- Опубликовано: 8 авг 2020
- We finally got round to fitting the 400mm SQ7 brake upgrade to our 3.0 BiTDI Audi A6 project.
We were hoping these would be a straight forward upgrade but it turned out a bit of modification was required.

Being in the US, I can't state how jealous I am that you guys still get the tdi's.
Yes man I understand you I would never buy a TFSI Audi or any other German car, like BMW, diesel is just so much better. Only 911 I would have to buy with a petrol engine certainly.
You guys always brighten up the day, thank you. 😍😍😍
Wow those discs looked unbelievable brill.
Maybe not as fun as tuning for power, but brakes are fascinating!
I upgraded the B8 allroad with the 4 pot Brembos off of the facelifted Q5. It worked well on its own, but put the brake balance a little to much forward I think. Then I upgraded the rears to S4, and it was all sorted.
Pedal is a little bit softer as you say. All good in my opinion, and so easy to modulate now! Love the serviceability on the non-sliding calipers, especially with the salty Norwegian winter road conditions.
How S cars have only one or two pistons in the front is a bit strange I think.
Awesome. No point in going fast if you can't stop 👍 looking forward to more
Loving the new brakes
nice one Ryan
To quote Benny Hill in The Italian Job "i like 'em big!"... ok he wasn't talking about brakes, however 400mm disks man alive I remember the first time I saw an Audi A8 with 18in wheels. Glorious brakes and another lovely vid cheers.
Sick!!
Would love more details on the spacers sizes and modifications to make this work. Trying it here in the states soon. Cheers.
We didn't make any notes but its not difficult!
And I thought the 312mm stock brakes on my octavia vrs were big. Holy shit these are some big chonkers. But those calipers are 👌
I've got a 15 reg bra tdi that has 340mm front brakes as standard and even then I'd upgrade em if it didn't cost such a fortune to get an increase over what I already have lol
From the factory that’s the only thing that let it down looks wise car like that needed painted calipers but looks the part nar big old stoppers them like 👌👌
Plastic bottle and some plastic tubing works just fine 🤣🤣.
Car looking great.
Drove a W12 Touareg years ago ,think they were similar, fantastic stopping power 👍💪😉
WTF is Touareg W12 Diesel
HAWKbest it’s a 450hp suv ,I hear the newer ones have a google search engine also .
@@alancobbin1310 Wow, cool story, sad that I know only about V10 TDI and W12 N/A. Can you give me more information about "W12 TDI", please?
@@FPVForLife Delete please, lets see his story))))
HAWKbest the W12 only ran for 5 years and only came in left hand drive ,500 only made 0-60 in under 6 seconds and was well over £100k when new ,hope this helps 😉
Great video! Do you happen to know if for q7 4m 3.0 tdi an upgrade for the SQ7(400mm) brakes would be plugand play or it needs some modifications as well (spacers/adaptors)? Many thanks in advance!
I believe these should be a direct upgrade (Y)
hi, they look amazing! Is any case to fit in 18in for winter tyres...?maybe with other discs?
Minimum we would go would be 19's. Would be extremely tight with 18's if they fit at all
Nice work as always Ryan ☺️
Is the A5 V2 updates still on the table 🙃
Stalled project due to time!
@@ryanp6138 Sure no hassle the nature of the industry boy.
Love the vlogs all the same 😁
Just something bothering me as to tuning and horsepower and drivability the cam upgrade on the 3.0 V6 TDI would it be worth the hassle after you upgrade the turbo, fuel system? For fast road - track day 😋
Saw you at Cadwell in the red a5 chucking out some coal! Was in the grey mini
That was the guy who won it. I went through to give a bit of advice. It was mad hot so IATs went mad (which increases smoke). A small boost leak didn't help!
Darkside Developments was hot al give you give you that
"chucking out some coal" great quote.
Car already tuned? Did you make any power comparison between standard and upgraded intercooler? Waiting for the first power upgrade video...
thats all coming!
nice content guys keep it going, would appreciate if you can tell me what’s the best intercooler for this engines? I have a bitdi cvua 320 and I’m thinking to go for wagner, would appreciate your answer, all the best 👍🏼
We are looking to make our own kit in the future but the Wagner coolers are pretty good. We have these listed on our site - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/wagner-audi-a6-a7-c7-4g-3-0-bitdi-competition-intercooler-kit.html
Darkside Developments would you have this in stock? If yes I would order it
@@dan5pot Yes we have them in stock at the moment. Our kit will be 1 - 2 weeks hopefully
Helo! Is it possible to give a little help in terms of big brake kit for an audi a6 2.0tdi ultra, 190hp? I was thinking of buying an akebono 6tloc kit with 375mm discs and I would like to have a sense of what size / width / et of the rim will be needed to support this brake kit, and the rims I will also buy now. Thank you and congratulations for the content of the videos.
Most 19s will cover with a small spacer
Wonder if it didnt have the spacers on the rear spring bush because it's an S line so a bit lower than an SE from factory 🤔.
Possibly!
Looking forward to the update after Scot has been out with it. How much would something like this cost & is it a service you offer.
Is there a big increase in weight or is it now an aluminium caliper?
Drop us an email 👍 sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk
So what do you recommend to mount on to the A4 B9 V6 tdi, maybe something a bit smaller don’t need to be 400mm ?
S4 or S5 brakes
@@DarksideDevelopments Yes That’s exactly what I Had im mind. Please tell me you have them in your store? Maybe you know a place or a webshop where I could order at least both front callipers for my A4 B9 V6 tdi guattro S line?
how did ya fit bentley wheels? same boltpattern or swap the wheelhub?
Same bolt pattern so when straight on with stock bolts
Hey, can you tell me what do you changed exactly at the bracket, i also want to Build the SQ7 calipers on my 4G.
There are SQ7 Discs or S6 ?
SQ7, just some small spacers
@@DarksideDevelopments how many mill for the spacers?
Do you guys sell the components that you fitted to make make the brakes work on an a6 c7?
We got them used but can get all new, not cheap!
@@DarksideDevelopments apologies I was looking for the disc spacers and the carrier spacing lugs
how do i know or figure out if rs audi front brakes will fit on my cc vr6 4motion exec with big brakes
Test them, but it's likely they wont without mods.
Hi lads, do you think that sq7 brake setup would fit on a 2019 V6 Amarok?
We have something better coming!
Ryan P sign me up!
Also interested in the answer to this 🤔
what is the minimum wheels size required for these brakes? 19?
Yes
Will these brakes fit on a 2010 B8 S4, and will they fit under 19" RS alloys??
not going to say perfectly but I put 2018 q5 brembo 4 pots on my 2006 b7 a4. they seem very interchangeable in terms of bolt fitment / spacing etc
19" would be close but might clear, the fitment should be the after the modifications as I know the calipers that we took off went on a B8 (Y)
Where are the mounting brackets from?
Original caliper brackets from the SQ7, we just had to machine them a little to fit
We got a sq7 and can tell you the oem 400mm brake sounds and looks massive but not quite enough braking power in real world lol. Car 2.3 tonnes plus panoramic roof.
Just normal oem brake pads?
Will this work on a 2012 Audi A6 3.0 Quattro?
Yes no problems!
Your comments in spongy pedal is not because you have more pistons. When upgrading to a multi piston caliper, you need to ensure that the overall piston area is the same.
It's very surprising that 'specialists' do brake upgrades without taking this into account.
What was the size of the pistons off the original caliper?
It has more surface area
@@ryanp6138 Why would more surface area make it spongy?
More fluid to move, I would think from your first comment you understand this. The travel is longer, spongyness gone with another bleed
I tried this before on a my heavily modified b7 and installed some c7 rs brakes where I had to space the discs out 5 mm from the hub .. however I was getting some heavy vibration ..
I'm guessing the spacers have to be spot on weight balanced and also the spacers milimetrically cnc'd ?
We ended up modifying the brackets slightly to allow a thinner spacer ~2mm This enabled the disc to seat correctly on the spigot. Thicker spacers would have meant the disc needed a new spicot making failure to do this would possibly result in the symptoms you are experiencing.
Would these fit on Audi a7 2014?
Yes!
So you only changed the fronts?. There isn’t any upgrades for the rear??
We are looking at SQ7 rear brakes next
Hola. Como. Hicistes. A bajar la auto tiene suspensión idraulica
Just springs on this.
are these bigger than the C7/.5 S6 calipers?
I think both are 400mm
@@DarksideDevelopments I am currently awaiting the center of mine to be done to 66.6, so I’m slightly worried about the offset clearance
how big was the flange behind the? Did it fit right? wat was the thickness of it?
any vibrations because of that?
I think around 3mm. No vibrations 👍
@@DarksideDevelopments thanks.
btw: were longer studs required after using the flange?
Stock wheel bolts were still used.
Does that fit for A4 B8.5? Thx
Should do!
like to know many mm socket qkx3?
QKX3 is the size. I am not sure what this would be in mm
Will these git onto a SQ5?
Yes, with mods
@@DarksideDevelopments just brackets needed?
Wtf? Show hi f driving but how it change just fast skip. Wow..
First 🤔
Come on, cover up the seats you've been working in a garage with grease etc all day
I'm not the mechanic and it's my car?
I still can't accept the 'Bentley' logos on the wheels: sorry, but they just keep reminding me of those godawful Chrysler 300C's blinged up to look like fake budget Bentleys. What's wrong with a nice proper Audi logo? Sorry.
Each to their own, we like them!
what if use these calipers on RS6 brakes 390x36?
It's something we'd have to double check but we're pretty sure they would work
@@DarksideDevelopments because if it does, maybe the spacer between hub and disk it will be not necessary and neither the spacer between calipers and support. Only doubt it can be the rim
Let us know what you find via email :)
