    Legends both of them. Harold should have really listened to his father more often.

      If you like the plot twist in this try Series 1 Episode 7 of "Lovejoy" called 'The Real Thing' probably find it on TV Channel Drama catch up. Similar con with a painting, but justice is served to the conman.

    Such a shame the BBC wiped the original colour version of this episode. Lovely to see the colour return to it. People forget how expensive it was in 1970 for the BBC to keep colour tapes in their archive. The video cassettes were huge, like large briefcases.

      You see what Peter Jackson did with the old 1914 black and white war footage for 'they shall not grow old'. If I was a millionaire I'd pay to have every steptoe episode upgraded and colourised

    The black and white versions of the original colour episodes were from international sales tapes, sold to broadcasters around the world, who aired Steptoe and Son, but were not broadcasting in colour, such as Australia, New Zealand and the Republic of Ireland broadcasters.

    13:32 - the actor here came very close to "drying up" as it is known in the acting world, where he nearly forgot his lines. These sitcoms were nearly always recorded "as live" with very little chance for retakes. He just managed to recover here thankfully.

    • @MrBradblade
      @MrBradblade 2 года назад +3

      @carly He dried up. Watch it again. He was stumbling across his lines. In fact both Harry H Corbett and Wilfrid brambell also stumbled over their lines in many episodes, especially Wilfrid (effects of severe alcohol drinking affected him a lot especially).
