- Action 52 was created by Active Enterprises released in 1991 for the NES and a 1993 port for the sega Genesis. Action 52 was a compilation of games mostly filler and many with similar objectives. Plenty of duplicate titles with very minor differences, the game itself was incredibly broken with many glitches leaving quite a few of the titles unplayable. The main title of the cart being Cheetah men which was intended to feature a possible fresh franchise series that never ended up taking off despite some merchandise and comic books being made. Cheetah men itself was very poorly constructed and contained numerous glitch's such as getting stuck in mid jump on top of poor level design. Plenty of the games on the cart were space shooter's and some games had other issues such as never ending, not being able to win, game freezes, misleading game titles, and numerous other issues which resulted in it's poor reviews. @@JGT-yd2wx I’m old enough to have, but I don’t think I’ve seen one in person, my friends who had NESes had the classic model, I grew up on Sega consoles.
I have a ton of Sega Saturn gems. Burning Rangers, all the Panzer Dragoons (yes including Saga). Got a nearly complete Genesis collection. My nostalgia isn’t Nintendo’s stuff before the N64 because Sega cut support to the Saturn in the States. It’s not EXACTLY an age thing for me, I grew up in a pretty rough area and the Genesis was more affordable than the SNES so it wasn’t until I moved in with my grandparents in the suburbs that I started seeing SNES games. I am just a few years too young to have grown up on NES, but a lot of people still had their models when they bought their SNESes because it didn’t have backwards compatibility and they all had these huge NES libraries. You’ve got to be at least 40 to have grown up on NES, so I’ll take still being in my prime over having memories of top loading NES models. Hahahaha.

This is the most rewatchable AVGN episode, within a series that is filled with 100s of very rewatchable episodes. I can't count how many times I've marvelled at the jokes, creativity and pacing of Action 52. Platinum grade comedy by James.

The engine for the menu of the multicart this is based off of actually also started on game number 5. The creator of Action 52 just stole the code from another 52-game multicart.

that is indeed a fact of the fun persuasion. It's interesting to see that game developers were as shady back then as they are now. Actually, chances are it's more the publishers fault than the designers. The publishers probably came to a few game companies and asked them to whip up 100 games between them. Two weeks later they probably came back and told them that they had to be done in an hour, no matter what. So Ithe developers probably rounded up everything they had, NONE of it finished and it was published as is. As unfinished, rushed garbage. Either that or everyone involved really fucking sucked at their jobs. Could be either scenario.

I fell asleep all throughout 2011, 2012, and 2013 watching AVGN. Mainly this episode, I watched it well over a hundred times.
I think the worst part of this is if this were released today, people would forgive it easier because "Oh, it's gonna be fixed with patches anyway".
Or "the modders will fix it."
...if a game is unfixable, like this one, which is rotten at the core, then I get it.
But something like Pokemon S&V (which was fixed), which was just glitchy, then that's fixable.

I just realized that Ooze really was the developers' "personal recommendation" because there was a contest for who could get to the last level, but that nobody could actually win because the game was so buggy.

Lily Orchard you can’t really expect ANY online store to have only good games. Steam is hands down the best place to download pc games from, because the prices are good, there’s sales and stuff all the time, and they have a great refund policy. If you are a pc gamer and you “loathe” steam, you are in a very small minority. P.S. I know this comment was 5 years ago, but it had to be said. It’s not my fault no one else has spoken up.
