Truck Camping in a Snowstorm, 13" of snow! Custom built Rotisserie

- This Week I'm taking you to Lake Bemidji in a classic Minnesota March snowstorm. We got more snow than expected. The storm total was 13 inches over the weekend. The temperatures remained in low 20's all afternoon and dipped down to 5 degrees at night. Even though we were in a snow storm the truck camper stayed warm and provide a four-star shelter during the storm.
I had a dream that I made beef ribs over the campfire, I put it to the test, and it turned into a nightmare. No.....it wasn't that bad, but it didn't work as planned. I still had a great time, and the food was good. Thanks for going along on this week's adventure. - Развлечения
Many, many years ago we took a group of teens camping in Canadian winter. A Boy Scout troop had been there a week before and dug an open area about 10 feet down so we had a wall of snow all around us. We all just spread tarps and sleeping bags out, no tents, taught the kids how to make Bannock bread and bacon cooking over sticks. The campground had outhouses you had to climb down stairs of snow to. Next day we snowshoed around a small lake. Fun times.
That sounds awesome!
Thanks For Braving The Weather To Bring Us A Video This Week!
Thanks Josh! As always, your generosity is so much appreciated!
Good job, sir. Thank you for taking us along with you.
@ 4:35 ❤ The classic response “Well sure I think that’s fine”. Love your adventure and thanks for sharing. You showed me some excellent pointers sir!❤
What an amazing adventure. I really look forward to Tuesdays to see what a great time you have had. Thanks for sharing with us!!!
That's great John, I appreciate the comment!
I love the ingenuity!
Nice little adventure, thank you for taking us along.
Thanks!
That was the kind of place I could stay at a week at a time. So peaceful. Safe travels!
Thanks Tony
A pleasure watching a fellow Minnesotan camping in the snow. Keep up the good videos!
😊 Thanks!
Kenny your such a Rock Star. 🎉 You crack me up. Your friend Dano
Thanks Daniel.
A+ on ingenuity, never would've thought about using a drill like that, especially in a snow storm. Wonderful video as always. Yep, a true winter camper will go into a snow storm to camp and that's exactly what you are, Kenny! Have a great week!
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Real man of genius 👍👍👍
Beer can chicken is the best!!!
I absolutely love your enthusiasm of cold-weather camping. Down here in the mountains of Arizona when I gets below freezing and snows, I’m the only one out there in the forest. Love it.
It is really nice to have the forests.
Hey Kenny,
Thank you so much for giving me something to look forward to every Tuesday after work. I appreciate you, man! On a side note, I just picked up a Zoom F3 Field Recorder to capture the sounds of nature. Very excited to try it! Building out the mics and mounting setup next. Hope you have a great week, buddy!
That sounds awesome!
Kenny, nice video! Smiling the whole time, you make perfect sense about going into the snow to camp. I promise, if I had a rig similar to yours and go the same, or further, distance! Nice to meet you. Thanks for a show!
Thanks, that was an awesome comment! I appreciate that.
Yessss sir , that drill idea im not going to lie i will use it that was great.
Ty 4 sharing
Enjoyed the show, will watch again
Thank you very much!
Hey Kenny, holy buckets. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing👍🏼
Thanks Mike!
The words “intrepid chef” come to mind. Those ribs look amazing! I’m glad you didn’t have a rib loving critter wander within nosing distance. Save the blackened pieces for me! Thanks, Kenny!
Lol Thsnks Bill.
Thank you for posting. Looks so peaceful
Thanks Robin
I love bemidji! I will have to try and add that to my list of areas to get to !
I wish I could have explored more. It does look like a great area.
Thanks for the video, great winter scenery, nice music.and cozy camper.
Thank you Elise
Me and my uncle would camp in his RV a lot during the winter, one thing we agreed on, a camping trip is not a camping trip unless you camp out in the snow. Thanks for sharing.
When I lived in Michigan I alway went winter camping. Love it.
Hey Kenny,
Enjoy your week, thanks for the video.
Cheers.
Thanks
Awesome set up on the grill, at least it mostly worked! Love the woods covered in snow, we just had some snow and the woods behind my house looks amazing! Winter wonderland for sure
It does make it pretty.
Another good one Kenny.....🤠
Thanks Richard
Thanks for sharing this amazing video. Enjoyed a lot watching it. Hopefully up to the next one!
Thanks Payam! I'm out in the camper right now putting together the video for Tuesday! Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic idea and I swear I could smell those ribs all the way over here in England!!! yum x
This video brought back fond memories of camping in the White Mountains in New Hampshire during the winter. I'm catching up on some of your videos that I've missed over the years!
Thank you Kenny for the awesome video‼
It's awesome that you are going back and seeing some of the old videos. I really appreciate that!
Have enjoyed your videos, first one I saw with your wife and dog ! You seem to be very equipped with all the things you need to make camper life much easier ! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Margaret. I i get in the truck camper every weekend, so I keep it ready to roll at a moment's notice. I love the freedom that exploring with a four by four truck and truck camper brings.
Brother Kenny, you have the perfect setup. I hope to do what you do someday and your setup is perfect for it. It looks really comfortable.
Thanks, it definitely feels like a second home. Honestly, if I didn't have such a comfortable setup, I doubt that I would make these videos on my two days off every week. I get a lot comments saying "your not really camping," or "You should just stay home if you're gonna be in a camper like that." Some people don't get it. Tents were cool in my 20's and 30's. I'm almost 50. I like having a queen bed, bathroom, and full kitchen when I'm in the forest.
@@KennyOfAllTrades I know exactly what you mean. There's all the difference in the world in a man in his twenties and his 50s. I found out in my mid 20s that myself and sleeping on that ground wasn't gonna jive to good at all 😂
I do a LOT of BBQ Weber smokey mountain and weber kettle. Beef ribs are very good, they do edge out pork ST Louis by a hair. But waaay more money. Look for a 14”Weber Smokey Mountain. Take it along with you on your adventures, it will forever change your cooking in the outdoors. Probably went by my place on hwy 371 north of Walker
Small World, Mandi grew up and went to high school in Walker. I'll have to look into the grill.
Look forward to each Tuesday love the videos can't wait to get my camper out
Awesome, thanks!
I like that camper you have 👍
Thanks Bruce. It's going on 20 years old, but Arctic Fox makes some quality campers! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for another excellent video Kenny. 👍✌️
Thanks Spud Man, I always appreciate you watching and leaving every week!
My Grandparents lived near there in Longville. I was smart and Moved to San Antonio Texas. 84° here today.
Lol, warmer temperatures would be nice!
That is a very nice camper! The drill use was very clever! It was worth a try!
Thanks Linda. It was fun to try something different. I had fun putting it together, and that made it all worth it in the end. I appreciate you watching.
That looks so good. I'll be there in a few
Lol, thanks. It was awesome!
Yummy ribs! Love the drone shots.. Glad you made it home safe…. Keep up the good hard work!
Thanks Babe
What a great refreshing video great job my man I love the camper that bed is so big I was amazed at how it looked on the inside and the peace and quiet you can't
I from British Columbia, and we have an abundance of places like this.....cant wait to share. love you videos.
I would love to visit British Columbia. It would be awesome to spend a few months looking around. Thanks for watching the video.
@@KennyOfAllTrades when you get a chance to visit British Columbia, add a stop for Vancouver island. Tons of logging roads with amazing views, perfect for a 4x4 truck camper adventure.
@Nimesh My all-time favorite camping channel was Taylor Dzaman. I knew after watching him one day I would make it to Vancouver Island. It looks like endless beauty over there.
Supper is almost ready.. going to throw this up on my 55” tv and watch it with supper.. cheers to Tuesdays! 🇨🇦✌🏻
I appreciate that! I hope you enjoyed the video.
Another great video…
Good stuff Kenny. The Rotisserie was genous!
Thanks!
Another great video ribs look good thanks for doing this trips
I appreciate you watching the videos!
Nice video brother stay blessed!!!
Thank you!
I'm impressed by your attempted innovation with the rotisserie! 😃
Thanks!
Hey Kenny, I sure love seeing your videos pop up !
Thanks Charles
There's something quite special about camping in a winter storm. I've done my share here in Western Canada.
You've got a nice rig, and your video editing with the non-intrusive soft background music is Ace!
Enjoy your journeys. Peace.
Very cool comment, thanks Bernard!
I just rewatched this video. So peaceful ❤️. Spring snowfalls in MN, knowing it was probably one of the last blasts of snow, 25°F is balmy during a snow storm.
Come to think of it, I think this was our last big dumping. We sure did get a lot of snow last year. Thanks for checking out the video again .
Dang, those beef ribs look scrumptious. 😋 I haven't been 2 Bemidji in years. I live in mpls.
Thanks!
Awesome video
Thanks Alvin I appreciate that.
That's so peaceful, them black bears setting on the bench waiting for a rib. 😊😊😊
Another mellow awesome video.
Thanks
Great video as usual Kenny. That rotisserie idea was clever even though it didn't work. Trial and error.
Yep. That drill was the wrong one....an older brush style drill would have been the ticket.
Cool video. And beautiful view of the snow and surroundings …Aloha 🤙🏾
Thanks Daniel, I appreciate the comment!
Beautiful scenery
Thanks you Katie, it was super peaceful there.
You needed a tin tent roof over those ribs. Yum!
That's a good idea. This was my first attempt at a rotisserie. The tin tent is a good idea.
Very cool video, winter camping is so peaceful.
Kenny I loved the drone footage this week. I was surprised you were able to get it out. Great ingenuity on the ribs. Take care see you next Tuesday.
Thanks Lynn!
Great video, Mahalo for sharing.
Enjoyed the trip, 😊
Thanks
Nicely done! 👍🙂
Thanks!
Ahhhh i see where the name (Kenny of all trades) comes from cos there's no way in a million years i would've thought of the your rotisserie idea. You come up with amazing solutions to problems in the back country and it has me thinking i need to think outside the box more LOL.
As usual another amazing one in the bag. Thank you for taking us along sir 🙂
I never seen snow in my life.. thank you for showing this beautiful video!🙏🏻🇮🇩
Thanks for watching
Kenny: $10 for you for putting up with all the snow this season and for putting up with me over the years! Good work and look forward to your next filmed adventure! Todd
Todd!! It's awesome that you found the channel! I appreciate the support.
I should be thanking you for putting up with all my phone calls over the years!! I appreciate you watching.
Love the video!!
Thanks!
Hello,
Very cool video!👍
Greetings Seven🖖
Thanks Seven!
Lol…Great job utilizing the drill, I’m definitely borrowing that…We really look forward to and appreciate the effort and time you spend to take us along for the ride…(famous Dave’s rub is pretty great on ribs too) Great job brother and safe travels…
Thanks Travis
The forest looks majestic with the snow
The snow makes everything super quiet. You can hear all the little creatures scurrying around in the trees. It is something special.
Kenny - your voice is soothing. You could read me an instruction manual and I’d fall asleep. Love the video!
Thanks Amber! I'll be honest, like most people, I don't like the sound of my voice while editing. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the comment!
Good plan on leaving the slide in. Back in late March of 2011 I was returning from the Overland Expo in southern Arizona. At Bishop, CA, they shut down highway 395 due to snow. I had a massive detour over into Nevada, which must have added a half day to the trip. I got back on I-5 way up north near Mt Shasta, CA and then stopped for the night. It was snowing. I put my slide out. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. There wasn't much snow, but it turned to ice on the roof of my slide. It was a sketchy nightmare crawling around on the roof of my AF 811 trying to clean the snow and ice off.
It took about 8 years before I finally got around to installing a slide topper awning.
The ice is exactly what I was thinking would happen. That was a time saver leaving the slide in
Love your videos Kenny! I have been binge watching for the last few days.
Hey Kenny, really enjoy your videos. I liked your improvised, custom rotisserie. You get a rotisserie motor and youll be on point with ribs, chicken, pork butts, ect...
Also, your truck camper is AWESOME!!!
Love tour van and all your skills whoa cool....zxxstay Sane😉✌🍁
Driving into a Snow Storm...that's Minnesotan Crazy! I would know...I'm one too!! Lol. 😂 Your rotisserie reminded me of something one of my friends and my Dad would do!! Totally cracked me up LMAO 😂😂😂 Thanks Kenny!! Poor Mandi.
I was told the other day that only a true Minnesotan would understand how I wear tennis shoes while walking through snow drifts and gi ice fishing without gloves on. Driving in a snowstorm is definitely just another day for us. I'm glad you got a kick out of the video! Thanks for watching
Work always getting in the way!!!!
Always!!!
I am also on the cutting edge of yesterday.
💯 Before the RUclips channel, I didn't even own a computer. I'm still amazed that I figured out how to edit and upload a video. I want to go back to the 80's and 90's.
@@KennyOfAllTrades yep me too
Watching from Dublin 💚
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
Very awesome my brother!!!!!
Awsome ur my new favorite
Thanks Mike I appreciate that!
Good Question, Mandi, you are a brave and dedicated man, Kenny. That is a lot of work to make dinner and it looks like you got some steps in going back and forth. Good Try with making the rotisserie using the drill. Ribs are always yummy! That winter wonderland looks so beautiful. Glad you made it home safely. Have a wonderful week. Mary 💕 Fred
Thanks guys!
Hey, we camped there on our trip out west when we followed RT 2 across the top of the country! Beutiful state for sure!
Thanks for watching!
What an absolute amazing journey…nothing like camping in a winter snow storm. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much!
Absolutely Beautiful and Extremely Relaxing . I prefer Beef over Pork myself. Coffee looked delicious on a snowy Morning. 👍
I'll agree with you on the beef ribs. They are not as easy to locate. When I see them on sale, I try to pick them up.
Your living my dream life mate great vid aswell 😊
Thanks! Making these videos can be hectic at times. But enjoying nature never gets old! I used to watch RUclipsrs enjoying full-time RVing and figured that one day I'll retire and do the same. But then I decided not to wait until retirement. So, I started this channel and devoted every weekend to going on an adventure. I still have a regular full-time job, a house and kids. But now I spend my two days off every week with a camera in my hands. Thanks for watching!
Kenny? You sir are my hero. I would have loved those ribs! Even tho the cordless wasn’t optimal definitely got by especially if off the grid. You are the best.
Thanks!
I will admit I was half expecting a coyote to come along just as your coming out of the camper to see it run off with your ribs !
That would have been super cool.
The wife and I are going through withdrawal....We've been checking daily for our "tuesday fix" of a K.O.A.T. video... lol
Whether you realize it or not.... Your videos are simply amazing. We absolutely appreciate and the time and effort that you put into making these videos for all of us.
Enjoy your weekend and safe travels!!!!
Thanks! That is great to hear. I'll be looking today, trying to figure out a location for this weekends adventure.
That was fun Kenny. Thanks
small tip for you put worm water to the plastic bag for defrosting windows you don't need de icer much better
Great idea!
Looks like a pretty chill and relaxing weekend. I'm impressed with your ambition with the rotisserie! A shame it didn't quite work as planned.
Yep, it had potential, that brushless drill was the downfall.
Reading my mind, was thinking about the lack of surge protector as you were plugging in lol
What? No coleslaw with those ribs?! C’mon man! Well at least they didn’t end up in the coals again 😝
Looked so peaceful, tranquil and majestic with all the snow. Thank you, again, for sharing your weekend with us!
As always, stay safe out there…..
It was super peaceful Mike. Have a great week!
Very cool dyi
Thanks
Holy heck! Quite the effort for outdoor cooking, wow! Your drone footage is spectacular!
Thanks! I appreciate the comment 😊
Oh man :) you gotta love those ribs on the open fire, Crazy weather just don't want to stop in that south country, its finally starting to look like we might get spring here too :))
Watching this in August in Oklahoma, 103° today with 110° heat index. That snow looked good! Those ribs looked even better, I do love ribs. Enjoyed your ingenious way of cooking them, I imagine if you tweak it a bit it'll work better. Enjoyed the video dear, stay safe and GOD bless
Enjoyed, amazing drone footage
Thanks!
Another stellar video Kenny! Over 7k subs as I write this. Your channel will keep growing, especially with your consistency of making weekly videos no matter the weather!
Thanks Jay!
Love your videos brother.
Thanks Shane
Sure eat well !! You’re amazing the way you cook ! I’d tag along just for the food !
Thanks, I appreciate the comment!
sure is pretty out there. Thx for the vid. I enjoyed watching.
Thanks. I appreciate the comment.
