- New year, new Dracula! Joey C helps me ring in 2024 by revisiting this blast from the past. Wes Craven Presents Dracula 2000! Featuring a young Gerard Butler living it up in the modern day New Orleans. Along the way he gets himself Jeri Ryan, Jennifer Esposito, and Vitamin C as brides! Will Van Helsing and his crew stop him before he unleashes his evil at the Virgin Record store? Watch and find out!

Dracula 2000 came out ten days before the end of the year in its title! Most movies that end in 2000 were trying to be like “We’re in the FUTURE!”, while this one was more “We were really, really…REALLY really late to the game.”
I noticed it's called Dracula 2001 in other countries

I've been to New Orleans several times with work and I'm always amazed at what a run down sh*t hole the place is. The first year I went was 2007, so i put that down to stil recovering from Hurricane Katrina, but going back and forth for over a decade, I realised the place was just a hole.
Dracula 2000 has gathered a cult following over time and if I recall this was when Vampires was coming back to the silver screen after The first Blade film.
Joey C and Joe from movies dumpsters VHS box readings shall go down as the best in history.

I enjoyed the movie in spite of it's overly hip and happening vibe. Christopher Plummer was great as Van Helsing. Gerard Butler was fine and fun as Dracula.

I was about 10 years old when this came out. This and Valentine (2000) most certainly got rented dozens of times. Took years for me to realize they weren't masterpieces...

The best thing that happened about the writer strike was a few of my favorite movie RUclipsrs were too busy D riding in solidarity with the writers and actors they stop posting good content I'm looking at you dead meat.... Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled upon this page , around late June, July ish maybe. Anyway, you guys are my new favorite page. I follow you guys on Instagram. in my country this movie was release in 2001, so all the promotional posters say "dracula 2001", but in the intro of the movie say 2000.

Love the pod. Personally, Dracula has always been my least favorite Universal Monster. I was always much more of a Frankenstein/Wolfman/Ernest Goes to Africa kinda guy. Knowwhatimean?
Why Dracula would goto New Orleans is because New Orleans has that supernatural gothic lore there have been a few movies with vampires in New Orleans a manly thing a tough man wont flinch seeing an eye injury

His death would only work in the presence of jesus while being hanged just before sunrise, hence this is repeated at the end, Jesus's statue figure is looking at him in direct line as he dies as the sun rises
Movie: Mary has a psychic link with Dracula because she has his blood in her.
Also movie: But Van Hellsing doesn't have a psychic link with Dracula even injecting his blood for decades because it's different stuff.

That movie felt very 2000s when I watched it recently. Bad? No.
The original Dracula died to Quincy's huge f**k-off knife. This one died to the sun, hanging, and maybe repenting? It's a wonder Blade didn't rely on a Rube Goldberg machine to deal with his version of Dracula.... Although that version had some silly too.

YES! I lived in NOLA for 2 years and still visit. I know NJ gets the bad rep on drivers but Louisiana is the worst I have ever seen!

I ordered this movie on payperview during highschool years and I absolutely hated it lol. i was hyped for it because it was a was craven dracula movie but this was an extreme let down for me and I totally forgot that Gerald Butler was Dracula!!!

The criticism about global warming is kinda dumb IMO. Its a plot point, he needs global warming to become more powerful, its not a question of preaching.
