Honestly I love this episode, with the Earthbound video it's easy to interpret James' opinion as a herd mentality to copy what others feel or think about it, but admitting fairly bluntly that he doesn't really like Majora's Mask shows that his opinions for both this and Earthbound are genuine. Not to mention the overall writing just feels really pure - playing a game that's frustrating for hours on end and treating it like an effort more than casually playing a game. Video games are fun but sometimes a hard one can get the better of you and can challenge your mental capacity and will to not give up.

I remember being so excited when I seen a notification about this video being released. I'm a HUGE AVGN fan and Zelda fan! So this video hit everywhere it NEEDED to for me!
I can relate to this guy’s feelings about this game myself. Also the crying Goron was exactly what this guy’s reaction was at that point in his review. Just pointing that out for humor.
This one was pretty weak. It didn't help it was full of mistakes and more or less just demonstrated James doesn't really grasp the games he plays very well. He also completely ignored a pretty important part of the gameplay which is the masks that don't transform you...IE the Captain Keeta race was difficult for him because he didn't have the bunny ears. It's a bad review when you don't even touch on a large component of the game.
Majora's Mask was the first game where I followed a strategy guide religiously just to get through the game. Over time, I didn't use it as much, and then it got to the point where I didn't need it at all. But I will say, the 3DS version of the game is amazing and it fixes loads of things from the 64 version. The clock is also easier to follow and you can choose specific times to jump to, but only going forward and not back. But it does teach you on how to deal with time and schedule things at specific times. The whole game is a cool idea. It just takes a good bit of time to get used to it.
Imagine this: it's the new year everyone is cheering for joy. Suddenly everyone's cheer of joy turns into screams of fear. You look up and realise that the moon is crashing down. As you look at what would be the last thing you would see you, hear the AVGN theme and then, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Just to point out, Termina is an alternate dimension/universe which is connected via the Lost Woods, which is why it still has some similarity in the inhabitants to Hyrule
I love this. I know, generic, but this and OoT are generally my favorite older games to play. But as far as the hookshot, you shoot the tree on the turtle because it grabs onto wood. I believe this was a creative outlet for the game director to grieve. Because if I remember at the time of this games release he lost his wife and was in mourning. I think you can find the story online but that’s why this game is so dark and depressing and emotionally connected.

Zachary Collins The others are masterpieces in their own right, but for the unique experience, gameplay mechanic, and overall mood, I give Majora’s Mask a perfect 10. As frustrating as this game could be, I think its positives outweigh the negatives, and sometimes we really need to think on life with this attitude. Every now and then I dwell on the Astral Observatory theme, the intricacies of the Stone Temple in particular, and the somber love story, just to name a few moments, and I can’t help but think, “That’s still one of the best damn games I’ve ever played.”
The reason the ice doesn't spawn is that there needs to be enough room for it. The center of the ice block is wherever the arrow makes contact with the water. If you shoot to close to the water's edge, there's not enough room. As for the current, your're never supposed to swim against it.
@@BalboaBaggins Although in this case, nobody can really truly fault them for there being such issues because of just how tight of a crunch they had for the game. Majora's Mask is the only Zelda game with a Metroid-like saving system. You save with the song of time or the owls (this means, backtracking).
@@saricubra2867 And the owls are suspend saves, like in a roguelike game. Unless you're playing the 3DS version, in which the song of time doesn't save the game anymore, but the owls are permanent saves now. (And there's more statues scattered around that don't let you fast travel to them, but do let you save at them. Again, permanent saves.)
@@ethanedwards3357 Honestly, i don't care if there are more statues, Majora's Mask has arguably the shortest traveling time in any 3D Zelda game or for many Zelda games in general.

People often say AVGN's best episodes are behind it, but come on. James is still just killing it.
I've never seen anyone say that in the many years I've been watching.
Where's the title song?
I honestly feel this is a weaker one than usual.
He has gotten less funny, but not all entertainment is comedy
Majora's Mask was the first game where I followed a strategy guide religiously just to get through the game. Over time, I didn't use it as much, and then it got to the point where I didn't need it at all. But I will say, the 3DS version of the game is amazing and it fixes loads of things from the 64 version. The clock is also easier to follow and you can choose specific times to jump to, but only going forward and not back. But it does teach you on how to deal with time and schedule things at specific times. The whole game is a cool idea. It just takes a good bit of time to get used to it.
The moon looks like it's ready to say *"AAAAASS!"* at any moment.
That would've been awesome.
That's how it would've ended the world
Imagine this: it's the new year everyone is cheering for joy. Suddenly everyone's cheer of joy turns into screams of fear. You look up and realise that the moon is crashing down. As you look at what would be the last thing you would see you, hear the AVGN theme and then, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
The world would end with the moon crashing like in Top Gun, then "ASS! FUCK!"
I for one would accept the world ending by avgn angry face moon crashing onto earth.
