The Raw v Smackdown Survivor Series match is an all-time classic with both announce teams bickering like crazy and as usual, Randy Orton scored his third consecutive win in a Survivor Series match...only to be spooked by a royally pissed off Undertaker who came back after Orton backed him near the titantron using Eddie Guerrero's lowrider
The only time SmackDown vs Raw truly felt like a war between the two brands. Two strong GMs, two brands with great top stars and lockerroom leaders as world champions. Plus the final chapter of Evolution with Triple H vs Ric Flair in a vicious gimmick match, last man standing to be precise. And one of the best storylines of all times, Undertaker vs Randy Orton, with that awesome comeback moment from a burning casket after Randy set Undertaker on fire in one at No Mercy. That was WWE storytelling at it's absolute finest! If only that kind of consistency and brutality could make its way back into today's product.
Imagine if Lesnar wouldn't have left wwe and Eddie didn't pass away, the SmackDown! Team at The SS '05 would be: -Batista -Brock Lesnar -Eddie Guerrero -Randy Orton -Rey Mysterio or JBL
high as a muthafucka Batista probably would’ve still got that push especially cause he was in Evolution. JBL on the other hand would’ve never got that main event push they probably would’ve had him in the US title picture.
I love Shawn Michaels, my favourite wrestler of all time. But Smackdown had always had that spark, there was just something about it. It seemed like it always had the better talent.
Randy Orton being surprised by the Undertaker was the first screamer I've ever watched on RUclips back in the day in 2007 or 2008 I think. That mofucker actually put the girl from the Exorcist right after the Undertaker kicks out the casket.
From 2002 to 2005 the brand split was legit and it was awesome, after that WWECW was added Eric Bischoff and Heyman were out of the company and the brand split went to shit.
Eddie vs Shawn rivalry would have started that day.... In fact, it was gonna build up to Wrestlemania 22. Every time I here about Guerrero, I remember the good times and then feel sad. I was a Smackdown guy thanks to him. He introduced me to WWE during his championship reign. But, still the Pay Per View back then, was fucking lit and I was rooting for Smackdown to win. Speaking of Smackdown vs Raw, remember that time after the 04 draft on Raw, when Trips was "drafted to Smackdown" after he and Eddie had a match at the main event, Smackdown and Raw lockerroom came out and started brawling... Was that a tease for this or were they suppose to have it last year?
Funny story about this show. So this show was in Detroit where I lived and I was like 8. Weeks before anything was announced and before they were doing the qualifying matches for the teams, a local commercial popped up and showed all the participants in the match (this was before Eddie had passed so he was in it) and me thinking wrestling was still real and always live it had me super fucked up lol.
16:54 At that moment I wondered did Kane & Edge put their differences aside for the love of their brand. Especially when no one was pointing out that those 2 had a deadly feud over Lita just about 5 months earlier 😂😂😂
The buildup to a great SD vs Raw match, HHH/Flair LMS, Orton completed the "3 peat" and Taker's legendary return made this 2005 edition a fun show. Also keep grinding bro
I've been recently revisiting a lot of the Survivor Series shows from my dvd collection and i rewatched this one from 2005, you are definitely right, Raw and Smackdown really did feel like completely different shows. I was always a Smackdown guy through and through during the Ruthless Aggression era as they were always about putting on a good show and it was about the talent unlike Raw where it was just one big repeat show of Triple H on a weekly basis with very little change. The main event of team Raw vs team Smackdown was fantastic, it really did feel like a clash of two worlds colliding and even the commentators from both shows couldn't stop arguing lol I also thought Undertaker returning to scare Orton was a great way to end the show and seeing him in the ring debut his new attire with a full beard just made his return even more epic. Overall a good solid show.
I didn't have cable growing up so I couldn't watch raw. But smackdown on upn was what I had. And they did the raw rewind . So yeah it was different raw always made me curious.
I was team SmackDown by default since Raw was on cable and i didn't have cable.... I remember thinking of raw as such a mythical show where the old attitude era wrestlers went to
Raw after Survivor Series 2005, Eric Bischoff has one goal to accomplish to keep his job, and that is to force John Cena to lose the WWE title, which that didn’t happen.
Considering that Eddie was supposed to be in the Raw vs Smackdown match here instead of Randy, and considering that Randy and Shawn were the last two men in the match and also the fact that Eddie and Shawn were going to have a match in Wrestemania 22, That makes me wonder if this would be the first thing to build for there potental match in Wrestlemania 22 if Eddie was still alive. Just a thought.
I feel like WWE got rid of the brand split because SMACKDOWN legitimately felt like a better show than RAW once guys like The Rock and Stone Cold left the company and Undertaker moved to SMACKDOWN. I still remember SMACKDOWN superstars constantly main-eventing almost every PPV, especially Taker at Wrestlemania. That's why WWE sabotaged SMACKDOWN and took most of their stars during the annual drafts because they couldn't have their main show be overshadowed by their "B show". But they really overdid it because now no one really gives a shit about SMACKDOWN anymore..
No they got rid of the brand split because they didn't have enough roster to work two separate shows. The reason they did the brand split in the first place because they had a lot of wrestlers on the roster and couldn't put them all on one show. So having two seperate shows made more fresh stars and it worked for a time.
@@urbanexplorer6994 and they did it again, and we almost had SmackDown being so good, I actually flipped out if I missed an episode in 2016 (hadn't done that since 2007) and now they really made SmackDown FUBAR.

I was full-on SmackDown fan. I didnt have cable where I watched on Raw but repeats happened on Telemundo channel 47 every weekend afternoons, Saturdays or Sundays playing repeats from Monday's broadcast on Spanish dub. I'll never forget when this ppv had it all. It spoke volumes how all the superstars from both brands would settle their epic battle to prove which brand reigns supreme. The match was so unique in its iwn right but lets not forget the commentators bickering on each other. Tazz was savage in the deck and roasted the Raw announcers which made me laugh. SmackDown had Randy Orton, the legend killer who cemented his name to win 3 survivor series elimination matches for 3 years. While Raw had Shawn Michaels as thw only legend in the team to represent the Red brand to take on every superstar SmackDown has until he was eliminated by Orton - 2003 ending - and until the end when Randy wins and celebrated with the mid-card talent, boy he was bound to meet and see the return of the Undertaker. That shocked look on Orton's face flashed before his eyes. He wanted out and Undertaker takes out every mid carder left and right and tombstones William Regal while leg splitting! Orton met his fate and Michael Cole called it "it is indeed the beginning of the end". What a night. Happy 18th Survivor Series 2005.

Hanging out with my older cousin on Fridays me and him would go nuts wrestling while smackdown was on commercial break
This is The Best Survivor Series Ever. HHH vs Flair, Cena vs Angle, SmackDown vs RAW, Undertaker Returns. This is the best survivor series of all time along with 2002 (my favorite) and 2003.

I wish I was around to see the ruthless aggression era.
I didn’t start watching until 2006 at the end of the ruthless aggression era. You could really feel a shift in quality a couple years later. I was in kindergarten then and I wish I could’ve been a few years older and started watching in 04 or 05
Keep up the quality content homie 🤙🔥...Smackdown all the way tho
Nas is like half man, half amazing
