- 2006 in the WWE was a wild time. I loved the product at this time. Every week whether it was RAW or Smackdown, it did not matter. We were tuned in and we were excited. Stars like John Cena, Edge, Triple H carried the RAW side, and stars like Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio held it down on Smackdown. In April of that year we got WrestleMania 22. This Mania was just awesome. A night I will never ever forget. Lets go back to 2006 and take a look at WrestleMania 22 from 2006

What about Smackdown vs Raw 11
This is what I love your channel
Could you imagine Eddie vs. Shawn. It would've been an instant classic!
I would have been beautiful
Or rock vs HBK

Instead we got vince vs hbk🥴🥴
I remember begging for my mom to order this and many other ppvs in that era. This was my childhood man 😭🔥

Oh I just love the young people.
Bruh, my dad gave me Wrestlemania 22 on DVD for my birthday at the time. I used to watch it all the time on my PS2 lol
I got this and One Night Stand 2006 as a gift for entering middle school. It was great because middle school sucked. Big time, I wasn't on my way nor making it.
I still have my DVD event in good condition😁
I remember one Random night my dad brought me home mick foly and edge action figures it came with a hardcore title it was a WM22 pack ..
Lol same
I still have the DVD lol I think it's a 2 or 3 disc set cuz it includes the HOF ceremony from that year
06 was the year I started watching WWE more regularly. As a Kid Cena really did seem like superman to me and I always rooted for him and I never stopped. Even when people started to boo him.
I know right as a kid you understood what Cena was, he was like the military guy that cares about the industry he's in and just wants to be the best. I think 06 was the year his Character was truly at it's best. It wasn't Superman or Thuganomics. It was Soldier Boy Cena that was taking respect.
Fuck cena
MasterStepz9 • You missed a lot
@@OGTrollTroll8 I basically started in 05 but, it was hard times in my family so we could only afford cable occasionally. So, I only saw a 5 episodes in 05 and a couple in 04. Batista staying on raw to beat triple H was the one I remember the most from 05. Epic.
*Edit:* It wasn't by choice that I started in 06. If it were up to me I would've started in 04.
@@mrmoviemanic1 Soldier Cena was my favourite iteration of Cena. He wasn't a full on boy scout, since he was willing to wreck JBL's car. But, not too edgy or heel like Thuganomics Cena, who cheated in his some of his matches. He was just right.
This PPV was severely underappreciated at its time
I thin it was pretty appropriated
I was all about WrestleMania 22 just because of the Mick Foley versus Edge extreme match
*rick flair on top of ladder*
Me: gasp
"He's gonna win!? 0.0"
Everyone else: "Big Mistake."
Rick Flair never had good odds when it came to climbing
Ric Flair is one of those stars that do poorly at heights. The only time he did well on the top rope was Starrcade 1983.
Poor lady’s reaction when Ric got dropped with a suplex
The short answer to the title is storytelling. The stories were clear, concise and straightforward. They all made sense and they all culminated at the biggest show of the year. The wrestling was top notch. Top to bottom, there was not one bad match on the card. WM22 is one of the best WrestleManias ever.
Completely Agree. I mean I would skim the Playboy Pillow Fight (But as a kid I thought it was hot) and the Booker T vs Boogieman match would've only worked if Booker ate the worms and then beat Boogieman, but it was more the pee break and funny match so it was much more forgivable.
But yer, the unfortunate thing about Mania's is that I'm never alway 100% happy about a match happening when I'd rather see something else. But with Mania 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 30. It was just a great card top to bottom with even a bad match coming off looking like it had a purpose.
@@mrmoviemanic1 I mean, watching it now, it still is incredibly hot. A bunch of hot Goddesses undressing and fighting. I absolutely love it😍. It's not wrestling but it's hot at least
I swear Wrestling Fans are bipolar sometimes. They want one of their favorite wrestler to become the champion, than when the wrestler finally become the champion. They started hating him and want him dropped the belt right now
Kevin Espada I agree it's annoying as hell
That’s because it depends on the location. If WM was in a different city they might of cheer differently .Chicago fans always cheer on the opposite side, it’s always crazy here
@@pedroflores128 even then wrestling fans can't decide on who they want as champion it's bullshit tbh
Sadly that will never change they'll always be insufferable...
pedroflores128 not valid. A prime example is Seth Rollins most recent run. They wanted him as champion but towards the end of his run he was booed
"How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man!?"
Ric: "I loves the young people" *gets his ass beat* 😂😂😭
I remember I begged my parents to get this wrestlemania allllll week and they kept saying no no no no no . Well that night I was so depressed I couldn’t watch edge and foleys hardcore match or undertakers coffin match etc . Well my mom took me to her friends house not expecting that my damn parents wanted to watch it to and her friend had it playing on the big screen tv. Man I miss these old wrestling days . Life was just so good then .
Dude I got a similar experience but with WrestleMania 23 instead. I got to watch that show in a very inconvenient way in comparison to how I watch wrestling nowadays, and the community right now is so much bigger than when I logged in in that 50+ people forum that I used to navigate back then too...
Same thing happened to me 😭😭 W21 Was the best man..
my parents never bought me any ppvs when I was a kid the only thing I could do was look up the results the next day
That was awesome of them.
Really cool parents! My folks would do stuff like that! I miss those times too man
Damn, we really could’ve had HBK vs Eddie and Kurt Angle vs Undertaker at this Wrestlemania😢
Kane and The Big Show were one of the most underrated tag teams. They were so dominant

This mania needs more attention. So many great matches. Also the last one to be hosted in an arena instead of a stadium
I miss arena WMs.
Not really
There aren't any great matches except
Edge v Foley
Money in the bank ll is good but pales in comparison to the first
Undertaker vs Mark Henry was bad and a complete step down from Taker vs Orton
Trish vs James is awful and boring
Shawn vs Vince is ok but is easily both worse mania match
Mysterio vs Angle vs Orton is good but nothing great
Cena vs Triple H is ok and but is also a big step down from the prior 3 Maina main events

Not even close, 97-03 best years of Wrestling

People loved Kurt Angle along with the fact that a few fans thought the Eddie part was too forced.

“Last WrestleMania, Shawn Michaels had a wrestling classic with Kurt Angle, this year he’s wrestling a 60yr old man in a street fight. Get yourself a man who can do both ladies “ 😂
Favorite wrestlemania most nostalgic for me, and made me a wrestling fan
Knockout IKR this is my favorite WrestleMania and I’ve watched it probably 200 times
And what was crazy about wm 22 it was set up for a lot of dream matches of what could have been like eddie guerrero vs hbk, kurt angle vs undertaker, orton vs batista, mcmahon vs bret hart but a lot of plans were scrapped due to injuries, refusing to do it, and of course Eddies passing RIP. But still end up being one of the best wms of all time in my opinion and still my personal favorite wm of all time
Melvyn Windmon R.I.P. Eddie! I don’t know how it still managed to be so enjoyable but it sure was!
21 is my nostalgic one. My friend invited me over to watch it 2 months in advance, so I had to see what it was all about. Thursday night smackdown became my favorite part of the week. (Didn’t have cable for raw until years later)

Saturday nights main event in 06 pls I’ve been commenting on the past videos I’m glad you at least mentioned it😭😭💯
I love how you just completely skipped Undertaker Vs Mark Henry. Yeah, not worth analysing much either. You're right! This match had no business being a WM match. Thank God the next year brought back how awesome an Undertaker match can be.
Originally it was supposed to be a 4 way with Kurt, Randy, taker and Rey but they didn’t know what to do with Henry and couldn’t do a 5 way and have Rey come out the winner
@@johnnewman1910 ehy noy
@@johnnewman1910 how would that work if taker still had the streak??
@@johnnewman1910 it was supposed to just be Taker v. Angle, Rey got worked in there once Angle said he wouldn’t break the streak
Should have been Angle vs Taker and the triple threat could have been Henry v Orton v Mysterio.
This was the Wrestlemania I remember when I was young. Obviously, 17 is the greatest ever. But 22 I hold very close to my heart. I was 8 for this Mania. Ahhhh the good old days
WWE 2006 was the closest thing resembling the attitude era
That is so true you had Vince McMahon talking shit to God you had edge and Lita got live sex celebration
Super Nostalgia with this Mania! This was the age when my memories of WWE are the clearest.
Vince McMahon always loses in his own creation known as WrestleMania every time
I think my fav Vince Street Fight trilogy is Hogan at 19, but I do think HBK had a more classic match with Jim Ross completley murdering Vince on commantary. Also Shane's one is the most famous.
Wrestlemania is Vince McMahon’s favourite child
2006 was my earliest memory watching wwe
I remember watching edge vs foley live and him getting speared thru a table with flames was crazy

Wrestinggifs comin in clutch with the vid. Good looks man. Keep it up
This was my first wrestlemania I watched as a child. 2008 when I was 7. I watched the DVD and even watched the whole thing even viscera winning the battle royal. Top to bottom great wrestlemania, and my favorite wrestlemania.

Mine was Rey vs Angle vs Orton (Yer in hindsight it's short but it was like a John Wick action film for 9 mins)
Same here bro, I actually paid 10 bucks just to watch this maina again.
Either the mysterio match or the edge and Mick Foley match. But the promos my favorite were Michaels and McMahon and the separate Triple H promo.

I remember going to saturday nights main event in dallas back in 2006 i was so hyped watching dx beat the spirit squad and shawn michaels superkicking Vince into the cage and locking them in 😂😂

Bro i love your positivity. All youtube channels that cover wrestling have this negative reviews of all things wwe. And your just like "nah bruh, shits chill" i dig that.
I Know right, he's like the power of positivity against all your WhatCultures and Wrestlelamia's. I mean I'm a mark that doesn't like Roman Reigns or creative but I'm not on a complete rant about it everyday, frankly WWE's given me way too many good memories that it's impossible for them to damage that, what they are doing know is trying to make enough money as possible and good for them, so long as everyone gets paid.
This guy is honestly better than most Raw and Smackdown commentators today..... He makes me feel as if I’m watching the show in the arena. Kudos to you man, keep up that grind!
It was my first WrestleMania and one of the best ever! My personal top 3: WM17, WM19, WM22
Mine too.
I was just watching your Shawn and God Vid and now I get your notification
The fact that Undertaker was able to get a good match out of Mark Henry made this Mania special to me. That, & I was actually there. The s Foley & Edge match stole the show for me but it was cool hearing a lot of the fans cheer Mickie, & the roof blowing off when Rey won that World Heavyweight Title.
It's known as HEELAMANIA
Wrestlemania 22 to me is up there with 17, 19 and 3. It was just so special to me as it was my first one I watched and Rey winning was just special, with Cole saying "Dreams do come true."
I do hear a lot of people didn't really think Rey should've been champion, but they are absolutely wrong, this was a time where Eddie, Benoit and even Edge could become champion. That's what makes the Ruthless Agression Era so special, it was an era where everyone got a chance to shine.
And to me Rey's moment was a beautiful story that his kid fans could love like a Disney film. People will say Eddie's win was special, well Rey's win to me, was what Eddie's was and what Benoit's was to their fans.
Either way thanks for finally getting to this one man. Mania 22 is an all-time great and while 2006 has more critics than it's worth, you understand as a fan there was no time to be more hyped or into WWE as they every day gave you your money's worth like it was a mini attitude era.
Oh big time I remember later in the year I watched Judgement Day because I ran into the DVD while out shopping with my mom and begged her to get it. Perfect timing because Judgement Day just happened a few days ago and I was able to watch it before that weeks Smackdown. WrestleMania 21 & 22 = BEST
These are so awesome man!
The main reason why Cena got booed at this point is super easy to understand that no one really talks about.
Essentially it’s what happened to HBK at Survivor Series 96. He was essentially being booked like Triple H in 2003 where he was just mowing through everyone and on a never-ending killing streak. The problem is that this typically only works for a heel because you want to know who could finally beat him, especially when they always find a way to win (aka JBL). Austin never had the crowd turn on him because he didn’t always overcome the odds and made us want him to rise to the occasion.
Also, how do make the greatest technical wrestler look incompetent at No Way Out 2005 when the next month he put on the match of the year with HBK?
@ArjenRobben Mr.Wembley So the adults cheered the opposite of who the kids were cheering? That's weird because i didn't hear any kids cheering on Vince McMahon
