Penny a point cribbage and 6pence a dozen. I used to play my dad at those rates. £1,154 was well over a quarter of a millon pennies!

I’ve found that I’ve come back to this show more than any other for the nostalgia, and for the amazing acting and writing. Two brilliant actors immortalized as the fictional characters they played.

At the start of the episode, the horse d!es, and the audience is laughing at Harold crying... I fail to see the humor. (Even if it is "canned" laughter, it seems inappropriate.)

I would like to see Wilfred Brambell play brothers with Peter Cushing. I know they are both passed.

Loved the line, you cant expect the Queen to come here with her rent book. The chap giving the old man a tip at the restaurant too. Classic timing. 😅

The acting and writing in Steptoe and son was outstanding. Quite brilliant. It's typically associated with hilarity and laughs, yet this episode is very moving. Harold finally having the apparent oportunity to move on in his life from the old man. Yet when it becomes apparent he isn't the father, Harrys close up scenes, as indeed Wilfs, would move the hardest of souls. There was however a missed opportunity for final laughs re the £500 the old man gave Harold. It was poking out of his pocket in the final scenes. I was waiting for Wilfs brilliant facial change he typically presents, from sorrow to the dirty old man scoul. Albert - Il have my £500 back now your not getting married. Harold - You horrible little shitehawk. 😅

Feel sorry fr wilfrid brambell here. He was hgay in real life but had to act like he had so much revulsion fr the gay antiques dealer. He was such a professional he did his job. These days with all the woke rubbish actors might just walk away or cause trouble fr the tv station!

Watching all the old episodes each day. Simple humour but brilliantly acted and written. Albert's facial expressions are a masterpiece of acting. Harold's accent is comedy gold. When you think most episodes were just the two of them, it's all the more exceptional. Thanks to everyone who made them available online. Glorious fun. 😊

This is arguably the funniest Steptoe and Son episode, which is considerable, mindful of the wealth of outstanding content that was aired. Brilliant writing. Exceptional acting. I always wondered how Brambell felt. He's so convincing in his intense dislike of gays in an acted role, yet its well known he was a nancy boy in reality. I rarely watch mainstream tv today for the nauseating support of blacks and gays. If the BBC aired this now, it would be a case of collective rectum prolapse. Yesterday people laughed freely without supression.Better comedy. Better times.
