I just got a a2000 from the exact link you have in this video. It came from Virginia, and it came with the high profile GPU bracket, and the low profile GPU bracket! I had a low profile gpu bracket 3d printed from a family member, and didn't even have to use it!
If I go ahead and build one of these, I think I'll wait for the low profile bracket to turn up before buying the rest, just in case there is anything wrong with the GPU or computer! Thank you for uploading this info and sharing your knowledge!
In my country 6th gen to 9th gen used CPU are still pretty pricey right now. But Haswell ones are pretty cheap, buy the empty (only mobo + PSU + CPU cooler + case) for 30$ then add 40$ for an i7 4770, 25$ for 16GB RAM, and 80$ for a low profile RX 550 4GB. BOOM, sub 200$ PC that can handle newer games (not RTX A2000 though, that's still around 380$ here lol) Wish we could get parts cheaper than the US as our buying power are pretty crap as minimum wage on big cities are just below 350$ lmao
Thank you @ETAPRIME, I've followed your channel for years and I finally put this build together! I was lucky, I managed to find a seller who had the PC with 32gb RAM already installed and another seller who had the GPU 12gb version for just over £200 delivered. Playing RDR2 on a mix of high/ultra settings at 1080 resolution is a massive upgrade from playing it on my Beelink Ser5 Pro, which is still a great system for emulation and travel. Keep making great content 👍🏻
What’s funny is this is what the postal service uses and we are currently upgrading to laptops. There will be thousands of these up for resale any time man. The postal service has them with 16 or 32 gb of ram depending on the model we have.
Thanks, I can't believe I will be able to give my old PC a second wind by just changing the GPU, I was about to give up on it and wait until the end of the year to get another one.
I found a Dell 3880 mini atx 10th Gen i3, stock at a thrift store, out of box it had a 200w power supply with no 6 or 8 pin GPU dongle so I did some digging and found a factory fit Dell 500w power supply with a 6/8 pin and slipped it in there to add a dedicated GPU. I added a m.2 SSD, 16gb 3200 DDR4 and a RX 5600. It runs rather well, does 1080p like a boss and even some games do well at 1440p. Love tuning these little machines like this I have a pair of mini HP Slim 260-p026 that I maxed out and added low profile RX 550 4GB cards and they do rather well for a Roblox/Minecraft box for my youngest kiddo.
I have made a hard turn in my gaming preferences recently. Instead of going for the best of the best all of the time, I have favored performance/watt. My main rig is a 13700k, 64GB RAM, and a 4080. My watt meter says my system takes 710 watts at the max, I can only assume that is a chunk of my electric bill. When you said this system takes 180 watts, that was an uppercut because my average load while in game on my 4080 alone is in the 250-ish watt range with a peak max that I have seen of 300. I am ready to take a slight downgrade in performance for massive power savings.
I don't suggest the Dell SFF systems past the xx10 series since they put the x16 slot right next to the PSU, so the A2000 wouldn't fit. HP has some of the best SFF systems and the Z240 is a little better option than this 800 G3 if you can find it about the same price since it has a better PSU, and I think they look a bot better too. And from the looks of it, that 7700 needs a delid.
I ran into this problem with the Optiplex 7060 and 5060 and also the HP Prodesk 600 G4. There's only a single full sized x16 slot and it can only fit a single width card due to the position of the PS. They started to do this with the 8th gen Intel SFF cases - which is one gen later than the PC in the video. It does work if the PS is taken out of the case, with a little bending of the metal and using no bracket whatsover.
Attention: 180watt is what it can pull maximal not what it can provide to the system .. usually you Wang to have your PSU significant bigger because the best yield is usually at 50% capacity.. Moreover, other parts like voltage regulators ram and chipset drives etc po (it adds up) also consuming power
I just want to add - the 800 G4 (the next version of this) has a platinum rated 250w PSU. So you shouldn't reach that 80% threshold under pretty much any circumstance
We had a lot of these at work. We had a rash of them with motherboard issues, but likely it it's made it through a few years and onto the second-hand market those have been weeded out.
Hey ETA! Wondering if you'd do a video on how you benchmark a system and possibly setup afterburner. Maybe it's more simple than worth a video. But I love what this channel does. I want to put together a list of video cards available that offer the best bang for the $$ that are low profile for unique builds. Maybe you have all of this. Anyways, this channel is addictive!
I'm not a modern gamer. I have a $300 Acer laptop that does EVERYTHING I need, and for retro gaming, I have a Rasp Pi 3b+ running RetroPi on a 7" monitor, and a Retro Pocket 3 for gaming on the go (there's also an old Pocket Go handheld with a 2.4" screen I keep in the car for days when I have a lot of waiting to do. Time passes faster playing Super Mario World.) . It's all I need and does everything... Watching your videos has me on the verge of buying a mini pc and a 24" monitor, and using my Monster S300 for sound... I don't NEED it, but it just seems so damn cool. Will I ever play AAA games? Probably not. Almost guaranteed not. PS2 is about the height of my gaming aspirations, so I can relive the thrill of playing Shadows of the Colossus, or try Hollow Knight to get my Metroidvania fix. But thanks to these videos, all I can think about is how much better doing that would be on a Minisforum or Beelink mini computer sitting discreetly beside a crisp monitor. So thanks for that... a new fixation has entered the building.
Its nice to see a GPU like the RTX A2000 be available for so cheap. Because this is an entry level workstation card (like the Quadro cards). It is a little slow, but it's so inexpensive, I would rather have this than RTX 3060 in my Video editing rig, Since it is much more optimised for that work. Honestly, with this card, you can make a rather pocket friendly and super reliable workstation for video editing and VFX. It won't be fast, but it would be more stable and VFX/ editing softwares would be more stable
We really do get shafted here in the UK. The A2000 is way, way more expensive here. Even the old office PC's the sellers here want too much money for them most of the time. 😕
Man I swear I was just looking at one of that exact model of pc used at my local State Surplus property warehouse. They had a whole pallet of the things for thirty bucks each. Honestly as a carrier for a gpu you can't beat them.
I’d be cautious running these power supplies at more than 145 W for extended periods of time. These machines were not designed to run that high, and 145 W is 80% of the rating of the PSU. I don’t have a lot of experience with these SFF Office gaming builds, but use caution.
To be fair he's been doing these SFF builds for several years now. If there was ever an issue, then he would've brought it up by now. Especially when he's the one with more experience with them.

I'll never forget the old Pentium 4 Dell Optiplex. Those things ran so hot it was like a hot hair dryer blowing and sounded like it too. We had so many of those just start blowing hot smoke because the insides were literally frying. Once you opened them up you could see melted caps on the motherboard and inside the psu. Hated those P4 Optiplexes.
I had this PC with 8th gen i5 and rx6400 low profile. It was struggling to play things at 1080p low/med settings so I sold the GPU. Glad to know there's a more powerful low profile GPU out there!
I'm thinking about trying out the lowpro WX4100. Seems like a bit better than 1050ti level of performance is doable after bios tweaking but it's a little known option. Its very low power draw is an appeal too. Seems like with a bit of hunting you can snatch one up for
and this could be good for steamos as well bc its AMD. but like the other person said getting a rx 6400 might be easier, unless you need a lot of displays
@@ruffprophetproductions @Ruff Prophet Productions I think they might be considering the WX4100 because they're cheaper on ebay. A word of caution on these A2000s. I bought from the Amazon link in one of your original A2000 videos and while it wasn't completely DOA, it was clearly defective and had to be returned.
mine worked great, but not everyones experience is the same. Heed dc's words. Not everyone gets lucky. If you're buying one, buy one that has a warranty attached, or one that is used by a person on ebay (i know that sounds weird, but those have been used recently in real-world environments rather than a "quality check")
I have one with a i5-7700. Use it for Jellyfin. Works very well, so far (only had it a week now). I'm kinda hooked on these small systems. Supposedly there is a 400watt psu, from HP, that'll fit in this system. I can't find one though.
I just got a 705 G4 based off an earlier video. Please make a video about the risks and what to check on these used pc. My first attempt had wet dirt in it, so they tried washing it out and didn't even remove the dirt so I could identify before it shorted. Second one ripped out the wifi chip and cabling.... Along with switching a good ssd for a cheapo. Also many of the advertised 2400ge chips are swapped for a 2400g which is a mixed bag of more performance for more heat. Lastly, I saw some videos where your performance was only around 7000 night raid, but on the same pc you would get nearly 13000 just by switching to dual channel memory which is cheap.

there's even a single slot version of that card which would of course fit in even more cases. there's also a 12 gb model becasue these were originally sold as professonal cards
It'll perform very well. It's granted that if that PC can run any modern triple A game like Spider Man: Miles Morades, it can definitely play any higher end emulator with great performance results.
The seller for the A2000's is not in China as stated in the video. The seller is the same on both eBay and Amazon and they are located in Powhatan, Virginia, United States.
I think he meant he ordered the low profile brackets from China, not the card. The card I ordered from Amazon (the link he posted) was defective so be warned. Someone else also in these comments bought from them and their card was defective. Your mileage may vary but I personally don't think the novelty is worth the hassle. Also this card doesn't support Geforce experience if that's something you like to use to tweak visuals.

It's normal considering its percentage usage. You should be worried if it idles at that temp. Personally, I double check my system when the CPU or GPU exceeds 85 °C.
How much 1080 P emulation could this handle, and could you show some emulation on a standard 50+ inch TV? If I'm not alone, I'm looking for something that would allow my kids to play all the retro and most of the newer console games on their TV. Seeing what 1 of your emulation station builds would look on a regular 1080p big screen TV would really help to show what these are capable of in the real world. Thanks again for all the great videos I've learned a lot !
Love your videos. I got an rtx a2000 from the same vendor and had artifacting and computer was running sluggish in my optiplex. I had a gtx 1650 before. You think the card might be defective? Card wouldn’t really run at all
Also ordered from the Amazon link in his first A2000 video (refurbished A2000). My card was also defective and I returned it. It would work "normally" for variable periods of time, sometimes up to an hour, but eventually the card would randomly drop to 20 fps or below, have minor monochrome artifacting, and would be locked to below 30W power consumption no matter what. Same system, monitor, and cables with 2 different video cards worked normally. I would not advise anyone buy from that link. I found a cable that claims to support DP FreeSync to HDMI VRR conversion, but I have yet to buy or test it
And if You let MSI afterburner to test it with the overclocking scanner (takes around half an hour) it will squeeze out 5-6% more performance in the factory power envelope. You save it to a profile and just load it when You need a bit more performance 😉

Nice to see some low cost sff alternatives to the optiplexes (of which I already have two!)
YES! I have this exact same setup and it is running amazing!!!
When you get that low profile bracket in, make sure you do a video on how to install it.
BOOM, sub 200$ PC that can handle newer games (not RTX A2000 though, that's still around 380$ here lol)
Wish we could get parts cheaper than the US as our buying power are pretty crap as minimum wage on big cities are just below 350$ lmao
Thank you for this video. I waited this video showing how an sff pc with that rtx a2000 would perform in games.

@@PIayboyNike pretty rad so far. especially for the price. fastest pc I’ve used personally even though it’s older hardware.
Attention:
180watt is what it can pull maximal not what it can provide to the system .. usually you Wang to have your PSU significant bigger because the best yield is usually at 50% capacity..
Moreover, other parts like voltage regulators ram and chipset drives etc po (it adds up) also consuming power
Yes. There is a "efficiency sweet spot". Why would this component power draw be a new thing when LPDDR and laptop components exist?
They are called losses.. id say at max it can deliver a somewhat pure voltage to about 153watt assuming its efficiency is 85%.
Agreed, watt pulled from PSU is not same as Watt provided to the system. But it can be use roughly. Probably the system only use 130-150w.
I just want to add - the 800 G4 (the next version of this) has a platinum rated 250w PSU. So you shouldn't reach that 80% threshold under pretty much any circumstance
The PNY T600 4G is also an alternative. Not as powerful, but under $300 new. I used one with an Acer Aspire i5-4460, and had great performance.
That's what I'm using with my old HP G2 i5 4590. Plays Hogwarts just fine.
That A2000 is insane! Dude the performance out of this is incredible. 😮😅
Same, it's between 650-900 dollars here in Australia.
Man I swear I was just looking at one of that exact model of pc used at my local State Surplus property warehouse. They had a whole pallet of the things for thirty bucks each. Honestly as a carrier for a gpu you can't beat them.
Great but what’s the longevity of this build? Not that the tower can’t be easily replaced.
ive had mine since february. its still alive and well.
This is pure genius!
i had to hop on the a2000 before it got crazy overpriced. this was the successor to the 1650 i was looking for!
Especially when he's the one with more experience with them.
a lot of times those SFF PCs have gold or even platinum rating power supplies, and they perform really well within whole power range
I just want to add - the 800 G4 (the next version of this) has a platinum rated 250w PSU. So you shouldn't reach that 80% threshold under pretty much any circumstance
T-1000 is pretty decent too lmao. Can run forspoken at 20 fps lol and Warzone 2 at ultra settings no lag.
rx6400 is known to be a sh*t gpu. Like avoid like the plague. an rx5500 is better than an rx6400. or get an rx6500. Anything but the rx6400.
I like it. But the mini pcs have stolen my heart lols
I'm thinking about trying out the lowpro WX4100. Seems like a bit better than 1050ti level of performance is doable after bios tweaking but it's a little known option. Its very low power draw is an appeal too. Seems like with a bit of hunting you can snatch one up for

You mention both an upgraded power supply and a source for the low profile bracket for the GPU. Can you provide links for those, please? Honestly, I am going to be looking for at the MTs as well. You can be more flexible in terms of graphics cards. I have a couple of 2060s laying around so this is one way I might go. But this would be a great little LINUX box as well.
Would love to see a full emulation video on this. 👍
Thankyou for mentioning the power consumption. I got one of these on eBay for a good price and plan to add a Rx 6400 which draws 53 watts. I was worried the 180 watts PSU wouldn't cut it.
Where did you order the LP brackets? Could you please provide a link? Thanks.
Tip: I use an electric airmattress pump to dust out my PC. Those are cheap, easy to get and don't run out of air. Best way to do it without speninding much IMO.
The a2000 is such a nice LP card. Makes me hope we get another LP low power usage card this gen. Maybe a 4050 or RTX 2000 ada.

Where did you order the bracket from, just curious. Also awesome video, planning building on of these for the living room for some decent gaming!
A word of caution on these A2000s. I bought from the Amazon link in one of your original A2000 videos and while it wasn't completely DOA, it was clearly defective and had to be returned.
Yea there's obviously a reason they're so cheap. A2000s do NOT sell for $250.
mine worked great, but not everyones experience is the same. Heed dc's words. Not everyone gets lucky. If you're buying one, buy one that has a warranty attached, or one that is used by a person on ebay (i know that sounds weird, but those have been used recently in real-world environments rather than a "quality check")
I would like to see how this would perform with an OEM Mini PC using an eGPU dock. It would be perfect for a mini PC build.
I have one with a i5-7700. Use it for Jellyfin. Works very well, so far (only had it a week now). I'm kinda hooked on these small systems. Supposedly there is a 400watt psu, from HP, that'll fit in this system. I can't find one though.
Would love to see a Batocera emulation build video on this. Xbox and PS2 ???
new to the pc world... so stupid question, is the cpu upgrade able?
Yea just have a motherboard compatible
Man these r fantastic....considering my budget at the moment this seems perfect for me....since i just want to play some old pc games anyways as i own a ps5 and xbox series s....this is perfect for me
lmao, i didnt know you could just copy paste the windows key, untill now i always been typing it, hahahahahahahaa.
there's even a single slot version of that card which would of course fit in even more cases. there's also a 12 gb model becasue these were originally sold as professonal cards
i really like your small form factor builds.
Damn nice. It really looks like a console (especially Xbox)
As other's have mentioned I would love to see higher end emulation on here.
It'll perform very well. It's granted that if that PC can run any modern triple A game like Spider Man: Miles Morades, it can definitely play any higher end emulator with great performance results.
I ended up buying those small PC's from HP, Dell and Lenovo, because they're dirt cheap and performs quite well.
Awesome video! Lets see how this does with high end emulation.
Don't use vacuums. Compressor at low pressure or blower generate less static.
I'm looking for a system that can run Baldurs Gate 3....I will look into this!!!
Great kit!!, where did you find that moving background? It looks great
Remember: No vacuum on motherboard! keep it case-only to avoid major static discharge

The tower didnt have the same power supply so i had to buy one that had the connectors to power the card. but i got it with 32gb ram and a 1TB SSD so not too bad.
Paying a little extra for an 8th gen might be worth it considering Windows 11 support, with Windows 10 EOL a little over 2 years away
You can get Windows 11 on 7th gen and lower processors, there are videos about that on RUclips. I wouldn't recommend upgrading now though. Windows 11 isn't a great OS so far, and has more bugs and issues than 10.

My A2000 at 99% usage is reaching about 70 degrees Celsius. Should I be worried?
That’s a tolerable temperature imo
No. Typically, anything over 90C is where you should be concerned.
It's normal considering its percentage usage. You should be worried if it idles at that temp. Personally, I double check my system when the CPU or GPU exceeds 85 °C.
Thanks for the input! I do appreciate it.
I bought this card used/refurbished. I suppose it’s an ex mining card …
How much 1080 P emulation could this handle, and could you show some emulation on a standard 50+ inch TV? If I'm not alone, I'm looking for something that would allow my kids to play all the retro and most of the newer console games on their TV.
