maddogkilla1 The joke is that the developers of the game ran out of time to work on the game so they use the ocarina to reset time and try again, like you do in the game.
I rather enjoy the fact that Majora doesn't get a lot of screen time as a villain. You get a sense of its presence by the destruction and pain it causes in the whole world. The fact that it's not always around taunting Link as Gannon did, makes it seem like Majora is so powerful that it doesn't even consider link a threat. In fact, MM doesn't even treat Link as a "hero" like OoT did. Hands down my favorite Zelda title.
Majora is a far better villain than Ganon ever expected to be. The only reason he was defeated was because a random kid form a paralel dimension got a magic ocarina that could traverse time. Termina was completely doomed if not for that incredibly unpredictable fact that was probably orchestrated by some higher deity.
jmiquelmb Exactly how I feel. Hyrule felt so cliché as a story written by destiny, whereas Termina and its residents had accepted that their end had come with no hero to save them. Even Cremia was to give Romani some of the potent milk to keep her sedated through her untimely death. Majora didn't want to rule the world like Ganon, Majora just wanted to see it end in flames. A much darker, more evil entity overall.
Kinda funny how Fierce Deity and Majora are depicted as rivals but, when you put on the mask, the boss fight becomes a one-sided curbstomp. Perhaps the introduction of Link's sword abilities put the Fierce Deity over the top. :P
Dead Like Disco its also kinda ironic that majoras ,,orgin" also was a reason he failed. Without The Happy Mask Salesman Majora also would have succed. Dam, majora has some Bad luck
I never realised its his soul that goes into the deku scrub mask until quite recently... Just another addition to the list making up how messed up majoras mask is
The Romani Ranch alien shooting thing, I surely can't be the only one who just sat on the crate by the barn and just sniped at any ghosts who got near.
Another thing nobody seems to mention about Majora's Mask is that it doesn't contain the Master Sword, Triforce, Princess Zelda or Ganon/Ganondorf, which all appear in almost every other game in the series.
Well, there's the memory of Link that teaches you the song of time and the moon resembles Ganondorf's face; other than that, is almost like is not even the same world as OoT...
15:20 This melancholic and dark musical piece when you get 6 hours left plus the rumbling sfx are extremely emotionnally effective all the more when you are a child. This is the kind of sinister setting that stay in your head for the rest of your life but so inspiring for an artist! You most feel more alive than ever when you know that your life and the world is going to end very soon!
Also... is Kafei free from the curse? The original cutscene avoids showing him, I've always implied they just don't care because the power of love and stuff
small point: you mention that the bunny hood sidequest is a slog. But I think it's actually so brilliant. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Bremen mask is the only one that actually slows you down. And the whole setup, the guy who doesn't give a shit about the end of the world except for seeing his cuccoos grow, is designed to make you spend much more time doing what amounts to nothing than you would have otherwise. You're forced to take a minute with no good scenery, repetitive music, etc etc, and it's all this slow burn of nihilism. But the reward is the exact opposite: double speed all the time. A lot of the mask quests are like this. Garo: you gain entry to this club of honorable warriors by getting a mask worn by dishonorable fucker-thieves. Stone mask: you get the ability to hide from everyone by helping a guy who just wants to be seen for a change. etc etc These "ironic" quest set-ups cut right to the heart of MM. It's the most self-aware Zelda, the most compact, the most emotionally relevant.
They're not supposed to be "ironic", they're supposed to be healing. You're turning their problems into masks, freeing them from the burden and using it to your advantage.
What a great look at things. It's people like you that remind me I should really look at the bigger picture when playing games, rather than just partaking solely in the mechanics of a game (that's probably hyperbole on my end, but essentially I've always payed attention to gameplay more than anything else).
To be fair, the Bremen Mask is really fun to march around in. Just go into the overworld and march with it for a bit. Entertainment. Also... that Dance Mask is fun to just pull out... and... DANCE!
Basically Happy Mask Saleman = Miyamoto Three day timeline = The developer deadline The moon = wrath of Miyamotos table flipping The NPCs = devs struggling to make the game Skullkid = the player
The last 6 hours were the most impactful experience of gaming in my whole life That was age 11 and still reigns true to this day Majora's Mask will always be my favorite game
Don't forget you have to sacrifice the title deed at one point so that some guy can use it for toilet paper to get a piece of heart. Good thing you can reset time.
Well lol, you can also use the letter to Kafei's mom to give to him. Such heartfelt words, such an emotional message... and now they are just toilet paper!
Majora's Mask has remained not only my favorite Zelda game, but my favorite game of all time. The atmosphere that this game builds, the people of Termina, the content packed away in the game. It's all so satisfying.
luigimario1991 I mean, I wish Nintendo would have taken inspiration from Majora's Mask to create Breath of the Wild. They have not, in my view. I believe they themselves don't understand how brilliant MM is.
"The game doesn't spell it out for you where you can freeze the water" >Tells us EXACTLY how the game spells it out for you where you can freeze the water. Bruh
It also removes the freedom to explore with the ice arrows. For example, with enough magic and arrows, you can deku hop across ice blocks to reach the outside of the great bay temple in the original.
@@rebekah4761 Can you really? I never realized that the load zone was only under the water, I thought it was just a huge wall that covered the entire space.
Kinda wish Nintendo would work with this concept of darkness and death more often instead of worrying about censorship.. I dunno dealing with death just makes the whole feeling more enjoyable and tense and once everything is done and good it really feels like an accomplishments because the characters you've grown to love are finally free from what would have been certain death.
@Pokémon & FF fan Sure no one likes unnecessary edginess. That's what I didn't really like about TP. And yes OoT does give off that sense of urgency. I would say they also keep that motif of death and memory in there also. I think OoT could have done just a little bit more to emphasize that on a nuanced fashion like MM. I think where MM shines is that it is legitimately a weird wild adventure of a game. I think it helps that the antagonist isn't so much a person as much as it is an entity. And it pervades the world of termina in weird and wild ways. The game truly embraces it's eerie atmosphere and weird outlook through out the said journey. It's confident in what it is and it shows. The more serious motif's that the game shows are just a result of that said confidence. I hope that for BOTW 2 they are able to actually convey dark themes without being cringey. Because they can do it, and I hope they take notes on what they did right with MM.
@Pokémon & FF fan my apologies but I do think grounded fantasy is pretty edgy just for the hell of it. But I get if you didn't feel that way. TP just wasn't for me, and it fell short in a lot of places IMO
I know I'm a year late to this video, but I had to chime in with a comment. The 'Final Hours' track, which is the name of the track that you hear as the timer appears on the third day, is what I would describe as one of the most perfect examples of the term "hauntingly beautiful".
You'd probably love the thief series then, thief 1 adn 2 had such hauntingly spooky tracks that were somehow also hypnotically meditating and lulling. i would also recommend the games as well, i find thief adn thief 2 (on steam even) to be the best gaming experience ive ever had. do use tafferpatcher for modernizing it and fixing bugs that might appear on newer systems.
play this song when you find yourself in a stressful situation. i did that one time when i was so nervous because i had only a few hours to do something that makes me feel sad/anxious. i mean, this song is so powerful - while i was feeling relaxed, i still felt a bittersweet feeling of anxiety
Thanks for pointing out the music in the final 6 hours. I remember it being very gripping. It's a perfect example of how much music, more so than graphics most of the time, enable more complete game immersion.
Anyone who's played indie game demos (or made games for that matter) and has experienced a game with no music and sound effects (or totally unfitting ones) really starts to realize how much audio influences your enjoyment of a game.
I liked how even tho you saved everyone they're still suffering, like the song of healing can't heal everyone, you can't stop their pain well you can but there's not enough time, you can't heal everyone but you can ease it, but stopping the moon you let them live longer so they inevitably heal by themselves
Whether you're a fan of the 64 or the 3DS version, this game was a masterpiece, maybe, just maybe, even surpassing it's predecessor in some aspects. It's a dark and dreadful experience, and yet at the exact same time, is one of the most fulfilling and uplifting games in history. It's a game that truly reaches the highest highs and the lowest lows, and it really does serve as a paragon to aspire to in game design, story telling, and world building.
@@boobalooba5786 people just like to say oot was all that because of nostalgia, of course it's a great game and it's a majestic experience that took the scenario to the next level! But had it's problems, and some are just poor game design
@@gkellz922retard logic. The owl statues quick save the game in the original. How does this remotely remove the sense of urgency at all. And let’s just ignore the song of double time improvements, or the second/touch screen integration, or the improved bomber's notebook. Stop being picky. Bosses were improved also, as well as Zora swimming controlling better in tighter confined spaces.
41:30 I'm going to clarify this once and for all about OoT and Majora's Mask's sword combat systems because it's something that a lot of people completely misunderstand. Lots of people say there's no thought to it or that it's boring or badly designed. If you're just waiting around for an opening, then you're doing it wrong. The game is all about checks and balances. You can play it safe and keep your distance and wait until the enemy attacks you, which eventually gives an opening to attack. However, if you get closer to the enemies this causes them to attack more frequently and use a greater variety of attacks, which gives you more openings to attack. Try this out for yourself with the wolves. Keep your distance and wait for them to come to you. You'll see that they hang back and run around then attack you every so often. When they do attack, you're able to hit them from the front, and hitting their tail is difficult. Meaning, you have the slow boring combat everyone complains about. Now try walking right up in front of them (without raising your shield) and you'll see that this causes them to attack almost immediately. Since you're so close you're more likely to get hit so you have to roll or backflip out of the way. But if you do it right you can get behind them and hit their tail and do lots of damage. They also don't block your attacks as much when you stay near them. Similarly, if you keep your shield up the whole time, enemies know this and they don't attack as much. But if you keep your shield down, they attack more frequently, giving you more openings to counterattack and take them out quickly. It is like this with almost all enemies in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, especially the smarter ones like stalfos. In other words, you can play it safe but the trade off is it takes longer and isn't as exciting. Or you can play it risky and get close, but the trade off is you do more damage faster and the combat is more dynamic. It's actually a clever system because it gives you the chance to back off or retreat if you need to, and also allows less skilled players to still progress. Another perfect example of this is in the fight with Ganondorf at the end of OoT where he throws the spell at you and you have to hit it back at him with your sword. If you're too far away, he has no problem deflecting it back at you and can keep it up indefinitely. So you have to get closer in order to hit him with it--but getting close also gives you less time to react and is more dangerous. The entire combat system is balanced around this design philosophy and when you understand that, it will change how you experience game. Low risk = low reward.
"If you're just waiting around for an opening, then you're doing it wrong." No. You're doing exactly what is necessary to pull through the game without any kind of problems. The only problem may be not having fun but that's where the game should be criticized and not the player.
@@Spriteanimator1 Wrong. It is not "necessary", that is your choice. You have health potions, you have fairies. When you're low on health, hearts drop more often from enemies and grass. YOU are the one choosing not to take risks, you're the one choosing to not experiment and try different strategies to find the one that works best. You SHOULD be criticized because you're using the same one strategy of "just waiting around for an opening" on all enemies and expecting it to work equally well, and then blaming the game when it doesn't. Meanwhile everyone else has it figured out and are just shaking their head. Example A: Wolfos. If you try to waiting for an opening with a wolfos, you'll be waiting all day and do minimal damage each attack. If you get close and get it to do its double swipe attack and dodge it, it spins around and reveals its tail and you can take it out in one hit. Proof: ruclips.net/video/wjJbqa63mDw/видео.html&ab_channel=ZeldaIGN Example B: Stalfos. This guy takes out two of them in 17 seconds with only 3 hearts and takes no damage: ruclips.net/video/PGAz1C4D480/видео.html&ab_channel=SoCasualGaming Notice what he's doing against the stalfos? He's moving around, he's rolling, he's using the spin attack, and he's not even z-targeting. Notice how much more frequently the stalfos are attacking instead of keeping their shield up the whole time. Of course, playing like that requires that pesky little thing called skill...
@@JingIeFett The problem is that there is no real consequence for fighting the way I described. It is incredibly easy and that is what people are mostly criticizing. If a game wants to deliver good combat it has to give reasons to the player to flesh out the combat mechanics and the old Zeldas don't deliver. It's not that we don't understand what you're trying to explain, we just don't feel invited by the game to do it that. There are many games out there (especially tons of Beat 'em ups) with similar problems.
@@Spriteanimator1 There is a consequence: it's less fun, and takes more time (plus time is critical in Majora's Mask). The game gives you multiple choices for how to play. You're the one choosing to play that way. If you don't like it, the onus is on you to try a different strategy that you find more enjoyable. You can choose to let all the abilities and items the game gives you go to waste by not using them but they're there for a reason.
Shame you weren't able to play the original for the Great Bay Temple. The one change in the 3D version I take the most issue with, is the change to ice arrows. In the original, ice arrows can be shot just about anywhere there's water - no sparkles to limit you. I'm always a fan of design that alters the world around you, but the change in the 3DS version felt a lot like hookshot points, specifically guiding you to play the way it wants you to. Edit: Also surprised you didn't mention the butler at the end. Because of the implications, that was quite possibly one of the most heart wrenching moments in any game let alone Zelda.
The only place you can create ice platforms freely on the 3DS remake is on Gyorg's room for some unexplained reason. I say it because there's a Stray Fairy you can get earlier in Stone Tower with the help of an ice platform, which is impossible on the 3DS
Cloudycanine On the room where you get the map, while the Temple is straight, it's filled with water, and underwater is a sun switch right under the bridge. Create an ice platform from the side on the surface and fire the light arrow to activate it. At this point I can't recall if the chest that spawns is upside down or straight tho. Since this sun switch in question is right below the bridge, there's no way to toggle it until you reverse Stone Tower.
"I would much rather stop a kid from exploring Termina Field than stop a known criminal from stealing from a poor old granny because fuck grannies honestly"
In the final hours he's not trying to stop him, he's just trying to ask if Link knows whats going on with the carnival, and I'm pretty sure he encourages Link to run at the end.
It's quite unsettling that Link, only a child, must confront and manage emotions that even many adults struggle to handle. This aspect adds to the darker atmosphere of Majora's Mask.
it's useless because you can't get the Gorman Mask until you get the Romani Mask...which you can only get if you ride on Cremia's carriage for the first time i guess you could say the Gorman Mask helps you get that "hug" lol
i think my 3rd time playing the game i did that and it was just hilarious to me, i loved it so much with how quickly and wildly they changed by taking it on and off.
@@oak7741 Side quests are the only thing done better that ocarina. Pretty much everything else is a downgrade I like MM to, but the side quests are great while everything else is poorly made
I felt Majora's Mask as a villain was actually much better than you gave it credit for. Most of the atrocities committed in Termina were done by the Skull Kid/Majora's Mask. Kafei was cursed by skull kid, a witch was injured by him, the pirates were compelled by him to venture into dangerous murky water. You run into a lot of what Skull kid has done and how it has affected Termina. I always feel when I get to the top of the clock tower when I am about to summon the giants that I am facing the literal cause of all the terror in Termina. In the beginning it was just an imp with a mask; at the end you have seen what this imp has done and how menacing he is therefore.
The ultimate cause of terror and grief for all of Termina should probably be less of a pushover, especially when wearing the Fierce Deity Mask. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah much more menacing than... well what ganons been given tbh, as much as i love Ganon hes got less work cut out for him as an Evil Villain than even Bowser, Bowser normally outright makes himself an enemy to Mario from the Start of his games normally. I can get the story structure and enjoy it, but OOT was just... a sadder Hyrule, a more corrupted Hyrule, more Monsters in Hyrule, the people feel like they've lost hope but they also fled to Kakiriko Village just... a short walk away from a zombie infested and burned town. i get the map is small but it didnt really feel that impactful other than losing the Castle and market, for... whats essentially the same market in the future. Majoras Mask actions and curses felt fuckin horrifying by comparison, the curse on you at the start, passing by the body of the poor sap he probably drained to curse you with, how helpless you are with it, and yet even after the mask salesman cleanses you of this bizarre condition with a yet even more bizarre method, it doenst ease up the questions and meaning behind it, the Gorons mask, Zoras Mask, both didnt make me go "YIPPIE I GET A NEW MASK" it was more sullen and sad to see them go, less so the Goron and his happy ending cause thats a more so good end but the Zora dies failing to complete his quest, hopeless and giving into despair. Kafei is just like you too, cursed with no cure, not even the good ending cures him of this new body... i can only assume he had the height and posture of a lady killer and now ashamed of what became of him. Skull kids actions really hit the mark on a lot of what some enemies tried in previous zeldas, affecting the world but actually being able to interact with the people of all kinds and backgrounds, like the sharp brothers to this random farm chick, to this Goron trying to get a room, and their problems... really helps you sympathize with them. not jsut that you can see that the world even without interacting wtih them is pretty steeped in that depressing solemn miserable feeling despite the bright adventure of a hero and the action. Actually imagine such a magical creature for no reason fucking with you, taking your pet and coming back because he decided he didnt like the pet, cursing you into some other race/form and then what? you get cleansed sure... but what if he can do that again? he really had such great displays of power that stuck with me. Vaati was pretty similar imo, actually getting to show off his prowess throughout the game made him more threatening a foe, OOT does have ganon overtake the town and his private floating castle over lava, he blasts you when youre a kid, but he never displayed something like petrifying the princess, winning a tournament, cursing the hero out of spite or to hinder him, etc. im hearing some lore now in BOTW adn the new lore Nintendo is shoving on everyone because too many idiots tried making sense out of an already nonsensical timeline that didnt exist... adn its now... that Ganon is the evil everywhere... all the time... in all the places... but even this kinda just... trivializes it for me. feels like a rip off of Satan but Satan would have such a grasp and minions to do such work in all the time, places, etc. As for Ganon, idk, i think i'd prefer it more Middle Earth's style like Melkour corrupting the elves, early man, making his own demons and dragons through his corrupting power and having suhc power because he was the strongest of the original high Angels before the beginning of this world... kinda scale... again like Satan but the power seems to work that way and there's credit for such amazing amounts of power... idk what Ganon did in BOTW that really warrants such power, and in other Zelda games hes the Tyrant of evil, King of Evil, etc, JUST BECAUSE HES THE BAD GUY, or touched the triforce of power... it feels... unearned, just granted because hes a favorite villain, versus earning that power or showing how powerful he was with it.
21:03 For me, this was actually one of the most memorable parts of the game. It was my first playthrough of the 3 day cycle and I was mostly just running around without much aim. I came across the ranch after getting the bremin mask. It was during the final hours, so that amazing song was playing the whole time, with the sky a blood red. There I was leading around a bunch of chicks behind me. It was a perfect moment in time.
I love every single retrospect when it comes to this game. Edit: The Gorman mask was supposed to be used while you helped Roman's sister deliver milk to Clock Town. It makes them too sad to attack, due to the fact that it reminds them of their brother. Just thought I'd throw that in there
Only problem is you can only get that mask after you completely beat the Cremia quest. So basically it's only useful if you wanna try to get the cutscene where you motorboat Cremia.
@@StormSnakeMG I was on a flight playing on my ds trying to 100% the game when that scene showed up, and the passenger sitting next to me got a bloody nose
41:50 - I don't claim to know that this is the case, but I always interpreted Link's interesting jumping animations in MM to be a reflection of the fact that he is a more experienced adventurer (and perhaps acrobat) because he has Ocarina of Time under his belt, so it didn't seem weird to me that those animations didn't carry over to later installments since most incarnations of Link only get one adventure. Even before Wind Waker came out, back when MM just released and I saw Link flip off those stumps in the intro for the very first time my mind immediately went to the idea that it was demonstrating the Hero of Time's experience from his previous journey in some way. Like I said, just a theory though :P
It does make some sense, though the ALttP Link has more experience than literally any other Link. Granted, he only appears in 2D games so there's that :P
Lmao. It makes perfect sense to me. Majoras mask is after OOT. Which means he still has the experience of being an adult. That means of course, he’d be more adept at using his young body. Anybody who had a chance to use their young body. Would most likely be more athletic then they were the first time.
These were my thoughts as well. Which is a fun little hint to keeping your experience while reverting back in time, which happens continuously throught MM.
26:02 - "Not every game needs to convey fun. The interactive medium can convey so many emotions through its gameplay. And although fun is a very important part of that interactivity, other feelings are just as important." The best sentence uttered in the whole video in my opinion. Short, concise and very effective. I'll never forget that you said this. Amazing video on Majora's Mask. Congratulations.
Christian Guerrero hristian Guerrero comment sucks. Come on this guy put the effort in to make a 47 minute video, the person you replied to pointed out one sentence and so by your divine opinion the whole video sucked? I’m sorry but I really dislike this throw away attitude that permeates the internet. You have your opinion and that’s cool but at least try and think about how much work went into something before you decide “video sucks”. Also what does any of this have to do with the remaster? He played the remaster and so that’s what you take objection to? Maybe capturing the footage was easier that way.
Christian Guerrero it’s only made for the people who never played the og so don’t judge to harshly. The remaster is only slightly tougher due to the bosses having the new eye feature.
Another effed up detail about Majora's Mask is that the Romani Ranch's specialty drink is alcoholic. That is why child Link can't normally go in to the milk bar. So on the final day the younger Romani sister says her older sister is finally going to allow her to try it. So she is essentially getting the younger sister drunk so she won't feel any pain when they die. Even just writing that here makes me tear up a bit. This was truly one of the most engaging world settings of any Zelda games. This did what BotW failed to do. They both have incredibly simplistic main stories, but this one fleshed out the world's characters in a far better way than BotW did with any it's side characters especially the champions.
@@Oomze there are plenty of alcoholic beverages made with milk. Chateau Romani isn't their regular milk. You need the membership thing and they don't allow kids to drink it.
Incredible. I've had Majora's Mask on my 3DS for a while, and haven't put any serious time into it. It's the one Zelda game that I just entirely missed, and this video (While being spoilery, I was aware of that going into it) gave me the motivation to finally sit down and play the damn thing. The way you describe it is exactly what I want from a Zelda game, and I'll never understand why I haven't actually played all of Majora's Mask. This was a fantastic video! I'm glad I caught it- you've earned a sub from me.
Majora's Mask was my first Zelda game. It was the game that made me a gamer. It was the game that taught me what games could actually be. This game holds a special place in my heart. And yes I prefer it to Ocarina
Dude I couldn't figure out how to beat it, even as a teenager! I wish I would've dedicated more time and made an effort. I'll have to catch an emulator or something
Maybe it's just me, but... I personally will always like the original N64 version over the 3DS largely because of the change made to the Song of Double Time. I do believe that Majora's Mask is one of the best video game experiences ever, especially for a kid. And as an experience above anything else, I will never forget how much more real the world felt when I had to wait in it. I'd just be waiting for an event to take place, alone with my thoughts. If I got bored, maybe I'd just walk around, look up at the moon, or risk leaving to try something else in the meantime. I especially love how the game plays ambient sounds at night instead of music. Waiting made everything feel more real. Waiting for the Anju sidequest events gave me a real sense of responsibility as a kid, that I was actually going out of my way a bit to do favors for characters I cared about, and I never knew what was gonna happen next so waiting gave me a lot of time to imagine the possibilities. I'll never forget waiting for the alien invasion in Romani Ranch. Because you had to wait until 2am in the game, THAT was the sole reason that quest scared me so much. The waiting gave me so much anxiety as a kid. As a result, it made me feel like I truly accomplished something when I finally mustered the courage to go back and beat it. Now I get it. It makes sense. The 3DS made a great change for convenience, I know a lotta people enjoy it, and also it makes little sense to force people to wait for in-game events when they're playing on the 3DS, which runs on batteries. Nowadays, I probably wouldn't mind replaying it on the 3DS simply because I don't have as much free time anymore as I did as a kid. But to me at least, letting you skip to any hour of the day makes the game less of a personalized experience and more of a checklist of errands. Waiting was one of the reasons Majora's Mask is one of my all time favorite video game experiences.
You can still choose to skip in 12 hour increments and wait if you want tho. Adding this feature literally took nothing away from how you want to play the game
There are quite a few little changes to 3DS Majora's Mask that puts me off it. The biggest issue for me is the swimming in MM64 is so joyous, when I was a kid I used to go to the sea and swim around just for fun.. yet the 3DS version's swimming is incredibly obnoxious by comparison.
3ds version sucks. They screwed up the boss battles and swimming. The positives don’t out weigh the negatives. Glad they’re porting the n64 version for switch
@@thebenmidthun @K3zster There is a fan patch/romhack for the 3DS version called Project Restoration which restores a lot of the stuff from the original (zora swimming, deku hopping, boss design, etc) but keeps the quality of life changes from the 3DS version, and even adds new quality of life stuff. I highly recommend it.
Not sure I agree on your thoughts regarding Goht. Nothing absolutely murders the intensity and frenetic pace of that boss battle like having to stop, take off your mask, pull out your bow, and score a few hits before the active (FUN) part of the battle resumes.
yeah,it just makes the fight longer, not more challenging(also,i think you can still cheese the dude with arrows like in the original). what i also kinda dont get personally is how odolwa just standing there makes him more unique than being basicly the only boss ever with an anything goes-approach.
@Natalie yes I haven’t played the game but odolwa was absolutely murdered by the 3DS remake and how you beat him in the N64 version it’s a frantic fight with one clear rule first one to die loses but the 3DS version just makes it a linear set of actions to preform to kill him while he just stands there waiting to die just waiting for you to expose his weak point by flying slowly overhead.
@@nicholasiovino7690 All of this. Goht fight was awesome and unique because you spent the whole time chasing him down and ramming him. Odalwa fight was awesome and unique cause unlike every other Zelda boss with waiting for glowy eyeballs to appear, it was just a straight-up deathmatch. And the endgame silliness of steamrolling him in 5 seconds with Fierce Deity was hilarious. XD
In case people still haven't figured it out, but if you ran into his side instead of hitting him from the air or back, then he will fall to the side and you can hit the eye with the Goron. If anything, the problem is that they made this mechanic not obvious enough, because otherwise people wouldn't complain about the change.
You guys ever noticed how there's a teddy bear wrapped in bandages in the closet where the gibdo dad is? Maybe the little girl put it there so he wouldn't feel so alone or something.
I always interpreted it as a bit of black comedy. Like the dad is becoming a gibdo so he develops an insane tendency to try and to turn other things into gibdos... including the teddy bear that happened to be in the closet he was locked into.
What I love about MM is that Link isn't even the chosen hero in this game he's just a good hearted kid who decided of his own terms to stand up and do the right thing a true hero.

I mean he did say that Twilight Princess is his favorite is his favorite because it does linear progression so well (paraphrased). Not my opinion but that is what he said. I think it was in the botw retrospective. He also said that linear Zelda, if done right is great or something like that.
Personally, I felt the bosses on the 3DS version were worse than in the N64 version. Odolwa would always block arrows, knock you out of the air with his moths, and was just outright furious to fight on the N64 but the 3DS version nerfed him so hard that I could kill him before he could even land a single hit on me. Goht just became more tedious instead of just a fun little race and smash. Gyorg can go rot in a ditch considering all the BS that Nintendo added to his fight; The whole feeding mines to him on top of the heavy restricted Zora Swimming, just made that fight so much worse. I didn't mind the 1st half of Twinmold's fight; I found it to be a refreshing change overall but the 2nd half was just annoying with how crappy it was that I never wanted to return to that dungeon ever again if I could avoid it. I also never counted the Gibdo Well as a separate mini dungeon to Ikana Castle as you require the Mirror Shield from the Well to complete the Castle, making it feel like it's own complete dungeon experience, granted the whole acquiring items from outside the dungeon was a PITA. Finally, you didn't mention the nerf to water hopping as a Deku Scrub. That alone made the Swamp in its entirety much more difficult than it needed to be and was probably one of the worst changes made to the 3DS version, alongside Zora swimming.
the song of the Final Hours is still one of the most impressive compositions in a video games I’ve ever heard. (15:30) I have never heard a song so perfectly fitting and deserving of its tone that it gives me a wave of chills every few seconds, *every single time I hear it* . it’s the best kind of song, one whose emotional weight can’t even be vocalized through language - *it has to be experienced* . there are no words for how incredible that song is as a piece of music, the composer deserves endless praise for that track in my eyes. any song that gets me choked up entirely disconnected from its context even after I’ve heard it nearly a hundred times deserves a bow of respect. that shit is just insane.
i don’t understand how this man is so entertaining. i often get bored by 30 minute videos, yet i can sit through all the hours of the retrospectives. i just get lost in time. amazing content my man, keep it up.
The gyro controls on the 3ds version for looking around and shooting the bow are so litteraly so good that I will actually go out of my way to use them for once
That’s funny because in Ocarina of time he didn’t even use the Ocarina to traverse through time he used the master sword instead. However in Majora’s mask he actually depends on the ocarina to slow down or speed up time to save the land of termina. So technically in majoras mask he’s more like the hero of time than he was in ocarina of time
@@LiamMountifield true. it was the pedestal of time where the master sword rests. the ocarina only opened the door. which is why i love how they added the ocarina songs in MM.
Am I the only one that didn't use Epona during the side quest at the ranch with the aliens? I always ended up just using the Bunny Hood and ran around to shoot at them with the bow.
Only had to be in two places during the entire event: In front of the barn and behind the barn. Slowing down time makes this insanely easy since the aliens are locked to the timeline.
@@davidmcgill1000 Oh I actually turned of the slow down because I thought it would made it harder because I had to fend them of longer. It was still pretty easy.
9:08 Adding just one weakness instead of giving you a free battle where you can almost anything don't make the boss more unique,it's the reverse,it makes him less unique and more boring to defeat.
People just like to complain, the remake did so much good. It's annoying how people just focus on the problems and don't recognize how much good the remake did.
@@astrouphel What good? make the game more bright removing part of the atmosphere? removing unique ways of defeating bosses so you can just defeat them with one specific attack in one place? i disagree with you.
@@astrouphel I could explain more, but there's this video that can explain almost everything i don't like about the game. ruclips.net/video/653wuaP0wzs/видео.html
@@bk_3775 The bomber notebook upgrade, the Double Song Of Time being much more useful, of course the graphics, the fishing holes, the much faster Goron punches, the redical for Deku Link, and while it is a bit disappointing that the fast swim uses magic, the swimming for Zora Link is more controlled, you can do the spider houses on any day at any time, the bank is in a much better location, the Owl Statues now permanently save your game so you don't have to reset time to permanently save, the game overall is much less tedious to complete, the Stone Mask is in the one location you are actually going to use it. You can still use all of your weapons to stun the bosses, so it's not like you're limited to using one weapon. The Gyorg fight now has a lot more depth to it instead of just "hit it with weapons". That's how all of the bosses are. They were made to be actual bosses in the remake, to actually have depth to them.
I think one of the most important things to mention is the music. Some of my favorite songs and themes of all time come from these games. The slow clock town theme at the start is truly great (and stone tower temple theme is amazing.) and I cannot praise enough Zelda's lullaby. Watching fans take these themes and make them their own is satisfying. Koji Kondo is amazingly talented.
This game is timeless to be honest. I had a blast playing it as a kid, and I still have a blast playing through. They were really onto something with this
J's Reviews ayy its J's reviews. Pretty sure i'm subbed to u lol Edit: i meant because of the broken subscribing system on youtube. Not sure if that was clear
I love this game even more than Ocarina. Those side quests on 3 days scenario, how npcs act over the days gives this game such a life to the world and how your actions impact over their life . The transformations are so cool, the side activities, all of these fall into place so perfectly. It is true that it could use more dungeons, more what it lack in quantity it has in quality.
Gorman's Mask actually has one more use aside from an empty bottle: After saving the ranch from the alien attack, if you wear it and talk to Cremia for the Milk Run quest, the Gorman bandit's will NOT attack the wagon. They'll run up to it, but they never strike at the bottles.
You really get the point of Majora's Mask. The time constraints are meant to stress the player and convey a level of urgency. The characters are so unique and they all have such great stories. I really prefer the original N64 version. I like the models better and I do not like the changes to the bosses and the swimming. I fell like Aonuma pulled a George Lucas with the remaster. Some quality of life changes with the time skips and things would have been great. Tampering with core game staples is a bridge too far for me. If people prefer the remake that's cool. I'll just stick with the original.
Kinda reminds me of how people will complain that a dungeon was too hard or confusing just because it required some brain power when you were doing the exact opposite of that for most dungeons... like in OOT, eveyrone rags on the water temple's last bit, getting lost there and yet... when i did it myself as an adult i foudn out what the secret path was... by just using my map to check where i havent been... and i knew what the water level had to be at to get there... such a "puzzle" right? and yet it stomped everyone and became infamous... in much the same way Majoras Mask did the same thing with each hard adn difficult puzzle... my cousin found the gorons ice temple stupid and boring from watching me play it, haivng to push the column down as i progressed... while my brother who was impressed with how you could fire arrow the curtains in the Ikana boss fight and immediately told my cousin to shut up cause he didnt know anything about the game's complex puzzles. MM puzzles were meant to take up your time, they required some thinking often times, even figuring out what to do next, im still praising the water dungeon for having literally 1 key... the rest of the dungeon is figuring out how to get about with the water mechanics, ice mechanics, melting ice, flow valves, etc and the 4th temple requires you to turn the whole thing upside down and renavigate the old rooms with trying to remember how the ceilings were... much more stressful with the timer... but again, most people would opt for... jsut removing the timer system... or the difficulty of puzzles... etc. hell MM was by far the hardest Zelda ive played and it felt like enemies, even the ones on the field could be a challenge... mostly was the low free health since theres only 4 dungeons but damn, that felt good, vs just taking 1/2 a heart for FINALLY getting hit, halfway through the game as youre on some 12 hearts by now...
@@elgatochurro To be fair about the complaints of the Water Temple if you used your small keys in the wrong order you could make it impossible to complete the temple.
@@elgatochurro Getting lost was only one part that made the water temple infamous. The other part is the utter nonsense of wasting time on the menus to put the iron boots on and off. As you realize you went the wrong way again, you have to do that garbage over and over again. This issue was 100% fixed in the 3DS remake.
That moment when you realise that your life has been as horrifying and sad as Majora's Mask and that playing the game saved your sanity in so many levels. Thank you, Miyamoto
Apt analysis and great video! Majoras Mask is my favorite video game ever due to its emotional depth and the fact that it allows you to transform into other species. Plus the music and realms are incredible.
A lot of fair points. This sure is my favorite Zelda title mainly for the dark themes it has, especially when it comes to the cosmic and psychological horror aspects of Majora's mask itself. Sure would kind of love to see it return, maybe attach itself to Link for a change and see what kind of issues he could have being a chosen hero and what not and be a chaotic spirit that appears a lot more to taunt you, test you and challenge you.
I found that many of the changes including those to deku link's jump, zora link's swimming, the no quick save save feature, the bosses, and to the ice arrows hurt the remake. Deku link cannot jump across the lilly pads as simply, in the remake you have to line yourself up and run across the full diameter of the lillipad to reach the next safely. The great bay area is quite bare and the entire area including the water dungeon are designed so that those who master the zora controls can move freely though. Considering how many video game nerdwriters care about how gameplay tells a story instead of cutscenes, akin to the film saying 'show don't tell' the quick saving adds to the atmosphere by increasing the negative consequences of dying, the relief of the save at the end of the song of time is an actual relief. And I would have been fine if there was a harder difficulty option with quick saving, but to my recollection there was none. The old bosses had more interesting ways to defeat them. Specifically how you beat goht and molduga. With the ice arrows the original just gave an interesting line in the item description which would lead one to find out that you could freeze water. The remake both starts off showing where you must shoot but during the gorge fight it does not show you that you can freeze the water even though you can.
Funnily enough, they did not even change the dekujumps. They just made link slow af(So slow that I only noticed that I did not notice that you do go further with the spin until I decided to replay the first two dungeons in one daycycle on emulator)
A couple notes, specifically about the changes made in MM3D: Adding functionality to the Troupe Leader mask is objectively good. All the bosses in the original were mediocre, but at least approached some kind of challenge. They had no forced pattern to fight them, so you could at least make some kind of choice. Remake fights are pathetically easy AND only have one pattern you have to do. If either of these weren't the case it would be fine, but both together is just awful. When fighting Odolwa, for example, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from immediately burrowing back into the flower as soon as you hit him. Ice arrows only being allowed on sparkling water is insulting. Anyone older than 6 years old could comprehend that ice freezes water, and once you know they make platforms you can approach everything with that in mind. Basic good game design dumbed down for zero reason. Zora swimming. Changing the movement speed of deku link when water hopping without changing the position of the lily pads in the swamp is dumb and breaks things. Gyro is fantastic. A lot of difficulty issues could have been fixed by having a "hard" mode or something. Specific to you, as a reviewer, you have a strong aversion to anything that makes you stop and think. You have a right to a preference but many people enjoy when the path forward is not obvious. There are a lot of obtuse things in the game you need a guide for the first time around (ex: Anju Kafei quest events), but going nuclear with bomber hints is not the best solution. ESPECIALLY when they run after you instead of you asking for their help. The graphics are gorgeous, but still have some overbrightening problems in Gyorg's arena and woodfall temple. They should have assigned the dpad or touchscreen to be the transformation masks. That would immediately modernize the game massively and fix a ton of repetitive menuing. Going along with that they could have done more to speed up time wasters. A fantastic change was letting the song of double time go to any hour, but maybe they could let you skip cutscenes and encore song performances.
I’m going to call you out now on the deku jumping I’ve played both versions of the game and actually tested the jumping side by side and found 3DS to maybe slightly slower but I was still able to get from pad to pad and was able to spin and gain momentum just like the original. So ya that change especially much like most of the complaints people with the 3DS version is over blown and execrated. There’s nothing wrong with jumping it’s fine. I’m sorry but people complaining about really ticks me off because there’s nothing wrong with deku jumping and that’s coming from someone who’s play both.
I have a tricked out switch and PS4 but lately have been longing for gameplay that reminds me of my better years, and so recently bought majoras mask on 3DS. I find myself playing majoras mask and ocarina of time on my 3DS, even over my PS4 or switch. Love the videos brother. Spot on analysis....

Anju and Kafei is the greatest side quest in any Zelda game in my opinion. Now that I think about it, it's my favorite side quest in gaming history. I remember playing this when it first came out and I was 12 or 13 trying to figure out the mystery of this couple. I felt so confused on what to do and very connected to the characters The satisfaction of figuring it out myself was such a great accomplishment as a kid. The bunny hood makes life so much better. Once I got this mask I wore it every chance I got. The Fierce Deity mask felt like the greatest accomplishment of all. I kinda wish you could wear it everywhere, but maybe that would have caused too many issues for the rest of the game. It would have been cool to talk to others in town with that mask on though. For story this game is by far my favorite Zelda game. This game has a strong nostalgia effect on me because it was my first Zelda game and I feel like it's tied with Breath of the Wild. It's hard to say one over the other because they are so different and depending on my mood I'm going to enjoy parts of one other over the other at times. I still haven't played the 3DS remake yet.
Majora's Mask sticks with me more than Ocarina of Time. Moonfall is one of the most legendary moments not only in Zelda, but gaming in general. I always got tons of satisfaction from beating the game because I really cared about the world and characters of Termina. It's still one of the best games Nintendo's ever made.
13:10 Something that makes this Zora section a bit more meaningful, is the fact those are Mikau's kids you save by inhabiting his body. (or transforming into it w/e)
At least for me, I didn't have much issue with the 5000 rupee Heart Piece - on my 100% run, I ALWAYS started my cycles doing cleanup and ended them doing cleanup, so I deposited several hundred rupees before I'd reset. I only had to grind a little bit, and I just did the suuuuper easy Zora pot minigame, since you can get hundreds of rupees per minute. Good stuff, keep it up
15:50 I got a similar feeling in dark souls 1, at the end of a few ng+, after killing all the bosses, collecting all the items and doing all the side quests, followed by killing all the npcs (mercy killings, most of them), just standing at firelink shrine thinking on what do to, only to find that there's only one last thing to do; kill gwyn. The music haunts me as I remember all the npcs that used to inhabit the shrine, remembering what they and I've been through to get to where we are. and for what? for everyone to die? for the world to be reset? for all of this to happen again? Even after finding every ounce of lore among every item, and just barely being able to piece each detail together, there really was only one last thing to do.
When I played BotW I seriously had to question if Majora's Mask is still my favorite Zelda game. Ultimately, it still is my favorite. BotW is still an amazing game and experience, but it just can't dethrone Majora's Mask for me. My greatest wish would be for the BotW sequel to take place in a scaled up version of Termina with the same mechanics of BotW, but with the masks of Majora's Mask. imagine the traversal options you could have by turning into a Zora, Goron, or Rito in an open world like unto Breath of the Wild, you could have the entire Great Bay ocean be a region you could explore as the Zora. Rolling across the plains and mountains as a Goron would be a great change of pace from using a horse. And of course the Rito form could replace the paraglider altogether or at least be the most difficult mask to obtain. Heck, they could be based on the Champions, they are dead after all, like all the transformation masks in MM were based on dead people.
@@jarerarebear1765 When I played Majora's Mask, I spent a few hours deciding if I like it more than BotW which was my favorite game, but then decided that Majora's Mask was my favorite. I play it way less than BotW but I just love Majora's Mask a whole lot more.

It's refreshing to actually see someone sing the praises of the 3ds port rather than in my opinion, unfairly lambasting it due to a heavy case of the nostalgia goggles. Yes the Zora swimming is undoubtably worse and the deku skipping is a little awkward but you only skip across water in one area of the game and only in the great bay coast does the swimming suck. The gyro controls are amazing and the upgraded lighting and visuals is very pretty and does not detract from the atmosphere of the game.
I don’t understand that complaint about the Deku jumping I played both versions and tested it side to side and yes the 3DS was maybe slightly slower I was still to jump from pad to pad with no unintended death.

AcidHotLine Most people think that nowadays. I like Majora's weird, creepy and colourful world, characters, tension, side-quest focus, and multiple gameplay differences in the masks. However, Ocarina was the ultimate dungeon crawling experience, so while many of the side-quests make every continent feel like dungeons, Ocarina still had more dungeons, which is something I kind of prefer. Still everything else Majora did, aside from dungeons, was ultimately better.

It'd be cool if rather it was a series showing the experiences of the people of Termina as the moon starts to enlarge. this game makes me cry I cry when I find a little girl driven mad by god knows what, and I cry when during another cycle I prevent that. I cry when I see two lovers reuiniyed in spite of curses, crimes, and cataclysmic events, I cry when a little girl is reunited with her father and in an arguably misplaced act of bravery opts to shield him from the knowledge she just spent possibly days terrified of what he had become locked up in a closet. I fucking cry when I go from the dark brooding atmosphere of this game to guiding cute little coccos around so that a guy gets to see them grow up even if it may be the last thing he does. This game is at once disarming, dark, and beautiful, and I have never played anything that is as powerful (except pathologic HD but still)

Funnily enough, I know a guy who's doing a play based on a Termina without Link to save it.
Kinda funny how Fierce Deity and Majora are depicted as rivals but, when you put on the mask, the boss fight becomes a one-sided curbstomp. Perhaps the introduction of Link's sword abilities put the Fierce Deity over the top. :P

small point:
you mention that the bunny hood sidequest is a slog. Stone mask: you get the ability to hide from everyone by helping a guy who just wants to be seen for a change. etc etc
These "ironic" quest set-ups cut right to the heart of MM. It's the most self-aware Zelda, the most compact, the most emotionally relevant.
They're not supposed to be "ironic", they're supposed to be healing. You're turning their problems into masks, freeing them from the burden and using it to your advantage.

Well lol, you can also use the letter to Kafei's mom to give to him.
Such heartfelt words, such an emotional message... and now they are just toilet paper!
That's why I use it on the first night when you first start playing because the deed is useless on the first time before you get the Ocarina back.

Majora's Mask has remained not only my favorite Zelda game, but my favorite game of all time. The atmosphere that this game builds, the people of Termina, the content packed away in the game. It's all so satisfying.

luigimario1991 Yes, much unlike the new Zelda game.

Nintendo did say they were going to try and make botw's sequel darker.
@Pokémon & FF fan good point
BOTW2 is going to be darker than majoras mask according to Nintendo, so you’re in luck

Proof: ruclips.net/video/wjJbqa63mDw/видео.html&ab_channel=ZeldaIGN
Example B: Stalfos. This guy takes out two of them in 17 seconds with only 3 hearts and takes no damage: ruclips.net/video/PGAz1C4D480/видео.html&ab_channel=SoCasualGaming
Notice what he's doing against the stalfos?
You can choose to let all the abilities and items the game gives you go to waste by not using them but they're there for a reason.
wow never knew that nice
I never had a problem with the combat since I utilised magic gear masks etc to forcefully make openings
Mario Castaneda wow they changed that? That's disappointing.
Mario Castaneda You can still make ice wherever you want. The sparkles are for guidance, they aren't the only places you can use the ice arrows.
The only place you can create ice platforms freely on the 3DS remake is on Gyorg's room for some unexplained reason. I say it because there's a Stray Fairy you can get earlier in Stone Tower with the help of an ice platform, which is impossible on the 3DS
Mikau Black Which Stray Fairy is this, out of curiosity?
Cloudycanine
On the room where you get the map, while the Temple is straight, it's filled with water, and underwater is a sun switch right under the bridge. Create an ice platform from the side on the surface and fire the light arrow to activate it.
At this point I can't recall if the chest that spawns is upside down or straight tho. Since this sun switch in question is right below the bridge, there's no way to toggle it until you reverse Stone Tower.
My immersion of the final hours music scene broke when I saw the guard trying to stop link from leaving the town at 15:49 XD
"You trying to leave? You gotta stay here and die like the rest of us!"
He is dedicated
It's quite unsettling that Link, only a child, must confront and manage emotions that even many adults struggle to handle. This aspect adds to the darker atmosphere of Majora's Mask.
The Gorman Mask in the N64 version wasn't entirely useless. It made the Gorman Brothers no attack you while riding on Cremia's carriage.
Glad I'm not the only one who knew this!

deffdefying he’s more like Loki in that it’s his trickery and trolling nature are his strength, not the same old Ganon power thing.
And the satisfying justice. You see how everyone was done wrong and you bring justice.
i just wish he was more active and compelling, I wish he acted more like bill cipher
21:03 For me, this was actually one of the most memorable parts of the game. It was my first playthrough of the 3 day cycle and I was mostly just running around without much aim.

Question Block Gaming HEY DID YOU ENJOY MAJORA’S MASK?
Majora's Mask was my first Zelda game. It was the game that made me a gamer. It was the game that taught me what games could actually be. This game holds a special place in my heart. And yes I prefer it to Ocarina
How FUCKING dare you say that I do respect your opinion but I must say that it is not the right opinion. X
I think anybody prefers it to Ocarina tbh
Ocarina is kinda basic honestly. Majoras mask even with its flaws was something special.
Same it just inspires you to play a slightly more tedious normal Zelda while the normal version is all about time management
Not sure I agree on your thoughts regarding Goht. Nothing absolutely murders the intensity and frenetic pace of that boss battle like having to stop, take off your mask, pull out your bow, and score a few hits before the active (FUN) part of the battle resumes.

And those eyeballs look absolutely ridiculous

"I think I'm the type of Zelda fan who craves the sense of nonlinear adventure over the well paced linear adventure."
Your favorite game of all time is Twilight Princess.
And as he has stated multiple times: it is his favourite -despite- beeing linear.
People are allowed to have exceptions. Not sure why his is that edgy mess, but still.
Damien Thonk The Zelda fanbase strikes again
i think it means he wants the nonlinear adventure but no zelda game has done an “adventure” as well as twilight princess did for him
I mean he did say that Twilight Princess is his favorite is his favorite because it does linear progression so well (paraphrased).
They could be killed of very quickly in the 64 version especially Goht. And Twinmold wasn't a challenge.
The water hopping is probably the worst change.

the song of the Final Hours is still one of the most impressive compositions in a video games I’ve ever heard. (15:30)
I have never heard a song so perfectly fitting and deserving of its tone that it gives me a wave of chills every few seconds, *every single time I hear it* . it’s the best kind of song, one whose emotional weight can’t even be vocalized through language - *it has to be experienced* . there are no words for how incredible that song is as a piece of music, the composer deserves endless praise for that track in my eyes.
any song that gets me choked up entirely disconnected from its context even after I’ve heard it nearly a hundred times deserves a bow of respect. that shit is just insane.

That’s funny because in Ocarina of time he didn’t even use the Ocarina to traverse through time he used the master sword instead. So technically in majoras mask he’s more like the hero of time than he was in ocarina of time

I always ended up just using the Bunny Hood and ran around to shoot at them with the bow.
Nah I did that as well.
The horse makes it harder to complete that quest. Really easy to just stand in place and shoot.
I never used Epona for that. I used the Bunny Hood and the pet dog, who barked at the closest alien.
Only had to be in two places during the entire event: In front of the barn and behind the barn. Slowing down time makes this insanely easy since the aliens are locked to the timeline.

@@matthewmuir8884 yes I’m sure they’ll notice
A lot of fair points. This sure is my favorite Zelda title mainly for the dark themes it has, especially when it comes to the cosmic and psychological horror aspects of Majora's mask itself.
Sure would kind of love to see it return, maybe attach itself to Link for a change and see what kind of issues he could have being a chosen hero and what not and be a chaotic spirit that appears a lot more to taunt you, test you and challenge you.
I love the idea that the moon cries tears because it doesn't want to destroy the town. It's being forced to by Majora.
I look forward to your thoughts on the dungeons in TP HD, a criminally overlooked refresh of a game that was ahead of its time.
It’s so relieving to hear from someone who understands how atmosphere is properly conveyed, despite whether or not it’s everyone’s “cup of tea”.
Ah yes, my 200th time falling asleep to this video
@Gameboy224 Why does changing links momentum restore how it worked then?
It's amazing that such a classic game came from such restrictions and a tight timeframe. It had disaster written all over it.
This is still one of my favourite RUclips videos. Absolutely the best review of this game I've seen.
"Majora's Mask is weird. The perfect four letter sentence description of Nintendo's..."

A couple notes, specifically about the changes made in MM3D:
Adding functionality to the Troupe Leader mask is objectively good.

I got a similar feeling in dark souls 1, at the end of a few ng+, after killing all the bosses, collecting all the items and doing all the side quests, followed by killing all the npcs (mercy killings, most of them), just standing at firelink shrine thinking on what do to, only to find that there's only one last thing to do; kill gwyn.

I didn't really like MM at first because of the time limit like many people, but as I got into it I realized it was the best Zelda for me!
***** I like it more than Breath,I think BotW is a very good entry though

The gyro controls are amazing and the upgraded lighting and visuals is very pretty and does not detract from the atmosphere of the game.

this game makes me cry
I cry when I find a little girl driven mad by god knows what, and I cry when during another cycle I prevent that.
