Good on you for upgrading, I’ve got pretty much the same setup. Great power to cost! That big drive you installed the SSD under is actually the DVD drive, the HDD is under the power supply. If you pop the front cover off, there’s special screws for mounting new drives. With the sata ports, the top dark blue is the fastest port, so I’d recommend plugging your SSD into it. The HDD into the next, then the DVD into the white one next to the black. 👍
I cloned my SSD from my hhd, but the computer won't boot up from the ssd. I disconnected my HDD and connect my SSD to the main dark blue port...but it won't boot up....did it instantly boot for you guys?
Hey mate, greetings from the UK! Came across your channel whisky researching an 8300 SFF as I want to do the same & build a budget gaming pc. Great vids & great channel.
I have this same PC to this day in my home lab. Another great thing to do is to remove the front panel (face plate) as well as that black shield housing the fan and vacuum those areas. If you've never done this, you might puke when you see the thickness of the dust. Mine looked like wall insulation it was so thick. I feel like the computer runs much faster since I've done that. Although as per your video, I will add an SSD to run things faster while keeping my original HDD (located under the power supply) as storage. I actually game on a PS4 and added an SSD there and the performance is light-years better, so I'm looking forward to this upgrade. Great video. Cheers!
1:30 Yeah, I recommend it too since my last ( very old ) computer died since I didnt de-dust the motherboard and more importantly the fan. The fan was soo packed with dust (disgusting I know) that the fan stopped worked - thus overheated the cpu. Now on this computer Im always checking my 'dust levels'.
I believe the thing you refer to as a hard drive is actually a DVD ROM drive. The rectangular hunk of metal underneath the power supply, I believe...but I could be wrong, looks like it might be the hard drive. That's just my opinion, like I said...I could be very wrong!

You made a huge mistake, SATA ports on the motherboard are not the same, the blue one on the left is SATA 3.0, the next is SATA 3.0, the next is SATA 2.0 for the optical drive, and the last one (the one you used) is ESATA 2.0 for detachable devices. Change your sad to the blue or the next to it to have full 6Gbps speed.

@@Shakeem Someone did a video where they measured the power from the wall, although a 240W PSU seems like a bad option, it was only rated at around 130W under load (this was with an i7 2600, 32 GB of RAM, GTX 1050 TI etc.) This was on the HP Elite 8200, however, I believe they both have the same power supply.
In latam American some guy make cheaper pc gamers with this pc .. old and used pc from banks or mini market from second hand , just add more ram . Icore 7 or 5 and new video card ssd her power supply and they get a cheaper pc gamer
Keemborghini cool, thanks! Also sorry to bother but I was just wondering if you can update the pc to windows 10 even you buy it with windows 7. That’s probably a dumb questions but I know very little about pc’s haha
1030 isn’t as beefy, as the 1050ti is the best you can have in that case, and it’s only a relatively small/medium increase in price, get the 1050 if you can. 4Gb RAM is too little, you need at least 8, 16 is the best. It has plenty of ram slots so keep buying 4Gb cards when you can and fill it up. Yep, win 10 works fine.
How do you change the boot order so it boots from the new SSD? I have the same PC and can’t figure it out, it lets me manually boot from SSD from the boot menu, but I can’t seem to make it the primary boot option
I’m building a $100 or less (stupid cheap) Fortnite Gaming PC from used parts as my first PC build. And this HP 8300 SFF is what I’m starting with. So far I have ; Intel i5 3.2GHz 500gb HDD 256gb SSD 16gb RAM Total cost is $25 so far. So either a graphics card or an intel i7 3770 processor is next. Just waiting for a good deal to pop up on Craigslist.
Keemborghini - Word, I just bought a GT 1030 2GB off eBay for $55. Hopefully that’s enough to get the ball rolling for now, but we’ll see when it arrives next week.

Do you think the elite 8300 i5 with 4gb will run games pretty good with a Gtx 1030?
As long as the 1030 is a low profile card your fine. My sister doing that same setup
Keemborghini cool, thanks! Also sorry to bother but I was just wondering if you can update the pc to windows 10 even you buy it with windows 7. That’s probably a dumb questions but I know very little about pc’s haha
@@xdtony650 I use full size card that has 75w or down watts Im using 1050ti of course I had to cut up the frame :D
Not tech savvy..
Guess not when you think a DVD rom drive is a hard drive...
You got it done though...
Well done
I try lol
question: Do I have to get that exact sata cable model, I'm asking because the one used in this video isnt in stock anymore.
To replace it im planning to buy the Insignia™ - 2’ SATA III Hard Drive Cable - Black
Model:NS-PZ025012SKU:6406731. Will it work?
Any sata cable is fine
How do you change the boot order so it boots from the new SSD? I have the same PC and can’t figure it out, it lets me manually boot from SSD from the boot menu, but I can’t seem to make it the primary boot option
You have to change it in the boot sequence. Make the SSD first
@@Shakeem it doesn't show up in the boot sequence for some reason, but it's detected in the normal boot menu where you can do it manually
Just wondering should I buy a 500gb for half price or save up for a 1t
Depends how much space you need
I’m building a $100 or less (stupid cheap) Fortnite Gaming PC from used parts as my first PC build. And this HP 8300 SFF is what I’m starting with. So far I have ;
Intel i5 3.2GHz
500gb HDD
256gb SSD
16gb RAM
Total cost is $25 so far. So either a graphics card or an intel i7 3770 processor is next. Just waiting for a good deal to pop up on Craigslist.
a GTX 750 and up you’ll be good
Keemborghini - Word, I just bought a GT 1030 2GB off eBay for $55. Hopefully that’s enough to get the ball rolling for now, but we’ll see when it arrives next week.
If your still continuing this series if i were you id buy a pcie to m.2 nvme adapter and if your pc motherboard doesnt support the pcie to m.2 adapter look into clover bootable
I stopped using this Pc a long time ago
@@Shakeem that's a shame I wanted to see the performance boost and another note I cringed so hard every time you said this HUGE Hdd even tho that was the disk drive 😂 the hdd was under the power suply
I just got one of these and it loads up it shows the hp symbol then windows and it goes black and I can still move my cursor any help?

@@Shakeem Amazon from a company named stallion tek it might be a hard drive issue
Hi sir. I have the same desktop. Also planning to upgrade it to windows 10. May I know where you get the drivers from and windows 10 is running on 32 or 64bit?
You can get it from hp and 64 bit

Before you put a ssd in are you supposed to remove windows on your hard drive or do you leave it?
i left it. have windows on both
THAT LOOKS like a 6300 motherboard, it only has 1 sata 3 ( you have 1 blue 2white) 2 white ones are sata 2 ... a true 8300 motherboard, would have all different color satas, the first 2 being sata 3 i love these computers i have had both.... but the board looks like a 6300, hpinfo64 would let u know
when he was in the bios i think it said 6300

@@Shakeem bro quick update i finally bought a pc can you tell what games can i play without and With graphich card?

1tb hard Drive
8gb ram
3.10 Ghz

1680×1050 resolution
59 hz refresh rate.
And also tell if i can do programming and have to edit using softwares, is my pc good ?
I will be very pleased , if you answer these questions? ❤️
Do you need the Sata cable and the mounting bracket?
There’s a extra sata cable already in there. But it’s good to have a extra one. But you will need a mounting bracket
Keemborghini thank you!!
For a SSD, you don't need to have a bracket. It's nice to have, but using double- sided tape works perfectly fine.
Do you have a guide somewhere on the parts you’ve added to it? I’m looking to buy one of these and add parts to it but I’m kinda a noob when it comes to PC building
check out the playlist I made for the 8300
Keemborghini cheers man
You have such a good voice
It was so useful your vídeo, bro. Thank you very much. New subscriber from Chile. 👍 I have the same computer and I want to upgrade it. I'm going to buy a ssd, ram and then I will buy a graphics card.

@@Shakeem thanks

No you can use any graphics card that’s compatible with your system
