Since there aren't many tutorials on psytrance mixing, I've decided to make one.
We will be going through 4 different basic transitions between 2 songs using EQ, filter and the loop function. I used Traktor Pro 2 and a Denon MC3000 to do the tutorial, but the transitions can be made with any software, controller or even CDJs. This tutorial is meant for those who already know the basics of djing but are a bit lost when trying to mix psy.
While these are basic transitions, the idea is to show different kind of mixes than the old boring intro/outro mix.

Lets be honest, there are so many of us here that would have lost interest in mixing Psytrance without this video. The raw basics presented in 7 minutes. It is so good. In my opinion you don't need more and maybe you shouldn't even watch more, its the foundation to create your own style.
Totally agree. Typed "psytrance transitions" into a search bar and found this video on a reddit post from 8 years ago. Still relevant. Adding echo on the FX and using crunch on the hi-pass also do wonders too as just layers onto this foundation.
This how tutorials should be. Straight forward, really laid out well and written instructions with NO talking. Thank you. I will subscribe!
That last transition impregnated me
So how's the bebe
@@abdsnomadicescapades7773 I've been carrying for 4 fucking years now I think its some kind of alien
@@acidbubbles419 yeah maybe it is 👽 🕉️ ey your channel is awesome I'll def vibe to the music you've curated.
Yeah okey i need some practice
Honestly. Perfect
You didnt tell us your whole lifestory or how psytrance djing was invented and what so many people do wrong and whatever
You just deliver quick
Thanks!
Well if you are used to listen to psytrance (or any electronic music) you will clearly notice when a new phrase comes in. Every 8 bars (32 beats) something happens, sometimes is a big change in the track, sometimes is just a new sound added and sometimes is just a cymbal crash that's telling you "HERE starts a new phrase". Start paying more attention to what you listen and you'll get it easily =)
my problem on finding out this new phrase coming in was IDing what a phrase was! lol
btw, on 3:00 did you really mean 8 bars before the swap point? it seemed much more to me but I'm not literate in music xD
amazing video for beginners btw, much thanks! :)
Thanks for the great tutorial!
I keep referencing this video over and over again as I learn how to mix for the first time! Hitech psytrance is my poison and I haven't been able to find much online like this, thank you so much!

Great lesson mate! I have just got back into DJing after a 10 year break and found this really useful (especially the last one!). I always mixed vinyl and have just got a DDJ so good to see how its done digitally! Keep up the good work and Thanks Again!!!!

You're actually really good at this man :) I don't really listen to psytrance much, I usually do techno, deep house, edm maybe, progressive, but I was requested like a few days ago to do a party and play psytrance, and I actually never did psytrance, but I would like to do it because I like to play with different types of house music, so this was really helpful, I definitely look forward to seeing more of your videos of this kind. Keep up the good work man!

Fu*king awesome :D
5 stars video! Thanks!
Thanks. Psytrance is trance at last, so yes, they can be used for any kind of trance. Glad you liked it!
I feel these techniques can be used in other genres too. Great lesson!
depends, tried the lead swap on deep house, but most of the buid ups are just to weak in order to make it smooth
Trance in genral it can be used. Good exsample is hard dance or hard house.
I've seen these techniques all work with the right DnB tracks. Though the phrasing is longer with DnB usually.
that last one was smooth

this just confirmed me I was doing things right, I wish I had this information earlier because I spent some time figuring out how everyone did :) Great tips man, was just searching for some new techniques since I'm doing a small gig tomorrow =)

nice final transition!! i find that adding reverb on some "messy" intros before filtering the bass over smoothens things out depending on the track
