- The Royal Rumble every year is one of the best PPVs. Going back to my childhood, there were so many awesome Royal Rumble PPVs, however one that stands out to this day is Royal Rumble 2007. A night where John Cena had one of his greatest matches ever against Umaga. In a classic Last Man Standing Match. The same night also gave us one of the best Royal Rumble matches ever. Where four men, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Edge and Randy Orton put on a show. This show in 2021 still just puts a smile on my face when I think about it, with the 2021 Royal Rumble approaching, I thought why not go back in time to 2007 and take a look at What Made Royal Rumble 2007 So Special?

Wrestling Gifs. I'm share a personal story. My father ordered this Royal Rumble for me and the family in 07. My dad loved The Undertaker and he got so happy he won. It was his last ppv with us. He died of cancer March 23, 2007. I never was the same. When I watch or think of this Royal Rumble I think of my dad. It was a special night for Undertaker Shawn Michaels John Cena Batista Edge Randy Orton and Umaga. They all shined this night. Appreciate you letting me tell my story. R.I.P Pops 🙏
RIP to your father bro🙏🏼
Rip to ur father
RIP to your dad
Sorry for your loss my friend. May he Rest in Peace. God Bless you
😳😳 That's crazy af.. Cuz I lost my Mom to cancer on August 04, 2007. After that I stopped watching wrestling for a bit.
The fact that this was Taker’s only Rumble win is mind blowing. Also that Cena/Umaga match was brutal.
Not really, he didn't need the Rumble wins, his streak at WrestleMania meant more than a title match. But god dam Batista vs Undertaker should've been the main event at Wrestlemania!
Yes it is mind blowing the taker has been runner up though twice once in 2001 and 2003 he should of won in 2003 but damn Batista screwed him hey how ironic that taker got his revenge in the same year as he accually won the rumble 😆 he's also tied for the second most eliminations at the rumble with 39 Kane is first with 45 or something also surprising that despite all Kane's eliminations he never won a rumble or competed in a main event at wm exspecially when taker been in 5 main events at wm and won 4 of them and plus also won a rumble surprisingly so much difference between the two
@@grandmastermario3695 in 2001 the runner up was Kane
@Meta Man the runner up in 2001 was kane

The showdown between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at Royal Rumble 2007 is a prelude to their WrestleMania classics in 2009 and 2010
And when they kicked off Royal Rumble 2008
@@cheche5201 When Santino entered the Rumble as the third entrant, he knew that he screwed up because the two previous entrants (Undertaker and HBK )are no pushovers but two of the best icons in WWE history and thus, he gets thrown outside the ring

The final 4 performance in the Royal Rumble between Edge, Orton, HBK and Undertaker was amazing. Once HBK and Undertaker was the final 2, it was absolute classic. The storytelling behind the final 4 was incredible
Randy Orton and Edge are major league dicks who refuse to let the other guy win the Rumble and they are willing to stab each other in the back just to get the coveted WrestleMania main event title shot
@@michaelbandada9887 That's what made that final 4 performance incredible. Orton and Edge was hellbent taking out HBK and Taker and was willing to play mind games with themselves
Now just imagine HHH never got injured. Taker and HHH would've been the last 2 with Taker winning
@@jrod132 I can see that or HBK vs Taker vs HHH as the final 3 in Royal Rumble

My very last class in high school I sat The room as a senior about to graduate in two days and I watched the last man standing match for the first time in years that’s how I ended high school
The moment whenever there's only five wrestlers left in the ring was one of the best things in royal rumble 2007
Man the rumble 2007 is underrated the goat the taker won led to the most underrated mania match ever
Every taker mania title win in is underrated
Batista and edge
I would argue that Wrestlemania 24 is the most underrated but 23 was really good. Taker/Batista definitely stole the show.
@@Marcellus-ro4ko I say WrestleMania XXVI is very Underrated. All three are awesome
@@lancethefilmguy9392 Ehhh I mean, XXVI was more of a two match show which was the Money in the Bank and Taker vs HBK. The rest of the card was average or below.
Umaga was really something man, never truly appreciated his heel greatness until I became an adult. He can’t even be seen as a heel, he’s just like an unstoppable ferocious force back then.

It really does, maybe I'm looking at this with rose tinted glasses but we really didn't appreciate what we had at that time. Though Star Wars was dry in content, and the MCU hadn't been conceived yet
@@alonsoarana5307 Exactly my friend. This was back when WWE was actually trying to entertain us as fans. 2002-2008 was the Ruthless Aggression Era and we didn't know what we had until it was gone. Since the 2010s, we have seen the downfall of the WWE. As a 90s kid, I miss both the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era.
Yh. I’m not a fan of the song but that stands out
Undertaker was by far in the best shape of his career in 2007. He not only had a ton of muscle mass, but the man was just ripped on top of that.
That Cena Umaga feud was just incredible. They built Umaga up to be a huge monster heel. Even his loss at the Royal Rumble made him look strong.
2005-2007 was the bridge between the ruthless aggression era and the PG era, and is sadly overlooked by a lot of people
Actually the PG Era aka Universe Era was in 2009-2013
@@lancethefilmguy9392 *2008-2016*
2005 was 1000x times way better than those years 2006 and 2007 with lots of injuries, The Spirit Squad, ECW exploitation, The "May 19th" storyline, The Great Khali, The King Booker gimmick, The Devaluation of the WHC, The "God" storyline, Kurt Angle leaving the company for TNA, Mr. McMahon becoming ECW champion, and The Chris Benoit tragedy, the list goes on and on. The PG Era sucks too.

John Cena vs Umaga in a last Man Standing for the WWE Championship felt like an absolute War to the next new level
The Royal Rumble match itself in the end was something special between the final two between two former world champions and hall of famers HBK and Taker with a huge pop.
2007 was an Underrated year in the WWE in my view
This was my very first Royal Rumble. Still remember being 11 watching it live on PPV with my stepdad who was also a huge wrestling fan. Good times 😀
The 2007 Royal Rumble is so underrated tbh
I don't think is underrated at all, for me is the beginning of Undertaker's prime as a performer.
The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels being the final 2 in the rumble match made it iconic
A story for all-
I watched this at home on a tiny 11 inch black and white TV. That time cable was expensive in my town so I had to climb two story, hinge on a wall to clip the dangling wire to get the cable for those few hours. My brother saw me & tried to snitch to mom. I begged him not to. We both saw the match & went out to celebrate after the match. We were the only few who saw the match and went full story teller mode in the collage. Yup I was in collage that time. I can never forget this moment. Legendary royal rumble match.
Cena vs Umaga is honestly one of my favorite Last Man Standing matches
Man when Cena took out Umaga I was beyond relieved for my dude, I remember that same year he feuded with the great Khali too and beat him as well!
2006-2009 I was a diehard wwe fan as a 9-12 year old. Both the content and video games were so nice I feel bad for 2010-present fans
same but they did get to see batista heel which was great
undertaker is my all time favorite so this rumble will always be my favorite I'll never forget being hopeless that khali is going to win and then takers theme played and won the whole thing its one of my favorite moments in wrestling
Talk about The TNA game, call it “That time TNA made a wrestling game”
When TNA was on AEW level
@@jUAN.T Actually, 2000's TNA was higher than AEW (still is as this of when this comment was made)
That game was fun
It had potential that’s for sure. Can’t say it was a good game.
I actually beat that game a few times lol I miss those days.
That 10 minute impromptu match between Taker & Michaels was better than most normally timed matches
You're right about everything you said except for 1 thing, you said the older fans hated Cena and that's not true. I'm 39 years old and loved Cena.. I couldn't not respect the fact that he filled the shoes of the 2 greatest superstars the business has ever seen after they left.. he took the place of the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin and held the company down. My hat goes off to that man, he deserves all the respect a person can give him for accomplishing that.
Exactly. Both Cena and Batista carried the company after Austin and Rock left. The Last made stars in the WWE
@@lancethefilmguy9392 you're right, Batista did contribute a lot to the WWE's success.. Undertaker did to.
Damn I was looking at wrestling a lot in 2007
Mannn, I felt this. As a kid this was all so amazing, I’ll never forget these legendary times.
Hate to admit it but the last man standing match was nothing but incredible. I really thought this was the moment Umaga was going to win the title

John cena vs Umaga underrated

Umaga was a perfect monster heel. Wished Umaga had a run with the title and let Cena chase and beat him for it. They concluded the feud a little too soon.
This rumble holds a special place in my heart because this was the year I reconnected with my dad and he gave me $50 bucks, me being a kid I went to Popeyes and went to block buster to buy this. I didn’t have cable growing up so I mostly watched smack down on upn/My 20 and I never got to see pay per views. When I saw this I was super happy.
This goat WWE. page mentioning the goat Toby Maguire as Spider-Man is the best thing ever. Literally you whole childhood in 16 mins
i love how he casually said Sandman in a video about 2007
if u get that reference i commend u
Lol
Awesome video my guy! I can completely relate to the Umaga and John Cena feud. I was a 10 year old kid relatively fresh into wrestling and I remember thinking how unstoppable Umaga was and was worried that Cena was not going to win
TBH that Cena Umaga match was so scary for me. Umaga was crushing my childhood hero I thought Cena was gonna die, and just when I thought Umaga was gonna win he lay soundless on the mat and the bell rings
I was 7 when they had their first Hell in a Cell and Kane debuted. The Attitude Era Rock & Austin & DX /NWO & Sting was my child hood. You make me appreciate your childhood era the way you broke it down. Makes me want to go watch it. Thank bro!
I know Hardcore Holly was mentioned as a joke, but honestly at the time, that was feasible considering he was frequently thrown in the main event here and there.
That said, I would love to see a midcarder win the Rumble. Someone nobody expects - but not incredibly insulting either. Someone like Cesaro or Aleister Black today.
Royal Rumble 2007 is one of the best Royal Rumbles ever! It's my favorite of all time too! Before the rumble I pick Taker to win and I was right lol. I saw some other sites that if HHH didn't get injured he was supposed to win. Not sure that was going to happen because Taker hadn't won a rumble yet. There was no way HBK was going to win because he was change man. Just imagine at WM 23 it could've been Taker vs HBK and Cena vs Batista but in the end Batista vs Taker and Cena vs HBK were fucking great. Batista vs Taker should've main event WM 23. Cena vs Umaga last man standing match was fucking great. Cena made Umaga look like a beast! Umaga was the MVP of that match. It's the year 2007 Spider-Man 3 and Transformers came out and every kid including loved it until we got older Spider-Man 3 wasn't good and Transformers was okay. In the WWE outside the ring was bad too many star injuries, Vince's limo blows up and we thought he died, and the Chris Benoit murder tragedy
I was 16 when I saw Spider-Man 3 in theaters. All these years later I still enjoy it
@@lancethefilmguy9392 I was 8 when it came it in theaters and I loved it because of the black suit. I thought it was better than Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. As I got older now I'm 22 I watched a couple times and it's not good lol
Honestly, this was beautiful. Back in 07 I was 10 and I remember all this like if it was just yesterday.
