Good job, until the final summit I thought that was a mountain I could do haha!
We love you Steve!
I'm here because of your collab video! Looking forward to another one. Thanks for introducing me to Foresty
Beat it Steve.
lol
Right on mannnn
"The early-bird, gets the clean bathroom." Foresty Forest.
😂
Hahaha ❤....
Priceless 😅
I love that even when Foresty is mad he still calls people Ding-dongs.
even when we swear us canadians are polite :D
It's a major factor for me. I get so sick & tired of the nasty language which in my view also damages the speaker psychologically unknowingly.
Sad people can't pick up their poop. Do they think forest fairies come and remove it once they leave? Just punishment would be a year of honeypot employment. 🤣
@@Mark-gg6iy Language isn't nasty, intention is nasty.
Family friendly anger. Deep inside I'm sure he wants to hulk out at the litter bugs
Some ppl see van life as a 'until you get back on your feet' kind of thing but if you do a good job and build it exactly for yourself you do truly have 'everything you need' and all the freedom that most living in and paying for a house to live in don't have. I have free time because I don't need a pile of money coming in just to exist, in a world that has lost its mind over money this is the only sane choice for me.
Underlying risk is, you can't really secure a vehicle.
Your complaints are justified and I appreciate hearing the spirit in your voice when you talk about people leaving their crap and trash in such a beautiful area (or anywhere else for that matter).
Your gonna miss me when I'm gone.
I wholeheartedly agree. Leaving garbage in these beautiful areas is disgusting, and shameful. It will lead to closures and higher maintenance fees, ruining it for others and endangering wildlife.
I have never understood how people can leave places looking like that. I think it needs to be instilled in you from a young age for some.
they are legit but man he shouldn't be burning garbage and saying that in the same breath
@@tubulartuber heh heh 😏
Happy you checked in on Mike , you’re probably his best friend. Hoping he has a nice warm place this Winter. You take care Foresty.
I was definitely more excited about the 15 liter diesel tank than the hike.
You have a beautiful soul Foresty, wish their were more people like you in the world!
I was worried about Sir Foresty, There he is!
I still remember the working full time and living in a van in the city video. This channel really kept up and turned into something to be admired
He always makes pretty good looking simple meals 😋
I love your sense of humour, very subtle, kind of a throw away line in the moment. My favorite kind of humour.
I have to say, I was getting 'worried' that he was lost in the mountains...!! And good to see you've stopped buying logs for a fire...... The Ding-Dongs are the curse of this Planet...
Yep. Same.
One thing I love about a tough backpacking trail, very few knuckleheads. They're not much for hard work.
Breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the video posted.
...and then they complain when places are shut down, sheesh. Leave nothing but memories, takes nothing but pictures.
"Full Grown Ding-Dongs"
I can't wait to call someone that.
I prefer overgrown ding dong myself
Shouldn't take long.
@@joeheid4757 haha ya sad but true
Duck right after you say it. 😉
Be sure to say it in a Buford T. Justice accent.
I am so envious of this freedom. The more I try to pursue this lifestyle, the more I get out-priced...
There’s pros and cons to every type of lifestyle... a $2,000 cargo van can go a long way especially with low price of repairs every now and then
So mountain Mike is cozy somewhere with his family during the winter. I'm happy for him if that's the case. Thanks for the update Forest!
I, like a few other who have already commented, really appreciate your genuine disappointment and disgust towards the grown up ding dongs who treat public lands like their own. While we shouldn’t get bogged down in complaining, sometimes it’s worth shaming the ding dongs… Thanks for these wonderful videos.
@Lucas.jp I really appreciate your thoughts on this, I don't like complaining (don't think it does a whole lotta good) but I also think it is worth while to shame or bring attention the grown up ding-dongs and their crappy behaviour.
@@CS-uc2oh They DO own this land...it is crown land and every citizen "owns" it if you think about it. Our taxes are what pay to care for this land.
Unfortunately there are people out there that are simply thoughtless and have no pride in themselves regardless. When they haven't "worked for it" they don't appreciate it and act thoughtlessly, but when they DO "work for it" and/or pay for the privilege they feel entitled to behave like full grown dingdongs anyways.
@@markshanehayden4648I'm pretty sure these people do not have bags of poop lying all over property that has been titled to them.
@@lunatune3714 maybe not literal bags of poop lying around but you would be surprised how some people are even if they own their place.
A bet a lot of them would never treat their own land that way.
This episode had a bit of everything, even Forest oiling up his meat. Stellar video👍
Keep it up foresty or u gonna get some "dislike" in the comments..... just kidding
At least i wouldn't do that
7:22 Canadian Tire! Also LOL at the "full grown ding-dongs" that's being way nicer than they deserve Forest. 😂
Loved the campfire-thought I could even smell it! Then realized a neighbor was grilling.
Lol!!
If you need a place to do small things on your van, I can lend you my garage, tools and some witty banter for a few hours if you’re ever in a pinch. I’m on the far west side of Calgary towards the mountains. Enjoying the videos, keep up the good work!
Nice camera work Foresty (sp)
Ar 8:25 mins- "I'm pretty happy with this lifestyle and love my house on wheels. I wouldn't change anything or move into a house, I have everything I could want."
9:20mns- "the early bird gets the clean bathroom". I love your smile and way of life.
We have plenty of Ding Dongs in BC here too. The Ding Dongs here burn down cabins, don't bury their poop 5 feet off the trail and leave nature's valley wrappers at the summit.
I've been living in my minivan for 2 weeks now. Absolutely loving it.
Isn't it so freeing?
@@gs4984 it sure is.
@RealSweetKid that's one way to put it. Having some passive income and a touch of self respect helps me come off less bummy I guess.
He's not homeless. His van is his home. I want to get a van and do some traveling. I've been thinking about it a lot.
@@cat3crazy Thnx Julie. It sure is a lot of fun. I've already been to 4 new states I've never seen before and have seen some amazing new places.
My tip is have 10 to 14 spots spread over at least two towns if possible and rotate so you are only at one spot once in a two week period.
Also, I hear you on the more recent issues with agencies closing down areas that were once open to boondock. I used to stay right on hebgen lake near west Yellowstone on the myriad of amazing dispersed camping spots only to find out this last summer that the city has basically banned all dispersed camping around the lake. Probably because they are forcing all the tourists to stay at paid campgrounds.
It's completely okay to be excited about whatever you're excited about, sometimes it is a big hunk of plastic sometimes its a colossal mountain!
Can't wait to see your woodstove! Im betting on the Cubic Mini. :)
I'm glad to see you still living that awesome van life. I used to watch your videos a lot a year back, and I have started watching them again. Love from Pakistan ❤️.
"The early bird gets the clean bathroom" - you are a man of culture and great wisdom
I look forward to reading your books one day :)
dont remember enjoying this one last year as much as i do this year. so glad you are not slaving away in a factory, but instead entertaining the hell out of me. stay warm and bear free.
Thank You Foresty for mentioning the people that show absolutely zero concern for our planet, and participate in littering garbage and feces and could care less to treat our planet as if it's their personal GARBAGE CAN. This planet does not belong to us, it's a loan to us as the CARETAKERS, please take care of our beautiful earth for all of us to share AND RESPECT TOGETHER!!!!!🌲🌲🌳🍀🌺🍁🌾🌲🌳🌷🌱🌼🌍⛅🌞🌝
Foresty forest lives in a van love that tune
For sure getting a wood stove in there. Gonna be soo nice warm and cozy all winter.
FF, I can’t speak for all your subs but hearing the spirit in your voice about the whip dips that trash our beloved playground. Is not a complaint but a sad truth of the level of ignorance. Blows my mind too ..pack in, pack out. It’s that simple.
There’s something romantic about your videos. A sort of intimacy between man and nature. Please don’t ever stop making videos, ✌🏼 from Los Angeles.
Thanks for another great video. Don't worry about complaining about the messy campers. You are 100% right that they are wrong. If that continues too much areas can get shut down. It is already happening in other places. Cheers to Foresty and looking forward to the next video!
It's sad that their behaviour will impact everyone eventually....when people like Foresty always do the right thing. Those whackers will ( and are ) give the adventurous community a bad reputation. Cheers from Oz
Foresty is a SuperHero !!! Climb mountains , live off the suburbs, rig all of his contraption , and cook, too. And a very intelligent person.
For me, having gone "camping" in a tent, and basically, living out of my car, for 5 days is a challenge. It is very impressive, Foresty Forest that you exist for months, in a van. Bravo.
months = years
All my power tools are Ryobi, including a 10” chainsaw. I use 1 6x battery to rotate/run them all. As you noted, us van dwellers are ruining our free camp opportunities with our disrespect of nature. Going on 6 years and still loving it; can’t wait for springtime In Alaska now that border is open. Always enjoy your videos👍
I don’t think the Nomads are the problem. Most of these messes are being created by local teenagers who have no respect for themselves, each other, or for Mother Earth and Father Ocean.
@@living2ndchildhood347 yea but locals blame van dwellers and homeless.. real bad in Flagstaff az.. cant figure out how the homeless dump a coach and apartment in the forest
I have recently switched from older DeWalt to Ryobi. I particularly like that they are light and on the budget side but perform well and feel like a great value.
Weekend campers are the real problem, they just wanna get drunk do f*cked up shut.
Batteries are getting in short supply in some areas. Even USB ports are being omitted from Tesla's as we speak due to continued shortages. If you rely on these power tools you might look for a spare battery with the current holiday sales coming so you've got two in case something happens to one you have currently so you aren't left without functional tools. Stay safe!
happy to see you still alive ;)
There isnt a single person in mainstream media with such an absolute genuine and authentic mountain life, updating once a week all year round.
You tube has brought us this and gives individual talent the chance to earn enough to live. Bear grylls is such a fake.
Omg....I woulda loved to see your factory work days...I remember watching u then....
I don’t think it’s the parking fees they are worried about. It’s more the van lifers growing in numbers that abuse it, leave trash and all the other BS. Cities weren’t built for van dwellers.they also want that property tax money that goes with home ownership.
Owning a home is becoming difficult.
They all reside in Portland now….
Well, yeah, cities and towns need money. Takes a lot of money to provide the services everyone expects in a city. With all the respect in the world, and compassion for those people living in their cars that society has turned it’s back on. But this lifestyle is a bit parasitical. I assume van-lifers who have income are paying federal taxes, but they are probably not paying state and local taxes. Certainly not local except in the form of fees and sales taxes. Van-lifers are just trying to live, but so are cities and towns.
Peeing on the side of the roads and in parking lots is why I don't want Van Life in our community anymore. Usually they're self centered a$$holes.
I was just doing some shopping a my local Home Hardware this morning, and complained at the entry desk that their trash out front was overflowing and left me no place to dump a full kleenex. They replied that the overnight campers keep filling the trash receptacle with all their refuse. Judging by the messy tomato sauce cans and food packaging around it, I saw their point. It’s a shame people abuse the “free” parking.
That sunrise was breathtaking! Does my heart good that you care about the planet and check on Mike. You are a great being Foresty Forest! 💕
Preach on, brother! "Its public land, I own this too" means very different things to different people.
Hopefully you will meet Michael further down the road and we can get an update on how he is.
"The Early bird gets the clean bathroom"
#vanlife
Words to live by.
I've been watching you for several years now and, my friend, this video is perhaps your best. It transcends video and becomes a perfect example of film-making. The tech-wisdom woven into the life wisdom overlaying the food wisdom all framed by the wilderness wisdom. "You gotta love the Rockies."
The early bird gets the clean bathroom. These words hold true in my house as well.
This really feels like a forest forest classic.
Thanks so much for 'taking us along ' Simon, it's the only way I'll ever see those amazing views! I have that rearview set up in my rig for a couple of months now and I'm impressed, good move to put the rear camera inside. Stay safe out there!!
Nice avatar..!
Laid back Margaritaville..
Glad you're are still alive lol! I think that was the biggest gap in content ! I was getting worried.
"I'm not comfortable eating that much butter in one sitting". LOL
Dude. My mother living in Cochrane is going to set up a Toll Booth and pay you to park on her driveway! If I had a nickel every time she dropped your channel and name, I'd be buying a van myself. If you see a 78 year old coming your way with some fresh muffins, etc. you'll know your busted.
Haha - That’s awesome.
I absolutely love the fact that you shifted your excitement from something material to having a life experience instead! We can all learn a lesson from you on that one. I find myself doing the same thing and I need to take a page from your book and shift my mode of thinking. Thank you for these gentle reminders of what is so much more important! Safe travels and happy trails.
By far my favorite channel rn keep up the good work Foresty!
I am clueless when it comes to mountain climbing, but there can't be many other climbers that have over 100 summits. Foresty has got to be near the top of the list!
Wherever you be, hope you are safe from the storms.
You are just a master at campfire cooking! Total inspiration. #CampIngGoals
Another great video... Something tells me that a wood stove for the van, is in the future. 😁 Good to see you're still out there, kicking life's ass. Stay safe and warm!
'Freedom just another word for nothing left to lose, cause when you have nothing ain't nothing left to lose'
Another great video. Watch for the scenery, simplicity and all the Forestyisms …keep it up…please…thank you.
I’m impressed with your hiking and cooking ! You have many skills. Love the channel too!
7:50 "You will own nothing and be happy" and "you will eat ze bugs"
Deez Nuts..
You gave me an excuse to say it.
Alberta has turned into some kind of authoritarian dystopian nightmare..... but never mind about that that beef taco was awesome I could almost taste it from here..... more awesome photography thanks foresti
this is the real van life. not some fake crap with a super clean van. great video.
Good to see you again forest
He returns!
Candle are nice for warmth and the keep humidity out too.
Can I just say, I appreciate how you're conservative with what you show. (super "stealthy"/awkward spots) Some van life channels push it too far (cooking Taco Bell in a Taco Bell parking lot, "I parked near someone's house for 24 hours! etc). You respect boundaries and don't ruin it for the future, I like it a lot. Also, you didn't complain too much in this video-totally deserved!
You riding through that stream was an awesome shot!
Nothing worse than getting the dreaded Knock Knock on the side of your van when trying to simply rest.
It actually looked like him
Forest trying to jump scare us 😄
The happiest people have your philosophy.
Foresty, Thank You For Everything You Do 😙🌱💕
One of my fav episodes yet. Cinematography keeps getting better and better. Haha yeah that sucks you can't show the good old days video from when you first started the van life. For those of us fans who have been with you a long time, a collaboration video of you from then till now would be an awesome throwback episode. Oh how far you have come. It was fun seeing you with the crockpot making recipes then progress to the air fryer. Was also an adventure seeing you make improvements on the old van, build up the new van, and continue to make adjustments to it even still to this day. It's really a good way to live vicariously through you and your lifestyle that many of us who live a city life would dream of having! Keep up the great work forest 😎 👍
I'm sitting at my desk and once again you magically teleport me thousands of miles away to the Canadian Rockies. I look forward to the times of the week I get to see what Foresty is up to. Thank you for taking us along and providing me with a source of inspiration. It makes me feel good to know you're out there in the van. I hope we cross paths one day
Get some work done😃
No matter my mood, a Foresty Forest video always puts a smile on my face. It's really incredible and inspiring to see how far you've come. Can't wait for more adventures... and van life chronicles!
Man people over complicate their life’s so much , this right here is a beautiful life , I’m happy for you 👍🏽
Foresty, I'm surprised you don't attract bears with all that tasty smelling food you cook outdoors.
Im large and hairy and attracted to Foresty....does that count?
Hi Foresty , I was suffering withdrawals from not watching a new Foresty Forest Video. Glad all is well. Looking forward to the wood stove. Another great video. Stay cool Foresty. 😎🇨🇦
The sizzle sound at 18:00 make me happy. I went hiking today too! After work I hiked from Costco parking lot to Costco Food Court for the $1.50 soda/hotdog combo. $1.67 with tax.
Following you from France, you're getting video after video my favorite content creator, it's difficult to find humble and real people on RUclips. I live in the Alps, and I enjoy so much discovering Canada this way, specially because you show what the rocky mountains are. Don't change. A bientôt !
Damn im working! Gotta take a pause to check that vid !
I bet it's a wood burning stove! I put the Cubic cub mini in my van, it heats it plenty but I wish I went with the bigger one just for the ability to stoke it less and put bigger pieces of wood in... Live and learn. Cheers from Minnesota!
Hey what's up Forrest I love your show man I'm an African-American guy who lives in New York and I watch this shows and it pretty much puts me to sleep I mean in a good way wish I was there man but be safe going up those mountains
Can't wait for the next one
Thank you for taking us along your journey
"Bag of poo" That made me chuckle for some reason.
Foresty going for the ritzy vanilla
Agree on the diesel heater. I started out with the Mr. Buddy and didn't like it much. Like you said, you have to keep windows open and stuff while using it. Plus, you definitely don't want to be running it at night while you sleep. The diesel heater has been awesome. More control over how much heat you get... no worry about fumes... and it's tons safer. It does require a little electricity. Not a big deal though, especially if you have a solar setup or something like that.
You can probably park for a couple days at a time at truck stops.
I feel the same way about not needing a house. I have called a semi my home for twenty years.
Great content, Thanks for sharing!
You're correct about being disappointed by fellow "campers".
I Can't wait to see where you go next.
Foresty, did Mike give you his phone number? I've been genuinely concerned about him since your first mention of him.

It is unfortunate to hear that people aren’t as friendly when it comes to van lifers, if they got to know more people like you then maybe they might change their mind. You always have our support.
Ha.. like your avatar!

Cause and effect . At least for the portion of people that abuse can dwelling , like staying parked for days on end, disrespecting property owners, littering.. now that kind of thing you really can’t blame someone for not being friendly to van dwellers. However , I do agree for those that are responsible and respectful I personally think people should try to be friendly to those folks.
