For those wondering about the dead body, the picture was taken from an exploitation documentary called "Death files" which is just video recordings of dead bodies. The man in the game over screen was an unfortunate casualty of the Bosnian war.
More specifically, New Death Files III, from what I read. The game AND Nerd’s video was covered by a RUclipsr named Nexpo, who dove deep into the secrets behind the game’s infamous endscreen.

The creator of this game, Yoshihisa Kurosawa, after several years of "hiding" finally revealed about Hong Kong 97, stating that the intention was to make the game horrible purposely. If I'm not mistaken, according to Wikipedia, since Kurosawa did not have programming skills, he got an Enix employee to help him for two days. LOL

What also happened in 1997 was the Pokémon Shock incident that occurred in Japan back in December 16th, 1997. Namely the incident was about an episode called “Electric Soldier Porygon” that had a scene with bright red and blue flashing lights to simulate an explosion and it caused 685 people across Japan to go to the hospital due to epileptic seizures.

That dead guy could be the boxer Leszek Blayznski, who committed suicide on August 6th, 1992. The dates on the photo, and of the boxer's death are too coincidental to be an accident. Basically, Leszek committed suicide, and someone was there at 5:37 PM to capture the picture. Perhaps it was a police picture captured at the scene of the incident, but it's still so fascinating. Leszek had not been having a good string of luck, as he was only ever able to earn bronze medals as an Olympic boxer, so perhaps that could be the reason he committed suicide. So weird, but fascinating.

For those wondering about the dead body, the picture was taken from an exploitation documentary called "Death files" which is just video recordings of dead bodies.
The man in the game over screen was an unfortunate casualty of the Bosnian war.
More specifically, New Death Files III, from what I read. The game AND Nerd’s video was covered by a RUclipsr named Nexpo, who dove deep into the secrets behind the game’s infamous endscreen.
