of the best investments we made in the new house was a rim free toilet :D
Bath towels : every two days
hand towels : daily , used to clean sink at the end of the night
washcloths : after every use
Appreciated your expertise on these unpleasant matters. Extra good drain cleaning procedure
Please do a video on how you clean and store all these cleaning clothes and how often you replace with new ones . Do you clean the clothes, even the dust wiping ones, once done ?
I’ve been wondering this for a while!
I can tell you as a prof cleaner that all cleaning clothes must be washed near 2 hours (90-95 degree) after every cleaning. Prof clothes are very strong and it is not a problem to wash them regularly. Plus there are different types of clothes and they must be washed separately. Also you do not need to add conditioner. You should add a small spoon of washing liquid and that is all.
You taught me how to really clean the toilet! I feel pretty proud of my skill. 😊
In my house of three kids, we clean the trash cans about every week, wash towels constantly, and use electric toothbrushes which just sit on the counter- no hidden grime, haha! Thanks for the awesome, safe product tips. And I’m taking my enzyme cleaner in the bathroom, and God bless you!
What is the cleaner you recommend for the shower tiles? For the soap buildup? Thank you Melissa! Love your videos and all the amazing information 👍🏼
First time watcher here. I saw you on the clutterbug podcast. You have some really good tips, especially leaving the cleaning solution for 5 minutes. I always spray on then wipe off. I am going to try leaving it longer.
We were getting gross mould in our bathroom drain and I couldn't get rid of it even with environmentally friendly drain cleaners. And then one day I decided to try toilet cleaner (an environmentally friendly and cheap one), and let that soak down there, and it worked so well! Now I'm using a little bit on a regular basis and it's keeping the drain nice and clean!
Id like a sunken bathtub with beautiful bottles at one end of it for bath salts, bubble bath and bathoils in them!! Think Cleopatra's spa!! Separate shower with three shower heads at different heights with no need for a shower door or shower curtain with smooth walls with no grout to clean.
I just LOVE your sense of humor
I’ve geen so inspired and motivated by ALL your cleaning videos through the years. Just so excellent! I have one recommendation- pin hair up when cleaning. I kept thinking as you were wiping around the toilet- your beautiful hair might be swishing along the surfaces as well. . . Just a thought. 😊
It’s just for the video demo. That toilet was already clean. I’m sure she puts her hair up in a bun when she cleans for real.
I agree 👍; it keeps your hair clean.
I'm a new house cleaner, and I find your tips and tricks are truly amazing. Thank you kindly
I use my bath towel three times. I have your maker towels and love them!
Thanks for watching!
I love these videos, this one motivated me to clean my bathroom today, I also washed the shower curtain.
Thank you for all your cleaning tips. I will pass them along.
Same. My bathroom is now sparkling.
I have use your formulas to clean and their are WONDERFUL. THANK YOU
Right? Her homemade furniture polish is amazing!
Thank you so much! 😊
What are you using for the bathroom cleaning?
Great thumbnail!!! Love it!! So fun and you look beautiful!
Thank you!
I just discovered your channel. Great information, thank you!!!
My dream bathroom is a smaller modest bathroom with enough money in the bank to engage a maid to do all this cleaning for me! Thank you for the video!
i'M A CLEANING FANATIC. Really appreciate your soft scrub recipe, cotton balls with essential oils and bathroom scum removal. What has worked for me is to use a Magic Eraser to remove any and all soap scum on both glass shower doors and tubs/showers. Looking forward to viewing more of your "cleaning" recommendations videos
Hard water and soap scum build up fast in my shower. I’ve been using the vinegar, water, and dish soap mixture for years, usually followed by the touch test. It is more eco-friendly than traditional bathroom cleaners and works better too 👍
Vinegar baking soda lemon great toilet cleaner
Lemons
I work cleaning STRs on Turno, and I also use white vinegar to clean the shower, bc my clients love it! And I started to clean my shower with it at my home as well!
Great stuff! I keep a basket of organic cotton muslin baby wipes from Green Mountain Diapers in the bathroom for single use washable hand drying. A little basket underneath to throw them and wash weekly with bath towels. You always get a clean hand dry this way! ( I don’t usually bother to fold them 😃but if I do they look so pretty!)
Nice hair colour 😍look gorgeous ❤
Is there any alternative or DIY for enzyme cleaner??😊
I don't usually use a wash cloth, but like you, if I do... once an done. Hand towels, every other day, even if we have no one else in the house. Bath towels, every other shower, unless I felt really dirty, then it can be every shower. Thanks for the tips... Glenda
love this video, i just know i’ll be coming back again. shame i already cleaned the bathroom today 😅
Very informative video. 👏
Great tips. I think I’ll tackle the dreaded tub today, now! I am with you on the wash clothes. One and done, hand towels daily and bath towels, twice a week. I use paper towels, also. Seems gross to use something that can’t be disposed. 😮. My difficulty is getting behind and around the lower half of the toilet. Ugh. Dust, hair plus cleaner equals a disaster. I don’t have a dream shower, lol. Maybe one with a larger vanity than I have now. We live in a remodeled manufactured home so our bathrooms are pretty narrow. A little more width would be nice 😂.
Very informative video. Thank you
Thank you for this
Video is so clean like your place.. that I cannot skip even seconds❤
I would like someday in heaven to have a long luxurious bath tub along with my favorite bath salts which I never have to clean next to a porcelain toilet I never need to clean either!😁🛁
So beautiful!!! I have a pot of chocolate daisies I bought from bakers creek..(high recommend) but they are one of my absolute favorites and they bloom in the morning and night and literally smell like tootsie rolls!!!!
Thank you so much for this video, it helped me so much and made it easier for me to clean my bathroom. One thing you didnt mention was , how often should you clean your bathroom.
Ive just cleaned my bathroom with your makers mop!!! ❤ easy peasy bear in mind, my whole bathroom is tiled!!! 👌👌👌❤
Im living for the thumbnail!
Hi Melissa, I change out my bath towels every 4 days, my hand towels approx every 2 days and my face towels also…I don’t wear makeup and I do not exfoliate at all since I have rosacea so face washing is very light
Also looking for the natural stone cleaners. My bathroom is marble I am always worried about using the wrong product. Thank you for the steam cleaner suggestion.
Hi ! I’m legally blind/visually impaired and i really loved this video! You explained it really well in a way that is also helpful for me. Thank you so much! May God bless you in Jesus’ name❣️
I'll definitely use the toilet bowl brush one. Usually, I just buy a new one when it gets old and dirty at home (and so my clients in their houses). This tip will save me (and my clients) some money! Haha
After moving to a new home and having RA, I started using a product that I spray in the shower after each use. There are several products like this. The one I use is called Clean Shower. A quick spray after you shower, let's the leftover soap residue slide off by itself. No scrubbing. Saves my hands, elbows, and shoulders, as well as time. We have the fiber glass type tubs with no seams, and it makes my life so much easier. Occasionally, you still have to clean the ledges, but it is so much easier, and after 10 years, my showers still look like new.
We have the same fiberglass type shower with bad hard water stains at the base in the corner. I sprayed Lemi Shine disinfecting bathroom cleaner and left it on for a day. Came back and it was 100% clean. No scrubbing needed. My husband was so mad because he scrubbed it with comet the last time and it was grueling lol.
great Tips!
I’ve NEVER used a toilet brush. I have a dedicated scotch brite sponge. I pop on rubber gloves and go to town. I sit the sponge in some water with tea tree oil to clean it. The vinegar and dish soap mixture is amazing!!!!!
Same. Gloves and sponge
Great video! Yes, the red plastic drain cleaner is amazing! ( but, yes, stomach clenching to do)… do you think there’s anything to once weekly vinegar, baking soda, then hot soapy water to maintain the drain? Thanks.
Beautiful
Great video
Thanks! I just discovered Silicone toilet brushes, nothing sticks & chemicals won't harm/break them down. I got the ones that hang on the wall which makes it easier to clean the floor. :)
Hi Melissa, where do you keep a washcloth that you use for wiping a sink (for cleaning daily messes like soap splash) and how often do you change it?
I clean my general bath towels and hand towels once a week. Yes it's probably the wrong thing to do but there's a cost of living crisis going on and even running water to wash clothes is expensive. It's only me in the house so it works for me. Also my ideal bathroom would have a nice big bath, a rainforest shower and a Japanese toilet.
I shower every 2to 3 days, hang my white terry towel on the bar across from the window. I only launder it every other week, sometimes less. Plus when I do wash them, the towels and all my laundry hangs on the line!
Cute thumbnail 😊
What enzyme cleaner do you use?
You have saved me so much cleaning time !! Thank you!
Love your thumbnail toilet cleaning outfit 😂
Washcloths one use and it's done. Hand towels every other day. Bath towels two uses and it's washed. Course it's just me in the house now so it's really easy to keep track of this. If I had multiple family members it be once a day. (Because they were notorious for getting into some really interesting things.)
Amazing
That thumbnail… 😮💨🔥🔥🔥
But also great tips as always! 😅
Thank you for all of these great tips! I have followed you for many years now (before Riley!) and have learned so much from you! I have also recommended your channel to my housecleaner 😉!
My dream bathroom would a self cleaning one🤣😂! Seriously, though, I would want a huge walk-in shower without anything to step over. It would have two sink areas and two commodes, yes, a his and a hers! I would also have a bidet.
I like the way you think. 😎
Was looking for the link on how to clean natural stone. I have granite walls in my shower and bathtub. Thank you.
Than you for your videos, Melissa. Do you have a tip for making toilet bolt covers stay on when cleaning?
Squeeze clear silicone caulk into the cover and place it over the bolt & let it cure for 24 hours. That should help. If not, plumbers have a putty they use.
omg I'm so glad I do not have a floor toilet anymore. The memories of the years of trying to get the base of the toilet clean - just....don't have it attach to the floor America! Can someone tell me why American toilets are mostly floor toilets? Why does plumbing work horizontally in Europe and only vertically in America?
Speaking of cleaning the bathroom...how is the beat way to clean kitty's bathroom, a.k.a. as the litter box? Thanks for all you great tips.😁
Thanks, great video. Vinegar and baking soda, let it sit for a bit, then a cup of HOT, like boiling, heated in the microwave, water. You might want to Google that to be sure of my instructions. 🤪 My son is a plumber and told me never to use drain cleaner. It eats the pipes eventually or something. Anyway, have a great day and thanks so much for sharing
So, we should use vinegar and baking soda in the drains instead of drain cleaner? Thanks for this tip!
Yes the foaming reaction helps loosen up clogs. Equal parts vinegar and baking soda. When foaming is done then pour a sauce pan of boiling water down the drain.
For bathroom towels - I only use a washcloth once, hand towels get changed once a week / if someone comes over (before & after), bath towels usually get used once and then washed.
Really liked the process of cleaning the toilet, brush and tub.
Concerned about cleaning my new black fixtures - we have hard water (well water) and getting the stuff off is almost impossible.
Mostly responding in case you get good advice on the black fixtures... I have the same problem.
I finally got new towels. Not really good fancy ones (someday), but I'm finally toweled up to swap every week so I'm not waiting for laundry. Same for my sheets... It's like I'm growing up finally😁
@@gohawks3571 Try buffing car wax on your fixtures. Helps minimize spotting.
@@ritasicari7518 Cool! Thanks👍
I use citric acid for hard water stains. It needs dwell time so cover with cling wrap.
Hi there! I use rinse aid in a spray for hard water. I also have a black sink! Spray leave it for 5 min, and just wipe, don’t rinse!
Great video! But what about shower doors? i just moved into a house with shower doors, and they've needed cleaning from day one.
YES! I watched the whole thing waiting to see the best way to clean the glass (mine has water spots that will not scrub off), and she never went there. Bummer.
Vinegar water few drops detergent. works wonders straight vinegar removed mold on aluminum sliders
You're totally right about the paper towel toilet cleaner cuz despite the waste, it's so much easier. I know it's an environment sin, but for the top half of the toilet, I use a couple paper towels.
If you want to reduce waste in that area, I have some ideas. I read in a zero-waste cookbook once, an idea to save up unused serviettes from cafes/take-away and use them in place of paper towel. Also, some people use old newspaper for cleaning. Or if you have worn out tea towels, t-shirts, leggings, underwear, or whatever, you can cut them up and use them for disposable rags. I'm sure there are more ideas out there. You get to reduce waste, declutter, and stop spending money on things that are meant to be thrown out straight away.
What are your thoughts on hanging bath towels on hooks? I don’t think they dry completely.
Washcloth - change every time used.
Masterbath - hand and bath towel weekly.
1/2 bath - change towel after visitors leave. I keep 4 hand towels in there. If a visitor wants it changed out, they are welcome to do so. I purchased a package of 24 soft washcloths to be used as individual towels. Just need a stand for them. I have a trashcan in there, with a washable liner for dirty wipes/washcloths and hand towels.
I've recently started relying heavily on hydrogen peroxide especially for porous surfaces. I dip the bottom edge of my cloth shower liner in it, pretty much anything stained...i only use the essential oils in the softener compartment to avoid residue build up and the smell lasts longer and I think that helps repell moths and overall refreshes the closet.
I change out my wash cloth, hand towel and bath towel daily. When I shower and feel clean I want clean towels as well. Overkill maybe, but it's how I feel comfortable.
Same!
I have a Toto Washout toilet bowl. Can you provide any tips for that. The manufacture instructions don't seem to clean well enough. Also, How do you handle cleaning the rectangular long shower drain....I have one too! Lots of hair etc to get out and clean. My plumber had to lift it up and it was crazy what was there. Thank you so much! Love your products and channel!
I wash hand towels quite often (kids walk out of the bathroom all the time with them!) wash cloths are one time used along with body towels
Love your tips! Will need to stick to baking powder as you can not get hold of borax in Germany. The distribution to private households is forbidden.
What are your Makers cloths made of? I know they are microfiber but I can’t find what % of what… I just ordered some, can’t wait to use them! 😎
