I love how candid she is about how she felt in wearing her natural hair. This is the struggle finding confidence in our hair. You go girl!!!! I mean you GROW GIRL! Hair, Mind, Spirit ✊🏾
Huge struggle with confidence...but I'm determined to get there...and I wear my hair in short twist bout anywhere from 6 to 8 inches long. Sometimes I feel like I'm about to go up under the table in shame...I do the walk of shame. At other times I hold my head up sooo proudly. I can say though w/o doubt I'm growing. Cause I've seen the time I'd be in tears.
@@pearlljewels7330 i relate to you so much, people would get on me for wearing the same style(twists) all the time and that on top of my own insecurities really messed with my mental..but i stuck it out and my hair grew. 10 freaking months????? Oh my gosh... I wanna cry rn. I've been trying for 10 years...no joke
Ppl don’t realize that their hair will grow if they basically leave it alone. Stay away from hot comes and chemicals and the hair grows a centimeter every month. So that would be 10 centimeters in 10 months without cutting it!!!

@@chanela.7786 True, but we need to be honest..
I’ve been natural for five years and this is the first year where I’ve seen my hair decide to flourish. It’s because I let go of the secret shame I had about wearing my natural hair, genuinely believing that my prettiest self was wearing a wig. My mini twists and I have gone through a raggedy spiritual journey that all my classmates (currently in uni) gave me a sideways glance. Asking me if I let myself go, but the reality was that the change in me was so fundamental. I can’t wait to see what my hair will look like in ten months, wearing my hair as confidently as possible. Also will be my first time wearing it for my birthday on Tuesday ☺️
Happy belated birthday!! Love you for you lady ALWAYS remember that!! Greatness is sweetest when self observed. ~ said by me🙂
Update please
_Kimmy Beauty Co My hair has never been this healthy in my life. The same people who were being rude in class are now asking me for tips 😂 It has a lot more length, shine and elasticity. It’s the first time in years I feel like my hair and I are understanding each other.
@@SuperElise21 How long do you leave your mini-braids in before you re-do them? Do you wash and condition the braids while they are in? If not how do you maintain them?
@@scorieshair Hey! I leave them in for two weeks at a time. I used to do only one week when I first started because they would get so frizzy (they were short and I was new in technique). Now, I (try) to moisturize them daily with water and a small dollop of Africa's Best Shea Butter curls (v affordable!). The intention is to give them a quick rinse every week with a little bit of clay, conditioner and a deep conditioner. Back in with the curl cream and then tie it down with a durag. They look shinier and brand new depending. Take them out the following week for another full wash day and repeat. It goes by quickly and my only maintainence in the week is leave in and a durag. My hair has grown a decent bit too since the original post. The routine is sustainable and easy to me.
I wear mini braids without extension WITH BEADS!!
FYI: I'm 34 years old. I reached midback in 4 years
I just took braids out 2 wks ago and I decided to stop braiding with extensions
do you think braids without extensions is better than with? i’m debating if i should get mini braids rn
Hi I just wanted to know where you started from. Did you have hair and where did you started from. Where you bald?
@@lifewithzinnah sorry for the late reply. I noticed when i started braiding without extensions, my hair could was able to grow in its most relaxed state even while braided. The stress to conform your texture and the stress on the scalp was a lot less. The absorption of products increased because it is only applied your strands. The added joy of learning the actual movements of your crown is beautiful
@@spongina1767 so late on replying. I started from neck length. I would put my short mini braids in gray or white permrods and let the curls naturally drop for the first six months until i reached full shoulder length. As my hair relaxed from the trauma of extensions, heat and unhealthy products, the growth rate increased and i added ponybeads to protect my ends.
This is a great channel for young black girls to watch because your confidence and encouragement to love your natural hair is such a great influence! And your honesty about feeling self conscious and not always sure about wanting to wear your styles out is extremely relatable and can help so many girls going through the same thing to remember that it's still beautiful to be natural and it always will be

I agree.
Yes, I agree. My daughter was getting teased in middle school about her locs and i told her that her hair is more beautiful than any of them because it's her own hair. As opposed to these poor girls that don't have the time to take care of their own hair and put weaves in it at the drop of a hat. Her hair was down her back and gorgeous and we have to teach our children to love the hair that comes out of their scalp!!!!
Im gonna show my niece your channel she could use a pretty girl that looks like her to help with her confidence!!! Keep doing you girlie 💛💛

At first I thought, what a pretty girl. Then, with the photos at the end, I was like wow... she's a pretty girl, a lovely lady, and a fine-ass woman who'll be a knockout even when she's 85... all at the same time. (I'm a super-grown a$$ woman who's old enough to be her mom, so I can say that with simple ease!) Stay sweet.
Point is low manipulation grows your hair. Don't need braids or sew-ins for that ☺
@@e.b.0001 Don't know who are the black men you know cause mine would be freaked out if one day I turn up with a weave. My mom has been natural for all her life and my 3 brothers repeatedly criticize my sisters and I for "spoiling our beautiful hair" when one of us girls cut our hair off (even my 4 year old nephew hated my low cut hairstyles) or relax our hair in the past. I said that to say these boys who grow into men are born of black women who will do everything to avoid wearing their natural hair, so what do you expect? Of course they will grow up wanting the same wig/weave/braid wearing females they are familiar with. Ever thought about it like that?
@@e.b.0001 Lol..... Um, it sounds like your perception is based off the lies they try to sell you on t.v. and the media. I'm a black man. Most of us *real* black men love black women and when we see them with their natural hair, we don't want any other race of woman because no one can duplicate the black woman's natural beauty, not even through surgery. The reason why you don't see men like me in the media all the time is because we are too busy protecting our women. The media lies in its statistics. Most of us marry and stay with black women. And yes, I like them as dark as me. I'm flattered that other races of women want us black men but for those of us who are real and educated, we are sticking to black women. The interracial agenda won't work on us!
@@e.b.0001 this has literally nothing to do with this video but okay go off i guess
MikeyMike Big MikeyMikeBig It’s nice that you like black women but let’s be honest black women especially dark skin women like myself have the lowest rate to be married, and black men hardly married those type of women 🤔. Also, I noticed most “real” black men have more love for long kinky hair (4C/b) not short unless it has loose curls. Let’s be honest now.
@@e.b.0001 Gabrielle Union, Kelly Rowland, Solange Knowles, Lupita Nyong'o, Brandy, Uzoamaka Nwanneka "Uzo" Aduba, Danai, etc...Some of these beautiful black women have either sported their natural hair/are dark skinned/romantically linked to a black man. How about just appreciating that the brothers are choosing black women to partner with, instead of this light skin/dark skin mess? So much divide in our race, it's amazing we can go forward. 👎🏿To say black men don't chose black women sounds so silly. I am a dark skinned natural hair millennial (from the Beyonce and Rhinanna era) with a black millennial fiancé. Instead of generalizing with your skewed perception, how about educating the males in your circle to appreciate a black woman irrespective of the shade of melanin and hair type? Behaviours are learned. To go back to my original point, if us Black women/men teach our boys/girls to appreciate and be proud of our natural beauty, won't they grow into adults with the same education/perception? Think this would not change? 🤔
Love your hair!!
And you’re so soft spoken, your demeanor seems so adorable and gentle..
I started wearing my hair in mini twists about 80-90% of the time when I lived in a small little town. I was insecure about it but I didn't know anyone there and definitely didn't care what they thought about me or my hair. Then I moved back to my hometown. When I moved back I was nervous to wear my twists out but I did it anyways because it really helped my hair. And now I still do to this day. Sometimes I get negative remarks but I still don't care. It's the best protective style and helped me achieve the most length

You are toooo precious! It's so awesome that your homeschooled. I homeschooled my two children all the way through high school. Your hair is very beautiful and I think you are such an inspiration to the younger natural generation. Be Blessed!
One day I was taking out my sew in and I forgot that I used braiding hair to braid my real hair down. So when I took out the tracks I saw that my braids wer kinda long, I almost lost my mind because I thought I had "inches" I was hype. I even called my best friend. but when I took out the cornrows I noticed the braiding hair was coming out. I was butt hurt. So yea.
Damn
@@thetongueofangels1882 yea I’m still hurt
HAHAH THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SO MANY TIMES-
Lmao😭

You’re just an all around lovable young girl ughh! Makes my heart melt, thank you for your video and all the best for your future! #Queen
Aww you are so cute. My daughter is homeschooled as well. You are so articulate and I love your confidence.
Girl your sooooo pretty and confident and that’s amazing. Don’t let anyone get to you, be yourself, be confident and keep growing your hair girl. You will flourish. Your a very beautiful and polite girl. Good job and keep up the good work you’ll go far in life🙏🏽❤️
My opinion doesn’t matter, but you were rocking those mini braids, imma do that protection style TONIGHT lol♥️
I feel you about people looking at you weird. I have anxiety and it’s honestly the worst!!! Love your hair tho :)
Pusheen sameeeee! Half the time i didnt even care of people stared because they think i look cute i just dont like people looking at me at all😭😭😖😖
Caring so much what people think causes anxiety. Paulo Coelho said "It is not our business what people think about us". I know it's hard but focus more on what you think about yourself. People only give you the credit they give themselves.
@@pusheen2379 💛😇 They don't matter.
😘
I can't believe you are in high school. You look like you can pass for a ten year old. Our genes are amazing...Black sure don't crack 🤣

God Bless You Sweetie, you are an inspiration. You have encouraged me to wear my hair the way that is best for me and not to be concerned about what people will think or say. Actually, braids and twists are cute and appropriate, so I will be doing the same thing with my hair to ensure healthy growth. Thank you. 😊
You’re so gorgeous Queen. Beautiful hair, skin and features. 💕
Your are a confident, beautiful young lady. Keep being you.
