Dude, Forest has got to be one of the all-time greats of the youtube van life community. He has one of the most original rigs of anybody out there and he can cook like an absolute champ. Plus...Rocco!
Most people would get away from the wilderness and mountains when facing an oncoming snowstorm but Foresty & Rocko see it as an opportunity. Thanks for the video!
I've enjoyed the channel for several years and continue to be impressed with your cinematic skills and storytelling. Felt like it was time to give a little back. Thank you!
Rocko riding on the dash gets me every time. That's a good dog. These are the videos that make me most envious of the Foresty lifestyle. How peaceful to be out in a snowstorm, cozy in a van with everything you need.
I totally relate to this peacefulness of getting locked down by a winter storm, nice and cozy with my dog at my side, all set for a good book and slow meal, pleasantly unplanned time off from work!
TIP: stake down a tarp on the ground near your side door. After snow pull up two corners and dump all the snow leaving a snow free area for Rocko to use the bathroom and clean your boots.
Donner pass? I thought it was the Donner Party that went cannibalistic trying to cross the desert by wagon train. Then the 49'ers did it and when they finally got out the other side said "so long death valley" and the name stuck for the region
I've been watching for a few years now but I must say this video is my favorite. The food, Rocko and the cinematography is crazy. You should be very proud of your work.
I really had to laugh as you described each ingredient and Rocko followed you almost saying: "Ah ha... OK... ah ha". But I really fell out laughing when you said "I hope I don't have to get all Donner Pass on Rocko" Run Rocko, RUN!! 🤣😂
Snoop Dog wine!! Donner pass joke. Donner pas joke out take!! Unbelievably fantastic camera work and fantastic editing. The best 13 minutes of my day. Thank you FF
Wow what a great video. Such a simple but incredibly well told story. I started watching your channel almost 10 years ago because of the amazing nature photography and watching you become such an incredible storyteller along the way is just such a privilege. Glad to see you doing well and thanks for letting us tag along for all these years.
This is one of my favorite videos to date. Your opening montage with the weather report on the radio set the tone. The pot pie looked amazing. And the drone footage of the morning after was gorgeous.
That van looks so cool churning it's way through the snow, a real brute, and the fact it's your house is epic. Take care of yourself and Rocko. Russ from the UK 🇬🇧
As a fellow van dweller, I appreciate how you’re getting by and making the most of your situation. Living comfortably with your 4 legged friend means everything.
I mentioned it before, but it's worth repeating. I'd love it if you published a cook book. I'm a weekend van camper and would love to have some recipes for the road and they'd be great at home, plus it would be unique "merch" to support you, Rocko and the channel.
He's mentioned a cookbook...if I had anything about me, I'd make a note of each recipe....that being said, there's nothing stopping any of us from taking the time to re-watch old videos, and cataloging our favorite recipes 😊
I envy your freedom and life, I’m sure most viewers dream of these adventures but you go do it. I also love your film style you pack so much into seconds and minutes. Your doggy is living the best life too. Awesome to see your stove ripping too. Stay on it, stay safe. Had to mention that pie as well, crispy goodness.
So impressed with what an excellent storyteller via video you’ve become. The coda at the end (silent film-level running, and the dark humor of Donner party) was absolutely the icing on the episode. Thanks so much for sharing another excellent FF adventure!
The out takes were hilarious 🤣 (only because it was you out in that weather retrieving the camera and not me! :-) I'm eating a microwave bag of rice and veggies and you are in the middle of nowhere in a major snowstorm eating a 5🌟meal and filming 5🌟 drone coverage of the mountains! This 'Hunkering Down' Episode was AWESOME! 💥
That beef pie looked epic! Think of all the other pies you can make, chicken pot pie, apple pie, Rocko pie… Thank you very much for sharing your adventures. I really appreciate your efforts into making them. And your sense of humor is down right hilarious.
You definitely have your act together. I enjoy watching you apply the technology you have assembled to overcome the challenges that you face in varying conditions. And finally, you also have a dog buddy to keep you company.
haha! Had to laugh at your end credits. I was thinking during the episode that you're such a legend for getting all those different shots in during the storm!
Thank you for doing what no RUclipsr does and , at the end, showing us the process of walking back and forth to get the exterior shots , and the bloopers! Please make that a thing for future videos 🫶
That dog is way cool. Man's best friend. Surprised she has been such a trooper with your extreme lifestyle. That breed really wasn't made for these conditions. Fun to watch you 2
I love these type of videos where you hunker down and cook. Rocko watching you cook is adorable and hilarious. I have a jack and they are such fun dogs.
Ever since the build of this van, I've been slowly noting the differences as time passes. The little paint chips, the dings, dents, modifications, etc. It's all just love you put into this home of yours. That van has so much character now. It's incredible.
I remember when we used to get snow in the area I live. Now we're lucky if we get a dusting all winter. Watching videos like these is suuuuper cozy and makes me miss the snow so much but I still enjoy these!
so interesting I think I have watched all your videos !!!..since christmas to see where you got your trivet to where you found the grills for over your firepit ..really enjoy all the vlogs to see how the move from bike to mini van to 4x4 van really cool ..have found none to be boring or dull ..they are filled with beauty ..great content ..meal ideas ..laughs .. and an amazing crockpot ..thank you for taking the time to film and edit ..really really interesting !!!
I have a Ford E-250 that I had converted to a camper. I live in Vermont and head out to Colorado, Wyoming and Montana every other year. I do NOT have 4WD. I’ve been in some pretty sketchy hail and rain storms and down some roads I never thought I’d get back out of. There’s nothing like hunkering down in my van out in a remote part of the country in terrible weather all nice and cozy.
You seem to be doing a lot better mentally this year! You look quite a bit healthier and more energized than you did last year, hope things continue to go well for you : )
You are organised , talented film maker , creating wonderful informative content , with your cute little pal , but most of all your are safe and take precautions . Sometimes. I absolutely love the hunkering down episodes, something about being comfortable in such adverse weather in the van is just awesome.
so cozy..
It is reassuring that Simon could get snowed in and survive just fine for quite some time.
These are the videos I first started watching this channel for
Yeah. It looks so comfortable in the van with that great screw too! I wonder if Rocko gets ants in his pants thou?
Dale Calder has some really good "hunker down in snow storm" vids out in his back yard cabin if you like that stuff
@@dallastrujillo7540wtf are you talking about???

yeah that pie made my stomach growl!

Any chance you could list the Ninja cooker you are using, on your site?

Not Chad
A well prepared opportunity. Appreciate hearing all the precautions including communications.
Yea benefit of a home in a van with heat, nothing against foresty forest, love his stuff, but the tards in comments my god
Check out his older videos, he has been in some crazy low temps before

Honestly, the 'surviving a snowstorm' episodes are my absolute favorite because of the slower pace, coziness, cooking, and sleeping Rocko.
I agree!
I've enjoyed the channel for several years and continue to be impressed with your cinematic skills and storytelling. Felt like it was time to give a little back. Thank you!

Thank you Jason. Happy to hear you're enjoying the channel! Have a great day!
Very Kind of You!
That's a big "dough".
okay, Rocko's anti-snow fit was hilarious! ..and then her diving for cover. She is so cute and silly
Why would you drive out to get snowed in place?
“I’m gonna whip up an afternoon snack”. Foresty proceeds to cook a better meal than I’ve made in months. In a van. During a blizzard.
😅 hehe it was a very involved process making that snack
Right?! Mmm it looked so delicious.
Right? To top it off, on a wood stove. Too Cool!
Me: making top ramen…🤷🏻♀️
Why is it we do better in small places no wonder the tiny house is popular
You putting the sweater on Rocko, the flaky pot pie, wood fire inside your tidy cozy van during a snowstorm =priceless🙏
Putting the sweater on the doggie was lovely.......that dog is happy and loved. Good to see❤
Amen!
I like your dog. He seems like a loyal companion that relishes adventure.
She is a girl doggy. But she sure is loyal and she loves foresty too.
Peak hunkering. A cozy fire…. Savoury pie…. Stunning. This was a great one.
Nothing as good as riding out a snowstorm with a fire, a delicious meal and a furry companion. ❄🔥🐶💙
100,000 % 😊
With a girl. Non furry

Man, every video you find new ways to be creative! I loved the weather radio intro, and hats off to you for flying your drone through the snow!

the radio intro was so cool!!

TIP: stake down a tarp on the ground near your side door. After snow pull up two corners and dump all the snow leaving a snow free area for Rocko to use the bathroom and clean your boots.
Nice.
I have often thought about making a series just about tarp tips. It's unbelievable what they can do
The Donner pass joke had me dying. Great show as always. Thanks for all you do.
It had you dying, but were you eaten afterwards?! 🥲
Donner Pass on Rocko?! My jaw dropped when you said that. Giggled. Then nervously pondered. Then uncomfortable silence.
I was thinking that before he said it. Lol
I love how he cracked himself up with that joke!
Donner pass? I thought it was the Donner Party that went cannibalistic trying to cross the desert by wagon train. Then the 49'ers did it and when they finally got out the other side said "so long death valley" and the name stuck for the region
Rocko on the dashboard is just the best😁 your extra camera angles during a blizzard!! You're a mad man lol.. thank you brotha 🍻😎🍻
I agree! FF IS a madman! I love it!
As a Brit I feel I must congratulate you on your correct pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce! Bravo sir!

There just something about like being in a small cozy place while the elements rage outside make it feel that extra comforting.
This video has a Coziness Quotient that's almost off the scale, which is the reason I've watched it several times! 😂😂😂

behind the walls of that common white van lay a gourmet kitchen with Chef Rocco and his humble assistant Foresty Forest!
