Here's my New ALTERNATIVE method for trimming my own natural hair at home! I'm trying to grow out the layers in my natural hair to get it all one length across. Naptural85 you mentioned how you don’t prioritize length but you do prioritize the health so would you ever just cut your hair to the same length of your shortest layer? If not why wouldn’t you do it?

I have a question. Some RUclipsrs with natural thick long hair say DON’T trim that it’s “ridiculous” others like you, with gorgeous healthy hair, encourage it. So I’m a little confused 😅 because I’m growing my hair and I don’t know when it’s necessary to trim. I did a big chop after bleaching my hair (which I’m NEVER DOING AGAIN) so my hairs are like 5 inches.

Amen. I started my natural hair journey 6 years ago and she was the first person I came. I use her products both Melanin and her whipped shea butter recipe and my hair has been so nice for that and all the good adviced and DIY tutorials

I’m all about health over length. I’ve recently incorporated the 🍠 deep conditioner to my regimen and it’s bomb! Hopefully it’ll keep the splits and ssk’s at bay. I actually made a video about it as well! Thank you for the constant inspiration. ❤️

I’ve been getting soooo much pressure to cut layers into my hair because people say it looks flat but I totally agree with what you said Whitney! Layers cause more knots and breakage and my goal is to have long healthy curls. I just trimmed my hair while it was flat ironed and then I came and watched this now I wanna do it again trying your method but I only really have a need to trim every 4-6 months so I’m gonna do my best to hold off!

Whew. So much hair. So much cutting. I loved the technique.
This video inspired me to bob cut my hair at the end of January 2020. Since then my hair has been growing out beautifully and looks denser and fuller. Additionally my ends break a lot less often. Having fine hair it’s that much easier for my hair to break so having them evenly trimmed they can be stronger together against breakage. I still have a slight layer as some of my hair catches up but for the most part it’s the same length. Given Corona not sure when I’ll be able to get it professionally cut again to maintain the shape.
I remember years back coming across her RUclips I learnt to love my hair and I have been taking extra good care and it thanked me back thanks for the inspiration your hair is still the most beautiful I've ever seen😍
