    saw the 1972 go by near the end and thats my year. also don't forget that washington quarters with the old eagles on the backs of them are fast headed for obselete coin status, they already are not being made anymore and iknow of no plans to return to that design later so start grabbing those while they only cost 25 cents folks. get in early and cash out big

    • @TreasureByMeasure
      @TreasureByMeasure  6 лет назад

      +Dayrile Hello!! You make a very valid point! I think these coins are under valued because they don't have silver in them, and you are right. That leaves a great opportunity for the rest of us to scoop them up. Excellent share!! You're welcome back any time :-)

    I collect coins of all kinds including silver state quarters. My collection is worth a bundle now. The first years silver state quarers run $65 each. I paid a couple hundred dollars for my silver state collection, now its worth well over a grand.

    I found a 1980 D Penny that is extremely thin. It is .02" thick and weighs about 1 gram. It is about 1/3 the thickness of a regular penny. It appears to me to be a possible mint error but I'm not sure. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm real new to coin collecting. I can provide photos if you're interested. Thanks

    wanted to know about few pennys I found the "o" in of is different size then other one example it has "of" with small o and others have "OF" with both letters same size are they mistakes thank you for taking time to help people band teach so many wonderful things

    • @TreasureByMeasure
      @TreasureByMeasure  6 лет назад

      +Michelle vieth Hello! Great question. It sounds like you discovered an example of a die variety. The size of the o in of will depend on the year. It's pretty common though. For example, a 1983 will show a small o while the new 2017 shows a large O. Check the date of your coin and Google image it to see what is common for the year you have. If what you have looks different, then you might have found a rare die variety. Hope that helps :-)

      +Steve Roush I'd love to find that quarter! :-D I know that 1982 was a transition year and composition errors have even been found in the '83 year set recently...which excited me because I've been hoarding those pennies forever because they're my birthyear. Just need 10,000 hours to weigh then all! Lol but I'm not so confident about what you're referring to in the '84 set? Please, more details :-)

      That sounds like an interesting coin. I'm not familiar with any square American coins. It might be a token of some kind or from a piece of jewelry maybe.

    I was born in 1971 and my godfather gave my parents a 1971 half dollar are they worth anything more than face value? Also my parents have a box of silver coins and dollar bills that have red markings printed on them. Where should I begin to see if I have anything of value. Have quarters, nickels, half dollars, and silver dollars along with $5, $10 bills and I think dollar bills as well. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @TreasureByMeasure
      @TreasureByMeasure  6 лет назад +1

      +Joey Aleman Unfortunately, no silver in the 1971 Kennedy half dollar. However, in high grades, they could be worth up to $5. The silver coins, called "junk silver" do have better values, but will fluctuate with the price of silver and what kind of buyer you're dealing with. Numismatic collectors will pay more for coins in better grades, regardless of metal content. I don't know enough to help you with you paper bills, but there's got to be some good Internet forums out there for that topic. For your coins, I really like the forum, CoinTalk. Hope this helps, and good luck! Keep us posted :-)

    I open a lot of coin rolls at my work and I pulled a quarter yesterday where the edge was perfectly flat and smooth with almost sharp right angled edges. I've been looking around for any information on this but haven't found anything. Would anyone on here know what is up with this coin?

    • @TreasureByMeasure
      @TreasureByMeasure  6 лет назад +2

      +Justin Jacobs Hey, Justin! Thanks for dropping by. There could be a couple things that have happened to the coin you've described. Possibly, the edges where pressed hard while being rolled through a coin machine. Another could be that someone modified the edges by hand using a hammer or files. Hard to tell exactly without a picture. Have you had any other interesting finds with the volume you get to hunt?

    • @justinjacobs1501

      plenty of silver and wheat pennies, a steel penny, and a 1904 Indian head penny.

    • @TreasureByMeasure
      @TreasureByMeasure  6 лет назад +1

      +Justin Jacobs Those are epic finds!! Silver is always fun and an Indian head penny is pretty rare too! I'm still hoping to find a steel penny in a roll, if you can believe that! I go through a box a week. I average about 6 wheats per box. Did find one Indian head. Also, if you come across any Canadian pennies, be sure to pull those out too! They aren't making any more and they're obsolete coins. So, that's good for collectors. Are you working on completing any collections right now?

    Oh I do have a quarter that’s bent on the edges it looks like it happened when it was minted it also has grooves in it
    And I also had😕 a dime that had 2 flat spots on the ridge facing each other it looked like it got crammed in a tight spot and had the edges flattened while the rest of it was normal but it was sadly stollen hoe much would that have been worth
    I also had a copper penny with rectangular imprints in it but it was also stollen how much would that be worth I don’t have any photos sadly and it was also stollen

      Great question. When it comes to resale values, it ALL depends on what the buyer is willing to spend and what you're willing to sell for. So, I'm not much help there. But, I do know a lot of people who trade foreign coins to try and build sets. Sometimes you can get 5 coins in exchange for one they really want.
