I have the HP EliteDesk G1 with an i5 4570 and a GT 1030, I know you said I should go for the GTX 1650 but I just couldn't find one at a good price, and I didn't really like the price range at all, so I went with a GT 1030 I found on Amazon for $100 CAD, the pc is still very good, ranging around at least 75 fps on Fortnite, 144 fps on Valorant, 600 - 850 fps on Minecraft, and 160 fps on cs:go with a 75hz monitor, I don't really think you can play warzone on it, which was the only lowlight of the build, but the pc is already pretty good for my needs, its just all I can afford at this time as a teen, I'll take what I can.

@@flwrs1746 I have that HP EliteDesk G1 with an i5 4570 and a GT 1030, I play Valorant every day on it, I play Fortnite a lot too and trust me, the frames are worth it, I get 75 fps on Fortnite 100% resolution and everything else epic shadows off and it runs smoothly for the price, I have a 75 Hz monitor so it suits me but in-game when u glide down the map you get low as 40 but when I play that I lower my resolution to 65% and I get 120 fps lowest 100, Valorant I have default settings and it runs more than 144 fps smoothly no problem, I got all of this for 400 cads but I'm pretty sure u can get it for way less.

Thanks for this summary. I am actually building a PC for AI experimentation rather than gaming but the need to add a graphics card (GTX 1650) is the same. For AI, I also need to know whether it has an M.2 or spare PCIe slot for a Coral TPU card.
Videos like this help because it is surprisingly difficult to figure out from manufacturers specs the basic questions like: will a GTX 1650 fit? Will the maximum bandwith PCIe be available? Is the power supply big enough? Can the card be powered directly from the PCIe slot (as opposed to an extra adapter)? Is cooling sufficient without drilling holes etc?
Dell Optiplex are the cheapest in the UK at the moment but apparently have a rather awkward layout for the graphics card so the max bandwith cannot be used. HP are cheaper than Lenovo right now. There are also HP 600 and 6000 series about, but I do not know what the differences are. It would be good to see the graphic card insertion into each of a range of models. Such a video would be popular with AI experimenters as well as gamers!

I imported an pretty beat up NEC Mate PC from Japan on Buyee for a bargain, including shipping for around ~400 reais, the equivallent to only ~74 dollars (remember this is worldwide shipping) an i3 4130 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz, 240w 80+ power supply on a generic H81 Lenovo motherboard with an empty PCIe slot that I'm thinking on getting a GT 1030, since the 1050/Ti, and the 1650 are too expensive in my currency here in Brazil, and maybe in the future upgrade to 2x4GB of Ram (comes with 2x2GB unfortunately) I need it to study and work, gaming is just a bonus...

Totally confused. Am looking at your superb vid of this upgrade. BUT, don't GT 1650 GPU cards have to have extra power connectors ? 6 pin / 8 pin ? , i did'nt see you connect this. I know nothing about GPU's so maybe i am comletely wrong here, but on all other vid re GT 1650 cards you always see the extra power connector that is usually stated as very important as the PCIe bus can't supply all the power for these cards. Again, GREAT vid, but TOTALLY confused. Keep up the good work.

Well I ended up with the Dell Optiplex 7040 Minitower version, not the SFF version. Just a bit bigger I think but it saves me from having to hunt for those rare low profile GPU in my country. Managed to snag a used RX570, add RAM into 16GB and add 480GB cheap ssd as boot drive and it runs with the i5 6500 really nicely. Total power consumption in heavy load is around 85-90% of the 240W PS capacity, yet so far so good no sign of instability or overheat whatsoever.

Just got 3 Dell Optiplex 990 pc's from work. They were going to throw them away. Only i5's but much better than the XP pc I've been using. I upgraded one to its max 16gb ram, upgraded its OS from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and added a 2TB Sansung hard disk . Dell tech support told me these won't work with Windows 10, but they do work just fine. I wanted to add a GTX 1650 low profile card but they are no longer available new from MSI or Gigabyte but still listed on their web sites for about $200. And they are available used on eBay for about $400 on up and Walmart still has 4 new MSI 1650's in stock for a bit over $800.00 each! I don't know if this is a temporary shortage because of Covid or if these companies are getting out of the low profile video card business. The video tech support person I spoke with was also not sure. And I don't know enough about video cards to know if there are any other recommended brands or companies still selling them. Please help with any advice or recommendations you have. Thank you.

doubt it... a 1650 needs a 350w. As for upgrading the PSU you wont have enogh space in the box and if you run an external PSU you'll have to know how to repin the cables to fit the ones on the motherboard. Adding RAM is no problem though. You can go up to 16GB with the two slots available.

    • @Pasi123
      @Pasi123 3 года назад

You can't put a X5650 in a Pro 3130 nor Pro 3120. 3120 is older generation and while Pro 3130 is the same generation as X5650 it's a different platform.
Pro 3130 uses the normal mainstream LGA1156 socket while X5650 is for the more expensive HEDT/Enthusiast platform which used the LGA1366 socket. Some X34** series Xeon might work in the Pro 3130 but I'm not sure if the bios is compatible.

7:20 quite false in this case, while the HP ones are usually propietary (That's why I would rather avoid HP if you have more choices), the Lenovo ones use a "TFX PSU" which companies like Seasonic and BeQuiet! made some, they are even rated at 80+ Gold, which is nice, I don't know about Dell or some other companies, but in this case, PSU is totally replacable with non propietary stuff!

That said you can find custom made TFX's even 450W on aliexpress that fit and work right out of the box. Expect to pay $100 at least.

1650 low profile models run very hot.. I have Gigabyte D6 1650 low profile card installed in 8300 SFF & it reaches 90 degree very quickly.. Nothing wrong with its thermal paste as it cools down very quickly once you stop gaming. So the problem lies with card itself, more precisely with Nvidia boosting tech or by Gigabyte algorithm.. It boosts automatically upto 1950 very easily & stays there till its starts throttling. Plus it consumes full 75 watts of power from the pcie socket.. I tried even undervolting it, but that also can delay the temperature rise only till a point. Adjustment in fan curve etc is also not much helpful.. Anyone has any better solution??

I just bought a Dell OptiPlex with i7-4770 for (£155) SFF and a GTX 650 new for £190, so $345 all in (will need to add an HDD) as it only comes with 500 SSD... not too expensive
But the main reason I am doing this is, so I don't need my AMD gaming rig running for anything other than when high performance is really needed... it's costing me a fortune in juice, and this Dell convention will use about 25% of the electric saving me about £300 per year...
    So it is a no-brainer really ;D
PS I expect to be doing a mod to the PC case, so I can increase airflow, Nothing drastic, but I don't believe a singe fan will be enough and plan to add a second to create push-pull airflow, maybe from the rear or hack a hole in the side... It's not delivered yet, so cannot say more yet

No probs man. However if your case require low profile card then 1650 non super is the only available one. Mine doesn't, it can accommodate full size card as long as the length fit. So i can cram 1650 super or in my case an rx570 (single fan type from sapphire, so it's short in length) . Nothing higher than that is possible due to limited 240W PS though. I can cram rx580 but it's encroaching the 100% max load of the PSU. Too risky.
