      @@sidneygreen1048 Prime hasn’t done anything of significance that would even make him a sensible option. Improving a 1-11 team to 4-8 is progress but I’m not going to spin going from a terrible team to a bad team as being a noteworthy accomplishment, especially with how much transfer portal recruiting he did and how much NIL support he had behind him, with two of his starters reportedly being in the top ten NIL earners in CFB, if not higher. He underperformed massively. I’m not saying he should’ve made it to the CFP, but you can’t honestly be optimistic about a 4-8 coach with that much at his disposal. Riley may be on a downward trajectory, but he took a program that went 4-8 the previous year to an 11-1 regular season (but eventually 11-3) his first year. Rebuilds are tough and rarely instant, but by the end of the season, Colorado hardly resembled one.

    @Bonecrusher19 2 месяца назад +1

    So we’re not going to credit Lincoln Riley for taking a 4-8 USC team in 2021 to an 11-3 record and almost making the college football playoff, had it not been for Caleb’s hamstring popping in the PAC-12 Championship ??? Deion overhauled his roster and only went 4-8. USC, since Pete Carroll left for the Seahawks, has only had five 10+ winning seasons (2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, & 2022).
    USC’s struggles haven’t been with coaching, they’ve been with admin and the continuous switching of ADs, Presidents, etc. Yes, Riley’s defenses have been historically bad, but remember they almost got to the national championship in 2016-17 losing in the Rose Bowl to Georgia, who was beating Alabama at half prior to the switch to Tua from Hurts. What also has caused problems for USC are policies made from the NCAA (NIL) and politics of California. To address the NIL, you think brand name carries weight in today’s world, it doesn’t. There’s no bigger brand in college than USC. What you can get at USC, no other school can provide, not NIL speaking. The NIL has hurt USC and specifically Lincoln Riley is he was told what they would do for him and how they would assist him and the program in that matter. USC hasn’t fulfilled their side of it hence USC lost 2 key DL players from Georgia, which their reason for coming was that. USC hired Eric Henderson from the Rams who coached Aaron Donald for many years. What interior DL wouldn’t want to be coached by that guy? Oh and Aaron Donald has visited USC practices plenty of times. It comes down to the NIL money that Lincoln was originally told he’d be able to use and the NIL portion of the program isn’t living up to their end of the bargain. Had the Raiders, not hired Antonio Pierce, they would’ve hired Lincoln Riley. The highly recruited SoCal kids leave because NILs are more lucrative in Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ohio, Florida, etc. The taxes in California are higher than anywhere else so why would a kid want to pay more in taxes when he can do what NFL players do and sign big deals in states with low to zero state taxes. Plus the transfer portal is out of control so there’s no incentive to recruit as much high school players when you can snag out the portal.
    To address Coach Prime, would be successful? I’m not sure. We can say he can recruit, but has he really recruited well? Outside of Travis Hunter, his teams at Jackson State and Colorado are mostly transfers. That’s the reality Deion is in so it is what it is. But like I said above, maybe Deion (because of name) can keep some of the big time SoCal kids but it’s not enough to make a difference. Pete Carroll had a fence around SoCal and very, very few people came in to snag players, let alone blue chip prospects. On top of that, I’m not concerned about it because he isn’t the USC head coach but his foot is a cause of concern to a degree. You have to ask yourself how long he can coach for, and if he does end up having his foot amputated (God forbid that) can he coach at the level that’s expected? If USC is having NIL and admin issues with Lincoln, what makes you think they’re gonna change for Deion? They bought the farm for Lincoln and they’re already having turmoil with their admin.

Whatever he said, is Mr. Finebaum now admitting that Coach Prime is a coach worthy of coaching USC and no longer “a celebrity masquerading as a coach?” Or was the suggestion that he move from Colorado to USC made sarcastically? There needs to be a backlash against this kind of reporting on college football it's already bad enough we don't need these people trying to make it worse. If college football fans ever came together we could really change it Paul Finebaum has made his whole career trying to get people to argue against each other the stupid stuff he always says about Lane kiffin and trying to roast head coaches on national TV when recruits are looking at that it's all fun and games until it's your school they're talking about if we could stick together and kinda push back maybe they have to go through a little bit of backlash and straighten up a little bit

    It's bizarre how the national sports media continually refuses to address the significant defensive coaching changes the Trojans made after last season. This new group has sparkling resumes with tons of success in both the NFL and college. For these ESPN dummies to address that means they have to acknowledge Riley IS doing something about the defense, and that they'll have to alter their narrow-minded criticisms. Of course, Riley is to blame for allowing prior DC Alex Grinch another year of damage. He should have known better. But the Trojans have a lot of talent on defense with plenty of experience and depth at most positions. It's going to be a good year. Once those 5-star high school recruits actually see the change on the field this year, USC will start to retain some of them who right now feel too uncertain to commit. My brief assessment is by far more balanced and nuanced than what these posers offer, and I don't get paid millions of dollars for providing it. Deion Sanders? Always looking for the entertainment angle, right ESPN? When Riley leaves L.A., recent linebacker coach hire Matt Entz will probably be offered the job, unless another school is fortunate enough to lure him away. And if you never heard of him before fellas, do some research.

The funny thing is when Steve Sarkisian could not win against Lincoln Riley, if his life depended on it and UT had a lot better athletes than OU, he did not say a word about Sarkisian ... this guy Finebaum turned against Coach Riley the day he chose USC over OU ... too bad since you do not pay his salary, Paul!
