Pretty much yes, haha. I'm here because I got my hair cut a few weeks ago and I have noticed SO MANY split ends ever since I got the cut. After some research I believe the stylist's scissors were too blunt. I have long, thick hair so this hair cut was not cheap. How do you get your hair so straight? I have kinky hair, more so in the back - sides are curly/wavy, and my hair has never been that straight. I can get it pretty straight just with a blower dryer but even going back with a flat iron it still would never lay that flat as hers. Do you use a serum or something? I’ve tried hundreds of serums, mouses, pomade, gel, you name it but I guess I just haven’t found the right one. Maybe you found the one I missed.

I will have my husband check the back just in case i missed a few pieces but from the mirror I placed in front of me to check the back mirror view with, it looked 99% spot on! THANKS! Today is the 3rd time I’ve used this tutorial in the last 18 months. It’s awesome. I get exactly the cut I want everytime. It always comes out great and I can schedule my hair cut for late at night or early morning to save my time. Thank you for this!
Thank you: this helps me massively. So clear and professional, yet not intimidating or full of nonsense, not pretentious. This has taught me how to cut my own hair and it looks a million times better: thank you.
I have a lot of hair and very thick.... It did take me longer. But with a lot of patience it came out great!!!! Thank you for this video. I never liked going to a salon and spending so much for a simple hair cut. 🙄 I go once a year because of that... now I can trim my own hair every few months.
I thought I f***ed this up but then looked at the back of my hair and was pleasantly surprised. So yeah this is a good hack, and it'll probably look better with practise. Good quality scissors are important otherwise you won't be able to cut cleanly with a big chunk of hair.
I have 2c/3a hair and I did this while it was wet, I wasn’t really too scared of messing up since my curls hide the mistakes, but there wasn’t any! At least to me & my bf’s eye. Im trying to get rid of my layers since they cause my curls to look stringy at the bottom & This was a great tutorial to achieve exactly that
I rarely leave comments, but I just had to say thank you! I've used this tutorial to cut my hair several times now. My hair is extremely long, reaching down to my lower back, and whenever I go to the hairdresser, I always regret it because they cut it too short. Using this technique and proper hair scissors, I’m really happy with how it turns out. Thank you so much! ❤
I loved the way it worked on my hair. I was bit doubtful while doing it but the results were so satisfying that I m gonna use this method every time ...
I never thought I could get salon results with following this video!! literally so detailed and came out exactly like yours 😍😍 the only thing I did that was not mentioned was I straightened my hair before I did anything and it came out perfect thank you so much!
it looks fantastic. i cut my own hair a lot but haven’t found a way to perfect doing my own first blunt cut. this is great! will try this in a few weeks!
This was the best and easiest video I could find on how to cut my straight hair at home. I have done it for years but the last time I cut my hair was about 4 years ago and 2 days ago it didn't go as well as it usually goes when I've cut it before and it still look a bit uneven in some parts but today I did this and it came out perfect! Thankyou for sharing your tips!
I'm so thankful for your attention to detail, my hair is exactly like yours except red. I dread going to my local stylist and desperate for my blunt ends. On my way to do this tutorial right now. 🥰
This is fantastic! Your hair is so beautiful. I have been cutting my hair for a few years now using different techniques. This is the best video I have come across so far. Thank you for uploading.
This was the easiest demonstration on how to do this. My hair is so long and I always cut it myself but I use to like it v shaped or rounded but I'm growing it out to donate and want a nice thick blunt edge. Thanks for the video. Going to try this 100%
Thank you so much for the hair cutting tutorial. I've been using this method over the years. I'm an ex hairstylist as well and I do not like to go to the salon. I am an African American relaxed hair woman and this method is true and tried.
My biggest fear is getting my haircut because they always take off more than I ask for or add layers to my hair because it’s thick and they think they are helping. I finally decided to try and cut my hair for the first time and this video was so helpful! Y’all it turned out AMAZING. Go for it you won’t regret it
This is amazing, I was trimming my hair at home, but line never was even. With this method I’ve finally achieved great result which I can say is near hairdresser work :))) thank you ❤️
This was amazing! My hair looks sooo good! I didn’t expect it to be that easy. Every other tutorial I’ve tried wasn’t even close to as perfect and easy as this was! Thank you so much!
Thank you sm for this excellent video! I'm a barber and cosmetologist but it is hard out here to find a stylist that will trim my hair as opposed to just doing what they want and chopping it all off so I have resorted to cutting my own. This video makes it soo much easier now ❤
This worked beautifully. It came out perfectly straight in the back the first time. I’ve tried countless other self tutorials and this by far is #1. Thank you for sharing!
Your video is, by far, my favorite video for cutting my hair myself. Today was the third time I've used your video for guidance and i love love love the results. Thank you so much! Now I'm off to see if you have instructions for layers. 🙂
This was so easy and worked perfectly! Just want my black sisters with natural hair to know that this really works. My hair is super long and thick and now it looks so much healthier after this good trim.
This totally worked!!! I have incredibly flat fine hair…but a lot of it, and over last many years I’ve grown it out to about midway down my back. Unfortunately this included A TON of split ends which looked terribly unhealthy and didn’t even add to the look of length I was going for because they were so scraggly. I followed this video, took about 15 min AND MY HAIR LOOKS AND FEELS SO MUCH BETTER! The first cut on the ponytail was probably about 6 inches! Thank you thank you for this! Oh and ps to anyone about to follow this video.. I’m pretty sure the crucial step of this video is making your parts correctly and making sure your hair is completely straight and has NO knots before you cut. Rattail comb was my best friend!
This is wonderful! Thank you so much. For the last four years, I have been getting my hair cut blunt at the ends with face framing layers. My hair is very long. The salon that I go to recently raised the price without telling me and when I went to pay, it was $56 for such a simple haircut. I will never go back to the salon again. I am going to try this method.hopefully I can get it to work with my super long hair. I need about 3 inches cut off because my recent haircut wasn’t enough to get rid of all the dead ends.
Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial! I've been feeling weighed down by my dead ends for awhile now (Haven't been to a salon in 4 years) but this method worked wonderfully for my hair and i'm feeling a lot happier.
Okay so glad you left a comment saying this. I haven’t gotten my hair cut in over 6 years and my ends are just straight fuuuuuckdd up. It also doesn’t help that I have a baaaad habit of going through all the ends of my hair, looking for the thickest strands I can find and then basically turning those strands into their own split ends. It’s a horrible habit. But I desperately need to cut it and if you haven’t gone that long either and yours turned out ok?! I feel there is hope!
A few weeks ago I followed your tutorial and messed up my hair. It was my own fault for not following directions. Today I tried it again to correct my mistakes and it turned out great! Thank you so much!!! Follow directions, people! 😄
Thank you for posting this. At times I develop sores on my head due to a severe immune disease. I’m always nervous to have others cut my hair during that time. So, when it happens, I come here to this video, and rewatch it, and am able to cut my own hair. I’m so grateful each time, because it always works. Thank you, thank you.❤❤❤
Thanks so much for this tutorial!! I’ve been so scared to cut my own hair for years after bad experiences and I just did it!! I’m so happy and it’s straight across! Love and light to you🥰🥰❤️
I'm a retired hairdresser. My hair was getting pretty uneven just because it's so hard to cut really long hair straight across the back. But this worked. Thank you. 👍
My hair is shorter than your by a lil plus I wanted an inch and half off it well didn’t want to risk too much so I walked my mum through a basic blunt cut and told her to leave everything else to me I then used you method as I love a good point cut, it worked really well I also framed my face a bit I already had framing similar to yours but mine Needed those ends off too so shorter thanks for this video as we’ve only just come out of lockdown, I had to get away from an abusive bf while I didn’t want to leave my stepchild, my mental health has been so strained my psychologists on leave and with family health troubles on my back this has really helped me bring some life back to my eyes. Thank you so much!I gave it a try and I love the result. My haircut is nice and blunt now and it turned out perfectly, better than it did in the salon honestly!🎉
why do people use point cutting like all the time? I cut my own hair and I prefer straight, fresh and blunt ends, i would never chip away at my ends/make them thinner knowingly, I just don't get it 💕
@Anna Anna oh it does look good, mine is thick and coarse almost down to my butt i trim it every 2-3 months so the ends stay as blunt and thick as possible

I have 2c/3a hair and I did this while it was wet, I wasn’t really too scared of messing up since my curls hide the mistakes, but there wasn’t any! At least to me & my bf’s eye. Im trying to get rid of my layers since they cause my curls to look stringy at the bottom & This was a great tutorial to achieve exactly that
Me too! Same hair type. I wish us both luck.
Thank you! I have the same hair type and am looking to do the same thing. I'm glad I don't have to heat style it first.
Thank you for this also didnt want to heat style as its been 2+ years i will just make sure its wet the entire time
Wow! I've never commented on any video ever but this one deserves it. Excellent!!! thank u
Your hair looks amazing considering it is bleached
It's a hair wig
@@moonfluer1253she literally said she's growing out the layers. Correct me if I'm wrong but fake hair doesn't grow....
Wow you should be an educator in hair you’re really good at explaining! Would love to see some of your work
I have watched probably hundreds of hair cutting tutorials and this one is the absolute best
Cut my own hair the second time with this amazing tutorial and absolutely loved the result both times! 😍 Thank you! ❤️
I loved the way it worked on my hair. I was bit doubtful while doing it but the results were so satisfying that I m gonna use this method every time ...
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! First time cutting my own hair and it turned out almost perfect
ruclips.net/video/S8uZ4AU2Iu8/видео.html
I never thought I could get salon results with following this video!! literally so detailed and came out exactly like yours 😍😍 the only thing I did that was not mentioned was I straightened my hair before I did anything and it came out perfect thank you so much!
Please do a hair care routine, cause your hair looks very healthy!
it looks fantastic. i cut my own hair a lot but haven’t found a way to perfect doing my own first blunt cut. this is great! will try this in a few weeks!
Love it - best one I’ve seen so far on getting a straight blunt back without a “V”
Go for it you won’t regret it
OHHH YOUR HAIR IS INCREDIBLE! I normally don't comment on hair videos, but you have the nicest, thickest hair! WOW!
I’m definitely going to try this
I have tried to smoke it and it works for me as well. But one black sister to another.
One of the best hair cut tutorials. This helped me a lot to cut my hair at home as a layman to this matter.
Just tried this tutorial along with Brad Mondo's curtain bangs tutorial and it worked out so well! Thank you
A few weeks ago I followed your tutorial and messed up my hair.
Thank you, thank you.❤❤❤
Great tutorial!!! I've cut 30cm from the length and it's all stright and nice. I feel 10 years younger :)
You did a superb job on this video thank you and I wish you the very best.
Thank you so much beautiful 🥰🌻
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Also it’s refreshing to find a prProfessional and interesting Australian RUclipsr thank you again
Thank you so much!I gave it a try and I love the result. My haircut is nice and blunt now and it turned out perfectly, better than it did in the salon honestly!🎉
why do people use point cutting like all the time? I cut my own hair and I prefer straight, fresh and blunt ends, i would never chip away at my ends/make them thinner knowingly, I just don't get it 💕
I like it cut blunt too but it’s to help soften and slightly layer the ends!
So true, same here, straight with blunt ends 🥰🥰🥰
@Anna Anna oh it does look good, mine is thick and coarse almost down to my butt i trim it every 2-3 months so the ends stay as blunt and thick as possible
@@mariajoana7438 i personally hate blunt ends and find them ugly if u have layers. like if ur hair has no layers then blunt ends can look great,
@@user-nu2vc9mp5jno I'm just talking about hair that has no layers but has straight thick ends. i hate layers, when i was 9th grade a hairdresser gave me one of those thick staircase looking layers it was so bad
Thanks!
This is the first tutorial since the beginning of RUclips on how to cut hair that I finally understand
Lol
I've watched a lot of videos and yours is the smartest and most assertive for cutting straight hair at home. Thanks❤ in fact I added lot of videos to my playlist and your miniature was the best so I left it for last and I wasn't wrong. I'm studying to be a hairstylist and I know that this way it will look good on me, I insist that it is a very smart way to do it
I have naturally curly hair and did this while my hair was wet. THANK YOU. You saved me so much time and money! (Watching in 2024!)
Really well explained...this tutorial makes hair cutting much more easy🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Ur hair is so healthy pls upload a hair care video
My hair turned out perfectly with your method! This is the best instruction video I have found so far. My hair is about the same length as yours, and it came out straight across the back, spilt ends are gone, and it looks GREAT! Thank you Lola!!
I did this and it was the BEST trim that I ever gave myself... The point trimming is amazing ✨🙌🏽🤯
Thank you so much! I just cut my own hair for the first time using your tutorial. I'm very pleased with the results. :)
Thank you so much for sharing this in such a clear and precised way.. ❤️🥰
Usually I’m like lefthanded of both sides 🤣 but I just did this haircut to me and it turned out very very good. No difference noticeable in comparison of my hair dresser does mine.
great it is easy and truly impressed with how healthy the platinum hair is, lovely
Did this and went to my stylist to touch it up incase I messed up in places that were hard to see. She said it was absolutely perfect. She didn’t touch my hair with scissors and just did my normal olaplex treatment. You’ve saved my bank account
Thank you! I did it and my end feels more healthy 😍. I didn't want to have to pay someone else to trim them just yet. Now my hair is good for another 3 months!
I love how you're so thorough in your vids. I hate to watch a video and they don't show the hair cut from start to finish or they spend more time talking then they do showing you. Thank you. Great video 💇🏼♀️✂️😍
Best haircut I've ever got! first time i didn't chop too much off the ends. I usually screw it up, or the stylist does, but this one was perfect!
Thank youuuu!!!! ❣❣❣❣
After the cut your hair looks so much thicker. Nice job.
Wow this is amazing! Just ordered my scissors, definitely want to try doing it at home in the future :) Thank you so much for explaining it so well and nicely
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I followed your step’s meticulously and got amazing results! My hair feels so much healthier! I’ll be using this method everytime I need a trim ♥️
Almost 6 months on I was due a trim and came straight back to your video and voila perfect results again! 🖤
Wow, thank you so much for this tutorial. I was very nervous indeed but being this close to xmas I just can't afford to get my hair cut. Anyway, after watching this numerous times, I did it. It's turned out great and I'm so pleased! The best tutorial out there...Thank you ❤
Can you do a video on how you treat your bleached hair? which products you use for washing it and mantaining it? My natural hair color is similar to yours and I dream of having it as healthy as yours!!!
Thank you. You would be surprised at how many hair stylists i have gone to that dont do the blunt same length that i love. I have semi fine hair so it is noticeable if i have any layers on the bottom line of my hair. This gives me hopes, will try this weekend. ❤
So helpful, literally exact same cut and length even blonde as myself so that’s made it easy!
Absolutely worked. I‘m super happy with my new haircut. Wish I could upload pictures here to show everyone 😁🎉
I'm doing this, definitely. Simple instructions, well explained! I'll be happy if it looks 80% as neat as your tutorial. Cheers
❤❤❤❤❤Thank you so much, you literally saved my hair! The tutorial was clear and my results were great! Believe it or not, it helped me to correct a really bad haircut given to me by a professional stylist. Thank you again!
I usually just wash my hair & get one of my kids to cut it. It's only hair it grows back. The thing is that they're _so_ scared to screw it up (way more than I 😂) that _they_ have always done a _really_ great job!! I started training them to trim the very back of my hair, at around the age of 7 for my daughter & 9 for my son. My daughter is fantastic at it now days, well she's got 16 years of experience under her belt!🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for this video. We're in a complete lock down for 6 weeks right now. & I'm all by my lonesome self.... & bored😈🤞 Have a great day y'all.🤗🇨🇦
My hair came out perfect! Thanks for your guidance, I’ll be coming back to use this again.
Also, I followed along with no volume, pausing at each step, while also listening to a movie on a different tablet 👍🏼
I've looked for a video like this for months that was where I could follow and feel pretty confident I can do it. So here it goes, thx!!
Omg. Lol. I was scared bc I’m not good w any tutorial I see on here but I tried this. I’ve only cut the bottom piece off and it already looks so much better wow 😭😭😭🤲🏼💫 Tysm!!! Too tired, will finish the rest tom!
Stunning and proffesional, my hair needs a trim just like yours. That's the best tutorial for this cut and I love that you are a hairdresser/stylist:)
