A waiver for the 11 hour rule is only safe when the government says it’s safe. Not when you want to.
Wish this 13hr driving exemption would become the standard.
Right remember Covid .. they lifted everything
Right. I often wonder what's their motive. It can't be safety. If they're so concerned with safety, why not limit trailer lengths to 48 ft? Their rules and regulations rarely ever favor us drivers.
@18_wheeler97 who the hell wants to drive in the crazy nonstop traffic for that many hours? Not me
@@gailmorra go places other than the East coast and you won’t be stuck in traffic so much. And the great thing is you don’t have to drive the 13 hours if you don’t want to. If you want to pretend you work a regular 9-5 then do it. But don’t get upset at the fact that people wanna work. Every minute I’m away from my wife and kids I wanna work. Any time off I wanna be with them.

We are modern salves for sure. #TRUMP2024
How about a fricken raise thats what we need. A RAISE FOR ALL TRUCK DRIVERS
Exactly. We need more $. Not more hours driving
No way man. You drivetards are already overpaid. Youre causing inflation
I was just offered 39 cents a mile and $10 per hour for on duty not driving. Burger king offered $15 per hour. Pass the popcorn.
Go on indeed and look up jobs in midland/odessa area. Oil fields are doing well.
I bet Burger King would hire you in a second. As for me, I'll stick to comparing wages between Employers I might actually go to work for
$80 day per diem
11 hours at .39 plus $80 is 294.50 a day
1472.50 per week
Burgerking would come out to about 937.50 on that same 55 hours
I still get your point but don’t think you’re going to do better at burgerking
Never enough parking, period in America
13 hour a day driving a truck is dangerous who’s passing these laws !!!’
It's all a money scam
The parking problem could be greatly ameliorated if our entrance and exit ramps were improved to safely and legally allow truck parking. There are times such as working at night when no other options are available. We already use them throughout the nation. So, level out and widen the shoulders on as many ramps outside of large cities as possible so that when we need to park here, we can without the dread of an officer knocking on our door. Legal and level….namely, who wants to sleep in a crooked house! Seriously, I know this would be expensive but it sure is a simpler solution than waiting for decades for beaurocrats to approve building projects. Let’s enhance what we are already using.
This.
Literally a dirt parking lot named rest area does the trick too lol, they making this too complicated with the whole building stuff lol.
most loads offered r below cost (fyi)
Dude, you know how nasty truckers are. Those sides are going to be filled with trash. Nahh, if I was a governor I'd say F truckers too.
Their idea of the need to build a fancy, resort styled rest area merely reflects how fat they live as bureaucrats. Truckers don't need huge landscaped areas, they need a large concrete lot, with trash bins, plumbed bathrooms with sinks and mirrors and soap, and a lots of lights. Throw in an armed security patrol for the truckers who don't carry their own security devices.
I remember when I would go to Montana. I would never had problems finding truck parking. We need more parking in the mid states, too. We don't need state of the art rest areas we only need parking and restrooms.
So now if you physically should only Drive 11 hours, your Company will be pressuring you to drive 13 hours. That is So Wrong.
You chose to drive for that company. You chose to be passive when they pushed an inch. Now you have to deal with them going miles with testing your boundaries.
These companies love having drivers glued to the seat. 13 hrs driving. No way
You suck if you can't handle 13 hour drives stay home and work local😂
Won't bother Mr one bit. Do many days I run out of drive time and have 2 hrs of duty left.
@@bondobilly9369 Me either tired of being 1 hour from home and having to take a 10 hour break
How's this possible with all the companies closing. Must have 5 drivers for every job opening. Something smells fishy😷
No kidding!
All the illegals they have driving for free?
How do they not have enough drivers???
For real, how about 20 unused acres of land.... with some gravel. 3 or 4 porta potties and a couple of dumpsters. 1/2 million bucks AT THE MOST, and then send me the 84 1/2 million dollars that you didn't spend.
Been crying this kind of thing for years now. I would be EASY to increase parking
Can’t lie, you just earned that consulting fee
But if they did that, their buddies can't get that sweet contract to pave dirt.
A whole 35 spots!
Lol....35 is a big number in eyes of federal government
For 80 million .. like who does these numbers area Montana
And the fact that it includes RV parking there still won't be a parking spot available to take a piss or a break.
Extra work no extra pay...welcome to the united states of socialist America my friends! FJB
you haven't noticed that most of truckers , 99.9% ask for more miles to drive, instead asking for more money for driven miles??? are truck drivers that stpd?? how in the hell someone has to drive over 3k miles weekly just to stay alive ?????
no, i'm pretty sure my "fellow" drivers are just dumb. this comment is a great example. tell me, what is socialist about squeezing the working class for every last dime? treating humans like actual machines? it's almost like... capitalist innovation? gee, maybe the mighty capitalist would benefit from treating drivers like pigs to slaughter. keep licking away at that boot.
@@unperuanoenlascarreterasde9964 yes. they really are that stupid. your average driver either is a low intellect burnout or has a different specialty but a broken mind needing total isolation. the former are the loudest bunch.
Correct and illegals take and take from us taxpayers.

So sick of rv’s freeloading on our turf. Then they open the extensions and take up 2 spots 🤮
Theyre tires do require air
It's on private property. A truck can "accidentally" remove their slide out and steps, with no recourse. Just saying.
Montana has many rest areas that they closed down and they have metal post alongside the curbing at all the other rest areas so you can’t park where you really shouldn’t but it would be nice if they opened up the other rest areas they already have even if it’s just for truck parkingthat would be a good start. In many states that are in the same boat. Honestly, many rest areas across the country are just closed down.
L-Arginine is a must for all truck drivers for vaso-dilation to fix high blood pressure and prevent heart attack of the leg
Even corrupted Indiana build 200 parking spots for 30 mln $ . Now you got 35 spots for 95 mln 😂😂😂
What do you mean corrupted Indiana?
So the Mega carriers are gonna finally get their way.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂because they have lease drivers and lease purchase drivers . cheap labor !!!!
I work for a Mega Carrier and make top dollar. What are you on about?
Typical steering wheel holder
Wondering how many of those trucking job increases are do to owner operator going out of business & becoming employees.
longer hours lower pay….😂
Summer in Montana, all gonna be RV parking.
1. We need truck parking where the truck traffic is heavy. Not much truck traffic in Montana. It’s needed in places like Memphis, around Atlanta GA where parking is nonexistent etc.
2. Where is my 2 extra hours of drive time having to fight the chaotic traffic through Baltimore? If they can give an exemption for port traffic, then there is no reason they can’t give to us all unless the government is using the HOS to limit our earning potential. Why limit truckers earnings?
I90 thru Montana sees quite a lot of truck traffic. And that new rest area is in the Bozeman valley, with only 3 relatively small truck stops that are regularly packed full (1 of which recently closed down). Finding truck parking in that area has been a real problem for some time. And of course they won't mention, before that new rest area was open they closed down the existing Bozeman rest area
I’d be happy with Montana keeping ice off their highways. They are the most incompetent in that area, even with their snow plows running.
I deliver in Baltimore three times a week. Yes, the bridge down has added to surrounding traffic, but not nearly as much as I thought it would have. But I make sure I'm not going through the tunnel between 4-6pm. It's a parking lot during those hours 😮
But I-81 is way busier
But driving 13 hrs in one day is unsafe. What’s wrong with these people 😁
I’m a local driver in Baltimore. The reroute around the Key Bridge isn’t that bad. It’s all of the extra traffic on all of the reroutes that’s bad. Rush hour use to be pretty heavy with some usual spots for slowdowns during rush hour. Now, it’s grid lock trying to get past Baltimore. A couple of extra hours per day might be enough to get around the bridge closure.
I-90 between Spokane,WA and Sioux Falls,SD do not need truck parking. There is plenty of the truck parking along that route.
amazing how it’s only important to b safe when the country feels there is no economic emergencies going on.
In Canada we drive 13 hours. Cake
Because you don't have freeways. There is only one freeway in Canada. My nephew drives in Canada.
I drove for 40 years, I always wonder, why REST AREA'S, never had a KFC, buffet, a quick stop store. Where cars park on one side and trucks on the other side. With a travel center. On my route in TX. or Louisiana, I know where I'm parking during the day. You could have a large space up front. It would have made a great TV. AD for KFC.
The store could have water and food, I buy gallon water.
The safes place was the REST AREA, when all trucks had a CB.
I GUARANTEE, THIS WOULD BE A, WIN-WIN, KFC COULD LEASE OUT THEIR SPACE FROM, THE TOWN, GENERATING YEARLY REVENUE and POPULARILY!
PLUS, KFC- HISTORY AND GIFT SHOP.
HAVE KFC, REST AREA, EASY STOPS, map locations, throughout America.
Jamming to the nice outro. Great segment Alex.
I could use those extra 2hrs today. Traffic was so awful I was only able to clear 500 miles in 10 hours. From the GA weigh station on 75 all the way into Kentucky (via I-24) it was a clusterfuck
To hell i strughle to go past 8 hours. How bout every hour a driver w8ts to load the shipper walks out appoligised and hands the driver a 50$
No joke. When I was working in a warehouse I could get a truck unloaded in about 10-15 mins tops. I could unload about 4-5 trucks in the time it takes these places to unload half a truck. Fuckin ridiculous.
I will not drive 13 hrs in any one day. You can fire me!
😂😂My days of driving 24 hours a day long gone. 8-9 hours and prime parking.
U must be broke then.
@@08tundra Or they are not a push over. Why are you so excited about being bent over the table?
I consider my 46 yr trucking career that started in the 60's as the golden age of the business. The way it is now I wouldn't even give it a thought as a career.
The limit should be 8 hours.
No it should be 6 hours
@@pachukoking2963 8 hours drive time is quite workable, 6 isn't enough.
I own a 41’ pusher that gets 7 mpg and needs 120 gallons when low on fuel. I park at truck stops only when there is plenty of room. I was at the Hammond Cabellas and my safety pins were removed from my hitch overnight in a lot full of trucks. I have my friend Remington for unwanted interactions in the coach and depending on the state outside the coach.
I am also an OO.
There hasn’t been a down month since Brandon got in. Every thing has been booming if you read the stats put out by Brandon.
Yeah, there might be 5000 trucking. Jobs that are open. That's because rates are trash and since per mile drivers are quitting, cause the money sucks. Right now and? It's just not worth spending your whole life out on the road. Some weeks you make 800 bucks and you could do that at home. Working a job with a part time job and be able to sleep in your own bed
Columbas Ohio has a big spot they are advertising also.
One area for campers and one area for trucks only . 35 spots is nothing. In a state of 1000 miles of nothing you put up 35 spots. You can’t find parking while looking a thousands of miles of nothing. = stupid people that hate truck drivers
Has anyone else seen that loves is putting in rv parks next to truck stop locations. Harding Montana is the largest I've seen so far.
Those are some gorgeous trucks
I drove Class A CDL with Haz-Mat, Tank, and Doubles for 37 years with no accidents or tickets and retired in 2017. The Government and Transportation are a joke and an embarrassment
Minnesota rest area is adding on 94 west go to ND
What's uo alex
1st reason it's so expensive is land the borders any interstate is expensive.
2:19 business trumps a driver's live.
I AM in NEED of OTR Team Drivers for RLTO SoCal hub FedEX Ground. Wilds have slowed down but I still need drivers... Its slow in certain areas. they have been waiting more on the road at the end hubs. Give and take I guess.. Drive safe y'all!
Seeing all those beautiful trucks....must be what heaven looks like! I can't see how companies can hire when freight availability is so low!!!!??? It must be to replace retirements and turnover issues!?
They need to start clarifying what "truck parking" should be in the transportation industry or be reworded like for CMV parking only! The amount of times people have parked their campers and pickup truck with the tiniest trailer attached to it only to absorb a parking for our fellow drivers! These days people need to know that if you want convenience in their cities they need to open up parking or allow parking in the industrial parks.
If that’s true I hope it doesn’t apply to local drivers
FedEx grounds picking up loads
For 10 million you better be able to get something that parks at least 1000 trucks
Fuck the BS job surge. How about rate surge?
35 spots what a joke
Lets say CONGRATS AND WELCOME TO A DIFFICULT TIME IN TRUCKING!!!!😂
I got tired of driving 11 hours and went local after one year OTR. Good luck with that 13 drivers.
Funny how HOS are there for safety, but when somebody's pockets are affected then can make exceptions! I guess safety is not really the priority! 😂
It's a great idea for that rest area to expand thier facilities just wish they could make it exclusive for big rigs, and part of and next to, for SUVs 4 wheelers and camper's. A minimum fee of $10 for 24 hrs would be great to have clean facilities security and parking enforcement.
Those 2 hours are going to be the extra time you sit in traffic because of the bridge being down traffic is slow around the bmore area
Other companies are picking up the freight left behind from closing companies and need to hire drivers to move the freight
Whole lot of complaining in the comments. No ones forcing you to do this job.
24,000 jobs lost in fed ex and ups and who knows how many contractors for usps this spring.....m
Sources are telling me that they are getting rid of the 14 hr day for HOS.
I know a few people who switched companies. The problem they are having is these companies are expecting a big upswing in the market and are trying to prepare. The bad is there is not enough loads and so they are sitting. Their old jobs were getting them 3,000 miles per week but their new company is only getting them 1500-2300 miles per week. They are having to threaten their dispatchers of quitting to get extra miles. The new companies are having to take unfavorable loads to keep the drivers moving which keeps rates down. I see there are high load rejection, flat on volume, and increase in capacity. Not good.
No one wants to drive for 13 fuckn hrs a day!!
Congratulations on the extra two hours of work guys. I hope you’re paid by the hour.
about the increase in trucking jobs.... were they filled? and is there a State by State breakdown of which States had more...or less jobs
The US Government is a total Joke, and the Trucking industry is a total Joke as well Im embarrassed to be a US citizen
Hi Alex
they are just filling turn over. too many no exp drivers are having a hard time getting employed. more megas are reqn exp only
Every single driver started by not having experience. You were a new born before the age you have now and you were not born with any kind of experience.
frank you are retarded. your comment must be for someone else
Where is this legal now?
All states?
There’s plenty of parking 🅿️ for RV’s and that’s whack cuz with these gas ⛽️ prices who’s gonna drive across the country now a days besides Truck drivers 🤷♂️😑☀️🇺🇸✌️I don’t know maybe I’m wrong but I’m biased too! ❤Keep it up Brothers thanks 🙏 Alex you Rock Buddy
Strike no waiver
I would also say that with the camper parking it would not necessarily mean tourists out West there's a lot of oil and gas workers that use campers. Also who knows you could by chance run into Clarence Thomas out here he's an avid RVer 👍
All the truck parking that they have created is the same size parking lot. They just made angle parking two ways. Now, us with doubles can't get in or out, let alone park.
Adding drive time because it’s all about SAFETY❗️😂😂😂
13 hrs a day hell yeah!
OF COURSE THERE IS A LOT OF DRIVING JOB positions, it called clean up, fire the 80 cents driver and get a new one for 60 cents, little by little exchanging for how it was before because high prices is not for ever, about FMCSA allowing 2 more hours, go ahead and do it until get a violation for driving over 11 hours, it won't worth it just stays on the normal hours and out trouble because when freight isn't moving more the load pay
are they going to up the cpm rate or what? ... FUCK THAT!... UP THE CMP RATE!
lol yeah good luck at 9 hours I’m already tired looking for a place to park
There is so many lies in trucking and free labor it’s crazy especially as a company driver. Company driver literally not making money and it’s so funny how they accept it and quiet about it it’s crazy.
Truth.
Yeah, it’s just their way of twisting it around to make it sound better than it is, I whole bunch of jobs were lost from trucking companies going under, including a lot of small ones / operator stuff plus in the spring there’s always an increase on jobs and that’s part of the stuff that’s picking up now again
Because more owner operators are calling it quits all part of the paln to wipe out small business
Truth, government wants to employ everyone to their desire. Corporations are crushing guys that want to just mind their own shit, have a small business that they love but government says no more little guy..
If your rules are how you want to run the country. Those same FN rules should work in times of crisis. Correct?
Montana have more than enough parkings and they are do more. Respect to state
As much as I’m for working that job, we REALLY need to address public safety and the effect of that many hours on the road for both the health of the drivers AND the public when they pass out (literally) from fatigue.
We are in an age where they can even make the numbers lie.
Is there still a truck driver shortage?
2 hrs will help alot and help us alot
Every time they do a waiver play suppress the rates
I really don't care for new rest area.
Just have truck stops extended the lot or new truck stops build bigger lot.
And pretty clean lot lizards man! 😂
why on every highway there's a million clover leaf exits 🍀...if evey one had a lot in each circle...there would be more than enough parking for a very small cost.
So basically no one will be able to take advantage. Is there even a bump to the 14hr limit?
So. An extra two hours on crappy infrustructure. You're going to see more wrecks. Its hard enough now driving eleven hours on crappy roads. I guess the people at fmsca all take the train to work.
Its not going to happen for me or my drivers. And good luck with your automated trucks.
When I drove 11 hours was all I needed 650 miles is a long day
I do believe that it's just for those drivers that are over there. The bridge was taken down at no Baltimore bridge. I'm sorry. I'm not learning Baltimore. The Baltimore bridge that was taken down over there. That's that's the one on the 495 I think that's what they're allowing those drivers to do not all drivers all over the United States.
The rest can go to a campground period
I was making.40 a mile back in 2000’s .39 a mile still 24 years later what a slap in the face should be 1.25 miles or 32 - 35 an hour with benefits we all work 40 hours a week. cents is construction pay we are not working that way as drivers I think that’s below minimum wage
