Alex is very respectable for this kind of thing. I was sort of thinking about saying something like this but remembered, I have come to expect this from him. Good guy.
How is it bother I got a 2024 trail 125 brand new 6 days ago. Great bike in terms of the overall factory package. Its nice how i roll out of the dealer with a factory skid plate, factory led all around, kickstart, center stand luggage rack all factory. Usually you add this stuff on and when you go to sell the bike thr afyermarlet parts dont help the value cam even maie it harder to sell depending. Its nice to have all that in the factory deal. Really great for exploring and running to the store and back stuff like that. I had a 2008 kawadaki vulcan 1600 and 2000cc in thensame garage at the same time and thdy were heavy and sucked for exploring you never go off the well paved road lest that bitch slide out and ye die. The trail 125 is so light it makes it way nice
Thanks, Alex, great review, and looking cycle. Appeared to be a blue Honda Element in the background when you in the park, That would be a great vehicle for you - pre-Honda CRV
There’s another great road you can try while in the area. It’s known as the Rattler or rt209. Almost no traffic, and very few intersections to worry about. It was closed after Helene, but it looks to be open now. Plus it ends in Hot Springs, where there is a really great cafe, the Smokey Mtn Diner. Arrive hungry.
Glad to hear! I was severely disappointed with a 2015 FZ-09 I owned. The suspension was garbage and the front compressed into corners and the tail was all over the place. I met other riders in my area and they had to shell out $3500 for upgraded suspension that was only slightly better than stock. My Ninja 300 never had any issues so I continued riding that after selling the FZ-09
Cool. This SP version bike is still nowhere to be found (even pre-orders) on the East Coast (Jersey/PA) to purchase and you already have other Yamaha 2025 models readily available for purchase at the same locations.
So, the bike, great looking machine. And based off your review, I would buy it. IF it was my class of bike to ride. The road, meh. I respect the opinion and or the idea. But I live in a curvy road state already. I don't need to travel out of my area to canyon carve. IF I lived in maybe.. Ohio or some place with more grid style flat lands, sure.
@3rdRockRider lol, that's not the hard part. Apparently, they are out there, I decided to take a look. The last time I tried to buy a Yammie, the dealers told me they were unobtanium.
@krashnpa seen a couple of SPs at dealers in CO already. Tempted, but I don't care for this colorway, and if the 2025 XSR900 comes with the new meter and controls and a better colorway than the current Marlboro white/red, I'd prefer its retro looks and longer wheelbase. Hopefully, there'll be stock come Feb/March if the XSR disappoints.
Man i called about 25 dealerships yesterday. Im in pa and i called as far as Florida and NC and ONE dealer an hour from me was accepting a deposit because they’re getting 3 supposably by the end of the month. Its been hard lol
I went and looked at two MT-09's yesterday. One standard and one SP. The standard bike did not have the extra features of the power mode if I remember correctly and definitely did not have cruise control. Can anyone speak to why this is? The standard bike also had an exhaust out the side, which I thought stock came out the bottom of the bike like the SP?
In your case, the standard version probably had the optional Akrapovic Exhaust. As for cruise control, it should have that. Unless, depending on the country, they might have cheaped out a bit
@Lord_Winchester Thanks for the reply. It was a bit of a frustrating screw up from the dealer that was also kind of my fault. The paper next to the bike claimed it was a 2024 MT-09, but it was actually a 2024 MT-07. So I ended up buying an MT-09 SP that they had in stock. None of the salesmen came out to help me go over the bike or anything really, and when I questioned the salesmen about it he said it didn't have cruise control (meaning the base MT-09). So I spent the extra $1700 for the SP thinking the salesmen was right. Anyways, went back to the dealer after I realized what happened and they basically told me it was my fault and I was having buyers remorse lol.
@xx1EagleEye That sounds very much like the American Market to me😂. But interestingly, you said you walked into the shop, with your money and walked out with a new SP. I have ordered mine from the dealer in Germany two weeks ago and hope it will arrive before March.
I had two dealers basically within an hour and fifteen minutes that had them in stock. The place I got it from said they've been waiting a while for one. They acted like they basically just got it in and built, so I must've got lucky.
I think Yamaha is about to give us the clutchless system in 2025 gor to MT 09 . Similar to mountain bicycle shifters . No clutch in the left handle which is much better and the shifters are in the left handle instead of the left leg which is a preferance and yamaha has prefered the left handle position but I have somerging to say regarding the location of the shifters. All riders would prefer the clutchless platform, no doubt about it , yet many tradtional riders would prefer the shifter staying in the bleft leg insted of moving ti the left handle. I think Yamaha can give in the same bike the option shift gears with a left bar shifter or eith the left leg in an interchangeable manner ; Lets the rider wishes to shift gear so he can choose to do it either way on the gly without the need to turn of any of them to ingage the other... It is a more variable approach which will make the new system more pleasing for a wider croud- both traditional riders and non trafitional rider , may be new riders. By the way itvis not a smsll detail it is achuge detail
I could live with changing gears using paddle shift or button shift but No Clutch would drive me crazy! No matter what gear I'm in l start all wheelies with a fan of the clutch, it allows you to quickly get the front wheel high without gaining speed.
Great. Now I have to fight with the wife to get one 😂 In all honesty, the only thing stopping my from buying a 2024 SP is the paint scheme. I own a 2023 matte raven mt09, and I LOVE how it looks. The new SP has all the functionality I want, I but I don’t like the cosmetics
I like the bike. Not the color scheme though :/ I was gonna buy this for my first bike. No one near me within 500 miles had one available. So I opted for a 2024 vulcan s 650 cafe abs instead. I didn't wanna wait.
Could’ve well saved your life with that decision if it was going to be your very first bike. I been riding for a while now and when i tried my buddies mt09 i was extremely shocked 😮
that headlight is ugly. Idk what they were thinking again in Yamaha. They should change the design asap. The previous was much much better looking. This looks very awkward and not agresive at all.
A lot of people will disagree with you on that. But I'm with, I like the "Cyclops look" of the previous headlight more. On the other hand, I prefer the split seat of this model over the single bench of the older version.
can we please just have a normal key. a physical key has never ever f****ed up on me.... pointless upgrades made to cost you more money down the rd....
The paint scheme is tired. Seriously, let the model have its own statement. Boring. Otherwise, the newer 09 seems better than the previous anomaly. Ick. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
I like that you didn't try and keep up with those guys and rode your own ride. Always important to keep safe!
Alex is very respectable for this kind of thing. I was sort of thinking about saying something like this but remembered, I have come to expect this from him. Good guy.
Very fortunate to live a few hours from Tail of the Dragon. I've ridden it many, many times. The new pavement is really nice.
Sweet! SP model for me. Nice video Alex. Cool bike. The dragon looks amazing.
I'm picking up my 2024 Mt 09 SP tomorrow....this video made me more excited

I have tested both just a couple of hours ago ....and YES, is worth the extra money. The SP is just amazing
Thanks, Alex, great review, and looking cycle. Appeared to be a blue Honda Element in the background when you in the park, That would be a great vehicle for you - pre-Honda CRV
MT-09 SP is sightly cheaper than the Duke 990 so yes it's worth it.
6:39 "It is a little small..."
Michael Scott: That's what she said.😂

Good review
Tempted to fly here from Australia.. looks amazing haha
@TFLbike - have a Gen2 MT-09. Is this a worthy upgrade - I want to leave it stock with a tune and not mess with it 😍

100k mile bike? MT09/CB650R/ Tenere 700/ DRZ400SM?
Stunning 3:16

Ohio has a little bit of everything. Just gotta be willing to travel around the state
Dream bike idk if could had 1..super expensive half million here
Nice bike! I wonder how hard it would be to get one?
3 weeks delivery here in the UK as quoted today
About $14k OTD hard.

Anyone have details about the possible R9 with this engine?
not til at the very least 2025
I love it too mate❤

What’s with Yamaha and the blue wheels? And yes that headlight is kinda ug.
Awesome 2:27

Who cares about 2nd gear stock. Exhaust and flash and it'll be mint.

2nd gear is worthless without a tune. Highly neutered from the factory.
After the break-in period: Get a Pro-tune to lose the factory limitations 😎✌️
can we please just have a normal key. a physical key has never ever f****ed up on me.... pointless upgrades made to cost you more money down the rd....
I ran into twoHarley riders at the same gas stop, that could not start their bikes due to key fob batteries. Who needs this crap?
The paint scheme is tired. Seriously, let the model have its own statement. Boring. Otherwise, the newer 09 seems better than the previous anomaly. Ick. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
It’s the flag guy!

Stop talking about the spec sheet. I knew every detail six months ago. FFS just ride it and tell us how it is.
