- Terrible Drivers & Trains At Railroad Crossings. BIG Mixed Train Diverging From Main 1 To Main 2, 5 CSX Trains In Hamilton, Ohio On The Toledo Sub & Train Station Update For Station That Was Moved.
The first train is a HUGE CSX Manifest crossing over from one main track to the other. Watch the locomotives change tracks right in front of me and listen to the awesome clanking sounds of steel on steel. This was a southbound train on the Toledo Sub heading to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. Notice the car that didn't want to wait for the train at the Dayton Street railroad crossing. The driver goes the wrong way on a one way street to try to beat the train.
The next train is a northbound grain train on the same track. Then we go to my favorite railroad crossing, the Heaton Street crossing. The gates were down and a car went around the gates to beat a train with 4 locomotives. I just barely got my camera on in time. I was planning on filming there but then drove to another spot but wasn't sure if the train would pass there so I came back. That train was a southbound auto racks train on the same track as the first two trains. Yes, the first train started on the other train and diverged onto this track just a block south of here though.
The fourth train is a southbound manifest on the outside main and it had some brand new steel coils cars that were already tagged. I'm not sure if it diverged over onto the other track.
The fifth train is on the same track but it is going northbound. No Norfolk Southern trains came for some reason. I think they were doing track maintenance. We did take a quick look at the train station. I showed both sides of the station just to show what has progressed since my last video of it. Not much has changed. As you know, I have a couple of videos that show the train station being moved from the CSX wye just a short distance south of the new location. The city is talking about possibly having Amtrak stop at the new location. That would require a short reverse move. Hopefully that will happen some day. The Amtrak Cardinal makes 3 round trips a week through Hamilton by coming off the Indianapolis Sub and diverging onto the Toledo sub towards Cincinnati Union Terminal.
Best frequencies in Hamilton are 160.230 and 160.320 for CSX and 160.440 for Norfolk Southern. There are a few other frequencies such as 452.9375 for the end of train device and there is another good CSX train to dispatcher frequency. I only listen to a couple frequencies at a time otherwise you start missing things when two of them talk at once. I just listen to the frequencies that trains use to call out the signals and that the defect detectors are on.

Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon dimanche ! 🌟
Someone dumped a black kitten at my house, he looks just like yours, he's a year old now and beautiful!
Great video! Thanks for the work you do to create them.
First manifest train gives you a great appreciation for all the different things transported by the railroad system in our country! Be careful out there!
I agree with you. Many loads on trains are obviously meant for a single customer. Not this one.
They had about everything on that train, even the kitchen sink. Must have emptied the yard lol
What a long train. I can't believe it didn't have a DPU behind the coil cars! The Pan Am box car was awesome, too. If I remember correctly the logo was the same as that used on the airplanes. And I loved ❤ the dog on the auto rack. That wasn't graffiti, it was artistry. Great catch to start the video JT. 😊😊😊😊😊
Seems like everytime JT is here drivers are going the wrong way
Thanks for showing old station, love those old buildings
Hamilton, land of the long trains! Hamilton never disappoints. No dpu's today.🤔 thanks for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it😊
Very interesting first few trains, 2 large manifest trains with 2 lead locos, 125+ cars and no DPU's, then you have a 75+ car auto rack train with 4 lead locks. Very interesting live action JT. Kudos on all the new CSX coil and gondola cars.
I hope that they do something soon to the old station before it decays. I'am afraid one of these days you will record a runner train collision. Thanks for another good one JT.
You and me both! The station is going slow but I will keep an eye on it
We got all excited to see a Pan Am boxcar. Originally, that was the Boston & Maine and recently bought out by CSX. It made our day. Thanks!
Very cool!😊
That was an awesomely long mixed freight. Thanks 👍 JT! 😊😊😊
The last train was fairly long too. I like the green tanks. Much better than the plain black or white cars. 😊😊 Great video today JT! Be careful going home. 😊😊
Good Morning Brian & crew! Have a great Sunday!
❤
@@davidbradshaw1582 Hey David..
We have level crossing in the UK but this is special 👍
Thanks, JT. Enjoyed it, too. Hey, love the pets in wrap-up at the end! Cats don't do much, that's for sure... they're more for show... but love them anyway... love the way they just "own" the place!
Thank God the kids where not in the playhouse !!!
The cat is a lot of fun but I dont see her much. She is always sleeping somewhere. I did find a dead mouse today in the grass by the house when I was mowing. I know she had something to do with it lol
More great trains going through
Hamilton, OH. always glad to see
them going by on a nice day like
here very nice, some people just
can't wait on the trains, also great
to your dogs and cats in your videos
take care, keep cool and Thank You
very much Jaw Tooth.🤠
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Just love your channel JT, full of information on the trains and history coupled with the shots of the animals.🇬🇧
I really liked all the old buildings too, sad they aren't still in use by anyone anymore. Thanks again for my daily train fix!✌🏼
Glad you like them!😊
Probably too much trouble to refurbish the buildings, and no one wants to demo them just to build anew.
You kept your composure better than I would have on that wrong way driver, good for you.
Did you noticed what looked like an unmarked cop car flashing its lights shortly after and turned right to possibly pursue? 1:36
Oh, it might be a side-effect of JT's camera... it looks like lights flashing, but more likely an affect from JT's camera that makes the car to appear to have flashing lights.
@@gheffz Either way the driver was wrong. I ran into a lot of bad driving yesterday.
@@l_Live_In_Oregon Definitely agree!
Hey JawTooth
Shout out to Mrs. JawTooth 👍🚂
Great entertainment. Keep up the great work 👍👍
Thanks! Will do!
I was under the impression that there should be a buffer boxcar between a working engine and a tank car marked "flammable". My mistake, the tank is marked "not for flammable loads". Next time I'll read the fine print.
Wonderful video
Hamilton plenty of action thanks for the update on the train station great video thanks Jaw tooth
That was a long cool train what a capture Mr JT. 😊 You know so much about trains. I can tell you've been doing this a while. Great knowledge. We are enjoying this video so much. It's like being there. ❤ I missed seeing a DPU on that long train. Aww...sweet fur babies ❤️ Thanks for another awesome video. 😊
Thank you very much! I just got home a few minutes ago and Loki was really excited. He wants to be my main dog and Chessie is getting jealous lol
@@JawTooththat became noticeable when Norfie made her debut on your channel 😊
0:35 Grew up in the neighborhood just off the right side of the screen.
Cool 😎
That's a beautiful big building! 😊
I heard a story on the news regarding Milwaukee Wi. that as many as 40% of the drivers in that area are unlicensed and uninsured. The city council says driving is a right and not a priviledge and have told the cops not to enforce traffic laws. Hope the depot doesn't turn into a forgotten project. Excellent video as always, liked it much. Thanks JT!
"Long Trains Runnin" One of my favorite Doobie Brothers tunes😊
Yeah, that is a good one. Train Kept Rollin by Aerosmith lol
Great stuff. the one train was super long, amazing pulling power. Like to see see same train start out and listen to those engines at high RPM.
thanks for capturing
Wow one Lon trains without any DPU’s! Thanks for starting the video son!
No worries!
This was another lovely day of railfanning at Hamilton, Ohio on 20 July 2023, Jaw Tooth! I enjoyed watching the trains in this video. Thank you for the update on the Hamilton, Ohio Depot in its new location. I agree that no additional work has been done on the depot since the last time you showed us the depot on a video. Thank you for mentioning the build date on those new CSX gondolas that appeared in two of the mixed freight trains. Before you mentioned that the new gondolas were built in May 2023, I was stopping the video to try to find a built date stencil on the cars. I finally discovered where the built date was stenciled on the cars, but I could not read the month portion of the built date. I thought the built date was April 2023. The stencil was too small to read even with the magnifying glass app on my cell phone. I am glad that you mentioned the May 2023 build date.
Pan Am. (2:40). Haven't seen that name in decades! I grew up in Hawaii and flew on a Pan Am 707 to the mainland in the 1960's. It used to be the main airline serving Hawaii and Asia. The airline went under many years ago.
Neat to see a pan am box car. Didn’t know they still existed.
I saw that pam am boxcar in New England and specially Massachusetts area you see these everywhere they're on a lot of trains especially the old Pan Am railways now owned by CSX
I’m from the Uk and we just don’t have any mixed freight trains any more
Hi there! You guys still running Steam Engines?
@@williamsantangelook thanks 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 u
It is no wonder cars run the crossing since the trins take between 5 and 10 minutes to pass. Way too long to sit there.
Better to wait 5 or 10 minutes for the slow train to pass than to have your loved ones drive slowly behind your hearse.
Some lonnnnnnng. trains , great train action JT, thanks again for the video.🥺
Thanks for watching
Great video JT!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Awesome video keep up the good work and be safe out there.
Hey there Explorer slinger, good to see you going strong. I enjoy watching the crossing over part of the rail trail also, but this is sure a LONG one! Thanks for doing what you do and take care.
Thanks, you too!😊
HiJT I hope that your having a great weekend the weather is nice and no rain now go find some more trains 🚂 and don’t forget the pets they are so cute ❤❤❤
That's the plan! I got some good trains today and got home early enough to take the dogs for a walk around the pond
❤❤ Great video JT 😊 nice filming your fur babies so adorable enjoyed watching ♥️🥰💞
Have a nice new week! 🎉🎉👍👍✔✔
Thank you! You too!
Love the brand spanking new black gondola cars. No graffitis!
Yes those were awesome
Awesome!
Hamilton never disappoints.
Awesome video but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
More to come!
WOW! A PAN AM boxcar in Hamilton!🙂🙂 These trains a way too long!😠 Great video!👍👍
Great catches! Great video JT!
Thank you very much!
Great video son! I counted 80 cars on the second train.
Hello from Sweden. Its a shame that all this "legacy" railroad property has to decay to such a situation that it is barely standing. Hopefully the railroad companies and the community will place more focus on preserving this heritage.
Great catches and nice video
Awesome video again, dam that train was long. I went out for a smoke and when I came back, still the same train lol.
Welcome back! lol
😅Pan Am thats old school history.toppie.😅thanks voor de video Brian.greetz:🍐Peer the old man.lol.🍻👍👍👍👍
I was trying to speak Dutch today in a video but had a hard time lol

Wooa..sweet.. brand new CSX Gondolas i haven't seen on the Selkirk sub. I guess this is the line that m560 and m561 use to go to and from Cincinnati to Selkirk. A cool spot im going to have to check out when i go to OH next week.
Another good one.
Thanks again!
Hello sawtooth, I like your videos on friends because I am a real fan I live in Florida have a good day. From David M , again thanks for the videos. I am wheelchair bound.
Thanks for watching! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day. Thanks for being a supporter in Florida which is one of my favorite states
I reneg on the one way streets, I seen the signs. You are right and I must apologize. I'm sorry J.T. ! I will never doubt your word again! Sorry J.T. .😐🙁
Always have to look both ways when turning onto a one way street.
Looks like a very nice and interesting town to visit!
It is!
I live in Hamilton and I was thinking that was one way thanks for confirming
Love your videos, I watch them all the time. I’m also a big train enthusiast. Anyhow, I noticed this first CSX train didn’t have a DPU. I figured as long as big as it was, it would probably have one.
Cool, thanks!
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
Another excellent video JT!!!
Thanks again!
@@JawTooth You're welcome!!!
Nice Coverage

New CSX gondola was cool 😎, seen NS pulling out some new CSX coal hoppers years back in Roanoke VA from Freight Car America when still in operation, some of those monster freights when running on an approach/slow order or just the speed through there can feel like Your filming for a long time!🛤🚂👍
I kinda liked the 'screw it' attitude of the Hamiltonian driver who obviously had no railfan blood in her or him or it... and just beat the pants off of the train by goin' the wrong way down the street (yeah, I know, trains don't have pants... but some breathe pretty hard... or pant... going up long hills, as we have seen before in your videos, Señor Jaws)... Where was I? Oh, yeah! Cool crossover by the way. The train didn't even hesitate to take the new track. Fearless. Gutsy. Loner.
Haven't seen a runner in a while but last week I saw a guy climb through a stopped train and a few days ago I saw a pickup truck with the gate down across the bed of his truck.
Concealing the evidence 😂❤
I'll bet that wrong way driver was racing the train to beat it to the next crossing.
Some really sweet catches JT, especially those new CSX gondolas, how long do you think they’ll last before getting tagged? And of course more stupid and impatient drivers making themselves known. Great job JT. Stay safe and cool.
Great video Brian!
Thanks Gabor!
@@JawTooth You're welcome!
I'm surprised that the first train did not have a GPU, even on level terrain.
*DPU
Yeah, me too
Oops. DPU.
@@garywotherspoon5037it's fine buddy, it's an honest mistake to make
I love CSX Trains
Did you know that most crossing gates have a number you can call to report a malfunctioning? I think that second to last train is going slow because it has several large cars full of hazmat and traveling through a populated area.
Very cool video, I liked it! Greetings from Brasil 🇧🇷
HEAVEN FORBID A WRONG WAY DRIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET ON THAT JT
@ 6:17...hat tip to the 'artist' who tagged that car.
some have talent
Good Morning Jaw Tooth.
I saw that Pan-Am boxcar been a long time since seeing one of those
CSX recently bought Pan Am
@@JawTooth right on 👍
Great video JT with the train crossing over to the other track.!! Do you think before the weather cools off and gets cold for the winter can you give us a late evening or night video cause that really changes how it looks.?
Good morning
That first train was a long one.
A lot of long trains travel through Hamilton, Ohio.
Hey Mr. Jaw Tooth I saw one of your comments on a video the records the shortline near me and there's something interesting about this shortline it interchanges with both Norfolk Southern and CSX railways though it is uncommon from time to time.
😅nice blue boxcar from GATX,lol.😅
Nice Video
Thanks
Wow more new gondola cars awesome
Oh yeah!
So long its not a ,,Toxic Gossip Train" I'm fine😅
Man i remember when you pushed millenium force down while he was inside the porta potty
You know? I got a lawn chair in my car and maybe ice teas and watch trains. 😊
Maybe the reason for runners n Hamiton, CSX has long slow trains.
New tracks in Farmingdale, NJ, replacing old, unmaintained spur. I wonder why? Railroad Avenue at 2nd Avenue.
Like deer 🦌 in the head light when train right at you can't not stop 🛑🚏 so don't go around them gate love your dogs and cats train horn sound good to me
Terrific work, as always, Brian. Thanks for taking care of us. Re: coil cars: Interesting. If those heavy metal covers are meant to protect the coils from the elements, why do some cars use them and others not?
I don't know. good question
The coils that are uncovered are made of material that wont rust.

Thank you for the great video. My dad was a engineer and I rode with him a lot back in the day and I seen so much unbelievable stuff. Cars going right in front of train just crazy
Very cool! That was my dream lol
12:36 here you'd NEVER see the gates closing this short before the train goes through
Many crossings have radar detection and will turn train signals red when there's still an obstacle on the crossing, like a car which didn't made it through or an idiot going around the gates
I am not sure where you got that bit about turning signals red when something is on the tracks. That is simply not factual at all, the only thing that turns a signal red is a train occupying the block and the dispatcher. Nothing across the tracks or sitting on a crossing turns the signals red.
@@cp368productions2 on some railroad crossings we have radar scan systems as danger zone monitoring and clearance notifying system.
If there's still someone or something between the gates, the system can delay the closing of the gates and thus obviously also delays the red main signal to turn green
Railroad crossings will always start closing when the train is still so far in the distance that it can always come to a complete stop in front of the crossing when it's not clear, gates not down etc. The main signal will only turn green when the railroad crossing in the following block is technically secured.
When an object enters the area between the gates after they're down the dispatcher is notified by the system. He can take further actions like give the order of an immediate emergency stop for all trains on that part of the track. After passing the main signal the train usually has no chance to come to a stop before reaching the crossing:
That's one of the radar scan systems from Honeywell, it's the white tictac shaped thing next to the crossing. There are more than 360 of them across the German rail network:
ruclips.net/video/Jyb069iAswU/видео.html
Wow, about the wrong way driver.
It's crazy how much graffiti gets done to train cars.
A sure indicator for unemployment 😮
That was a shorty for so much power. 😅
I wonder if the one-way driver was trying to beat the train to that crossing... that would be dangerous.
yeah, i did see the cross over... cool.
😊👍👍👍👍👍👍
