- The Undertaker vs Randy Orton feud from 2005 in my opinion is one of the greatest feuds of all time. This feud lasted almost the entire year and had some wild things happening. You name it and it probably happened in this feud. Insane amount of OMG moments. So lets go down memory lane and take a look at this iconic feud from the ruthless aggression era. 2005, what a year. This feud was awesome. It felt like a horror psychological movie as undertaker was a demon and randy was a hero trying to conquer fear. Not to mention back when hell in a cell was special, scary, and the place to end feuds. Love the good old days.
That was the moment when his Legend Killer persona reached its' climax. Taker was the only one left on his list. And the fact that it was an inter-brand feud at first made it more awesome. A guy from Raw is challenging a legend from Smackdown. Damn! The timing is perfection lol. I can still clearly remember how he RKO'd poor Stacy that night on Raw, turning heel on the process...

raze Agree there was inter-brand feuds at Wrestlemania 21 you had Orton and HBK,the top stars on Raw challenging Angle and Taker,the top stars on Smackdown. It was great as both matches were a classic. Also RKoing Stacy made him a top heel again in WWE.

One of my favorite feuds of The Ruthless Aggression Era. I loved the moment when Taker appeared at the end of Survivor Series 05 and Orton had that scared look on his face after him and his father burned the casket after their casket match at No Mercy.

Everything about the Undertaker vs Randy Orton feud was fantastic, it had great matches, great buildup, fiery promos and memorable segments. After constantly getting buried by Triple H and Evolution not to mention having a very lukewarm run as a face which resulted in fans slowly turning on him in favour of Batista, Randy Orton turning heel and challenging Taker in a legend vs legend killer at WM21 was his saving grace. They went out and had one of the best matches on the show plus Orton came very close to ending the streak. The program put Randy Orton back on the map and re established him as one of the top heels in the company, it was the best rivalry of 2005 and to this day it's one of my all time favourites.
Dude his Fued with Triple H was still one of the best, he was just not the favourite compared to the likes of Batista.
Honestly him getting sent to SmackDown! Was the best thing for Randy at the time

yeah in terms of his character but in terms of wrestling ability 2007-2009 was taker's prime years and it peaked in 2010 at wm 26 with the match with shawn taker was still a very good wrestler after that too but in late 2000s he was the top 5 in ring performers for wwe

Imo. I feel like this feud doesn't get talked much when it comes to what made Orton a household name and I know this will never happen in modern WWE television but what if WWE started bringing back storylines like these.
Of all the feuds I've watched on wwe over the years, this is the one I'll never forget. I really hoped they would revisit this feud. I was terrified of Taker after this feud.

Besides the Mick Foley match from Backlash '03, I don't anyone can argue that the Randy/Undertaker feud was the feud of 2005 and truly put Randy Orton on the map as a top guy.
Elvin Martes Orton was already an top guy from beating Foley and Benoit. I'll say it put him back up there as one of the top heels in the company.
Randy Orton’s feuds with Mick Foley & The Undertaker really helped shape him as the star he’d go on to be.
I'm lucky that I was able to witness this feud when I was a teen, during a time where info-sharing isn't as great as now, reason why I was able to fully enjoy it without spoilers. Can you imagine how nervous I was when Randy tried to counter Taker with his own Tombstone Piledriver @ WM21?? My chest was beating so hard that time. I thought that was it haha. The biggest moment of this feud is probably that time when Team SmackDown won @ SS then as they were having a celebration, Taker surprisingly appeared at the end. Simply amazing!

This feud is the perfect example of the WWE saying that a lose to Undertaker is 5x better than a win over any other superstar.. Taker doesn't bury other superstar or squash them .. he legitimize them. This is my reason why I always wanted Taker to win on his final match.. because he doesn't need to lose to put over someone that's his star power.
Facts because in the beginning of the feud, Orton was an main eventer and top star, then after the feud, he left out as an bigger star, top heel, and massive main eventer.
All respect to undertaker and Orton as I’m a huge orton fan, been following his career since his debut and I loved his evolution days and my favorite rivalry with triple h after evolution turned on him, his matches with Benoit were all good, I just didn’t get too much into the taker feud.

The feud that helped save Orton. After a lackluster face turn and burial at the hands of Triple H Orton went from the future of the business to possibly damaged goods. This feud helped give a spark back to the Legend Killer allowing a solid rebound.
Aside from their big match at Mania, I think the facial expressions made this rivalry. Orton did a fantastic job displaying fear and putting Undertaker and the streak over. Then the character development post Mania? Chef's kiss.

The Thumbnail and Fued was my Brother in law furst introduction of Wrestling, he just turned 5 in Kindergarten and my Wife was 9 in 4th Grade and they were Watching Smackdown at their Grandma's and the episode of Taker Stalking Randy was what they saw. Saskt he stopped watching and didn't start watching regularly until Late 2010 so he missed some good stuff.

RKO Chokeslam reversal was sooooo good. Loved this match and was a huge Orton fan.
Yooooo this storyline was awesome from start to finish and it had 3 underrated matches that I don't see anyone talk about nowadays. We all know how awesome Taker and Orton's WrestleMania 21 match was, but their Summerslam match in August was great as well. The Handicap Casket Match at No Mercy in October was great and the feud ended with a really underrated Hell In A Cell Match at Armageddon in December. The feud also has some awesome segments like Orton "killing" Taker by driving him in the back of Eddie Guerrero's lowrider through the stage and that one backstage segment where Bob Orton's face was all bloody.
