I love this car so I have to comment and explain some things (and some missconceptions i've seen in the comments). So what happened, why is it faster than the new S6? Well let's look at the facts, both cars have aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.30 so there's no improvement there. Next up weight. This depends on options but the most frequent number I've seen for the A6 is 1930kg. For the S6 Audi says 2095kg so it's 165kg heavier than the old one which is a lot (I guess thanks to that big battery in the boot to power the 48V mild hybrid system which is not a complete waste. I get to that later). So there's power and the new S6 has more of it 349hp vs 326hp (omitting the overboost function so it's a bit in favour of the S6 because it would be 346hp and 700Nm for the A6). Torque is the same deal of 700Nm vs 650Nm. But the main question is where in the rev range are those numbers and that's another big loss for the S6. Max hp is at 3850 RPM (they really claim 3850 - 3850 never seen it being a flat number on a new car) and torque 2500 - 3100RPM. The old one: max power at 4000 - 4500RPM so higher in the rev range and more usable than peak hp in the S6 and torque 1400 - 2800RPM so it's a broader spectrum. So that's why it's just a manipulation of people's perception of numbers. The old one probably has 700Nm peak torque at some narrow band but it was flattened to be more usable. So that is why the old one is better which is a shame because the new S6 got ripped appart by the 450hp old S6 and beaten by an old regular A6. But why is the new S6 bad. Simple answer is: it's because it's a single turbo (well technically not but I don't count the electric supercharger which provides 1 bar of boost to a car that has 2.6bar peak boost). So just to correct someone in the comment section NO, the new S6 doesn't have a smaller turbo. It actually has a bigger turbo that takes a lot of time to spool hence the 48V supercharger. But from what I've heard from darkside developments (go check them out) the supercharger doesn't work that well so there's a turbo lag which the old one doesn't have thanks to it's biturbo setup. Now why do I think the old one is much better (i've read so much stuff and some of it may be incorrect so take it with a grain of salt). The old one isn't just a basic 3.0TDI with 2 turbos. The engine is redesigned and they don't even share pistons so it's kinda special. From what i've seen, this new TDI engine is just a 3.0TDI with a bigger turbo and a small electric supercharger. You can tune the old one to 380hp without a problem (ive seen 430hp stage 2) but I was waching darkside developments have problems to get over 365hp with the new one because of high temperatures so in this case theres another point for the old engine (to be fair the new one got up to 380hp in the end). So in my eyes the new engine is way worse than before. I truly think that if Audi wanted to go for a TDI they should have gone with the magnificent 4.0BiTDI V8. It would be a worthy competitor to even the old S6 with 435hp and 900Nm. EDIT: Audi decided to not invest money into the 4.0BiTDI to meet the new emission standards for 2021. That's probably why it isn't in the S6 (in addition to possibly not having enough space in the engine bay). So I guess RIP V8 TDI 2007-2020

In Europe a powerful diesel is the perfect car for eating the miles up. Them Bitdi's tune very well. Plus perfect for them cold winters in Eastern Europe. 2 1/2 tanks of fuel get me to the UK from Northern Hungary.
At the end of the day, with stuck turbos its not worth it to go till the red line in a diesel. This engine delivers stock 600 to 650nm torque between 2000 and 4200 rpm. After 4200 rpm the amount of torque it can deliver drops dramatically.
The reason why AUDI named S6 the new A6 bTDI Competition is because Diesel engine are considered “not clean” and so they would like to keep big V6 Diesel “cool engines” ; the new S6 has much more restriction in term of pollution and so the engine is struggling a bit more to Rev and so loosing a bit of performances. It is the same if you compare and measure performances of the 2018 AUDI RS3 and the 2020 model....a little loss in acceleration ...on all the S and RS engines with the same HP...
just compare the weight of the new A6 with the old one... Audi says the new A6 is around 2.1 tons (so it will be a bit heavier in reality), a german car magazine actually weighted the old competition at 1.95 tons. So the new one is at least +150kg heavier

@passion for supercars performance cars Have you ever sat and drove a Vw and an Audi? I highly doubt it, do you even have a license? Do yourself and the rest of the world a pleasure and keep your mouth shut, your theory makes 0 sense and makes everyone lose braincells reading your bullshit.
Is the turbo lag when starting off as big as with the new S6? I love the 3.0TDI with 272 hp. It works so well with the DSG because it offers massive thrust from the lowest rpm.
I think the reason that the audi a6 tdi is faster than the s6 tdi is because of dieselgate. The audi a6 might be able to detect when they are being tested for emissions then they decrease the power of the engine to meet the emissions standards. This maybe the reason why the horsepower is higher on the dyno. But now they have been caught they cannot get away with it anymore which leads to a decrease in power to meet the emissions standards. Which now makes the audi s6 slower.
I doubt it. This a6 bitdi might just be remapped, these do about 370-380hp with a stage 1 remap. Yes, Vw/Audi's do put more power out than what they claim originaly, but these biturbo tdi's never put out like 30hp more than whats claimed. The facelift Audi a6 has euro 6 engines, it doesnt have cheating software. The reason for the new S6 to be slow is due to a smaller turbo. Darkside developments made a video about it, they tuned a new S4 tdi with the same engine. They explain it in that video.
At least the US market gets a 2.9 V6 petrol from the RS4/RS5 with 400 PS. It’s crazy how previous generation S6 had a petrol V8 with 450 PS and the current S6 has a 3.0 biTDI with 347 PS ... disregard downsizing that’s outright downgrading. And the price is outrageous for what you get ...
Thx to you max , i bought one too the facelift version 320 pk competition engine but not the competition because i love how the chairs look but imho they suck with comfort haha

The competition term was used in 2015 to describe the most powerful diesel fitted to the A6/A7 line-up, it was also seen as an equipment package (just like S-Line).
Yeah I mean you can flame the new S6 for multiple reasons. But you cant for the fake exhausts. It's a diesel and a diesel can't have back facing exhausts anymore. So whats better. Fake looking pipes or no pipes at all. For me its the fake pipes all day long. I on my side absolutely love the looks of the new A6, i think it looks stunning in the right spec. Everything fully blacked out even with one of the factory rims and red brakes it just looks amazing. But yeah for me the new S6 is the new Competition, since I do miss the old V8 C7 S6 which today is an absolute bang for your buck. ECU remap on a stock C7 S6 gives you nearly RS6 performance.
@@pianova5825 As far as I know because all the emissions and stuff. EU emission things say that disels aren't allowed to blow their gases directy out of the back because they can hit other cars standing behind it. Or something like that. So you can either have fake pipes, or no pipes at all. And for me even tho they are fake, fake pipes look better than no pipes at all. In Europe a powerful diesel is the perfect car for eating the miles up. Them Bitdi's tune very well. Plus perfect for them cold winters in Eastern Europe. 2 1/2 tanks of fuel get me to the UK from Northern Hungary.

7:20 did it just rev up to 5000 rpm lol in a diesel
the b57 can do that too, 840d for example.
It can rev up to 5100 or 5200 rpm.
5200
At the end of the day, with stuck turbos its not worth it to go till the red line in a diesel. This engine delivers stock 600 to 650nm torque between 2000 and 4200 rpm. After 4200 rpm the amount of torque it can deliver drops dramatically.
Find it crazy? Search for the OM605 and OM606 turbodiesel engines... can even rev above 6k rpm
I'm from Romania too,greetings!
Always a nice sight to see another pro-five arms wheels.
It's limited to real 250, I reached 266 on the speedo with my single-turbo 272 HP. I think it would reach 280 without limiter.
I have alsou 272hp i came to 251kmh, my friend have the same minhe is 2015 and his 2017 has different front lights and he told me that he drive 270 or 280kmh.. i need to try that in deutsche autobahn 👋👌
@@balkan5929 you should be able to reach 266 on the tacho like I did, which is probably around 250 real. 270 or 280 tacho is not possible if it has not been unlocked.
@@MrCrrispy you think there is really that much difference? Probably in his is unlocked , guy is mechanic and it has adblue turnd off and maybe some other stuff i dont know but i think its not tuned.. he told my that i need to try my self 😅 i live in germany and i did buy my car here, normaly here is 250 factory limit.. i was surprised when i saw 251 but i try some other time drive more.. why 266 limit thats some od number i think..👋
@@balkan5929 250 is the real/GPS limit where the limiter kicks in, not surprising I got to 266 on screen, tacho is very optimistic. And if he turned off adblue, it's an ecu reprog so it's also probably tuned/unlocked :D

Audi is the best car real, the S-Line, the Quattro allllllll is perfect
and you never have to go to the mechanic kappa
@passion for supercars performance cars Lmao most stupid comment on YT today. Audi is the one developing cars and VW gets their tech handed down.
@passion for supercars performance cars Have you ever sat and drove a Vw and an Audi? I highly doubt it, do you even have a license?
So... according to your theory, Rolls Royce is a high end Bmw and Maybach is a high end Mercedes. Lexus is a high end Toyota.
Do yourself and the rest of the world a pleasure and keep your mouth shut, your theory makes 0 sense and makes everyone lose braincells reading your bullshit.
@@Jousten16 Thats not completely true. Vw and Audi develop them together and hand them out to Skoda and Seat.
@@Jousten16 true. I think VW group gives all the new good stuff to audi first, then its passed down to vw, and eventually skoda?

Love the scoreboard idea 👍
Can you make a comparison video with the other tuned audi a6 bitdi? And like show the dragy times next to it.
has the A6 already received the 23x6 engine update? This destroys the great overall package of the car.
Is the turbo lag when starting off as big as with the new S6?
I love the 3.0TDI with 272 hp. It works so well with the DSG because it offers massive thrust from the lowest rpm.
I owned an a6 with that engine and i really miss it. It’s such a great engine
currently own a 2015 A6 with a 3.0 TDI, it's never boring, such a dream to drive!
Very nice explanation! Thank you!
When are you going to review your new car?
@@ThenameisOskar OK cool thanks
i agree
being from the US, i can only dream of owning a properly fast turbodiesel estate car...sigh
For normal driving diesel's are just so much nicer
Beautiful A6...
Part of the reason for the slower times is the response.. the mapping is stuffed in new Audis...
How in the hell max uploads always video about car i have been thinking few past days??
Bc You are thinking about 5000 cars every day.
I like your videos
At least the US market gets a 2.9 V6 petrol from the RS4/RS5 with 400 PS. It’s crazy how previous generation S6 had a petrol V8 with 450 PS and the current S6 has a 3.0 biTDI with 347 PS ... disregard downsizing that’s outright downgrading. And the price is outrageous for what you get ...
I love this Car🙏🏼

Thx to you max , i bought one too the facelift version 320 pk competition engine but not the competition because i love how the chairs look but imho they suck with comfort haha
I really would like to see a rewiev of The a6 c7 allroad!
Amazing fast practical cars!!! BUT the engine BiTurbo 320 or 326ps competition they break down suddenly. Sad side is that nobody knows what the cause is. If you want a fast family car and good feul economy than this is the car but with risk of engine damage unfortunately….
It would nice, if you could get hands on the new M340d.
As owner of a competition I am happy when I see this video :-)
hello , what is the real consumption 100kmh of this car if you drive normal not fast?
@@Bookgirlfan
Long-term combined is 7,9
It is really nice consumption for such powerful car with 255/R20 quattro car
Trip from Czechia to Croatia 2x 1200km was 7,1
Audi cars have usually offset -2% (so the real consumption is 8-8,1) confirmed by filling tank against amount of kilometers

What I'm surprised about is that the 840d is even slower than the S6 TDI
You mean slower 0.07 seconds? Thats nothing. According to acceleration the 840d is faster. At the end it doesnt matter, 840d is just a regular 8 series and who buys a diesel coupe?

Why is a 3L diesel called competition?
Is it supposed to win the most usable family Hatch competition?
The competition term was used in 2015 to describe the most powerful diesel fitted to the A6/A7 line-up, it was also seen as an equipment package (just like S-Line).
It shows audi‘s most powerful diesel at that time and it wasnt just a regular diesel. Back then it was really special and even today

That's really strange with the S6 comparison, seems like a mistake from Audi or is it the engines limit regarding power?

Could you please test an a8 d4 4.2tdi pre facelift?

Why can’t they have real exhausts anymore?
@@pianova5825 As far as I know because all the emissions and stuff. EU emission things say that disels aren't allowed to blow their gases directy out of the back because they can hit other cars standing behind it. Or something like that.
Thats why since that law (or whatever it is) was put into action all diesels (at least made in the EU, don't know about others) have their exhausts facing downwards. So you can either have fake pipes, or no pipes at all. And for me even tho they are fake, fake pipes look better than no pipes at all.
But overall, to me it doesn't make sense since todays clean diesels put out even less "bad gases" than big normal petrol engines... But thats the world of today for you - doens't make sense, and petrolheads are getting f'd. The day will come when the same will happen to normal petrol engines and big engines will be forbidden. Thats why we should be gracefull that we even get such things like a 3.0 engine...
Admonitor that’s true. I’m glad my 2018 CLS Shooting Brake still has real exhaust tips 🤩 (a V6 Diesel)
I swear they never had this in the UK 🤷♂️
