************************************************************************************************
We have been building the drive-train for this chassis for the last few months and we started again by removing all the left over fat, basically all the edges and legs we are no longer using. Then the client asked to move the shifter back 9 inches. Since we have OCD, we figured out away to make it look factory. Then we built a jig to allow us to shorten it the right way.

By far the best prep, planning and execution of this process ever seen on RUclips. Subscribed.!
This is the correct way to shorten the pan. With a frame jig that was made for it by these fabricators. I’ve seen way too many Manx buggy‘s that have been shortened and butchered. The pan ends up with a big twist in it and the welds are hideous. People are spending way too much money on these Manx buggy‘s that are done wrong. This place does them right. Excellent work I must say. I myself am a fabricator and I know good work when I see it
Pete: Jack of all trades, master of volkswagenwerks! Growing appreciation. Just get some proper eye wear for the welds. 🙃🤣😆
I wish I found this channel way earlier. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Attention to detail is phenomenal. Stellar work!
That is awesome work. I wish I would have seen you video a long time ago. I have shortened 2 we chassis , never that good. I built a hunting buggy with all the stuff I had left over. Cleaned out my garage, built a buggy. My latest gets a lot of use out in the woods. It's a combination of super beetle chassis ct 14 inches in the front. Bug front grafted on. Shifter and pedals moved back. Then changed the rear suspention, used Empi spring plates, home brewed adapters. I'm using a 59 bus trans axles.adapters for bvb the reduction gear boxes. I had the front spindles lengthened 3 in. Gain some altitude. I could use a raised front axle...loved your craftmanship. Awesome.
Your work is second to none. I wish I had your talent. I own a 73 Thing. I wish I could find a way for you guys to go through it and make it new again, stock for the most part but changes that don't show....engine etc. I will keep watching your videos and learning.
Thanks Steve!
Slick jig,no guessing!
Like the build
Great explanation and great execution
Impressive the work you do !! We admire Brazilians !!! Top!!
Thanks for sharing the chassis tool you made.. simple but perfect!!👍👍
Awesome job. Surprised i didnt see more hate in the comments about cutting up a chassis
Can’t wait to see this project complete.
I like the frame jig. Work is on point as always. 👍
Loved the engineering and the quality.
Nice job on the shortening of the chassis
Looks like you will get a bacon sponsor with that sizzling bacon footage. Great video. Love how you kept the factory look and smooth transitions. Great fab work.
your guys and you work hard You get the scare and nervousness out doing some of our own projects 😎cool tips
Nicely done!
I shortened my chassis for my buggy too.... that e brake handle is very close to the shifter
Old biker friend in Alaska no riding in the sky use to do same thing for making his lowest model Trikes,,,The Frenchman out in Boothill Palmer, his ride was a Chevy Davidson,,corvette power..., ! I helped on a few VW powered ones...
Nice work. I like the sliding frame jig.
Nice work Pete, your work is top notch. Love the channel
Nice work.
Nicely done, enjoyed attention to details!
Built a Berry Mini T in1972 enjoyed that car if I had a bigger place to keep it I have one again
Effective use of safety squints. Well done on the modifications also.
Great video! always want to do something new to my bug every time I watch Airkewld.
Great information and detailed work! Just when I needed it too!
I’m getting ready to work on a project similar to this one.
Awesome guys!
We used to shorten them here for the buggy kits. had to use a stepped cut.
Otherwise it wouldn't get a license plate.
has anyone done a feature of your history in a magazine right back from when your love of the vw.s till where you are now i would love to read it watching yous work you must have your beds out back you look like its everything you want in life ..well done

I'm trying to avoid hacking up my ride but that new i beam end sure looks nice.
Very interesting and valuable information, hope to see one in my buggy, thanks
Thx Robert
Great stuff 👍🏻😊
Love your work. Super cool.
No need to shorten stock vw beetle floor pans any more as we manufacture VW beach buggy floor pans. They fit from 14 too 15 3/4 inch shorten buggy’s. Made from 1.2mm 18 gauge steel.
Interested.
Ordered my floor pans yesterday. They do look awsome. Can't wait to get my chassis built up.
É ums fuscas muito top que vocês tem ai parabéns
Valeu obrigado 👍
I can only speak English but it makes me happy the VW community is so diverse and world wide. I gave an up vote to the comment so I hope it is a positive one.

Hey Pete, have you ever built or would ever consider building a lowered/air ride chassis for a 356? I would love to see your vision for an old Porsche.

Sooo, what if I live in Australia 🇦🇺 and I win?! I would love to come and see the workshop!
Lovely content but the music overpowers the video...not so nice on 6.2 stereo setup ...lower music volume and you good to go 👌👌👌
We did this one at 36% volume We have never built a set in this color...WOW! 17" Smoothies from Airkewld in _______!!!! Watch that one and let me know if that was ok 👌🏻
Nice!
Very helpfull information, directly to the point.
Starting my own unique build.
With vw bug parts, if i could personaly contact you to help me with some issues.
That would be super helpfull.
Greetings from overseas 👍(the Netherlands)
Because the client asked
Nice chop, Pete! That ebrake will be right near the shift!
Did you complete that Mini T build that this chassis was for? I'd love to see some photos. I'm in the middle of a Berry Mini T build myself
Send us an email and we will send you pictures
Where’s the part 2?? I’m in the process of shortening my pan. Would like to see how you tackle it.
Are you subscribed?
@@AirkewldVWs sure am
You will be alerted when it uploads to RUclips my good friend
Some of the first welding I did was shortening a '67 chassis. Came out well (and within 1/16" of square) but life got in the way and I had to sell it.
the original Manx had 14 inches removed to lower the cost of the kit by 2/3s.......how did the cost lower?
Materials, maybe?
Sweet. Damn good job on that frame! BTW, I would LOVE to win a new front beam for my 74 Karmann Ghia.
Does anyone know the wheelbase of a lowered bug without drop spindles, I assume it will shorten some especially in the front when the front arms become more horizontal, stock bug wheelbase is 94 1/2 inches Thanks!
24:07 mines berry melange & strawberry raspberry
Tengo la parte del trinche o soporte del motor ya podrido es factible cambiarlo
No lo sabría basado en esa declaración.
since the shifter shifted back towards the ebrake i see that you eliminated the e brake all together? or will you relocate it to work elsewhere?
Eliminated all together at the clients request.
PARA HACER ESE TRABAJO SE REQUIERE UN JIG SIN DUDA QUEDARA PANDEADO
De hecho mi amigo
@@AirkewldVWs DISCULPAS NO VI EL VIDEO COMPLETO SORRY
Badass
Don't burn your eyelids Pete
So what happened to the bacon?
It was digested…🤤
Would you like to Borrow one of my welding helmets?
You only get 2 eyes, take care of them.
Borrow....how would one Borrow on of your helmets? Hmmm..
We can do without the music
Appreciate the comment Cal, however, music is part of my thing in videos. So it will be here to stay.
